Back cover not fitting well? SOLUTION - Desire General

Hey guys,
So ive been doing a little research since i got my Desire... and notice that i am not alone with my complaints about the back cover.
When i first got my Desire... i took it out of the box, pull the back cover off (correcty), then put battery and SIM in, put the back cover back on (correctly) and was a little bummed to see that it wasnt fitting... correctly.
Not a huge problem, but a little annoying.
After reading a bit online... ive been finding that some people are experiencing the exact same issue i am (back cover popping out .5-1mm in top corner), while others are praising the back cover for its perfect fit.
anyway... i finally bit the bullet and decided to order a replacement OEM cover off ebay - $35. received it the other day, and it fits perfectly. all snug, smooth and flush.
perhaps i had damaged the original cover in the beginning, or maybe it never fitted well (didnt notice before i removed it for the first time). It could have been badly moulded during manufacture - or whatever.
so if your having this same problem with the back cover not fitting, try getting a new cover (note that if there is a problem with a certain batch of the covers - badly moulded/deformed.... you might get another lemon).
good luck guys.
cheers.

My cover came off when I dropped it, tried putting it back on (when drunk). After fitting it I noticed a bulge and gap between the cover and phone casing. It bugged me for days and I was finally going to get a new one when I looked carefully and noticed one of the anchor points/clips inside the cover was folded in.
I must've tried to force it on causing the clip to fold inwards instead of popping over the phone casing clip. Simply used my nail to lift the clip and the cover snapped on perfectly, has done ever since.
Hope this helps.

some people on some other forums had commented that their reason for the case not fitting was due to the plastic clips being folded down.
They mentioned they had managed to fold the clip back into the correct position without breaking it, and after that the cover fitted well again.
this was not the case with my cover, i had examined it and the inside back of the Desire very closely... and couldnt find a reason to explain the mis-fit.
Thanks a heap for your reply mate, glad you no longer have this problem.

[Q] Any Case that covers the camera?

Ok, I searched and didn't find any other requests for this... but does anyone know of any cases that provide for a sliding type cover for the camera? I ask because I currently have one of those rubberized type covers and it's fine, except that without fail, the hole where the camera is always ends up getting dust and crap in it so that in order to take a decent pic, I have to bend the case back and clean it off.
Sure, not a big deal or effort, but would rather just have something covering it so that, like the usb connector, could just be slid open when needed.
not 100% on it, but with my Defender series for my Iphone 3gs (had that before captivate) there was a cover over the camera. I'd guess that they'll do the same for this. Only crappy part is that the damn case isn't out yet so we can't know for sure. I'm hoping they'll release it soon.
also check out the seidio cases, one of them (rugged or active x) may have a cover over the camera...
Thanks... doesn't look like the defender case for the Captivate has a cover either. Oh well, not the end of the world... just a nice to have that I was hoping to find.

Roo Case - Needs work...

I bought this when I got my Xoom in March.
http://www.amazon.com/rooCASE-Execu...PCFK/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1313413965&sr=8-1
I've enjoyed this case for quite some time, but now it has turned into a pain. The inside case that actually holds the Xoom has worn out already. The leather is all in good shape, but the flap that actually keeps the Xoom from sliding out is no longer of use. The flap has a piece of Velcro on it. This piece (I'm assuming from being in such a tight spot) has gotten so beat down that it no longer holds onto the soft fabric. Replacing the piece will consist of removing the stitching that holds it in place, then sewing on a new piece.
I thought I'd share this in case you're still looking for a case. If you don't mind replacing this piece after a few month then it's an amazing case. All positioning is perfect for me, as you can set it at almost any angle.
Running into some of the same issues you are. I love the case from the outside. We need flaps on the camera side, so it doesnt cover the camera. I am going to check with the creator, to see if they will swap.

seriously bud... dont sweat.. CUT the old piece out if need be.. and then go to your local hardware store and by velcro with a sticky piece on the back for either side, the loop or the hook.. i can do that and have used it to hold many things with both pieces and it only cost me about $3-5... not alot of money and will take about 5 minutes... try it out if you like the case.. or set it on fire, dance around it, laugh then suck it up and buy something else lol

UK Folio Case

I've got the official Moto folio for mine at the mo, and its not a bad bit of kit however, it has 2 annoying "features".
When you pop the bottom of the case off to stand the device up, the device "slips" inside the case and the plastic clip bits push the volume rocker.
I dont have a screen protector on mine and the protective ridges leave bars across the screen..
Anyone in the UK tried another case, or someone in the US perhaps with a case that I can get here in the UK?
glad it's not just me then! I'd assumed I'd just gotten a slight "dud" one when I found my Xoom slipping out slightly.
I also find that the bottom corners don't both fully clip over the tablet...I had assumed it was just because it was new (got it last week) and needed to bed in a little, but that may not be the case then.
The bars you mention annoyed me at first, but they wipe off so I'm not too fussed. Would be interested to hear views on other cases as well though
I've had no issues with my uk folio case, apart from the price I paid for it last year. It sits very firmly in the case and clips over fine, however I do have to apply pressure to get it to clip over properly whenever I am putting the case back on.

Same here, no problem with it slipping when popping the bottom of the case of to use as a stand. Its a firm tight fit.
As for the bottom not fully clipping over the tablet. I had that problem when I got my case. I sliced the two little nibs of plastic off and although its not a 100% fit, it does sit a lot better in the bottom half.
I've gone for this one as it seems to get great reviews

SGS3 sliding inside of otterbox defender case

Over the last week my phone bugged me out a little because I thought my charging port was breaking off and would have to warranty it. Then this morning as I was taking it off the charger, I noticed that my phone was sliding (maybe a millimeter) up and down within my otterbox defender case. I was happy at the fact that it is not the phone charging port but concerned still because of the case. The first thing I did was take it off to investigate. None of the plastic, including the tabs, are broken and the two plastic pieces fit together fine and snug as best as I can tell. Cannot figure out what is going on. From what I can tell the foam on the back piece is still the same thickness as before. The phone does not slide excessively but it does definitely do so when I plug and unplug my charger and occasionally if I move the phone quickly. The problem seems to be a design flaw or maybe the plastic has warped but cannot be seen readily just looking at. It is annoying because it has caused the battery cover to scratch ever so slightly toward the bottom (scratches were not there 3 weeks ago when I took it out to clean the dust from the screen).
Has anyone else experienced this? This is a first for me and I have had multiple phones with defender cases. I have not dropped the phone or banged it around much at all. It just suddenly started sliding. I know Otterbox has great warranty if the plastic is broken or the silicone is warped. However they require two pics based off the online warranty request. One pic of the disassembled broken case and/or stretched silicone and one with the imprinted numbers on the inside of the silicone. How can I show the problem of my phone sliding when nothing appears broken at all? I am at a loss.
Have the same case, mine fits fine, no movement.

I noticed later that when I sit the phone on the back portion of the case there is a pretty substantial gap (about 2mm) at the top. I called Otterbox and the rep indicated that it is the right case (just had to be sure) based off the imprints on the defender parts. He said it was an unusual situation and worked with me. They are shipping me a new case now. Luckily I got a Commuter case for free. I will just put that on for now until it comes in. I just feel like the current case is defective and it will not protect like it should until the new one comes in.

Official flip cover - $20 shipped

I purchased one of these a week ago and came in today, it's the official AT&T / LG flip cover with wireless charging and NFC.
Came in today, in a plastic bag inside a padded envelope. Works great, feels great, definitely the real thing.
Don't mean to sound like an ad, it's not my listing, but I've seen people getting replacement back covers without Wireless charging for $30+shipping, so this at $20 is a steal!

One question, if I hold the phone or sit the phone on the table, back side down, the front flip cover part doesn't stay all the way shut. The right side is about 1/4th inch up off the screen. The auto screen on/off still works but it'd be nice if the cover stayed "tight" on the screen. Though I understand there is no magnet or anything on the far side so it may not be possible, is it... possible?
" the front flip cover part doesn't stay all the way shut. "
That's probably why it was a RETURN aka REFURBISHED and why there was only one of it. Discounted.
I just bought 2 from the same seller (extra one by accident, hope this seller a4c will let me return it for refund. He didn't even responded to any of my email telling him to just send one). I want to know what do you think of this flip case overall, since you've been using it for a while by now. Does it protect the phone from accidental drops well? I'm thinking I'll have to bind the cover with a large rubber band or something to keep it from opening up when it drops. Right now I'm using am Abecus flip case. It works okay, but holding it in my hand is kind of awkward and tiring. I'm hoping to do better with this lg flip case.
Yeah I'm also searching for a nice smart case for the G Pro and would love your feedback
I just got mine today, and I must say,I'm kind of disappointed. This flip cover case offers no real protection to the phone what so ever. The cover itself may protect the screen from scratches in the pocket or bag, but I already have a screen protector for that. It's really just a lg e980 back cover with a screen cover flap attach to it. There is no protection to the four corners of the device if the phone falls. The battery most likely to come out if the fall is a hard one. The flap itself doesn't attach to anything, there isn't a magnet or a button to keep the flap close. The overall appearance of the phone with this case, is just like the original phone with a black plastic screen cover, but it does give a smart look. Earlier the op mentioned that the cover won't stay tight. On mine it works fine, may be it's not staying tight due to that the synthetic leather needs be worn before it will fit right, but it's really not an issue. The plus side of this case is that when you close the flap, it does make the device sleeps, and open the cover wakes the device. This feature alone is worth the price of the case. Using the cover to wake and puts it to sleep beats the gestures and the button any day. I'm not sure about other features I have heard about, such as the NFC and the wireless charging because I haven't tested them. I may return this case because it doesn't protect my Phone, but my other cheap wallet case is already showing signs of wearing, and this case does look sharp. So I don't know. I may have to shop for another case soon. I will post in a few days after using this case for a while.

Well they just suppose look fancy but where never intended to really protect the phone.

What's fancy about a piece card board like screen cover attach to the back cover? I figure since they call it a case, it suppose to protect the phone. My cheap wallet case offers some protection when I drop it. They really should call it 'screen cover' because there is really not a case anywhere. But like I said, the best part of this 'case' is the screen sleep/wake function. I may grow to like this special back cover after all.
