I am using Eclair. By safe I meant does it hangs or stores too much data n all and yes the very primary query was rooting required or not.

No, it doesn't need root, so rooting is NOT required.
First it converts java apps to apks and you must keep J2ME runner installed for running those apps.
I'm using only one app with J2ME runner ( that is Shmessenger) and I like it more than the original yahoo mess app.
If you have other intresting java apps working on android please share.

I was only having one mobile bank-app which will not be useful to you...
Snaptu is also good(social netwrk, news, picturs, movies etc all integrated) I had it on my last java mobile [ http://m.snaptu.com/ ] not tested on android yet.
Any ways, in that J2me runner only you will find so many apps/games.
will share if anything else comes interesting.
Thanks.
I agree with games, but you can convert your prefered apps too, not only ones in the j2me runner.

any idea how to use .jar app?
i am assuming you would need to have jbed or something of that nature installed to allow android java ability. if you don't already have it, you can update your android installation to include it.

1. Read forum ;-)
2. Search google ;-)
3. I don't know if there is JBed version for Donut 1.6 (I had one, but display was completely wrong)
4. You can also convert it to apk (search for app to do it)
yeah, you've right. i post it at morning when i had need going to school..
Thx, for answers
For example how do you make programs that do 1-click rooting, or modify the official ROM such that it does not update HBOOT, or make mods for it? What programming languages do you have to know? What system environment (Windows, Linux, etc.) do you have to be running?
Love Android, want to start contributing after end of my national exams (November )

Then how do you make programs that do 1-click rooting, or pre-load applications like busybox into the ROM? You'd have to manually edit the source code of the ROM, don't you?

I'm 16, no prior programming experience (unless you count a Hello World as one), on Windows right now. How would you advise me if I want to start contributing to the Android scene?
I've found a post which looks like a good starting point and contains a lot of helpful links:

Try extracting the .zip, adding and removing apps is not that difficult; most of the .apk's are located in /data/app.

Data/app is where installed apps go, chances are u dont have anything there cuz ur using apps2sd
Sent from my HTC Desire using Tapatalk
data/app is where you can put user-removable and other apps you want seperate from the system/app in a custom rom - has to be added to the rom itself like A2SD does.

Oh okay. So before trying my hands at developing a ROM I should try writing some apps first?
Edit: But my ROM Manager has a "Move to SD Card" button, which means it should be in /data/app?
Bump. Then do I need to be on a Linux environment? Any gurus can give some pointers to a newbie to the Android scene?
being on linux would be easier - knowledge of the OS would be better.
If you use Linux you can use dsixda's kitchen to sign and build the rom after youve finished adding removing, editing etc. It's going to be a case of trial and error, but you cant break the phone as long as you're using a rooted/su rom, without the HBOOT or radio in it. You might get a bootloop/freeze, or 57 force closes but you can always re-flash.
Say i wanted to remove certain preinstalled apps from the official Froyo ROM, how would i know which files to delete from the zip?

You'll find a lot of info on the following thread. There you're linked to Android Developers pages where the structure of a ROM etc is described. All the info you need is there.

I think I'll try writing some apps on Ubuntu before even thinking of maintaining and developing my own ROM. This way I can get close and cozy with the Android system and learn Linux. One question though: Is the learning curve steep?

If you have never had ANY programming experience before I would reccomend learning another language first, before trying to learn Java. Try vb.net if you have Windows, learn that and you get the gist of how to programme, then install Linux Ubuntu or another distro, familiarize yourself with the Terminal command line, then go on to learn Java, then the Android SDK, then make some apps, then learn how to modify roms etc. The last thing you want is a bricked phone
im very new to custom roms and android (ex-iphone user) so please forgive me for the noob-ish Q
is there anyway to get the playstation pocket app back while on cm7?
ive been testing FXP017 for the last few day and its amazing but i kinda miss crash bandicoot and medievil.
ive got the playstation pocket apk but install fails.
thanks in advance
You could try and back it up with Titanium Backup in a stock-based ROM, and then restore the app (without data) on CM7. Sadly, it can't be bundled with the ROM because it's not open-source software.

The playstation pocket app requires the SE framework, obviously CM7 uses the CM framework, so it will not work
Is it not possible to 'just' download Crash Bandicoot via either Store and play it 'without' the PSP apk?

Adobe Flash Player 11.1.111.9 for ARM v6
I present to you the new version for devices based on ARM v6 processors.
(Our smartphone just refers to this device group)
You can install the new version of either of three ways:
1. As usual apk file (all required libs are included) - signed_Adobe_Flash_Player_11.1.111.9.apk
2. As CWM flashable zip (all required libs are included) - FlashPlayerARMv6.zip - need to "mount system" before flash
3. As CWM flashable zip (all required libs are included) - FlashPlayerARMv6_no_need_to_mount.zip - NO need to "mount system" before flash
From the installation files are removed larger and useless library, which has markedly reduced occupied space in the device memory.
Thanks to toreton & lubomyr from 4pda.
*Previous versions for all processor types*
How to:1. Download attached com.adobe.flashplayer_111102059_11.1.102.59.apk
2. Download attached lib.zip
3. Install com.adobe.flashplayer_111102059_11.1.102.59.apk but don't launch it!
4. Copy with RootExplore lib-files from lib.zip to /data/data/com_adobe_flashplayer/lib/
5. Fix permissions for lib-files as on attached screenshot.
6. That's all. Flash will work in any browser you will use.
Thanks to NitroOxid and vlzSilver from 4pda.
For all who have trouble with installation of this app KapTmaH from 4pda made update for CWM. Click Me!
Another version Adobe_Flash_Player_11_v11.0.1.153_ARMv6_only.apkYou can install it as usual apk.Screenshots from my Ace with stock KPP FW:
So is this version detected as v11 or v10.3?
Confirmed to be detected as 10.3 even after restarting phone. I guess lib files were from 10.3?

Flash has never worked for me on Opera Mobile. Only in instances when i downloaded the official version of flash (as found on Market) then would Opera Mobile detect and show accordingly in Settings. But it doesn't even work then too so what the heck.
Try using Maxthon browser.

i got a big feeling that you often shoot your mouth off before verifying things. i wouldn't be surprised that you made your previous comment as such without using Opera mobile at all. Which makes yours an unqualified comment.
Please lah, comment responsibly. One day you may be quoting something here which someone else on their end might really go on and do. And what happens if you had said the wrong things? BAM!

According to me, you have to install the gapps (Google Apps) that are in the second post, I tried to install it but always gave me the error of the multicolored, because of faceunlock, told to return to normal colors with only remove , but honestly it felt very slow, do not know, better turned to ICS (Ice Cream Sandwich) ... regards
I would recommend removing the ringtones or if you care enough you can just move them to the sd card as the space required is very little.
