that would be awesome.

British english is pretty great *shrugs*

What is strange is that if you don't have one installed, the voice is perfect, but it's limited, and miles are km, etc. I was surprised it worked without installing voice synthesis, but it did.

Loquendo TTS Susan, Is about as good as you can get right now. It's availble on the market, but it does cost.

i think she's foxy

There was an eSpeak voice that was pretty amazing, but even set to American English it would use metric units.
Somehow I've buggered it up though, and can't seem to get it back. Now for eSpeak all I have is this horrid robot voice.

I really like svox. The main app is free and the voices are a couple bucks each. You can get US/UK/(maybe) Australian English, male and female. It's on the market. Works well for navigation and other stuff, like reading your email aloud in LauncherPro.

How did u guys get the voice to talk in nav. Mine won't talk just shows directions

An article I read a couple days ago said that Now requires you to adb push a couple files over. After that it was supposedly mostly functional.

Post Google Voice?
I know it runs on ICS, I been running it on mine for the last couple of weeks now, installed it via the marketplace, didn't have to do anything besides install it.
It works pretty seamlessly too, text messages/voicemail-transcripts go right to my messaging app, and the voicemail configuration works too (missed calls going to google voice instead of the carriers). And can send/receive text messages thru it as well, and did try calling out of google voice twice.
The OP probably means the new Google voice search that's part of Now, I'm assuming. There's an apk on the SGSII thread that's somewhat functional but I got a parse error trying to install on my G2. Also the voice search doesn't work.

It is a bit buggy but everything works for the most part except voice. The development is moving fast though so hopefully we will have something fully functional soon.

Texting

Is there a way to receive texts and respond to them on my N7 without using a new number? I think there may be some way to do it with Google Voice, but I'm not entirely sure. Help would be greatly appreciated, I don't like this new number thing.
Why don't you try tablet talk it pairs right up with your cell phone via Bluetooth or wifi. The best part is that you don't have to get a new number either.

Google Voice works fine (as long as you have a GV number).
I'll check out tablet talk.
I could use Google Voice, but I don't want to have to give my Google Voice number out to everyone instead of the number everyone already has.
Thanks guys, I'll post back once I've tried this stuff.
EDIT: Tablet talk is great. Everyone that wants to text/call from their tablet should get this (granted that they don't use GV already).
Is there any free app that does what Tablet Talk does?

Tablet talk is amazing
SyncSMS has been my choice for the last year or so, but i'm trying DeskSMS out.
You can also use the Facebook messenger app or Google+ messenger. Works just like texting.

DeskSMS is good, but don't like having an extra app open to look at my SMS...works well on my laptops, easy to use etc
MySMS was hit or miss, UI is laggy and sometimes SMS wouldn't sync right away.
SyncSMS worked well when I tried the beta, but I didn't get around to purchasing the full version since I didn't use it a lot.
Going to check out TabletTalk later today, since I have been using my I/O N7 a lot lately

Does JB replace S Voice with Google Now when you upgrade???

Asking all the people who are running the early builds or anyone who scored an official?
Sent from my ASUS Transformer Pad TF700T using xda premium
No. It doesn't replace it. You get Google Now still. And the voice for S Voice changes. More humanly. But still not as real sounding as Google Now. I re mapped my home button to launch Google Now because S Voice has always been incredibly slow and not that great IMO

Yeah. But I wanted the feel of S Voice (one of the only good things about it), with the brain of Google Now, you know?
I wonder why Samsung is still trying to push S Voice so hard when Google's own software is vastly better the S Voice. I kinda would have preferred if it was taken out completely.

Not hard, considering Siri is a dumb broad..
I can't think of a single possible reason one would choose S Voice over Google Now. It's just terrible. Sure, being able to control the phone with your voice is a neat feature. But it's useless. I can launch any app on my phone faster than you can get S Voice to do it. Cool + impractical = useless.
I suggest keeping both S Voice and Google Now. On Jelly Bean, you'll be getting Google Now which is an addition for voice prompts. S Voice is mostly used to control the phone and launching commands whereas Google Now is great for searching.
S Voice = Commands, Launches (EX. Text John Smith Where are you?)
Google Now = Searches (EX. What is tomorrow's weather in Los Angeles?)
Both have their PROS and CONS.

Can anyone develope a google voice integartion into touchwiz dialer

Hi,
I'm on the Moar Rom and was wondering if anyone can create an integrated dialer with google voice. The first integration I would like is the ability to see voicemails in the call log. This is available on stock android by setting it in google voice app but doesn't work with the touchwiz dialer. The second integration I would like is for the bottom left button be able to launch the google voice app. Thanx in advance
I don't believe so. But that's sorta what a voice is lol.. Say call who ever and it will
Your confusing Google search/now with google voice. Thanx though

Wouldn't it auto update anyway? Why you hate hangouts? Its pretty much everything talk was plus tons more...
Sent from my HTC6500LVW using xda app-developers app
I was able to find the Talk Apk. Auto-update is easily preventable by setting it not to do so.
Talk is far, far more visually appealing and navigable. When chatting with someone, I find it impossible to side swipe to the user list screen for some reason. Hangouts is just another example of trying to "fix" something that wasn't broken. What is the "tons" more you refer to? It still hasn't merged SMS, which would actually have been useful.
I bet you like the new Maps too and the loss of layer functionality?

Perhaps to you. I do like the new maps it seems to lock quicker. No need for the attitude... I find the navigation much easier with the swiping and I love the look of the application. Its far easier to add people from your contacts as well as the different levels of navigation within the application. Love how easy it is overall versus talk. The new maps application lost a feature I don't use... Not saying its alright for all but your attitude sucks...

I just checked and I still think they need to improve on that. I'd like it if they showed the online status in the opened hangouts window instead of just the new hangouts window.
If they did that then it's worth switching to, but as it stands, talk is still superior in online chat in my opinion.

Yep, that's what I did on my N7 (2013). However, I backed it up first just in case and THEN delete it.
One thing I hate about Hangout is that BY DEFAULT, ALL conversation are recorded. I can disable this, but only per conversation instead of the default option. So I have to disable this for EVERY single chat windows, both old and new ones.
Hangouts irritated the hell out of me as well. After using Talk for a couple of years, the update to Hangouts drove me straight to WhatsApp.
Sent from my HTC6500LVW using xda app-developers app
Does talk work on 4.4?
Sent from my HTC6500LVW using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Hangout is a bit quirky, as I've yet to figure out how to send an SMS directly through the app, but it's much more feature packed than Talk I think.
Can someone point me in the right direction? I basically have to go into my Contacts and just choose to send a message. There's got to be a way to do it through Hangout itself though, right?
