I've searched for this in the forum but found nothing, so I made a new 3d.
This happens me with all the build I've installed till now (5/6) and all the kernels.
While installing big application like angry birds or fruit ninja market app download them, but when it try to install them after a lil the phone says me "sd card was removed" and then the installation fail; then, to make the phone mount the sd card I must reboot my kaiser.
atm I run clemsyn's froyo with data on sd partition of 1,5 gb, swap of 512 mb and 2 gb FAT partition.
try Scott's Cyanogen build , i have no problem

hi to everyone.
plz plz if any body can help me m going to become mad installing and uninstalling apps on htc desire due to low memory msg.
what i have done yet.
1.i while putin rooted official htc rom with busybox, did partition of the sd card and updated the partition to ext 2then to ext3 during the process(dont exactly remember the process name) .
2.then had app 2 sd application from market, i moved applications to sdcard but the phone memory still went down.
3.then i changed the setinstalllocation on phone through adb shell to sdcard for full apps installation to sdcard but still the phone memory goes down.
4. i also used the default apps tranfer to sdcard in froyo 2.2 but no change of low memory msg
i have literally uninstalled every new app, one or two has remained and to avoid low phone memory msg i have just kept at 15mb free.
what i do???? i am becoming mad plz help me anyone.
millions of thanks for anyhelp.
should i use rom manager for partitioning the memory card again or gparted live cd.
I don't know if someone bothered to tell you but the apps don't move completely on the sdcard. For example I use the froyo apps2sd because my card went dead 10+ times when partitioned. The google earth app is 22MB and when I "move" it to sdcard it gets to the astonishing 16MB on the main memory.
If you wish, partition the card with rom manager, do a full wipe, then try to insall the apps again and see how it goes. I hope you will be lucky
thanks for the reply freakzone,
actually whatever way i have used, the application does show that the file has moved to sdcard, the app memory itself also changes but overall the phone memory is the same with no change.and low memory msg on top.
you mean partitioning sdcard is risky should i give it a try???
It might work for you, try it, but make sure you make a backup, mine died many times
thanks alot dear, will do it when the emergency in ward gets over..
After I install specific apps (ezreader, Plants vs Zombies, Flick kick football, Flick kick rugby, Flick kick Field goal, Cut the rope and an older version of Fruit ninja) and I reboot, these apps appear corrupt and force close when I open them. The same has happened on another rom. The two I've used are AcesMod007 and Leedroid HD port 3.3.2 R4. I use the CM7r2 HBOOT and use an ADATA 16gb class 10 sdcard. These apps had worked before but somehow only these apps are being corrupted. I've done full wipes. Partitioned my sd card using different recoveries and even gparted. Its only these apps that get corrupted. Once i uninstall them and restore the apps throught titanium backup they work before I reboot the phone again. There are much larger apps on my phone that work perfectly so I doubt size would be an issue. Thank you.
Does anyone know anything about this issue?
Probably has some thing to do with your class ten card. Not recommended.
Thanks but all other apps run regardless and the corrupt apps didn't work with my Class 2 Sandisk.
Is it better to have apps on the SD card or the SD card's second partition that I created, and If I flash a rom will they still be installed if they're in either location? I have the Samsung Extreme Speed Class 10 16GB Micro SDHC card.
Should I use the built-in a2sd or Link2sd, should the second partition be ext 3 or 4 and how should I format it?
I'm using ICS for HTC Desire 0.5.1, default HBoot, Clockworkmod Recovery Touch 5.8.0.2, aGPS and default homescreen with no scripts.
Thanks.
I can recommend to use Stock A2SD with EXT4 (fastest type). Partition size: => 512 MB.
Thanks for your response.
Yep apps on the ext partition. More advantageous. Saves space and doesn't break widgets. Apps are accessible even on USB mode.
Thanks also.
If I make an ext4 partition on my SD card and use the built-in a2sd with ICS for Desire, it will move all apps (including davlik, data and cache) to the second partition with the ability to move them back if needed?
If I flash a rom will they still be installed if they're in either location?
Yes, as far as I know, it moves all apps from your internal data to your ext partition.
a2sd supports moving your apps back, type "a2sd" to get a list of supported commands. The ones you are searching for are propably "a2sd nocachesd", "a2sd nodatasd" or maybe "a2sd noxdata", depending on the option you chose at installation.
If you flash a new rom, it depends on the rom and your installation setup, whether your apps remain or not.
If you flash a rom with the same a2sd script without wiping, your apps should remain. They will be lost in any other case. Always backup to be sure!
I have tried a few times with the A2SD script in (Sandvold's) ICS - but always get problems:
Very slow - at boot-up the "Preparing SD card" takes along time, and also for Apex launcher to internally catalogue the apps before being able to display their icons.
Worse still is downloading from the market, which takes 5x the length of time.
It is true I 'only' have a class 4 sd card - but others have reported this is OK.
I have ordered a class 10 card which will be with me shortly.
The worse problem is the phone keeps prompting me to input my SIM card number, and asking to reboot.
I am on stock HBOOT (but also previously tried cm7r2), I have tried stock and Tiamat kernals, and I have tried all different kinds of a2sd scripts. In some cases I have still run out of space, even though I have 1gb of ext4.
I am currently on Apex launcher, Tiamat kernal - and leaving apps where they are .... but I miss some of my favourites.
This configuration is stable - so I am hoping the new class 10 sd card will do the trick.

Class 10 SD cards are reported to be unstable on the Desire, someone may be lucky with it running properly, but a lot of people have problems; check out the forum.
Thanks for the info. However, I tried it and most apps appear to be on the SD card. I typed a2sd install, y, n, y.
Class 10 card ... my observations

I saw conflicting advice on class 10 cards ... but in any case I took the plunge and ordered one from Amazon - wasn't too expensive .. 11GBP.
I set up the card from scratch via Gparted - wiped the phone and reinstalled Sandvold's 0.5.3 (Tiamat kernal, stock a2sd, Apex launcher ) turned a2sd on via terminal - moving everything ... and reinstalled all apps from the market not from TB.
Result: a very stable phone, nice and quick, no problems with download speed ... so I am pleased as punch.

I struggled like crazy with this problem before I rooted my phone and got an extra partition to store app data and cashe.
I guess you ask this question because you dont want to root your phone. I remember this thread from the time I used to struggle with this exact problem. Perhaps they have new ways to increase the int.memory these days.
(hope its allowed to post links to other forum)

The best way i've found this is to root your phone and install Cyanogenmod 7.1, and use an app available from the Play Store called S2E. You will need to prep your SD card though - I used a card reader, inserted it into my computer and booted off a Ubuntu Live CD, then use Gparted to make two partitions - one large main fat32 partition for music etc, and a 1GB ext4 partition after the fat32 one for apps. Once you have that, put it back in the phone and you can setup S2E to move entire apps to the SD card I have about 90 apps on there now, works perfect, makes the phone better than new! Hope this helps.

please please tell me more about it .. i am using latest version of miui. can i use S2E ? Miui already required a hidden partition for installation purposes. Do I need to create another on ?
Miui doesn't support S2E I believe as it designed for Cyanogenmod. There is another application called link2sd (I think) which does the same sort of job. I remember finding it ages ago and it not working well with Cyanogenmod though. Cyanogenmod 7.1 seems to be the most stable ROM around at the moment though, just a little slow is my only quarrel. This is from my experience anyway, haven't tried ICS ROMs. Tried Miui for about 10 minutes and didn't like it personally.
Try the ICS BCM 3.1U0
It IS working fabulous.
And it has a built in app called Mounts2SD. It seems that I can use both my internal and the extra partition and the space on my SD-card.
I highly recommend that you format your SD-card and get a 512mb partition. Then its smooth sailing.
Which ROM do you currently use?
Alsalm 3alikoum "hello Everybody"
i follow a step to rood my Desire HD and success and upgrdae with rom " [UNOFFICIAL] CyanogenMod 11 Nightlies / Releases " and success and we i try to upgrade with pa_gapps-modular-mini-4.4.4-20140930-signed i get error "suffication space required less than available "
i read a thread a bout partating sd card with minitools and install link2sd but after i used minitools i can't read my sd in my phone while i can access it from any other device, i know it's two issues, but anyone could help?:crying:
You partitioned your SD card. In other words, made the memory on your card "disappear" you will have to get a new card. This has happened to me as well
Since i've never partitioned my sd card, i'm no aware of it. But you may try formatting it completely and set it to FAT32 and then place sd card back to your device with only Nano or Pico GApps only!
Now the reason i'm telling you to use those suggested GApps because our device has a very little System partition which is around 549MB. And the ROM you've flashed takes it about 350MB of system partition so ultimately you'll have left 200MB and if you use one of mentioned GApps then probably you're good to go.
Rest application you may download it from Play Store, it's not a big deal or manually transfer it to system/app folder with rw-r-r permission.
