in addition to this, i believe it locks up when you push back while the video is playing. so you might have to pause the video before hitting back.

if you want you can just uninstall the new youtube app from the market no? if not, this was in the xperia forums...should work.

Hibernate in Non-HD firmware.

Is there a way of getting the hibernate option to work on a non-HD firmware? It was quite a nice option to have on the phone when I ran the HD firmware, but I have now reverted back to sense 2.2 as I use the camera. My Wife got her DesireZ yesterday and I'm jealous of the boot time again.
I wasn't sure if it was something that could be added or not.
Cheers
I think there is a quick boot app on the market but you need to be rooted.

Sounds ideal. Do you know what it's called?
I'm off to search "Quick boot"
Edit: Quick boot on the marketplace is a quick way to enter the recovery mode etc.
It's called quick boot.

Oh my bad I didn't read the description of the app sorry. Only way would be to use a sense HD Rom then.

LED Me Know app

Has anybody tried this as a solution for the LED notification without rooting? I installed and it hasn't worked for me, but on the market comments for the app somebody said it works with their G2 perfectly.
Anybody get this working on their G2?

im dl now.. lets see what happens
not sure for device with out root but mines rooted and its works
how did you get it to work? im rooted too
I haven't been able to get it to work I just saw a comment on the market saying a G2 owner got it to work

Works for my G2
works on my g2... rooted runnin cyanogen mod 6.1.0... works like a charm. i like how one of the "unknown" colors actually makes the trackpad light up for notifications.. pretty sweet it think. give options for green led, amber led, camera led flash and trackpad.
edit: works on my g2... but kinda buggy. like when i check notifications it'll still have the flashing light.. this app does say its for the desire 2.2. so im not too worried about it. im sure dev will have a g2\desire z soon.
works on mine also
Unrooted... not working on mine.
For anyone unrooted who has this working, what settings are you using for the notifications?

Works on my rooted G2 running sense rom

Wow! thats an awesome app! kinda buggy though... still new though. once bugs worked out, needs repeat option. that would make it perfect! good find, guys! thanks!

It asks for Superuser Permissions, so you MUST be rooted!
BUT, it's is really cool! You can have the led flash, the menu keys flash or the camera flash, flash!
It works perfectly upon download. You don't need to tweak any settings.

Take out the battery. Put it back in and start your phone again. If the same happens repeat the battery pull but this time hold down on the volume bar and THEN press the power button to restart your phone. After it starts up in bootloader select recovery by moving the volume bar and then hit the power button again. This will bring you back to recovery where you can flash the rom again or restore your backup.

Note: Start @ 3:15. In the video clockwork mod is black/green but that's just because its an older version, the newer version is black/orange. All the steps are still the same though.

Also keep in mind that some roms can take up to 5 minutes to load the first time. Normally (but definetely NOT always) as long as it doesn't keep reloading the boot animation, everything is fine - the rom is building your file system on your first boot.

Also what are the benefits of switching kernels? And which do you all recommend?
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App
if you took the time to read about kernels and what they are you would know.
but, i'm in a good mood today:
Kernels govern your cpu speed and how to scale it. Some are locked to a certain frequency set and some are made adjustable, but you have to get an app that interacts with the kernel otherwise it runs at whatever it is preset to.
SetCPU is the one I used, but I know there are plenty out there that others would recommend and swear by in a heartbeat.

Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App
I'm using Virtuous rom 1.02 with the advanced kernel. I clocked mine at 475-1100mhz with a low battery profile switch at 275-887 (i think).
Check your rom specific kernel to make sure it runs best for your rom. The rest is personal preference.

*sigh* Give a man a fish and he will eat all day. Teach a man to fish and he will drink beer all day.
Since you're on CyanogenMod, I recommend Pershoot's kernel (available through ROM Manager). If you're feeling bold, download Flippy's latest kernel. Since I'm running the CM-based PyroMod, Pershoot's kernel is built in.
Everytime i flash a rom do i need to flash clockwork mod recovery?

I suggest you check out the stickies sections that has links to a bunch of very well written guides that answer all your questions. the responses you get here are going to turn ugly very fast.

If you open clockwork and your current recover is the same as newest version then there is no need to reflash recovery. The only reason to reflash clockwork is if there is a newer version out.

Video Problems? LAG?!

Ok so this has annoyed me for ages now and I can't figure out whats the problem, even after 10-12 hours of searching. Basically if I don't have a SIM Card in my phone, videos (Youtube & recorded ones) play perfectly well, no problems. When there's a SIM Card in it when I play a video (both of the above) O get a white flash for a second and the video lags but the audio comes through fine. Any suggestions?
INFO:
HTC Desire HD (Inspire 4G in the USA)
2.3.5 stock OTA update
Sense 3.0
Crap load of apps (NOT THE PROBLEM)
No Root
S-On
I do know a little about Android (might be Root & S-Off soon) but not too much. Help would be appriciated a lot!

Have you tried a different sim card? Same sim card in a different phone?

A bit more of a drastic fix would be to switch from stock to a custom rom like IceColdSandwich i moved from stock to this and the speed differentness in the rom is huge! tho you do lose sence

Currently I'm using the Android Revolution HD 7.0.4 and I don't have any lag. It runs smooth
try another sim and see if the problem persist. It happened to me once, i never noticed till i switch on simlock.
The was some minor scratches on the sim which cause difficulties for the phone to read it. Indirectly, the phone allocates certain amount of resource to load/read the sim repeatedly which MAY(or may not) explain your lags.
Just sharing my personal experiences, this may or may not be the case for you. Do try other suggestions as well. Btw, im using MOBO player as my video player.
The main thing I'm worried about is Youtube, cause I watch a ton of videos before I sleep (oh the joys of insomnia!) So if that goes im kinfa screwed. The 3rd party video player solved the lag for the locally stored videos (ones on the SD Card) btw

stock is very slow and eventually lagged with me too ... one thing i did at the time was used timelines app whenever the phone would slow down to see what was using up the cpu.... turned out the sense app " stocks" was going crazy and loading up by itself and taking up most of my cpu when i was on other apps even though i had never used it before. terminating it and eventually uninstalling the app solved it for me at the time ( had to get root and titanium backup for that. ) hope this helps.. ..

I've heard the camera doesn't work on ICS properly.
CM7 seems to do the job but battery life isn't all that good (ARHD maybe?)
camera works without an issue. only stock videocam doesn't work. which you can use aftermarket app such as illusion videocam.
well... blackice gave me the best battery among the roms I've played around with... but if you like sense, arhd is the best gingerbread sense rom.

Try CM7 RC3 with LordModUE 8.9b7 kernel (there's a thread in the Development section). Set your CPU settings under CM settings to 122-1152 MHz with smartassv2 governor. With that kernel and those settings I got a little more than 4 hours of continuous screen on time with auto brightness the whole time. That's awesome for this phone.

Strange effects after ending a call

Sometimes having weird stuff happening after i end a call: goes to some random contact in edit mode / dropbox app opens / etc
Tested carefully and it's not due to accidental touches around the "end call" button, it even did it once or twice without me ending the call...call ended by the other side, calling screen got closed and some contact popped out.
happens rarely, but wtf?
Are u on custom rom???

I'm unrooted and I get the same things. It's like I pushed something bit I heaven't. I hope that HTC will address this issue in their next update
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
The thing that pops up... is it the last thing you used or used recently?
Like cronus101 asked, if the apps that show after ending the call are the most recently used apps, then I'm guessing HTC Sense (the launcher) is crashing each time and since there's no home screen to go to, it displays the last used app. Pressing back will also cycle through the recently used. This is my guess. Try clearing data of HTC Sense in Settings-Manage apps. The best way to get rid of this is to do a factory reset and start afresh. There could be many reasons why Sense is crashing. This behaviour is typical of any launcher when it FCs. If you don't want to factory reset, you can try using a different launcher (Apex, Nova) and see if this still happens.
