[VIDEO] Droid X Argyle TPU Case Review

I made a video review this morning for the Droid X Argyle TPU Cases. I used a Droid 2 to record it, so the video quality isn't quite professional quality
For some reason on all the videos I've made on the Droid 2, the first 2-3 seconds have a high pitch whine in the audio. Anyone else had that problem?

i just ordered this from ebay for about $3 shipped. sure it's from hong kong, but my droid x won't be shipping til at least the 3rd so i can wait.

Yes you can get them cheaper if your willing to wait a few weeks, but if you already have your phone that could be a costly mistake, as who knows how many times you might drop it the cheapest US seller I could find was selling them for $7.95 shipped.

i'll agree with that. get selling!
also since you do have them, couple of questions. are they a soft material like those silicone cases? do they have a rubberized finish so that they don't slide much?

They are softer then a crystal poly carb case, but harder then the rubber/silicone case. These have a smooth finish, so they don't grip like the silicone cases do -- which personally i like, since its easier to take out of my pocket. but others might like more grip. the main advantages i see to TPU over silicone is they don't sag like the silicone ones do, they don't pick up lint, and they are easy to clean.

Just wanted to let anyone who is thinking of purchasing these cases. Just got mines delivered, first off perfect fit and every hole cut out perfect ( headset,mics,speakers) its thin ( it feels as if It was naked to me ) love the texture and feel of it ) Fast delivery and Honest seller. By the way I will be ordering a blue one on monday . Thanks again for selling these cases ..

Glad to hear it! I love my TPU case. The design is so simple compared to cases I've used in the past (Speck CandyShell, SwitchEasy Capsule Rebel, etc). Seems to provide almost as much protection with 1/2 the bulk! Considering how big these phones are, slim cases are a must in my opinion.

yeah! i just got mine in!! i am very pleased with the cases! they have a nice grip but smooth enough to slide in and out of my jeans/dress pant pockets with NO LINT! thanks for the extremely fast shipping!

Which do you like better, the clear or the smoke? I seem to be selling considerably more of the smoke then any other color. Not much demand for Red or Orange. Maybe come Halloween the Orange will be selling like hotcakes!

haha!! i am leaning toward the smoke! it's a nice dark color that matches the droid very nicely! and the argyle print is subtle on the smoke. I do like the clear though! its a nice change of pace. I can understand the low demand for orange haha. its a bold color! now all we need are some bold people!

I would totally buy an orange one if Verizon lets me upgrade (Clemson Tiger fan). My contract isn't up until next summer, but I got an early upgrade offer in the mail today on any smartphone. It's not showing up online, so I'll have to call tomorrow and find out if I'm really going to be eligible. The fine print on the offer says I must be 180 days into a contract, which I am. Will let you know how it goes!

I was thinking of marketing some of the colors to different sports fans earlier today. i put up an eBay listing with the word "vikings" in the title for the purple case. I live in WI so I should be able to sell some Red to the Badger fans! good luck with early upgrade. sprint lets me upgrade every year since I'm a preferred customer (whatever that means). thats pretty awesome if you can upgrade after only 180 days! do you have multiple lines on your account or something?

We have four lines on our account. Three of the four lines were listed on the package as eligible, as long as they are upgraded by August 31st. I have never received an offer of this sort before the X.

well that would certainly make you a "preferred customer" in my book! i wonder if they are worried about people jumping ship for the iphone 4, and are offering early upgrades? although you'd have to be a fool to leave verizon and their droid x for at&t and the iphone in my opinion!

still haven't gotten mine. phone should be in monday. perhaps case will be in then too lol. if not then i may just have to order for you. need a second case anyway for my car mount.

Wow, my new shipment arrived super fast. Shipped from Honk Kong at 11:00pm at night 8/3 and is scheduled for delivery this morning 8/5! Man DHL is impressive. Apparently they clear packages through customs in the air, logistics at its finest!
So smoke is back in stock... or will be in the next hour.

Are these the same cases as DCMUGEN? If they are will you be carrying the screen protectors too? I had already ordered my case before I saw this post but if you are going to carry the screen protectors I will order them from you.

I've been considering ordering screen protectors and selling them as package deal, but i haven't yet. No, these are not the same as the DCMugen cases, those have 1 large cutout on the back, which many people have complained about (I get people emailing asking to verify that mine don't have one large cutout). The ones I have have 2 smaller cutouts, leaving less of the phone exposed. Thanks

I got the same thing in the mail a few days ago, and stopped at a nearby store Wednesday. After talking to the salesguy for a few minutes I realized I knew more about the phones than he did, and stopped asking questions and just told him I would buy the Droid X and to please order one for me... But yeah, my contract isn't supposed to be up until like early next fall, late summer, something like that, so I was pleasantly surprised when I saw the notice in the mail! I have a Touch Pro2 right now, and I just hate it. It's my second WinMo phone, and the frequent performance problems just annoy the crap out of me (I'm running the stock 6.5 ROM just cause I'm too scared of bricking it), so I'm making the jump to Android.

I just got my DCMugen case and it does not have 1 large cutout on the back. It looks exactly like your case. I'm not trying to tear you down, because I would have ordered from you if I had seen this before I ordered from him.
DCMugen is cheaper (by about $4), but you will get your case much slower (took about 2 weeks to get mine from him).

Read before buying Tmobiles Gel Case.

So I did a little research last night on the Gel Case Tmoblie is selling for the price of $18 around here in NYC. While they were all out of black (at least the ones I checked) I hit the good ol' Internets and found something surprising.
Amazon carries the same exact case for $10 in a plethora of colors that Tmobile does not offer.
The companies name is "Amzer". A person posted pictures of the case on amazon and it indeed confirmed it for me. It has the same look and feel (yah I know I did not touch it but it looked like it did.) as the Tmobile branded version.
I saw in the T-Mobile gel skin (Black) thread Aeson asked about the manufacturer. So here is your answer.
Indeed these are Amzer rebranded cases for $10 a pop at amazon.

Yea I saw that but I thought I would provide the info just in case (no pun intended) wanted different colors because I saw a lot of people asking for different colors like white. I myself would love a white one. Also They have been pretty difficult to find over here especially the black one but I do understand where you are coming from. I will buy a black on from tmobile and a white one from Amazon.

Yah I don't know if those are final or pre production images but if not than that case is a total fail! It's very ugly too I hate how it covers the ear piece part.

I just ordered it yesterday. Since t-mo stores are all out of stock. Hopefully they ship soon or before 8/3 or else would suck.

I bought a black gel skin from T-Mobile and it's actually really nice. A LOT better than the blue gel skin I got for my myTouch 3G at launch. I got the last one at a T-Mobile store 20 minutes away from me (my local one ran out) and I was at another store yesterday and it looked like they just got a new shipment of them cause they had about 5 blacks and one light blue, which was kind of nice, but I preferred the black, so it looks like they're getting more colors in eventually.

Can anyone confirm that Amazon is actually shipping these, in spite of the "Usually ships within 1 to 3 months" statement? I'd really prefer to order a few things from Amazon together w/ free shipping instead of different vendors.

Between my wife and I we just ordered 4 different cases from Amzer. Originally saw them on Amazon but was turned off by the 1-3 month comment. Amzer says that they will be shipping on the 3rd and the price was the same so I just went with them.

How can you say this? They clearly are NOT the same case.... I love the one I picked up from T Mobile~

Nearly all of T-Mobile's accessories are re-branded versions of some 3rd-party accessory. T-Mobile just sells them for a lot more money.

I just noticed that amzer and amazon have both changed their pictures of these cases. The pictures that were posted when I ordered the cases last weekend looked identical to the tmobile case. The pictures that are posted now do not. This should be interesting to see what actually shows up on my doorstep.

Yea I noticed that as well so I added a disclaimer to the OP. So no one goes raging at me threatening to kill me lol.

I highly recommend NOT getting the Amzer case. I as well was duped. I ordered the white one last week got it in yesterday and I do not like it at all. The volume buttons seem slightly easier to push but the power button is not. It is very loose on the phone, like ridiculously loose. T-Mobile one is alot better.

I got the gray Amzer case today and I am satisfied with it. I mean for $10 its a good temporary case. It's not THAT loose. It does the job. For me the power/volume buttons are just as easy to press even though they are covered. Everyone's entitled to their own opinions though.
Took 3-4 business days to get here on super saver shipping.

Looks like I will be waiting for mine for awhile. I ordered a couple of the solid color jelly cases, which are in stock, but I also ordered a couple of the Luxe Argyle skin cases. Those aren't supposed to ship until the 17th. Oh well, I guess I didn't realize they would hold the entire shipment until they could fill everything.
My wife bought a tmobile case in the meantime, so at least I can do a good side by side comparison when the amzer cases come in.

yeah i ordered the one from amzer... talked to a buddy at a tmobile and he was "welll you can get it and just return it if you get the case with in 30 days" went home and saw amzer updated pictures.. cancled the order and just took the dive.. the case from tmobile is perfect i dont mind dropping 20 bucks to keep my expensive phone safe

T-Mobile is finally showing these cases as available for order on their website. Black, teal and a different chrome/black case that looks pretty nice. Still waiting for my Amzer black...sorta wish I'd waited now. I really like the look of these.

I think I may stick with my Trident Cyclops until I can get a decent discount.

I have been waiting for this case for a while now!! I have been in constant contact with Ballistic about the release date and so forth through phone and email. After they posted the new pics of the redesigned back, and delayed the release even further...I went out and bought the Seidio Innocase Rugged with Holster and LOVE it!! Was considering the Otterbox Defender as I love the Impact and Commuter but the Defender got horrible reviews....
SO, with 40%, I will probably jump back on board. At $50....I'll stick with my RUGGED and like it!! The Seidio Rugged seriously is an AWESOME case, and having the Innocase too is nice. I bought it just for work, the evenings and weekends I let the Evo run around naked. Though I have found myself taking off the exoskeleton and silicone case and leaving on the Innocase in the evenings...its pretty nice!

I have to disagree on the Seidio case. I thought it was great when I first got it, but after just a couple weeks the port covers were tearing back into the case and I had to cut them off to stop the tearing. Then one day when I went to take the skeleton off, a piece of it just snapped off in my hand. The camera cover wouldn't stay pinned back anymore, so I had to cut that off too. Finally, the holster is a really poor design. The lock gets unlocked too easily and then the phone can just fall out. It should be made so you push down to lock it and pull up to unlock.

That sucks!! Hope that doesnt happen to mine. Mine is actually the Best Buy Platinum brand version. Which appears to be slightly different than the ones branded Seidio. I think they took the flaws from the Seidio branded cases and fixed it on the Platinum branded cases, or so I heard (really looks that way too). For those who dont know, the Platinum brand that Best Buys sells is just Seidio product with a different brand name stamped on it (it even says Seidio on the bottom of all of the packages :-D )

I bought my Seidio Rugged from Amazon..not a port cover has torn or a piece of the skeleton broke off in my hand.
I read this in all the reviews..and all I could do was facepalm and make the purchase KNOWING that these behemoths' were just trying to rip the case off rather than "REMOVE" it. A little finesse goes a long way.
I won't replace my Rugged, just like I never replaced my Seidio case for my G1 way back. I will cheat on my rugged for 40% off that sexy looking ballistic though..even though at full price it's ugly.

Mine lasted since the release date until I broke the skeleton a couple weeks ago. No problems with anything else. The rubber on the replacement they sent is quite a bit heavier and the exoskeleton a slightly different design. I told them it would be nice if just the skeletons were available to buy separately in the Seido store and they said they'd pass that on to sales. If you guys have any problems tell them the same. Oh yeah and colors would be nice too.

Colors would be nice too!! I like the Pearl White ActiveCase Limited Edition that they have on Amazon. White and black is just a sexy combo on the Evo...

Actually, I wasnt "ripping" it off. I just used my fingernail to pull back the corner and release it and it just fell off in my hand. However, I still use it every day and it still does a good job of protecting my EVO. I would just expect more from a case that costs $50 and claims to be "rugged". I preordered mine, so it was one of the first batch. Maybe the newer ones really are better.
Discount or not, I do plan on getting the red Ballistic case when they are available.

How is this a TPU case?
Just recently heard about these, so I don't know much about them, but it doesn't seem like this is a TPU case.

it sure looks like one, TPU is a kind of polyurethane plastics which holds up great not like the old silicone case which lost it's shape pretty quickly

As for the case in the OP it's already had a negative review for being too slippery so I hope this one isn't the same. I'm a Capdase user for my HD2 and was hoping there'd be one available for the SII but there's not just yet so this one will do till it becomes available. Thanks again.

Great news

Case-mate tough case, not out yet?

On their eu site it shows the case and I like what I see. Looked around and it appears that its coming soon. I was wondering if anyone knew about availability? I have an inquiry in and will report back if it hasn't already been dug up and reported here.

I don't have any news but thanks for sharing that link. I've been looking to see if Case-Mate was preparing any cases yet for the SG2.

Have you had one previously? I'm running a siedio case right now that I really like. It is a hard rubbery feeling outside that gives some grip but it doesn't collect lint or get stuck in pockets. This is what I'm looking for.

barely there case is out..2 sellers on ebay.uk and amazon uk too..
but i can not find the other hard case

Yes I did. I liked it, nice looking, not too thick and had a nice solid feel to it when you grasped the phone. It slide in and out pretty easily and didn't pick up stuff from my pockets.

I'm going to try out the Barely There case for now... I've had those before too. Not nearly as protective but I'd rather try one of these out than some of the odd stuff we are seeing so far.

I ordered some gel cases from Deal Extreme that still haven't shown up yet - a little worried using my SGS II without a case (it's a bit slippery). I like the look of the Case-Mate barely there or Safe Skin - will pick one up in London week after next (I'm sure CPWH will have them...)

Case-mate has responded to my email this morning. They expect to have them available to the public in two weeks.

I always use the case-mate tough case on a of my phones, andhave one on pre order from mobile den, cpwh will bedding then for around £25 and the barely there will be much cheaper but to me does not provide grip or good protection.

I purchased this http://www.case-mate.eu.com/samsung-galaxy-s-2-gelli-case-clear.html and the screen protector that shipped with it is totally the wrong size and has no hole for the home button. it is too short and too narrow almost a galaxy s screen protector with no hole for the home button. I checked 3 different carphone warehouse and they are all the same. I emailed case mate and was told they knew the screen protector didn't fit but just use it anyway.
Really disappointed in the company. No reason at all this should be sold like this. The case is very nice however but at £13 its not cheap if you have no screen protector

I dont use screen protectors, hate em. Nevertheless I don't like the sound of an outfit shipping a piece that to my mind would be useless and not what was represented. What is your feelings on the fit of the case itself in regards to the cut outs and so on? Overall quality? Value?

This is now available on amazon uk, I have one on the way so I will post up with my impressions after I have it in hand.
