[Q] New Owner

Just got a Incredible 2 days ago, came from a Eris. Loved the Eris and I was running KaosFroyo. Loved the way it ran. First day I had the DInc I rooted it. Second day im trying out ROMs and im on skyraider vanilla so far and im not feeling it too much. So im wondering if anyone came from the Eris and what roms they would recommend. Im not that into sense based ones though.

I did the same exact switch except I came from tazzfroyo and went to skyraider. Once I spent like a day or two on that I didn't feel it so much either. I switched to cyanogenmod nightly builds and haven't regretted it since. Good luck and happy flashing!

Does CM have any issues with Wifi Tether?
Can the camera use all 8mp and 720p video?
im leaning towards CM right now but without wifi tether i can make the jump

Its broke in 6.1 but if you flash a different kernel or an earlier version, you shouldn't have a problem. I'm on nightly 10/24 with no complaints.

Confessions of a ROM and Kernel junkie

I don't know what's wrong with me.
I have 5 different ROM's on my SDCard.
Cyanogen
Athena
Redemption
Redeptive rEVOlution
Skyraider 3.5
Why can't I just stick with one of them ?
And the kernels. My God, the kernels. I'm losing track..
Now as soon as Athena sorts out FB Sync, I think I'm staying there.
Until.....aaaaaagh

Just so you know for next time, this should be in general.

We all get like that I started themeing a rom myself and since then I've stuck with it.

I can't pick one either.

I have omgb on my SD card and I periodically use it for a day every now and then but I just always seem to use it on days where I need a 100% working rom. Rather annoying how that works out.

I like ihtfp's offerings so I run with skyraider sense. As of lately I haven't switched much but I will switch to Athena once he provides a black status bar and fixes FB sync. Can't wait!

You are not alone! I've got 7 ROMs on mine, CM6.1, Ruby 2.0.0, Lithium Mod, ShadowROM, MIUI, Evervolv GB and OMGB. I use invisiblek #21 for all of them, love the battery life.

I don't think theres anything wrong new roms are like getting a new phone its fun I try and stock with one rom I had skyraider sense for a long time switched to athena when it came out and I love it kernels I stock to lou but I still try others I always end up back with a skyraider more power too ya if you use more than one!

Help with rom selection

I'm running azrael x and when it's working right it's great, but it's unstable and laggy a lot! I've got hardware version 003 I'm looking for a rom with working video recording 4g swype and reliable smooth snappy operation. So what should I try?

Azrael is a good ROM. I would try using autostarts and cachemate before blaming the ROM. I never had those issues with Azrael. MikFroyo is an awesome ROM as well, if you like sense. So are Myn, Unleashed and EViO. Also might want to give VaelPak a try (My fav, but I don't care about sense).

Myn's Warm TwoPointTwo RLS 5....EVERYTHING works. It is fast, stable and clean and support for the rom is topnotch.

Search around a try a couple. Once you have everything backed up properly, you can go through a handful different ROMs in a night. I gave Mikfroyo a good rundown last night and was happy with it. I'm currently on Virusrom Airbourne. Both very snappy. I maybe leaning towards heading back to Sense though.

Ended up with warm, it's awesome!! The camera issue was actually my fault, camera 1.00 was in my backup and when I restored it broke the camera and it appears that many roms don't replace that, so I flashed stock rooted and got camera 2.00 now it works great

Koni's Elite Series III
I've used quite a few ROMs, both sense and AOSP, but a great many have issues including CM7. What good is a ROM if the hardware you paid for doesn't work, or works sub-par? Enter Koni's Elite Series III. It's a sense ROM that has everything working 100%. Everything is completely optimized and the stock theme is amazing! It is currently my ROM of choice and no other ROM has stayed on my EVO this long.
I highly suggest you give it a try.

Synergy rc2 for me. I used deck 1.2 for a bit and that was great but i wanted to go with a sense rom since ive been using asop roms for quite awhile.

I NEVER thought I would say this until a few days ago, especially after the bad experience had with it in February, where I said I'd never go back, but I'm a MIUI junkie now.
It's pretty damn sweet.

I've used MIUI, and Synergy in the past month and I have to say that they're both really good ROMs, but I like Sense too much, so I'm on Synergy RC2.

Honestly I have tried quite a few including some ASOP and I find MikG to be great. I like the fact that it is based off of Sense. I did try ASOP (CM7) and it is fine but I was used to Sense and found ASOP to be kind of buggy and almost always missing something (many times there were fixes and work arounds but would take time and often a reflash to apply).
MikG is defiantly something for you to try. As for the kernel currently the stock kernel is really the recommended one with this ROM but I am sure there will be one developed soon. It is quite fast and includes many features from Sense 3.0. Since the kernel is stock there is no overclocking yet but every main feature is included and it seems quite stable for the modifications that have been done to it.
Right now since so much has changed with the transition from froyo to gingerbread there are quite a few updates that will require a full wipe and this gets annoying but I feel he is getting close to a version that will last a long time.
I guess from what everyone is saying I will have to check out Synergy though. Since I went to MikG I haven't read much about other roms lately and need to check this out!

I've played with far too many different roms to count.
Latest few though....
I liked the look of Synergy, but like CM7, I felt it was just a bit too much for this device. Just didn't feel snappy at all.
I've switched to the current Deck AOSP rom and love it.

Stock, unrooted with all bloatware running in background draining a battery in 5 hours.

For me it is MIKG2.2 although I tried synery more themes are available for mikg some i customize it to my liking

Any rom recommendations ?

So my sister hasn't updated her OG Evo ever since she rooted it, ( FreshRom 2.2? from about a year ago I believe.) and I was hoping that a native Evo 4g member would recommend me a good stable rom. I was going to do look for a rom myself but people weren't kidding about the massive amount of development the Evo has . I was thinking of getting her the FEARMEde/Rhyme Sense 3.5 Rom since I am currently running the Hydro Sense 3.5 Rom on the 3D, and its pretty smooth and flashy. Thanks in advance.
