[Q] New Hardware Camera Issues - EVO 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is there anyone else out there who has the newer hardware EVO who are having issues with the camera on custom kernels? As I understand it, the newest OTA update is a few camera fixes for the different hardware HTC started using.
From my understanding this is a known issue. I am using SetCPU on the stock kernel to at least underclock and save some battery, but would like to be able to use the full functionality without losing all access to the camera.
Just wondering if there is a fix? Or is anybody working on one currently? I have searched, but to no avail.

camera issue on defy cm7

Hello.
I have had this issue before and got the solution from one of the android forums but cant seem to find it again. I have the defy on cm7 and have the issue when I try use the camera it crashes.
Does anyone know how I fix this? Was it something to do with Wi-Fi and rebooting?
Thanks,
John
Hi John,
nearly one year later: Did you find the solution again.
My Defy decided that it might be fun to have that problem too...
Camera is crashing quite often but not always when in use.
I got a rooted Defy with Maniacs latest CM7 mod. Tried different camera apps as well...
Any ideas?

Video/Aido Sync Issues with Stock Camera.

After doing a search, it seems this might be an isolated case, but maybe someone can help regardless.
When I record video (no matter how long the video is) the audio is always out of sync, a little behind the video. I've tried setting it on a lower resolution, turned on "Power Shutter" (which I don't know the function of, to be honest) and doubt it's the ROM since it's done this since stock, and I'm on CND 1.5.0 now.
Any ideas what could be causing this? Has anyone else had this issue besides me?
You might have some hardware issues. Hard to tell, but it does sound like a software issue too.
The only thing tripping me is that you said you had the problem on stock which makes it seem like a hard issue.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA
Geez, I hope it's not a hardware issue.
Does anyone have any suggestions for alternative camera apps? I think it might help me figure out if it is indeed a software issue.

[Q] S3 camera forces reboot taking flash pics. T999

I wanted to ask someone with expertise regarding my d2tmo.. I am experienced with flashing roms and anything with rooting and trying roms. I wanted to ask you about a camera issue I am having. The problem is when my camera is using flash to snap pics and also sometimes when making videos without flash my system crashes and forces reboot. Before seemed like was only in aosp roms and i was thinking it could be just that cm10 bug with the cameras, but then I noticed it was happening in Tw roms and so i odin flashed stock firmware and the problem still persists. I asked someone before and they told me it for sure was a software issue and not hardware, but since I was on stock seems like could be hardware. Have you heard if this happening before? could you offer me some kind of insight for this? I am sending the phone back to tmo and getting a warranty replacement for another issue ( and yeah i triangle awayed lol) , but i was wondering if this would happen still with the new phone if i decided to flash some custom roms.. Is there a chance that samsung could of improved components or did anything different since I bought my s3 last october? I am sorry for the long story, but I really can't find help anywhere else and I really use my camera alot for work.
thanks in advance.

[Q] CM 11 audio issues on d2tmo?

Since moving to the CM 11 nightlies, I have have been experiencing an issue where randomly, notification/alarm audio will stop working completely until a reboot. This has obviously been a little troublesome since I use my phone as my alarm clock - and to not have the sound go off in the morning because the phone decided to stop making noise in the middle of the night is a pain (I've at least fixed this by setting the alarm to vibrate as well.)
Has anyone else experienced this issue, and does anyone have any recommendations on how to fix? This has persisted across multiple nightlies, both via updated and wiping/reflashing. Thanks.

CM is known for audio issues, mainly on nightlies. Stable versions don't usually have those problems. I've never heard of this particular one though. Are you running any other mods or tweaks? Xposed, root apps, different kernel than the "stock" CM one? Or anything you have to flash via recovery?

Nothing special, only things I flash are the CM ROMs themselves and the appropriate gapps. In terms of root apps, just the usual (titanium, helium, superuser.) I'm going to do a complete wipe and reflash when the next stable Kitkat build is released and see if the issue persists. If it does at that point, then maybe I think a bug might need to be created.

Camera+flash=reboot

I did a search and found relayed posts for related issues but no resolution.
If I try to use the flash with the camera on my phone it reboots almost every time. Sometimes I get to take one but then the second will cause a reboot.
This happened with the stock camera on rooted debloated deknoxed stock KitKat and jellybean. I can't remember ICS... Also happens in the couple third party cameras I've tried.
One possible cause I read was a crappy aftermarket battery. I've tried 3 different stock batteries. One is from my girlfriends s3 that does not have this issue. I had it with all of them.
Flash works just fine as a flashlight. Camera works just fine without flash. Picture quality with the KitKat camera doesn't seem as good though.
Not sure what is left to check.

you could always Odin Stock again and see if the problem is still there or you can make a backup of your current rom then clean flash a new custom rom and see if that fixes the issue but i've got no other idea then that sorry
Could be kernel related.. The fact flashlight works fine but flash doesn't is very interesting. If you're under volted you should set it back to standard just to see if it was that. It can be weird. If not, try wiping the data for the camera by going into app manager. Always worth a try.
The issue has been around as long as I can remember with this phone. It has survived multiple clean and dirty flashes of stock and stockish jelly bean and KitKat.
I've used stock and now cnexus' modified kernels. With and without xposed. Stock and 3rd party cameras.
Not that I record many videos but I tried video plus flash since posting this. It worked just fine. Far from extensive testing though.
I've been thinking that it could be hardware for awhile. But figured I'd see if someone else had seen this and if anyone had a real resolution.
