Hello.
I have had this issue before and got the solution from one of the android forums but cant seem to find it again. I have the defy on cm7 and have the issue when I try use the camera it crashes.
Does anyone know how I fix this? Was it something to do with Wi-Fi and rebooting?
Thanks,
John
Hi John,
nearly one year later: Did you find the solution again.
My Defy decided that it might be fun to have that problem too...
Camera is crashing quite often but not always when in use.
I got a rooted Defy with Maniacs latest CM7 mod. Tried different camera apps as well...
Any ideas?

Hi this is my first post on xda, and I'm really hoping someone knows how to deal with this issue.
First of all let me just say that CM7 on the Moto Defy absolutely rocks! I do have one small quirk which I've yet to find any other Defy + CM7 user complain on.
Whenever I use the stock camera app and set my flash to "On", the flash turns on and STAYS on (like a flashlight). When I take a photo, the flash turns off though and works normally for succeeding photos but only until I close the camera app. Once I open up the camera app again, the LED flash stays on again until I take a photo.
I know it's kinda nitpicking but it's been annoying the heck out of me since I flashed CM7 (no other complaints really....wifi works alright and I even managed to get wireless tether to work in infrastructure mode with a WPA2 passkey). I even signed up on XDA just to know if somebody else is even experiencing the same issue.
Anyways, hoping someone out there's got an answer....
Are you just on CM7 RC1v2 or did you install a nightly on top?
I noticed the same in RC1 but some subsequent nightly fixed that. I'm currently on cm7-110813-2132-NIGHTLY btw.
Just RC1, still hesitant to flash a nightly build....Do you think extracting the the camera apk from that nightly and pushing it to the system/lib folder will solve the issue? I once extracted a camera apk from a nightly (not sure which) just to get touch to focus....it works alright but the flash issue is still there.
I don't know but you could try.
However, I've installed every other nightly and haven't had any issues. I'm currently on
cm7-110813-2132-NIGHTLY - but I've seen some commend on the CM7 main dev thread that people are also very happy with cm7-110808-0622-NIGHTLY-Jordan.
tried replacing the RC1 camera with the one from cm7-110813-2132-NIGHTLY....flash issue still there, although now touching the screen to focus will turn it off. However, on the camera's first start, the flash stays on again just the same. Oh well, guess I'll just have to live with this minor annoyance (on an otherwise excellent ROM) until RC2 or the Final build comes out Thanks for the reply twa_priv!
Hi everyone, I don't really know if this is the right place to post this, so sorry fo that.
I have the Galaxy Nexus Italian version from saturday, and I've rooted it, but kept the original rom (4.0.1 not branded).
Two days ago I got an error on the Camera: "Camera error, impossible to connect to the camera". I've tried a reboot, but nothing, so I've turned off the phone, and kept the battery out for 5 minuts, and I've solved the problem.
Today I got the same error, and nothing is working, the smile protection unlock thing, the camera, Skype, everything that uses the camera.
Tried same tricks above, but still getting the errore.
Any ideas?
Thanks, Gabriel
I had a similar problem on my Nexus One. I solved it by pushing on the camera-lens and wiggle it a bit, then tried to open the app again and it worked. Seems like i had some electronic fault on the camera.
Worth a try...
Thanks for the tip daff.
Anyway I've solved installing the Android Revolution HD rom 1.3.3, but I'm not sure the bug could be solved just with a wipe, or reinstalling the original rom.
Thanks
Ok the problem was not solved with the new ROM.
But I've finally found how to fix this, even if not to the end. I found that wiping the cache when the problem comes out, I get it solved until the next time... Anyway I still not understand how it comes out, or wich app is doing this (if it's an app problem).
No one is having the same camera issue? thank and merry xmas!
Hey folks. I've searched in xda and other forums (including mighty google), but none of the answers resolved my problem.
I've had 4.2 camera and photosphere was working perfectly fine Time had passed and I decided to use it again.
Problem is that I cant align blue dot in Landscape mode as well as portrait. I have to chase the blue dot and when I finally get it, screen starts to flicker and nothing happens. I have tried on 2 different ROMs and yes I did factory reset.
I found some folks saying that If you put your phone on a flat surface for few seconds it will resolve the issue, but it didnt work for me.
I'm gonna be traveling overseas and would love to capture my trip experience with photosphere. Any ideas how to resolve this? I dont think its a gyroscope issue (hardware).
Thanks in advance.
Bump!
Attached video. Can someone suggest of a possible fix? I've tried 2 TW ROMs +1 CM10.1 ROM, same issue.
Hey guys,
i have been running Resurrection Remix on my z1c for a long time, it has been quite nice, till the random reboots started and i had massive battery drain. I waited 2 Updates and tried to fix it using some extended methods which i gathered in this forum.
Problem is, i found a good ROM (http://forum.xda-developers.com/son...nt/rom-z5mx-rom7-5-0extended-battery-t3227779) but now i am having huge troubles with my camera. A new install didn't fix the problem, another Camera app didn't solve it either.
The Problem is, the cam doesn't react properly, it has no automatic focus function or even shoots any pictures.
When i try to take a picture, it just freezes and doesn't react anymore. Just locking the screen and closing the app through recent apps will solve the frozen screen. I would have posted this in the same thread as the ROM, but i am not allowed to, since normally i don't post, since all the problems are usually solved by looking through the Threads,
thanks in advance!:good:

When you flashed Z5 Feature|MX ROM|7.8.0|Extended battery did you put a stock Z1C LP FW 23.4.A.1.216 on first.?
If you just put it onto your SD card and flashed it, then it's no wonder you're having problems as Resurrection Remix is a CM based rom. You need to have a stock folder/partition structure in place before you flash 'Z5 Feature|MX ROM|7.8.0|Extended battery'
The other thing you could try is DRM FUNCTION RESTORATION FOR UB DEVICE, maybe the camera is complaining about the lack of TA partition.
I have started with the stock ROM, and used cm13, and even updated to the newest fully stock ROM 3.2.4 and to no avail.
The camera app either force closes or nothing shows up on screen. Every once in awhile the front camera will work, but I'll click the icon to switch to the rear camera and no effect, it just stays on fron t camera.
I've tried many third-party apps, I've tried cm camera fix, everything I can think. Clearing data and coach for the app the whole shabang.
Now I'm ordering a brand new camera module and I will see what happens. But any help and any information will be much appreciated thanks
Was it working when you bought it...what did you do to it before it broke?
it definitely seems like a hardware issue, had it been a software issue a custom rom or 3rd party camera might have resolved it and since you have tried many roms and reverted back to stock too so it doesnt look like a software issue.

Funny you should ask, because I honestly don't know when it actually started but I do remember wiping userdata so I could unencrypt my phone and thereafter was when I noticed it no longer worked. Don't know if those 2 things correlate because I flashed back to stock (which is encrypted) and still no luck
Did you solve the camera problem ???
