I didn't know the G2 had a stock recovery. When I tried to enter recovery from fastboot it gave me a warning triangle and required a battery pull.

It puts stock recovery just incase you loaded an invalid recovery img or something not compatible, therefore when u attempt to access recovery it wouldn't load. Mainly put this up because I was going in circles trying to with stuff posted on the irc. For example, I flashed insecure, and it just froze at the htc loading screen.

Yup, just the original recovery program that came with the phone. In case you want it for any reason, or want to put the phone back to stock stock everything stock... or in case you need a recovery which is confirmed working.
It will only allow you to flash signed updates.
Thanks for this image. I knew someone would post it, so I didn't bother

I havent tried it but.. You would have to revert to stock, using the other guide. Then flash this to remove the clockworkmod recovery.
That should be all stock, if im not mistaken.

Odd. My phone did not come with a recovery. I got it the Oct 3rd from RadioShack, so maybe that's why. When I tried to enter recovery from fastboot, it would give me a screen with a warning triangle and needed a battery pull. That's why I was wondering what in the world the stock recovery was.

NO, your phone most certainly had a stock recovery, you just didn't press the Volume Up and Power button at the same time when your phone got to the "warning triangle". If you'd done that you would have gotten to the recovery menu.

not necessarily; BUT if ur softbricked, you can enter fastboot, put on the stock recovery; and in theory do a system wipe, and you could be fine?

Going by that error, I'm gonna assume your still s-on. You might want to start here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=842495
Read the whole thing, but at least have the answers to the 2nd post before posting up you question.
Also, nothing against paul or any maker of the apps that do stuff like this, but really all this rooting/rom flashing stuff needs to be done the manual way. Apps mess up sometimes and could put you in a bad spot. At least if you did it manually you would know what you did wrong, and hopefully catch it before you reboot.
You might also want to post in the visionary thread as maybe these guys know of a fix for whatever the app is doing.

Reboot bootloader, select recovery, restore a nandroid, or flash a rom. It wipes the kernel when you change hboot

How screwed am I? Phone won't turn on at all, can't get to recovery

I have a Galaxy Nexus that yesterday started to reset itself, freeze on the ICS boot logo and then reboot, rinse and repeat. I got it into fastboot mode, unlocked the bootloader to reset it, re locked and attempted to boot only for it to freeze again.
So again I unlocked the bootloader, to attempt to reflash the factory images from the Google, when trying to flash the bootloader I got the error " FAILED (status read failed (too many links))
attempted to fastboot reboot-bootloader and the phone crashed and now won't turn on, computer won't detect it, can't get into recovery or get any signs of life at all.
Any suggestions? Or am I royally screwed?
So you can't even get to the bootloader? If you can, flash clockwork mod then flash the cwm flashable version of the ROM. (Stock ROM that is)
If not, you are pretty much screwed IMO, but you'll never know...

This is TWRP 2.2.1.3 repackaged with the kernel from the OTA. This is ONLY for people on the jb OTA that have a "hanging" recovery.
Note that backup and restore of /boot (rom kernels) won't work. So after a restore you'll need to reflash the rom. But hey.. hopefully you won't be bricked
Of course, the standard disclaimer applies that you flash at your own risk.

If you were rooted before the update (I believe) the su files were left intact. You just need to reinstall superuser. I recommend getting SuperSU from the market. It will update the su files when you first launch it. If you still don't get root it has options to clean up and reinstall su.
With root back you can use the adb method; which is what I did. And it worked perfectly.

I would wait.
Since boot partition is not supported yet, you need to manually flash kernel.
So twrp didnt work on jb because of new kernel, 3.1 instead of 2.6?
So when twrp for jb, supports restore of boot partition(kernel), and someone restores to a ics rom, will the recovery work? Or will need to restore recovery too?

Yup I shoulda waited. Tried to flash the new CM 4.1.1 nightly and wouldn't boot. Then tried to restore backup of official JB and won't boot either. So stuck on Asus boot screen now. Weird, yesterday tried to restore to Hydro from official JB and wouldn't boot, so I then restored my official JB back up and it worked but not anymore. Is thus an official brick?

Use the latest twrp.
You can get it from http://teamw.in.
It can be flashed via fastboot as well using

fastboot erase userdata should wipe data.
It could also be a problem with the ruu process running on your phone.

Can someone help me out unlock the bootloader and root my phone. I really wanna root my phone and get custom roms. Please help me out. Thank You.
So, its S-OFF and you need to unlock bootloader to install Clockworkmod recovery, correct? I did it with HTC Dev's site ( www htcdev com / bootloader )
Just followed the steps and I got my bootloader unlocked, then installed recovery and ran the root.zip file from there.

I'm a newbie at this and I have no clue how any of threads are going to help my situation. I want to root my phone its Verizon carrier branded HTC incredible 2 phone. Its suppose to be CDMA but I got it unlocked by someone to make it work for GSM. Now I wanna root it i had someone gain me s-off but couldn't unlock the bootloader. I can't even open up recovery from my cell phone it gives me the phone with a hazard sign error. I wanna root it so bad but had no progress to root after s-off. Can you please help me root. My firware is 2.2.1

This is the last help I'm giving other then that Google will be your friend. Power down the phone. Hold volume - (down) and power. This will take you to your bootloader screen. Hit volume up or down and scroll to fastboot hit power button. FIND the cwm .img from one of those threads and flash that through adb on your computer using the command given in one of those links to Root threads. You phone is S off you already had root. That's all the help I'm willing to give.

S-off is unlocking the bootloader. Basicalky taking the normal security flags or checks that happen during boot process n dropping/overriding them.
