I`ve been trying to get Onenote to sync with hotmail, with no luck. i go into the office hub, go to onenote, click on "all" and then hit "refresh" to sync. I get the following error message
"this notebook has either been renamed or deleted from the server. If this notebook has been renamed, do one of the following: change ntoe notebook name back to what it was, or delete this notebook from your phone and reopen it"
I can`t delete the notebook - the only one on my phone is called "personal (web)" and I`m not allowed to delete it, phone says it cnnot delete as its the one where default notes go.
I`ve tried creating a new onenote file on the web, but that doesn`t seem to help either.
Can anyone help??
one of the major deciding factors for WP7 was the Office integration, in particular Onenote.
I found that syncing isn't as easy as it should be.
BUt this guy managed to sort it out
here
hope it helps
Very helpful link. Thanks!
I have now fixed the sync problem by recreating the missing notebook "Personal (Web)" on my skydrive in the correct folder.
However, there are 2 niggles
1) The section names in the notebook will not sync. On skydrive the section name is "Phone" and on the phone its "untitled Section" - a manual refresh doesnt change this.
2) New pages created on the phone will not automatically sync to skydrive when saved. I have to manually force a sync by doing a refresh in the "pages" secion on the phone. I have Automatic Syncronisation switched on in Onenote settings.
New pages created on skydrive in the same notebook sync automatically to the phone without having to force a sync.
Are you getting the asame behaviour?

This is obviously operator error.
Recreate a notebook with the same name as the one you weren't supposed to delete on SkyDrive.
Same thing would happen if you were syncing to skydrive from desktop onenote.

Why even bother to send a reply if you are going to be so arrogant and unhelpful? read Hboos` reply to give you a lesson on how to be genuinely helpful. If you can`t bother to reply properly, dont bother replying at all.

Sorry, but I think I missed the answer also. I tried to sync my OneNote Mobile with skydrive for to have an opportunity to sync with my pc. Unfortunately OneNote 2010 on my pc and my windows mobile had different opinions where to find the Personal (Web). And so I deleted all the folders in skydrive and was going to start again. But now I have a folder on the phone I cannot delete and I cannot have another one as it seems. I recreate the folder structure on skydrive and build a new personal (web), but my phone does not believe that this one exists.

I had this problem too and it was a little weird way that sorted it out but I'll try to remember
I don't have my Omnia 7 temporarily but try this out.
1. Go to OneNote on your computer and create a new notebook to sync to "My Documents" on SkyDrive.
2. Name it Personal (Web)
3. Create a few random notes and pages on it.
4. Try to sync your phone now.
5. Hopefully it has created a new note called "Unfiled" or something and the Personal Web should work now
6. Set Personal Web as your default
7. Delete Unfiled..
Does that work?
As I said earlier, I don't have the OMnia 7 with me so the instructions might be a load of tosh
Let me know!
notebook lost on skydrive
Unfortunately it did not work. I build that new notebook on skydrive, but the phone still cannot see it.
maybe scoob will help you.
if not, my omnia 7 is coming back on fri so will help you then
did you make the notebook from your desktop Onenote program?
you can try sync a random notebook as in the link before and then set that as default on your phone.
then you should be able to delete the PErsonal (web) one from your phone.
try that!
I just tried that and it worked. I created another notebook from my pc on skydrive, connected on the phone via browser, set it as default and deleted the personal (web).
Thanks for your help, thought I get crazy because I just had organized everything on my new phone.
Can't Sync OneNote Skydrive & Windows Phone 7
I didn't see this thread beforehand and deleted the Personal (Web) notebook from my SkyDrive to start and now I can't get past the error when I try to Sync my windows phone with the SkyDrive as I only have the one notebook - Personal (Web) - on my phone and don't have anything else to make the default. Any ideas on how to fix?
I can't seem to figure out if you can create a new notebook on the phone then set that as the default.
Any assistance wouldl be much appreciated.
it kinda helps if you actually read the thread too.. it's all been solved
just check the post above yours.
Please forgive me, I am having troublle following the directions
Please forgive an old man who has gone through all the posts and tried each step but is still having problems. I've condensed the post(s) below and put my comments/experience in CAPS hoping it is clearer and makes more sense than my prior post.
Sorry if I wasn't clear in my prior post, on my Windows Phone 7, I only have 1 notebook displayed - Personal (Web) - and when i "TAP A NOTEBOOK TO REFRESH IT", I get the "can't find notebook" error.
I have tried to create a new notebook called "Personal (Web)" in the folder My Documents on Skydrive but the phone doesn't seem to recognize it on they syn.
I have also put a few other notebooks into the My Documents folder on Skydrive and tried the sync on the phone but still get the "Can't find notebook" error. I can't seem to figure out how to push another notebook to the phone so I can then make that one the default on the phone.
Any suggestions. If I've missed something in these posts, can you please point it out to me so i can fix it as I thought i hit each step but am still floundering. I know some others had a similar problem (posts here and elsewhere) but, at least, they had other notebooks already sync'd to their phone so they could name a new notebook as default. I just have the 1 "Personal (Web) that i can't get to sync to the server."

you can try sync a random notebook as in the link before and then set that as default on your phone. I CAN CREATE NEW NOTEBOOKS AND SYNC WITH SKYDRIVE BUT MY PHONE ONLY HAS THE PERSONAL (WEB) NOTEBOOK ON IT AND, ANYTIME I PRESS THE SYNC BUTTON ON THE PHONE, I GET THE 'CAN'T FIND NOTEBOOK' ERROR
then you should be able to delete the PErsonal (web) one from your phone.
try that!

I just tried that and it worked. I created another notebook from my pc on skydrive, connected on the phone via browser, set it as default and deleted the personal (web).
Thanks for your help, thought I get crazy because I just had organized everything on my new phone. AS ABOVE, I CREATED ANOTHER NOTEBOOK ON MY PC AND SYNC'D TO SKYDRIVE. NOT SURE WHAT "CONNECTED ON THE PHONE VIA BROWSER, SET AS DEFAULT" MEANS. I CAN'T SEE ANYWHERE IN EITHER ONENOTE ON THE PC OR ONENOTE ON THE WEB HOW TO SET A DEFAULT NOTEBOOK ????
Tell you what, i'll recreate the error and then put up the instructions in a more clear and concise manner.
That would be very much appreciated! Bill
My solution:
- delete everything notebooks (what you can) on phone
- start IE on phone
- go to skydrive.live.com -> My documents
- try open (from IE) notebooks on skydrive
this causes add a skydrive notebooks to phone OneNote notebooks
Ok
If you have accidentally deleted the Personal (WEB) notebook from Skydrive and are encountering the "CAN'T FIND NOTEBOOK" error when trying to delete or sync it from your phone...
Here are the instructions
1. Ensure that your PHONE browser is set to view the mobile version of websites (found in settings)
2. Ensure that your phone is set to sync automatically Settings/applications/office/onenote
3. On your PC, go to your skydrive and create a new Notebook...call it "Personal" and rename the Section "Unfiled notes"
4. on your PHONE, go to office.live.com and login and click on your new notebook and then click on the icon
5. your PHONE will now automatically sync with the new notebook
6. on your screen you should see the notebooks on your PHONE. One of the pages of your notebook will have a picture of 3 pages fanned out...that Page is your default one.
7. click and hold the "Unfiled Notes" in the new Personal notebook you just downloaded
8. select "set as default"
9. now you can delete the PERSONAL (WEB) notebook from your phone by pressing the trash can icon.
Worked perfectly! Now why couldn't a 1+ hour phone call with MS support or the multitude of support pages they have for winphone 7 not post the 4 simple steps! THANK YOU!
The sync with One Note on the Windows Phone 7 is a bit confusing but here is your solution.
1) Create a One Note Notebook on your Windows Live Account.
2) Under Properties of the FOLDER containing the One Note Notebook on your Windows Live Account, click of the Share option and a drop down menu will appear to "get a link".
3) Copy the goofy long link that Microsoft Live give you and email to yourself to be received on your phone.
4) Open up your email and your One Note will now show up on the phone.
5) If that doesn't work, then simply sign onto Internet Explorer using your Windows 7 Phone and sign on to Windows Live Account. Browse to your One Note Notebook using your WP7 phone and click Open in One Note and the Notebook will then open up in One Note.
I had the same problem and the above worked for me. I think I skipped step 3 and 4 above and went direct to step 5.
This will work. Just give it a try.

i have all my contacts in MS Outlook 2003... The sync with ActiveSync worked nice.... but if i now delet the relationship on my device in AS it deletes all my contacts on the phone because they belong to the partnership... is there any way to delete the partnership and keep the contacts?
If you've sync'd with Outlook already then your contacts will be safe on your PC. Let Activesync delete them from your PPC and then establish new partnership and download them back to the PPC.
I only noticed this happening on my O2 XDA Orbit recently. Not sure why but my contacts are all there thankfully.

thats impossible... when you delete the partnership it does not delete the Emails, Contacts or Tasks etc...
When you delete partnership it will ask you to delete synced FILES, but does NOT touch Outlook data.
i tried it again.... here is the procedure
No contacts on Phone
all contacts in outlook on PC
no partnerships on pc or artemis
create partnership...
sync contacts...
contacts now in outloo on pc AND on artemis...
delete the partnership in active sync ON THE PHONE...
all contacts are deleted from the device but remain in outlook
i want the following
sync the contacts and then delete the partnership on the device.. result should be that the contacts "belong" to the phone..
I did just this a few days ago, synced, deleted the Partnership and kept the contacts. Like Radek Hulán said, it asked me whether to delete synced files, i tipped Yes, the device worked a few seconds and then the partnership was gone, leaving the contacts and everything on the device.
Try Syncing the device, then disconnect the Phone from your PC and delete the Partnership on the Phone itself (For me it sounded like you deleted the partnership through your PC on your PPC) and if that doesn't help, do the Microsoft Trick: Just try it over and over again, with the same routine, after a few times it will work, it's always been like that
I have a T-Mobile Dash and am connecting it to several Windows XP machines using ActiveSync 4.5. I haven't been able to test this with an older version of ActiveSync because not one of the machines will let me fully uninstall 4.5 and install an older copy. The older install always insists that I have to install 4.5 even if I already have.
My problem is this: Any time I try to delete a relationship between a PC and my smartphone, Activesync deletes every one of my contacts off the phone.
Ideally, I would be able to sever the relationship between a computer and my PDA and keep all my contacts on my PDA. Near as I can tell, this is impossible. And it's apparently that way intentionally, though I can't for the life of me guess why. My contacts are being held hostage by my work laptop and nothing I can do can separate them from it.
It does not matter if I uncheck Contacts in the checkboxes of things to delete, it still deletes all contacts when any relationship is deleted.
The contact are still safe on the computer, but I simply *cannot* delete a relationship without losing all my contacts.
If I disconnect the phone from the PC and go into ActiveSync, only the following menu options are supported:
1. Options
2. Schedule (grayed out)
3. Status
4. Add Server Source
5. Connections
6. Connect via Bluetooth
None of the above options allow me to delete a relationship specifically. Just choose what items I plan on syncing or what connection (USB/IR/Bluetooth) I might want to connect with.
If I choose 1. Options, I'm presented with the checkboxes to select what things I want to sync with my PC.
[X] Contacts
[_] Calendar
[_] E-mail
[_] Tasks
[_] Favorites (grayed out)
[_] Files (grayed out)
[_] Media (grayed out)
If I uncheck "Contacts" and click "Done" I'm presented with this <sarcasm>wonderful</sarcasm> dialog box:
"To proceed, ActiveSync must remove all Contacts synchronized to your device using ActiveSync. Select OK to continue"
My question is **WHY??** WHY can I not sever the connection between the computer and my contacts??? Who programmed this abomination that thought that permanently tying them together irrevokably was a GOOD idea?
Hi all,
I had the same problem and found a workaround. ActiveSync will delete those contacts/... only if they belong to only one relationship and if you try to delete this particular relationship. So, what is the solution? Assign your contacts to two sync relationships! If you delete either of them, the contacts will not be touched.
In my case, there was a sync relationship to mail2web.com for push email and another relationship to the PC for contacts. After reinstalling the PC's OS I needed to delete the old relationship. I was able to preserve the contacts by syncing them first to mail2web.com.
Good luck!
Regards,
Michael
PS: I have to add that it is very useful to have a functional backup program for your mobile phone. Sprite Backup works very nicely for me.

I have the same problem with my HTC Diamond (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=437729). BUT unlikely I can´t get my contacts by new relationship to my phone back now. ;o(
the default setting for my Active Sync is "replace items on phone". So when I initially setup my Orbit, all the data on my PDA are being wiped out, including the contact.

Alright guys...
I sorta figured a way around all this. So if you've gone and sync'd your device to your PC, not knowing that your data will dissapear from your device if you delete the partnership... The simplest way is to get a backup software, such as SPB Backup or Sprite Backup and back up only your PIM info (contacts, calendars, etc.). Next delete the partnership you don't want to have anymore. What I did with mine was I deleted ALL partnerships I had (Exchange and PC), and so I had nothing on there. Then restore the PIM file back and you should have all your contacts and calendar info, only but you don't have any partnerships. You can now re-setup partnerships with different sources, just make sure you uncheck the stuff u don't want sync'd I hope that helps.
I don't know if this is help to anyone but this is not an ActiveSync problem at all, it is WM6.1 problem.
You ask how do I know that for sure, I'll explain...
I used to have a WM5 phone until I replaced it few days ago with a WM6.1 phone (HTC Jade)
The ActiveSync I use on my Windows XP PC is 4.5 and I have not changed it with the new phone.
Before, with my WM5 phone I used to Sync my contacts with my phone and then delete the partnership with my phone every time, then create a new partnership each time I reconnect. Maybe you think its strange but this how I used to do it.
My phone contacts were never deleted, EVER EVER EVER on the coarse of 2 years.
Now Yesterday I connected my new mobile WM6.1 for the first time to add my Outlook contacts to it, disconnected and did what I always do which is delete the partnership with my phone. I later reconnected the phone to install an application and then BAM all my contacts are GONE.
So you see the ActiveSync 4.5 app is the same but with WM6.1 it behaved differently which definitely means this a bug or by design in WM6.1 ONLY and not older windows mobile versions.
It also have nothing to do with Windows Vista like someone previously said because my pc OS is Windows XP SP2.
Its another Microsoft mess that we have to fix or live with.
I wonder when are they going to take their work seriously?
Can anyone come up with a tweak or registry fix in WM6.1 to fix it?
Solution that worked for me
I think I figured out a good solution - wored for me.
Go to your My Device Root folder in the File Manager. Copy the pim file, then paste it in another folder on the device to back it up.
Go to Active Sync - delete the relationship.
Now for the scary part - go to your Contacts and they are all gone.
Go back to you My Device root, rename your pim file to something like pimOLD. Then go get your backed up copy, and paste it back into your default My Device folder.
Scary again, go to Contacts, they are all gone. Now the act of desperation - I did a hard boot (removed the battery) - restarted the device. Device now see's your new PIM, contacts are all back - yet no Active Sync relationship. YEA! MISSION ACCOMPLISHED.
So I downloaded wm6.0, 6.1, 6.5 and 5.0 simulators from Microsoft. I tested deleting partnership with each of those (On Windows Mobile itself). So it seems that 6.0 and 6.1 have this problem and delete your personal information when u delete the partnership. 5.0 and 6.5 did NOT delete the contacts/calendars/tasks upon deleting the partnership.
At this point backing up your /PIM.VOL file is the best way of backing up your data if you have to delete partnership.
Also pim backup is a nice freeware that accomplishes the same thing.
Unfortunately I do not have a windows mobile device now but when I had my Tilt, I remember deleting the partnership so many times and I never had this problem.
Wonder if it's related to the build of Windows Mobile.

Like many who probably frequent this board I like to experiment with my device and will wipe my PPC every couple of weeks. I also have been syncing with Exchange through ActiveSync but was looking for a way to severe that Exchange sync relationship without loosing all of my 300+ contacts on the device. I was also looking for a way to backup those contacts to another source so I wasn't locked down to an Exchange sync via ActiveSync to get them back again.
I recently discovered the Microsoft MyPhone application which will let you back up your data to their server. Unforunately it will not backup data that is currently being synced with Exchange.
Using the method suggested by mkrumpe about manually backing up and replacing the PIM file I was able to break my relationship with the Exchange server and then recover my PIM data. Once I did that I was then able to back up my data with Microsoft MyPhone since it no longer picked up the Exchange sync relationship.
I thought this same info and process might benefit others as well who want to break a sync with Exchange, recover their previously synched data and find another non-exchange method to back up this data.
Now I have a way to backup my contacts without having to use Exchange and I was able to keep all 300+ contacts even though I deleted the Exchange sync relationship and may not go back to synching with Exchange (do to upcoming policy changes at my company)

hi everyone,
i've got this error now which says "Cannot synchronize with Outlook profile you are using, because a different profile was previously set up or the profile is password-protected
Please open Outlook using the appropriate profile."
please please please how do i solve this i've not been able to sink my contacts, calender and notes back in and its going to destroy my week if i dont resolve this problem.
thanks so much in advance,
jason
Well, sync errors like this typically occur at one of 2 places. EITHER the connection between Outlook/Exchange and ActiveSync OR between ActiveSync and your Device.
What have your tried so far? Simply removing the device from ActiveSync on the main computer solves this error most often. The other deeper, yet common fix is to uninstall BOTH Outlook and ActiveSync, then reboot and re-install and recreate the device profile with ActiveSync.
Hope this helps.
Thanks for your reply Nate,
I've tried removing the partnership from activesync and deleting active sync from my computer and restarting. But that does not cure the problem
If i completly uninstall office and activesync. Will my contacts be there when i reinstall? Also, this is rather stupid, but if i uninstall office, my documents will still be on my harddrive right?
thanks in advance.
Jason
i'm willing to uninstall office, please can someone tell me how to backup my contacts, calender and notes.
or will this remain on my computer and once i reinstall office it will go back in.
stab in the dark .....
have you actually fully reset your device and also turned your pc off and restarted it fully....???
i have similar problems using outlook, but always find a reset of either of both devices cures the problem.....
yes i have done that.
its now a outlook problem isnt it?
how do i delete profiles from outlook 2007? maybe that will solve it.
please anyone, feel free to give me ideas on how to solve this
Correct, it seems like an Outlook issue now. My experience with Outlook 2007 is limited so I'm not sure if it follows the rules of previous versions, but in the past ALL of your outlook information is stored in 1 file with a file extension of .pst. Run a search on your PC for a *.pst file and tell us what it finds. Assuming that you find one then O2007 follows the same conventions as earlier versions. If you find multiple, then save them all. Bear in mind that the actual email account settings are kept separately from the .pst file and you will have to either export/import them or just recreate the email account after reinstall.
Uninstall Outlook/Office and then REBOOT! Then Re-install.Go into outlook 1st and go through the initial email account setup, then run a search for .pst files again and drop the most current down over top of the one newly created with the re-install.
Let us know how it goes and remember to go slow.
If you google for the error code 8503001f and also the other one you posted about, 85010014, they both point to errors within microsoft outlook itself - one possibility is due to upgrading outlook and having/creating multiple profiles.
There are too many links to post but I saw a few which appeared to include good solutions - some of these are direct from the microsoft support site.
Don't know if this helps but I found thousands of hits with what appears to be your problem.

For Profiles in Outlook 2007:
Control Panel > Mail > Profiles
BACK UP YOUR MAIL!!
File > Import / Export.
Export as file
PST
Save it.
Now delete all profiles in Control Panel > Mail > Profiles
Then just create one profile and call it outlook
Then restore your data.
thanks so much for the reply guys.
i dont know what the hell is up with outlook but after uninstalling active sync and removing my email account from outlook it syncing again.
very fustrating and thanks you guys again for your input. its great to know people like you guys are here to help.
cheers again

p.s. i think its because i upgraded from office 2003 to 2007 that cause so many conflicts.
:EDIT2:
Uppon searching means of getting them back i discovered windows live help forums and it appears alot of people have been having their contacts deleated and they can be retrived by a windows live employee adding them to your account again.
Thus i beleive this may have been coninsidence and not linked.
Thankyou anyway for reading.
:/EDIT2:
Hey, a while ago i set up msn on my phone and stupidly made it so that contacts emails where added to my adress book. This added something like 400 emauils that i really didn't want on my contacts list.
So i used a program to remove them all, this worked a charm. Now i go onto msn and i have 6 contacts on my phone, on my pc i ahve a full list. I tryed syncing to update them that didn;t work, i tryed even telling it to add emails to my addressbook to no avail.
Im a bit lost as too what to do, i cant even find windows live messenger on my remove programs list to reinstall it.
It is possible to have a contact list on windows live mobiel without having it saved onto your phone isn't it?
Thanks.
:EDIt:
now after trying sync to my pc i no longr have windows live messenger contacst either.
I think its about time I add something to the forum
Same thing happened to me, what i did was:
1. Log into messenger on your pc
2. Go to Options
3. Click on Privacy
4. Midway the screen you will see Contacts List and a button View. Click on view to see who has you on their list
5. You will see a list of all the contacts who have you and if you right click on them, you can add them to your contacts. Do this for all the contacts.
Only problem is, is that you will have to put them back into the category of your choice. But the ones who you have blocked will remain blocked
Hope this helps.
EDIT: oh and to prevent your email adds from adding to your contacts, re-setup your email address in windows live messenger on your mobile, and there should be an option of not syncing the contacts. I can't remember exactly what the option is called but its definitely there.

I can help you with that too
1. Open Windows Messenger on your mobile
2. You should be on that main page which says sign in as and you can choose status. Click Cancel
3. Click Menu
4. Click Windows Live
5. Click Menu
6. Click Account Options
7. Click Switch Windows Live ID and press yes.
9. Choose Accept
10. Enter details for your account and click Next
11. Choose whether you want the search bar etc n press next
12. IMPORTANT: Uncheck "Store Windows Live contacts in you mobile phone's contact list". This will stop the contacts from going into your account again. Press Next
13. And there you go!
I don't mean to patronise you by adding every single step but for completions sake I thought I should as it can help someone in the future.
Let me know how you get on
cheers mate, not patronizing at all. Just being helpful.
Ill get back to you on how i do.
For many years, I have been a user of “notes” in WM devices. I now have accumulated quite a list of them and I use them routinely. They have always resided on an SD card which I swapped when I changed devices.
Has anyone discovered a way to get these “notes” into the new devices? A cloud-based solution is certainly acceptable for transfer of the data, but not for storage. I require device-based storage for almost everything as I spend a lot of time removed from any source of connectivity.
Thanks!
At the moment, there currently is no way to sync files other than media (photos, music, videos, podcasts, which are sync'd through the Zune software).
You can however, store your file online (such as through SkyDrive), and then download them using the phone's web browser. When you download files from the web, they certainly get stored somewhere, but since there is no file browser, you can't browse to a directory and tap the file to start it. For example, when you load a PDF file from the web on your phone, it gets downloaded somewhere, but if you decide to look at the PDF again in the future, you can only access that from the Adobe Reader app, where it gets listed until you decide to remove it.
That being said, I don't think that Windows Phone supports the old Windows Mobile Notes files though, so I'm not sure how you would view them on Windows Phone 7.
An alternative would be to convert over to OneNote and use the online syncing capability (which rocks). Create your notes on your desktop, online, or on your phone and they can automatically stay in sync with each other.
I am not quite sure if you mean this but if you go to office then onenote and then press all you can sync them.
I only used office 2010 for some months, but I think you can create a online link and connect it to your phone.
The data is stored on the phone and if you edit something it will be synced the next time if you are online.
I hope i helped as i am not quite sure myself and I am waiting to get office 2010.

It's pretty easy to set up skydrive to sync with OneNote on your phone. I used cut and paste on my pc to copy my notes from Outlook to OneNote on my browser (skydrive), then synced the phone. Now any changes to the notes - made either on the web app or the phone - get synced automatically. Very convenient after all the initial copying.
another vote for oneNote, the default notbook works great, in system settings go to applications > onenote and slide the sync slider, they'll give you more info, read it, they won't tell you again.
I also setup a second notebook to share with a business partner on my PC, the link showed up in my ME tile, I clicked it out of curiosity, now it's synced too!
+1 for one note, a very convenient solution, not something i had used before now, but i am becoming increasingly reliant on it!
I recently upgraded to the Sprint HTC Arrive. I also have Windows 7 Ultimate on my Computer. When I delete E-Mail from my phone, it is also deleted from my Computer. I don't know how to have that STOP doing that. Windows Live Mail is what I am going to use, so please don't suggest that I use a different program. I don't want all the E-Mail overloading on my phone. I get a LOT of E-Mails a day. Sometimes over 100. I'm constantly checking it on my phone. I want to keep some of them & move them into specific folders when I get home, but I have noticed that when I delete them off my phone, they are deleted off my computer also. PLEASE HELP WITH THIS ISSUE! Thank You Guys!

Your phone sync with Hotmail, Windows Live Mail syncs with Hotmail. When you do something to one, it communicates with the Hotmail server and makes those changes. That's how cloud computing works, and because you are using two methods that talk to a single server, those changes get fed to whatever device accesses Windows Live Hotmail.
This is how it is intended to work and is by design, and there is no option to "disable" sync'ing. The whole point is to keep your mail sync'd wherever you go.
If you are using Windows Live Mail, what you can do is move the e-mail you want to save into a folder that is stored on your computer, and not on the Windows Live Hotmail server. This allows you to save the message. Of course, you can only do this through your computer once you check it through Windows Live Mail. I know Windows Live Mail used to have a "mail stored on computer" function, and I haven't used it in a while so I don't know if this still exists.
