Ringtone for textmessages - JASJAR, XDA Exec, MDA Pro Software Upgrading

Hi all,
I have a question:
I tried to use a mp3 for ringtone of my incoming textmessages.
Putting it in the Windows directory normally does the trick.
I will probably have to convert the mp3 to an other format.
Can anyone help me out?
Please don't tell me to use search.
Have just tried that for half an hour now.
Thanks in advance.

I think you need to convert the file to a .WAV file and drop it into the windows folder in file explorer then go back into sounds and notifications and select the ring tone for SMS.
There are plenty of programs that will convert this just google '.MP3 to .WAV converter'

Change standard alarm sound

Hi there,
I can't figure out how to change the regular/standard alarm sound to one of my own. I did manage to change the SMS sound to one of my own, so I thought that the procedure would be the same. Putting the mp3 in the \Windows directory, but that doesn't work.
I did see that all the alarm sounds are either .WMA or .WAV, so I changed my alarm sound to a .WMA and put it again in the \Windows directory, doesn't work either!!!
I have this personal wake up sound with my name in it and I'd like that to be my alarm sound, does anyone know how I can do that?
Where do I have to put the audio file?
Any help is much appreciated!
Rgds,
Albert
Edit: I just tried adding the .WAV audio and now I can see it in the alarm sounds, but when I chose my sound it just jumps back to the default sound, not letting me chose my personal sound. Oh this is so frustrating........I hope someone can help me......
you can try Pocket Wakeup... with it you can use mp3 files... it's so cool!

Your file can only be so long, not sure what the link is but shorten it, that should fix your problem

...or pTravelAlarm!
Thanks for the replies.
I'll give those 2 programs a try since I don't want to shorten my audio file......
It's 6-7 seconds long (don't really remember) and basicly it's a tune that says my name and tells me that's it's time to wake up.....hehe...
I'll let you guys know if I managed to fix my prob.....
Edit: Ok I just installed pTravelAlarm v2.7.3 and [MOD EDIT: Don't Mention WAREZ]
Now I've my mp3 file as my alarm......perfect!!
I couldn't find the pocket wakeup to download........I got this french site and it didn't work.....
but don't need it anymore........pTravelAlarm works great and I like the fact that it uses
big number and the stop and snooze buttons are big enough to push with the finger.
Thanks Athanaso77

Can you upload pTravelAlarm?
Cheers.
Thanks for the file!!
I tried to upload the cab file but I keep getting an error........I tried to compress (rar) the cab + keygen into 1 file but it says incorrect file or something like that.....
So here is the keygen for v2.7.3, just download it and use this keygen.

I dont know if you can use .wma's for that, you may nee to convert them to .mp3 or .wav,,,,You may try and drop them in the \application data\sounds folder.
Thanks Pudge! Got it by dropping em in App Data\Sounds
I wonder if there's a master table somewhere of where sounds for various things need to go. I know some sounds can be in My Documents, others in Windows, etc. Add to that that you can't use certain formats for certain events and it gets downright confusing.
all i know is if you drop your sound files in the application data/sounds folder
any customization of sounds can be done if they are in that folder. As far as the types of audio file formats you can use, i really dont know the extent of what you can and cant use. Although it seems that .mp3's, .wav's and .wma's work when editing your profiles, other restrictions are true when editing other things, such as startup-shutdown tones (.wav only) as well as other restrictions that i can't think of off the top of my head.

Any links where you can get these sounds from?
I liked the ones in the rose rom but had to flash back to kavanas because of my weak little battery. Ill go back as soon as I can get a 12 volt car battery wired up to it.

Yes, that's the one. Thanks!
I've seriously searched on my phone in just about every folder and still can't find it. Really strange. I'm also using VP3G's 3.0 so I guess he had hidden the default sounds somewhere.

Can anyone help me?

I just got a htc Excalibur and i am looking for an mp3 editor to make ring tones any ideas???
Thank you.

Try the HTC MP3 Trimmer, you can do them directly on your phone, all you do is open a music file with it (mp3 format only) edit it and you copy it to the ringtone folder. Here's the link for the cab. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2254414&postcount=176
Thank you VEry much!!! (sorry It took me a little Wyle to reply)

Alarm and Ringtones MP3

Is it possible to use my own MP3's as a ringtone/alarm?
Tried copying them into all kinds of directories and didn't get to choose them in TF3D
create a folder on your storage card called my ringtones (same name as the folder on the phone) put them in there and they will appear in the ringtone list
Thanks that worked for the ringtones.
Now only the alarm isnt cooperating. Any ideas?
try to copy the mp3 to your \Windows Folder
I think it has to be a Wav file, and I think there is a maximum file size too, but I am not 100% sure.
Well thats a step back... my S710 could do MP3's no problem :-/

Oh well at least on the kaiser I think it does have to be WAV, and they are both wm 6.1, maybe it is because the S710 runs wm standard, or maybe th touch pro 2 does play MP3, but then again I did say I wasn't completely sure....
Have a google for KaiSoft MP3Alarm, it will do the trick for you, and allows you to browse to any file.
Cheers,
Beasty
I got myself Klaxon
http://www.freewarepocketpc.net/ppc-download-klaxon.html
Supports MP3's FULLY integrated in TF3D. And has some bonus abilities like shaking the phone=off, snooze = turn phone over (each with feedback via vibra) etc
Its even "thumbflick friendly"
I believe the development of Klaxon has been cut off. I think you would be better off with G-Alarm (though, that too has turned to payware recently, but you can still get the free 1.5.1 version that works perfectly - at least it does for me) which has all the same functionality as Klaxon and then some.

To change the ringtone you just have to put your favourite mp3 in windows/rings (on a German phone). Doesn't work for text messages though. On other windows mobile phones, you had to convert the mp3 in wav or wma, put it in the same place and they would show up in the text message alert list (I've done it myself and it worked). Unfortunately that doesn't seem to work for my tp2 right now. Any ideas, especially for individual text message alerts?
