Been having this problem lately and it is really killing me. I notice i am in decent to great 4g coverage and my dl speeds are crap. Anyone else getting this or know whats going on? It took me like 3 min to load tgis page. And my youtube 70% of the time says there was a problem playing this video and when it does play its plays for a minute then stops.
It takes three tries for some Youtube vids to play. Prior to the new Youtube app release it only took two. Check the thread on setting wifi parameters. May help.
My 4G connectivity sucks ass too...
my speeds were good a couple times... its been crapola mostly
Ok just called sprint and it seams it may have helped a bit. Here are the directions to try to help get better data dl speeds.
Steps:
1. Bring up dial pad and press# #3282#
2. Edit mode
3. Enter MSL # for the password. Call sprint to get your MSL# .
4. Press ok
5. Hit Data Profile
6. Hit menu
7. Hit restore
8. Hit ok on prompt
9. Hit ok again for 2nd prompt.
10. Phone should reset itself.
11. After reset hit Menu.
12. Settings
13. System Update
14. Update profile
Hope that helps.
Getting 5mb+
No issues with speed here in OC.
if your having troubles with 4g try turning 4g on via the toggle and then go into wireless connections and turn off data so it doesn't try switching to 3g and see if it stabilizes

Scroll Down to the BOTTOM and TURN OFF - MOBILE NETWORK
That turns off 3g, That will keep 3g and 4g from fighting one another when you have a low connection
Yeah they are always fighting thanks.

I know there are a lot of posts about internet connection problems, but I couldn't find anything exactly like my issue.
If I only have 3g on, my Evo will connect and stay connected for a few minutes, then it will disconnect for about 20 seconds, and reconnect agaoin for another few minutes... and the cycle continues.
If I turn 4g on and 3g off, the same thing happens with the 4g.
If I have 3g and 4g on, the same things happens except sometimes 3g will be the one to connect and sometimes 4g.
Wifi works great.
My Evo is brand new and recently rooted, running Myn's Rom RLS4.
anyone had similar situation or resolutions?
THnkas!
there are only pockets of 4G so far. dont expect there to be 4G around like 3G is. as it is, 3G still isnt dat big/nation wide, but 4G is like rare. its like a needle in a haystack. the needle is 4G surrounded by the Hay/3G
Thanks,
the thing though is that my wife's unrooted Evo always maintains a strong 4g connection.
It wouldn't bother me too much the same thing happens when I use 3g. it reconnects every 5 minutes or so. Maybe rooting it caused damage?
Could flashing a different radio or wimax help?
Sent from my Evo using XDA App
Don't flash radios... that is all
For anyone with similar problem, I found my answer here and fixed my connectivity issueshttp://forum.xda-developers.com/archive/index.php/t-704845.html.

I don't think it has anything to do with the ROM.
If when you are connected to 4G you can access the internet, only suddenly 4G it drops for no reason and switch to 3G and then reconnects to 4G and goes on and on, below is the solution. if when you are connected to 4G you can not access the internet at all, the below wont fix it for you and it is probably a problem with your rom.
You will need your msl code to fix this, loop up in the forums to to obtain your msl code from Sprint:
hit ##DATA# > Edit mode.
Put in your msl code
Chose WIMAX
Scroll down to Wimax_Idle_Sleep
Change the value from 10 to 300.
Click menu, commit changes and restart the phone.
This fixed it for me and i never drop 4g (when in good coverage) again.
Basically Sprint has some STUPID setting that tells 4g to go into "sleep mode" of no data is passed on the 4g connection after 10 seconds which is essentially disconnecting 4g.
The problem is it goes into sleep mode (disconnecting), but then rescans and look for a 4G signal > reconnects to 4g and if no data will be passed in 10sec it will do the same again in an endless loop.
10sec to put a connection into sleep mode is really low so change it to 300sec.
The odd thing is that this is only happening in certain locations and with certain towers.
I tried to call Sprint and explain about this issue but my attempts fell on death ears.
Go ahead and try the above. if it helps you please someone make this a sticky as you are not the first i see having the issue.

You'll need your msl number to do this. SImply download msl reader from the market.
Can you change any of the other settings that would make it work better?
Scan attempt
Scan retry
Thanks for this info, I gave it a try but I still cannot connect without doing a profile update and or PRL update.

I sometimes have an issue where my phone loses data connectivity in places where I know that I have service. I can get it to refresh and reconnect to the data signal by going into and out of airplane mode, but that's kind of a pain. I've tried opening my browser and repeatedly refreshing google, but that doesn't seem to work as regularly as my airplane mode method.
Is there any way to force the g2 to search for a data signal once it has lost it? Does this ever happen to anyone else?
running CM 6.1.1
If forcing 2G/3G what you are looking for... here download the application shown below =]
http://www.androlib.com/android.application.myc-phone-phoneinfo-pnDn.aspx
once installed just go into phone info I believe? not so sure it's been a while.. then scroll down to either network "GSM ONLY" for 2G or "WCDMA only" for 3G sorry I'm a bit sleepy as I just woke but you can also follow this guide below!

*#*#4636#*#* - select "Phone Information", scroll down and you can toggle your connection type -
Perfect! I think this is exactly the type of thing I'm looking for. I'll try it out the next time I lose my connection.
Here are some pictures that can possibly help someone help me. 3G has not connected to the network since I installed the Synergy nightly rom. 4G works and Im able to use data but not 3G and Im unable to make/receive calls and text. Gps works, wifi works. I even noticed today while traveling to work (which is 22 miles from my house) that it connected once but with 1x signal strength then it dropped.
I'd try "restoring" your profile and see if that helps.
If you don't have your MSL, you can get the MSL Reader from the market (or possibly find the APK somewhere and push to your phone since data isn't working).
1. Dial ##3282# from your phone.
2. Choose "Edit Mode"
3. Enter your 6-digit MSL
4. Select "Data Profile"
5. Press your "Menu" button.
6. Select "Restore".
7. It will restore your default data profile and reboot/check for PRL/firmware updates.
8. Success??

Thanks and i tried that method already but will give it another shot..

Something similar happened to me not too long ago and I had to do a factory reset to get it working again. Get you MSL code, and then ##786#. In that menu, hit "menu" and then restore the phone.
Before you do, back-up all your apps and user data with Titanium Backup (or whatever you use) so you can restore your phone back to how it is now. If not, you will lose all your apps and settings.
Thanks will try this method again and let you guys know my results.
So did you ever get this resolved?
Just Update Data profile. I was having the same problem a few days ago and flashed back to VirusROM from CM7 to update the profile.
Anyone have a ideal why this is happening? When I am on the Internet 3g sometimes 4g depending on where I am in my house. My Internet dies, I see the 3g icon sometimes the right arrow (up green) but not the left arrow (down orange) under the 3g when Internet dies. So I have to do sometimes is to open a new Window, Even to kick start my youtube app. I have the bookmark Google page. I have to open Google page in a new window to kick the Internet going again, then go back to the window I was trying to open that can't find to open, to get the Internet working again. This kinda started maybe two ago, oh note to add they started with my 4g couple weeks ago in my area, not full. So maybe something to with the towers? Any suggestions will help and thank you all developers for all time,
A little about my phone:
1. Not rooted
2. All My poxxy are all at 0.0.0 etc. -did it months ago, right 0 at the rights spots.
3. My back cover that iam using don't have anything nfc antenna on it, iam sure it dont matter.
4. uag case
5. Setting in settings is on mobile its on cdma/lte I did automatic nothing changed
Thanks again
if they're working on the towers, not uncommon to have network issues.
To get your internet back, just go into airphone mode, and then turn it off. The phone will reconnect.
If it's that bad and inconsistent, you may be able to complain and get Sprint to get you one of those AirWaves thing to let you use your internet to support your phone on the network.

Thanks you for the reply, I'll try that just wanted to make it not my phone.
When I leave my apartment until I disconnected from WiFi, I getting into the elevator and the data is searching for network and will not find any.after I get out of the elevator, it connects to 2G and stay there for long time.
If I switch WiFi off,, before I get into the elevator, it will connect directly to 4g and stay there(and this is how I like it).
But most of the time I forget switch off the WiFi, so I have to wait something like 10 minutes to get 4g connection.
Any way of disabling 2G, but leave 3G & 4G?

You could try dialing *#*#4636#*#* which will open the 'Testing' settings and then navigate to Phone information and scroll down until you find a little drop down box which you can select which network types you want to run. I myself use CDMA/EvDo/GSM/WCDMA/LTE Auto which switches between those when it needs to but if you only want to use 4G then you can switch to 'LTE only'.
Goodluck and I hope that does what you wanted!
Edit: I just realized that that number may not work on all phones, if that fails and you cannot access it with that then the only other method I can think of is to download Pimp My Rom from the Play Store and once installed open it and navigate to Tools < Scroll to the bottom & tap Device Hidden Menu > Access Hidden Menu. Please if you decide to wander around in this app then make a Nandroid backup first as this app is still in beta and very unstable, I recommend just using it for the device hidden menu options until you get what you need done.

I remember on my One X , this trick was working but after a reboot it was resetting to its previous state. No idea if this is still the case with M8

I had problems once with my phone only using 3G and using this to set it to allow 4G solved my problem permanently, hopefully it won't "reset" with yours, though I've never heard of that issue happening so it may be uncommon.
