Just happened across this company the other day. They make mounts for iphones. It is advertised as being formable to any skin or case. The iphone isnt much different in size so i ordered it. will post update when it arrives.
Oops cant post url. The company is named thought out. Just ad a .biz to the end and that is the site. The product is called the PED3 form.
Vibrant car dock
Can someone post a pic as i am at work and limited as to what i can do on the work comp.
The URL is http://thoughtout.biz/PED3 ? If yes, this url is blocked by my WebFirewall for "Spam URL".
Hope you didn't get scammed.
I am sure i didnt. I called home and the package arrived today. Will post more when i get the box opened and fool around with it. The web site is legit.

No scam at all. I got the mount and the phone fits great. i will have someone take a pic of it in the mount. what is the easiest way to post a pic on here? I repeat not a scam.
If you are nervous about that website, I just found that they are also in the amazon marketplace.

I am new here so i cannot post a pic yet. I have the mount and it fits perfectly. The tabs on the mount are very easy to adjust so i am sure many different phone would work. I am using mine without a case but i am sure you can get it to work with one on.
Just upload your pictures to imgur.com or something and show us the links.
I will get a better pic of it mounted in the car. It comes with 4 small suction cups and an option to mount using 3M adhesive pad or screw mount. The tang on the top of the mount doesnt block either the micro usb or the headphone output. All in all i am very happy with this mount.
Considering that the iPhone is smaller than the Vibrant and I can't see that the holders are adjustable, how were you able to fit the Vibrant in there??? Mine has a case and I've been looking for a car mount that will accomodate it with the case. So do you think the Thought out PED3 mount would work with a case on the Vibrant?? Thanks in advance.

i would also like to know this, and also does it block the camera or? it'd be cool to even record while driving
Ive been looking for a car mount for weeks now. I finally found one that I like. I got it at walmart for $20. It's made by scoshe, it for the iphone but I can slide my phone into it even with my tpu case on it. It installs on the window or vent, and it doesn't cover the camera

The tabs of the mount are bendable. It is made to fit iphones with different style cases so it is adaptable to many different sizes. The look is also very clean and minimal which is what i was looking for. I am sure it wiould fit with a bunch of different cases. As for the camera i will have to look but i dont think it bolcks the camera. When/If you order make sure you get the PED3 FORM mount.

Back in the day (2yrs ago) I used the product from Griffin called the “window seat” for my Itouch and I loved it. It never fell, The support was firm meaning when I hit bumps (potholes and the occasional prostitute) the device wouldn’t move but I could easily move it with my hand. so here’s my idea, I am going to get another Window seat (comes with the mount kit/arms an Itouch bracket and an iphone bracket) and cut the mount case for the iphone so that just the back connector is left (basically cutting the case part off). Then I will gorilla glue the bracket to a chepo hard evo case which will serve as my new mount, best of all I can Qik my drives with it being mounted in the window (makes me feel like a celebrity…Now where’s my Bentley?)
My question to you: What hard case would be your first choice? (Think cheap and durable and has to be hard plastic)
Edit: saw this in the other custom mount thread and i think i will take his advice and go with the case from handhelditems.com

Great idea... I need something like this for my Evo to sit in my pop up nav compartment.. Any places that sell this Griffin product on the cheap?
I like your thinking on this. My dashboard, however is not a perfectly smooth surface (2000 Honda Civic), would this thing stick?

probably not if its a soft surface, that's why i stick it to the windshield and hang it right below my rear view, my dash wouldn't allow it to stick lol
so i was tired of looking for over priced bulky car mounts and well just made one.. came out better than i had expected and looks quite nice. on top of everything it is sturdy and it swivels up down left right

Nice!! Could you give a breakdown of what parts and mounts you used and where you got them from? or did you fab them yourself? Looks awesome.
Sent from my ADR6400L using Tapatalk
sure, sorry i did not include them in the post
all the parts are from ram-mount, i ordered them from ebay because shipping was free apposed to ram-mount.com
first i used a piece of mdf wood 7 1/2" by 2 (thats the size of my single din, a piece of acrylic sheet will look better, i will change it in the future)
parts used Ram-B-238U, RAM RAM-B-201U(you could probably find a longer piece on their site but this was fine for my install), RAM-B-202U (screwed this on back of my hard snap on case also can be used for any install, but for a cleaner look you could look on their site they have the xoom case that attaches to the parts listed above
also, as you can see in the 1st pic that the wood is held sturdy in place by 2 bolts. what i did was buy 2 7" bolts 2 washers and 2 nuts, drill 2 holes in back of the din and screwed them in place it holds with no problem (even though the xoom is quite heavy) and looks much cleaner than screwing screws all around the wood
if you would like i can take more pictures later of the setup at different angles
interesting. Do the screw heads not scratch the back of the xoom?
I planned on doing something very similar, hopefully this weekend if I am not overly busy with other things.
Sadly my civic doesn't have a 2xDIN slot, so mounting options seems to be few and far between for me. Especially since it is a 5 speed, mounting somewhere that won't get in the way of shifting or the passenger is difficult.
Damn small Japanese car.
I'm pretty sure RAM mounts sell a longer arm ill check it out. Plus I centered the ball thingy on the wood I bet if you move it more to the right you can shift with out a problem
Sent from my PG86100 using Tapatalk
Oh and no the screw do not scratch the xoom. And BTW I have an invisible shield on the back also . Like I said they also sell a xoom case that attaches to the ARM so it dosent scratch and is much more sturdy. I will put up more options and alternatives when I get home .
Just trying to give Back a little to a forum that gave a lot to me

Thank you for the breakdown. Looks really good the way you have it done. Good diy project for me to tackle

Just thought I'd share this. It was so easy. I couldn't stand how using the holder as it comes because it was always in my direct line of sight while driving. Its kinda dangerous to have something block that much of my view. So what I did was take the tab holder and took off the pivit part of it, slid it into the car holder I had for my phone and it fit almost perfect. It clips into the heater/AC vents.
I'll get all the info on it later tonight when I get home.

Yes it is. Combined with a phone holder that I bought a while back from Walmart for around $20. Sorry guys. Got busy. For sure tonight with details and a video.
Hello...i am looking to buy this one...could u please post some pics and may be a video?
Neat idea. This would be great if the tab was a 3g and you get a good GPS app. Or I suppose tethering your tab to your phone to use for gps. With a nice big screen to look at, it could make things convenient.
I'm desperate to find something like this, can you give detailed instructions for how you did that?

Transmission sent from a Galaxy S II, CODENAME style.
You could mount it on a motorcycle, however, it doesn't fit the epic I forgot that the SGII is 4.3 inch and our phones our a bit bigger. I really like to product so I will be modifying it to fit, wont be the best but its better then all the other ones that leave the phone out in the open.
Bought this a few months for both my son & I. It has a bungee to keep it from flying off over railroad tracks. Highly recommended.

Thanks I did notice but the s has a 4" screen which is even smaller, the volume and power might align better though. I cut out holes for the volume and power button obviously not as water proof anymore but really I just want it to protect the screen/speaker/front front from any moisture which it still does. I also had to modify the rubber lining because the screen didn't aligh with the screen on the case and I was unable to press the home/back etc buttons.
BTW I found my on ebay for $30 so if anybody is looking for one start there. It does not show the brand on ebay but its the same stuff.
Placeholder for now. I'm out and will search when I get home. This'll just show up in my subs so I don't forget. There's a member Miami_Son, he does serious off road riding and found an adjustable mount he used for the captivate.

oh the irony, i was just about to make a thread asking for recommendations for a bike mount...
@polska, can you share the link of the one you found on ebay? is it specific to the ET4G ?
This is what I got, again keep in mind the that SII is 4.3" not 4.5 like our phones and the buttons do no align
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Samsung-GAL...633177?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item5649389819
...but its the best I could find and for $27 its not a bad price.
Let me know how it fits, then I'll see about ordering it.

I'm getting ready for a motorcycle trip next month and bought a waterproof hard case from Ultimate Mobiles in the UK completely forgetting that the European s2 has a smaller screen. It will cost more to send it back to the UK than I'd get for a refund so Ivee been looking at modifying it, sadly I can't without making the case useless. The charger and mount will work perfectly for whatever solution I finally end up with.
I'm very interested to see if the ebay case works for our phones, if so I'd be all over it!

I may be blind but where on your bike are you mounting your phone?
And what mount are you using?
I've been looking for a good vent mount that will fit my Verizon S3 with a Diztronics case on it. I had one I purchased awhile back but unfortunately it broke. I've seen this one as well, but it has mixed reviews
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003XAF4YQ/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A2MCP9XRDS4FRC
I was hoping to spend under $25, and am looking to use the phone in landscape so I can use it as my GPS. Does anyone have one they would recommend? I tried the nGrooze one that goes in the CD player, and I love it but unfortunately the way its designed it pushes in the volume button on my Honda accord, so it doesn't work too well.
Thanks in advance!

nGroove does have a new mount out (not yet for sale, but very soon, I think): http://www.indiegogo.com/projects/t...k-mount-any-mobile-device-in-your-car-cd-slot
But, I can't tell if it will have the same issue as their older mounts, as they are pretty similar at the CD-player slot end.

This one might actually work better. I definitely hadn't seen anything about this, so thank you very much for the headsup!!

I made my own following this guide on Lifehacker. I used heat shrink rather than string, quicker and cleaner. Took me about 5 minutes, but I had all the tools at work and knew what I was doing.
Works quite well, though I have noticed recently (about a year after making the mount) that it has loosened up the horizontal slats that the binder clip contacts when it gets pushed onto the vent. Nothing serious, though.

Pictured is the Rock case, but I currently use the extended battery and Diztronic case. It also worked quite well with the stock battery and Diztronic case. Basically it accommodates a large range of phone sizes thanks to the rubber bands.
I have this one. Working well with samsung protective cover plus.

Just heads up for anyone else considering the Airframe: I ordered one to try with my daily driver S3+Defender, and no go. The Kenu website does not give any specs on the largest width it can handle. I thought I'd give it a try regardless.
With my digital caliper, the largest width the Airframe can handle fully stretched is 76mm. My defender measures about 79.5mm.
I really like this vent mount. Right now, I can only use it on my older Android units or my test S3 in a non Defender type case. Very nice concept, materials, and execution in terms of fit and finish. I'm going to email Kenu and hope a future revision can add an extra few mm.
