Nice!! Could you give a breakdown of what parts and mounts you used and where you got them from? or did you fab them yourself? Looks awesome.
Sent from my ADR6400L using Tapatalk
sure, sorry i did not include them in the post
all the parts are from ram-mount, i ordered them from ebay because shipping was free apposed to ram-mount.com
first i used a piece of mdf wood 7 1/2" by 2 (thats the size of my single din, a piece of acrylic sheet will look better, i will change it in the future)
parts used Ram-B-238U, RAM RAM-B-201U(you could probably find a longer piece on their site but this was fine for my install), RAM-B-202U (screwed this on back of my hard snap on case also can be used for any install, but for a cleaner look you could look on their site they have the xoom case that attaches to the parts listed above
also, as you can see in the 1st pic that the wood is held sturdy in place by 2 bolts. what i did was buy 2 7" bolts 2 washers and 2 nuts, drill 2 holes in back of the din and screwed them in place it holds with no problem (even though the xoom is quite heavy) and looks much cleaner than screwing screws all around the wood
if you would like i can take more pictures later of the setup at different angles
interesting. Do the screw heads not scratch the back of the xoom?
I planned on doing something very similar, hopefully this weekend if I am not overly busy with other things.
Sadly my civic doesn't have a 2xDIN slot, so mounting options seems to be few and far between for me. Especially since it is a 5 speed, mounting somewhere that won't get in the way of shifting or the passenger is difficult.
Damn small Japanese car.
I'm pretty sure RAM mounts sell a longer arm ill check it out. Plus I centered the ball thingy on the wood I bet if you move it more to the right you can shift with out a problem
Sent from my PG86100 using Tapatalk
Oh and no the screw do not scratch the xoom. And BTW I have an invisible shield on the back also . Like I said they also sell a xoom case that attaches to the ARM so it dosent scratch and is much more sturdy. I will put up more options and alternatives when I get home .
Just trying to give Back a little to a forum that gave a lot to me

Thank you for the breakdown. Looks really good the way you have it done. Good diy project for me to tackle

Well, Since my time around XDA I have always stated I DO NOT like cases. Even though I know I should use them for protection, I hate what they do to the phone. I like my phone NAKED, to me it is like making a sexy girl wear a armor suit.... While she is very protected, she is not half a fun to handle and not nearly as nice to look at. So.... I can across a possible solution to protect my phone from scratches and for it you have a 'custom" look. I thought I would post up for anybody who has been kicking around the idea of trying them out.
Ordering and Shipping::: I went to http://www.gelaskins.com/store/skins/phones/Motorola_Droid_X on Saturday and chose the H.R Giger (Always been a fan) after browsing through the tons of selections. Placed my order, and received a confirmation immediately stating that they will "produce" my skin and it will be shipped within 2-4 "business" days. I also received a link to download the wallpaper that goes with the skin.
Monday morning I received a UPS tracking confirmation confirming my order has shipped and 2 days later it was at my door. So, as for the production, and promptness I would have to give them a 10 easy.
Packaging/Quality::: Package was a simple plastic sleeve with the vinyl sheet containing the skins. One thing i did notice is that there were NO instructions or "tips" for installation. While I guess installation is self explanatory, some tips would have been nice ie: do stretch the skin. LOL
The quality of the skins are very nice, they seem to have a nice thickness to them, the color looks great, and while the adhesive holds tight... It is very forgiving while installing. Don't be afraid to get it right.
Installation::: This will be short.... I was hesitate at first but I can say, "it was not bad at all". I wiped my phone down with Pledge MultiSurface wipes (What I always use to clean it with" and taking my time I stuck them on. DONE. It was quite painless.
Overall::: Well, it is only my second day running them but so far I am pleased. I am not worried about putting down my phone, sliding around, or because of the tackyness not slipping out of my hand while banging out some emails and texts.
Hey, for the price of $14.95 and the look of the phone being able to change... IMO, you can't beat it!!.
Pics below.

how are the edges?? are they curling up at all?? im really considering getting this, just for the sheer awesomeness..
I have one of the gelaskins on my Droid X. The edges are fine and they never curl up. The skins are top notch and high quality. The only problem I have had was with the Droid X moto car dock. With the skin its a tighter fit and there was one corner, on the top left of the phone, that would sometimes catch and curl the skin back slightly when inserting the phone into the dock, but other than that the skin is very durable and wont curl up on you in the long run.

I haven't had any peeling yet. As you can see in the pics I have the Moto Extended Battery, and with my media dock and my car dock everything is holding on like it should.

This looks pretty similar to something that I believe Otterbox will end up looking like. Personally, I think the flap over the camera is laughable but if you want true protection it comes with a price.
Picked one of these up. LOL! Why? I work in a very dirty environment that would subject my phone to a lot of fine particulates and water. Plus a 2-year old that loves to play with phones.
It is next to impossible for me to get the kickstand out with this case. I need long fingernails to reach the stand with this one.
Anyone else have one of these?
I have this case and i think it's great that you can add the extra protection when it's needed, and then just remove it when you don't.
Can the flap for the camera be permanently removed?
Sent from my ADR6400L using Tapatalk
I just got mine in the mail about 2 days ago. i have no flap. i did also buy this from amazon. Maybe mine is older or new i don't no. i would post the link from where i bought it but im still a newb.
all in all i love the case and the belt clip. great product

You could have to rip the rubber off the pivot piece for the camera cover. Then you could make it removable. It's the only option I know of.

that hole next to the camera, yea the bump on the flap is placed there to hold it back.
i had this case since i bought my TB but i got it from Best Buy n it was called Platinum. its a really good case. i would really recommend this
same I got the platinum series TB case from best buy. 34.99
its sleaker then the one posted though and looks better IMO.
The holes in the back for the cam and LED are 2 different accurate cut outs instead of one. looks better but it dies not have the flap/cover
Its the same case. The convert just has two extra layers and isn't rebranded.
Anyone know? Wanna grab one from Best Buy today but want to know if it works
Cant imagine they would since the GT is longer and narrower...
Gonna second this to increase my post count... A nice messenger bag would work tho
Most that I have tried do not. They leave a small gap where the top of the hole to the pouch would normally touch the bottom.
The 10.1 is just a little bit too long. I'm currently using a 10" netbook sleeve until I decide what I want to do...
Wont fit.

10" netbook items work...but none are a snug fit. Ipad is no go because of dimensions.

There are a few on ebay:
http://stores.ebay.com/The-Fair-Pri...286603010&_sid=62662480&_trksid=p4634.c0.m322
But other than being patient until more products are released, there's not much you can do. Remember, the iPad has been out for over a year, the iPad2 for months and this thing 5 days. Be patient.
I picked up a $10 neoprene netbook bag from the discard bin at a computer shop to use for now. Ideal, no. Functional and temporary, yes. For the first two days I used a bubble envelope - no joke. It was my "theft deterrent bag"...

I swear, that dude is saying "U mad, bro?"
I'm using this one. It's snug, but fits well. Plus it has a pouch in the front for my Mifi and cable.
Belkin Vue Sleeve
The neoprene roocase for the ipad2 is a very tight fit but should give good protection.
This fits, but is a little snug in the width. Got it on closeout for $10 at Staples.
So I'm thinking about doing a mod to the moto folio case and make the front cover detachable and reatachable. The material doesn't feel like it will unravel do I believe if I use a razor blade to cut it off and figure out a way to attach the other side of the lid. Hoping maybe this will make it a little better for the dock however I will probably lose the stand capability. Anyways I got the case for 20 and could probably get it again for that price. Any opinions? Has anyone tried this? Please let me know your thoughts.

Why bother? Fold it underneath when on your lap and u dont notice it. The only time mine annoys me is when i have to charge it
I don't know if it can unravel when cut, but that was a concern of mine as well. I added a 3/8-inch diameter hole over the charging port so that I can charge it with the cover closed. It works great. To prevent unraveling or fraying, I melted the hole (using an old nut driver heated over the stove).
I don't understand the desire to cut the flap off, but I won't question your goal. If you do cut it, you can heat seal the edge with a flame or hot blade.
I just feel like the flap gets in the way but now that I think about it I will probably need the stand capability for school. I may just cut the hole like you said.

So I did it. I really got tired of holding the case open. Now it fits in the dock better as well.

Just charging, that's all you can do really other than plug in some speakers. Kind of bugs me it doesn't have a USB out of the dock. Oh well I only paid $25 for it.
Just put a USB (Motorola Camera Cable) inside my dock tonight. SWEET!
Took some doing, and had top pitch the top weight inside, but it looks pretty clean.
this is the case found on this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1747091#
Okay so i just got the case today
My first impression was it looks pretty cool.
Inspecting the case more, i find the quality to be pretty good. It doesnt feel cheap, not at all.
The case is easy to put on, but hard to take off. What I'm saying is, it doesnt feel like the second piece of the case would fall out of it at all.
The first layer of the case is made of Silicone. The second is hard plastic with silicone top on it which gives it more grip on your hand and wouldnt slip when put on top of a table, etc.
The case feels solid and grippy. it has holes for the mic and noise cancellation mic. The case has a cover for the 3.5mm which is great but not for the micro usb(expected that anyways).
The volume and power button are easy to press and gives you a nice feedback. Its really great
There is only one problem that i came across with the case, though its not really a big deal.
The hole for the micro usb port is too small for the charger that came with the phone. But if you force it in, it should go in DEEP.
I have a spare cable like this one so everything is all good

For $6 this case is a total beast.
Quality is great and it looks pretty slick.
9/10
just got my other case today.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/330759812700?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649
The case looks fantastic, though. Its hard to put on, like super hard. You have to force it to fit.
What i like about it is that it looks better than the the one similar to it. I like how the charging port is bigger as well.
Only problem i have with it is that fitting, its not easy and requires a lot of force to get it fitted.
Check out the pictures.
