[Q] Need Help Putting Myn's Theme on Swype

I followed all the steps to the letter. Went into Root Explorer and found the swype apk in data/app. Held it down and moved it to system/app. Renamed it by taking out the 1. Rebooted.
Went into metamorph and extracted the theme. When I go to apply, it says .com.android.swype-1.apk can not be found in target data/app/
2 things:
Why is it looking in there? I moved it out of there
I renamed it so why is it looking for that old file name?
It also said the sub theme was put into data/app.
I'm stuck. I even tested it out by renaming it to what it wanted and put it back to where it was looking and nothing at all.
Any help? I'd really like to have the all black swype instead of the gray. Goes with my theme. I even watched the Youtube video and am doing everything he is.

Un-install swype, reboot, install, reboot. Then try to metamorph it without moving it. Same thing happened to me.

On the post with those instructions, there is a fixed version of the theme. Download it & follow instructions again.

Yeah, I'm having a problem with this as well. I followed the instructions, but when I go into MetaMorph to update the theme, an error pops up that says, "The theme you selected is invalid because the theme control file could not be read and may be missing." Any ideas?

If you use warm 2.2 either donate to get the RLS5 beta, or wait a few days to get the final. Either way RLS5 has themed swype built in.

Thanks! Did not see that. Probably should put that link on the main Rom page and replace it. I see that is what the guy in the video is using, too.

Hmmmmm. I may do that but I really want it now, lol. I can be impatient like that. Id this new fix gives me issues, I will wait for Rls 5. Is it dropping this week?

Well that new zip did work.
But everytime I install Swype, move it to the system/app folder and reboot, it's not there for use when I get back.
I guess I'll just wait for Rls 5 to include it. I've been trying this since yesterday.

I'm also having a similar problem. I first move the inputmethod.apk from /data/apps to /system/apps, reboot my phone, then apply the update through metamorph, reboot my phone again. Then the phone loads up, it says swype doesn't exist. Any suggestions?

Just upgrade to RLS5. Now that Swype is on the official Sprint ROM, it can be included in custom ROMs. RLS5 is a good upgrade, and it will have the themed Swype already there.

Ok I got all the bugs worked out and I think it's ready for public testing.
May i present the first ROM for the Motorola Bravo:

Includes:
-Fully Deodexed Framework and Apps
--Deodexed means fully themeable
-Optimized/zip aligned apks
-Bloatware Removed:
--All ATT Bloat (except FM Radio app)
--Vlingo, Where and YP
--Vsuite voice commander is gone
-Atrix Forest Live Wallpaper (weather changing)
-Atrix ringtones and notifications
-Wifi Tethering is included
-New bootanimation thanks to heydabop!
-Minor tweaks/enhancements
-stock swype (deodexed) included
-you will retain root, superuser, busybox, and bravo recovery.
NOTE: if you have swype beta I would recommend uninstalling it first and ridding your phone of all swype beta files. then flash the rom, then remove the stock swype and its lib and then install swype beta. if you are using stock swype you can just flash the rom.
Instructions
1) Bootstrap Recovery using my bootstrap recovery app (found in the android market, now that I am done with the ROM I will focus on finishing the ad supported version of the app, for now please consider supporting my work and buying recovery from the market)
2) Perform a nandroid backup.
3) Dont wipe anything!
4) Select to flash the zip from your sdcard.
5) reboot. the update.zip will wipe your dalvik cache for you which will slow down your next boot, let it take a while, dont pull the battery.
6) Go to about and confirm it says bravoX RC2. The boot animation should be good proof the flash worked too

Battery icon looks great. I will load it onto his tomorrow.

I loaded the dark status bar mod and even with the dark clock I still think its awesome. I love the icons and the colors, they are super frigan cool.

@ bandroidx I do have one problem. When I try to launch the camera app it closes by itself and a message appears briefly saying, "Oops, cannot open camera, please try again later." I wiped cache and dalvik again just to make sure. I also cleared app data for it under application tab and still have the same problem. You think I should wipe data/cache/dalvik and reflash rom?

Lets wait to see if any other testers have this problem, maybe its unrelated in some way.
actually, you flashed heydabops framework? he did have market problems at one point, i wonder if camera is also affected.
Can someone w/o the batt mod or status bar mod report back
and someone else with the mod?
I will check my phone in the meantime.

Ok I just tested and my camera works fine w/ RC2 + heydabops dark status bar.
can you run alogcat and send me the log?

My camera works with my status bar, tho I'm still on RC1.

I had the problem before flashing heydabop's icons. I've never ran a logcat. I'll look up how to do it and get it to you.

Nice. I just got this loaded onto my phone along with heydabop's theme and it looks great so far even though I'm still having problems trying to get rid of this "permanent" sliding lock screen and get back the option "allow apps from unknown sources" since that disappeared and I have no clue how to fix those two.
The mod works fine, though.

So far so good Bando! Thanks for it all. I'm needing a lesson on UOT kitchen now.

saw you got it working in the other thread, maybe it was a corrupt download. they happen.

Well i had usb debugging on and turned it off the last time and it work. Could that just be coincidence?

[Q] Problems in Applying Themes on My Epic 4G

I hate to bother you guys, but apparently I am doing something wrong. I have searched and read and searched and read and cannot find my problem.
I rooted my Epic 4g using the following process:

I then installed the following ROM (the standard version):

I followed this with an attempt to install several themes, one of them being the following:

The theme applies, but the background does not appear on all of my screens, such as in the background of the program pages. Also the icons that are pictured on the theme do not appear there.
Am I doing something wrong here or have I failed to understand the process. Thanks for your consideration.

Wipe cache and dalvik. The theme you posted doesn't work for some.

Seems to me like you're doing everything right, maybe try re-downloading the theme or try a different one to see if the results are the same.

I just came over from Windows Mobile, so I am very new to Android and all the terminology. I am trying to read and understand, however. How would I know whether I am on EC05 or not? I do know that I am using the standard ROM from this SRF and not the Touchwise version.

I was also wondering if it was possible that the rooting process did not completely take. Can that happen? If I have "superuser" in my programs, does that mean that the rooting was completely successful? Or is there another way to tell that my phone has been fully rooted.

I haven't tried that theme so I wouldn't know of issues, but to check for ec05 go to settings - about - baseband version. That will tell you. You have superuser and the best way to test your root, imo, is to run android terminal emulator and type "su", no quotes of course, and it should ask to allow super user rights and hit yes the command prompt will show a # symbol. The app is free from the market. Android terminal emulator by Jack Palavich. You can also open titanium backup and it will tell you. Afterwards open the su app and you should a list of allowed programs. Hope that helps!

Thank you very much, you guys have been extremely helpful. It turns out I do have EC05 ROM and when I opened Titanium and then went to "su" it listed it and a three other programs there on the first screen. That's great. I will try some other themes. Maybe the one suggested by Overstew.

MIUI v1.11.18

Anyone run this latest version? If so are you having any issues with it?
I have 1.09.20 on mine. Im afraid to update. Everything runs great for me. Only reason I want to update is to use the ESCEnter, Left and Right mods. I cant find them for 1.09.20 anymore.

When you installed did you need to back up apps? Thats another reason I havent upgraded. I read the way themes were installed changed and locations changed. I dont want to lose my Jorte theming or my MIUI theming that Ive done.

Well, first off. You can always just make a nandroid of ur 1.9 rom, and just try 1.11.18. Anything you don't like and you can go right back. I always do a fresh install, and re-dl my apps manually from the market every friday. Just easier for me.
Titanium backup, or the miui app backup should work if you decide to do a fresh install.
Location of themes? Still in sdcard/miui/themes, still mtz's. They changed a way the file compresses a while back. But that doesn't hurt anything, or change.
I'm at like 160 mtz's on my sd card i've been gathering since march, none have ever gotten messed up or lost. Same with wallpapers I've collected from the theme manager.

Ive got it installed. So far no issues other than MIUI extended settings not working at all.

Try going to settings/manage apps select the youtube app and turn off compatibility mode.

Read the OP of the extended settings mod thread here. It's not just a flashable zip any more, there is the zip but you also need the apk, it should explain everything. I'd select the no-overscroll mod, last time I tried overscroll there were network issues (basically no service). I'm still on 11.11 but the no-overscroll works perfectly for me.

Did. The ESCenter, Right, and Switched still dont work. Which was the reason I wanted to update.

Not sure what to tell you, I just updated to 11.18 to see if it works and it's fine for me. You have to reboot or reset your status bar by changing themes in the theme manager for the right/center/switched layouts to take effect.

Everything works now except the volume button. It works in recovery, but not in the rom.

Did some more testing. The volume also works in apps to turn down the music level and the volume works if I open the notification toggles and hit the sound button and the volume button right after.

[App] Fix S-Voice Network Error W/ Download Link (Root Explorer Fix)

USE AT OWN RISK
Download S-Voice - not modded apk
download and install like you would any other app
Fix S-Voice Network Error
After installing the S Voice app, use a root explorer app to edit your build.prop
Change...
ro.product.model= ( your Phone )
To
ro.product.model=GT-I9300
and also change
ro.product.device=GT-I9300
HowTo Manually Edit your build.prop File.
Open Root Explorer
Scroll down to your /system directory and tap on it.
At the top of the screen tap the button that says 'Mount R/W' (it will change to 'Mount R/O')
Long press on your build.prop file and select 'Open In Text Editor'.
Your build.prop file is now fully editable, please pay attention to what you are changing!
Make Changes
Hit back twice, Root Explorer will ask you to save it. Tap 'yes'.
Reboot
Root Explorer (File Manager) - Android Apps on Google Play

It works but what about everything you want it to do locks up? Set alarm..lock up. Maps, lock up. Lol does anything work?

i used the command navigate to (Location)
and it worked
i believe the alarm part does not work cause it depends on the clock from gs3

you should try the modded apk then cause not having any of those issues with that apk.

but u have to force install that apk file by coping it to system and changing permissions
that is to hard for some people

Es file explorer, super manager are easy to use not hard at all

if you want to post the file link to the other apk and detailed instructions i will add it to op

thats what im saying.. when modded apk is posted id try that. i had it but uninstalled already and didnt back it up. but it is good to have two options.. if its too hard to set permissions they can take your route .. i personally only used it to check weather lol.. and i did ask this:

You do know every thing we do in here is at your own risk. You could of said hey I am running blah blah blah rom and did the fix but it wont let my phone boot up. So that others reading this would know that there are even more risks... Jus' Sayin'

your right, i apologize, I'm on CM9 alpha 4. epic 4g touch. and i did this "fix" and it wouldn't let me boot my phone so i had to re insatll the CM9 rom through odin to get it to boot again.
try it out if you guys want but make sure you have odin and whatever rom your currently on.

Hahaha couldn't help but laugh. Playya is right OPs are not responsible for what happens to your phone.

Should I revert back to the old build.prop before flashing a different rom?
Edit: So I did some reading and figured it out. Sometimes it's better to look for the answer on ur own. Ignorance is not bliss!
