Wow... that looks like a genuinely decent replacement for the Rhodium. As far as the exterior hardware goes, I would definitely love something like that to replace the Rhodium! The milled aluminum/white ABS plastic body, combined with the rounded sides and sharp edges immediately make me think of one of the new MacBooks. If that existed right now and would get a WM7 upgrade, I would definitely consider purchasing it (as long as it isn't powered by a Qualcomm MSM7xxx)

(If I was going to do real photography, I would use a camera, not a cameraphone so I dont think anything larger than 5mp is really needed)

WIFI/Bluetooth (no wimax, because seriously.. whos gonna need it?)
3.5mm Headphone jack
Dedicated camera button on the side (the on-screen one is annoying)
Also as an afterthought I would have removed the notification LEDs
and placed them internally near the top, so the HTC logo glows when you have a text / have wifi on / new message etc

whatever the TP3 may be, I just want it to run WP7S better than any phone in the market when it releases, and available at T-Mobile w/ a price point like the HD2 release

1) i take it on one corner will be the stylus housing?
2) perhaps a flash for the camera? i miss the "torch" function...which can actually be offset by lighting up your screen....but it's kinda nifty
3) kudos on the storage capacity spec of 16gb....or maybe we can bump this to 32

my response:
1) there wouldnt be a stylus because lets face it Windows Phone 7 doesnt really need one and also it would be a capacitive screen anyway, so it would have to be some kinda funky stylus or a sausage
2) If they included a flash it would have to be a real decent one because ive never seen a cameraphone flash which has been any help

Something with the HD2's massive screen and 1GHz processor would be awesome. Plus a good/big hardware keyboard. I also hope there is a decent graphics chip, as that would really enhance performance.
I would be thrilled if there was an Android option too.. but judging by HD2/Supersonic it looks like Android may lag behind in release.
And yeah, trackball (or some sort of joystick/d-pad) is one of those excellent overlooked features (very grateful to have one on my Nexus One).

I completely agree. Not excited for wp7 and how its going the route the iphone went with the utter lack of customizability. Android would be sweet though.

These renders do a great job of putting a visual form on the same fantasy that many of us here have had...an HD2 with just that extra few mm of thickness, and the mid-waist split that could only mean one thing; a dancepad for the thumbs (aka "hardware keyboard")
Well Cris, when HTC finally wizens up and decides to officially release this monster, we'll remember where the design first saw the light of day!
What would you like to see in the next HTC Phone? Choose? And also post what you would like to see and have.
Good hardware. I.e., a camera sensor that doesn't suck, use of NAND rather than SD card for storage, screens which doesn't look washed out.
HTC has a lot of stepping up to do for me to consider another device from them. I was pretty happy with my HD2, but the HD7 I initially picked up went back to the store real quick. In the end I ended up with the Omnia 7 from Samsung instead.
Hardware
I switched for the first time from HTC, couldn't accept the Surround. Get rid of that rediculous speaker setup and replace it with their great keyboard. At least a 4.3" screen equal to the Super AMOLED of the Samsung Focus, maximum amount of internal memory (32GB would be fine with me), HDMI port.
I would vote for 32GB+ NAND flash for sure, all other things aren't important as far as I'm concerned.
More importantly, I'd like to see more than one next HTC WP7 phone (just as Samsung phones, and phones from other OEMs).
Because at this point of time, sales numbers for the next few quarters will determine the fate of WP7. And without phones you won't get those numbers. None of the OEMs is or will be capable of making just one phone that'll drive the OS forward.
No matter how much MS will talk about "sales aren't important" and "we're in it for the long haul", they are facing lots of pressure from investors, this isn't the time of XBox launch. Unlike many, I don't think that the launch was a failure (getting 2% of smartphone sales is awesome with so few devices and on half the carriers), but MS will need to ramp it up aggressively, and it can't be done by ads alone no matter how much they spend.
That there are no leaks with MWC looming is troubling.

Agreed. During the initial launch we knew about pretty much every phone that was going to be released by this point. The only thing I've seen this time around is that Asus phone.
As for what I'd want in the next phone, physical buttons and half-decent build quality.
Microsoft knows that it has a major uphill battle. Most phone sales are due to word of mouth (a friend has one and loves/hates it) over TV ads. Windows Mobile had a bad rap when compared to Android and the iPhoney, due to its lack of upgrades.
Microsoft needs to blow the lid off this, work with providers to make KICK ASS phones that people want for fair prices.
As for HTC phones, anything over a 4.3" display is getting a little too big (don't people keep their phones in their pockets ?)for a phone. This is getting into the tablet area but, if there is NO QWERTY keyboard, the display MUST be at least 4"
Fast, "great quality, good sized display", modern tech (DLNA, FM, A-GPS, NFC...etc), QWERTY keyboard with a small form factor. If HTC has it, great, if someone else, maybe then it's for me.
I was loyal to HTC for a while but, I have had some crappy phones, so I am open to try others to see how good they are.

The great thing about WP7 is that it doesn't really matter (shhh, don't tell OEMs). It makes a huge difference. My Mozart is the first HTC phone I've had that doesn't need a new ROM. It's marvellous what no OEM software does to a phone.

To the OP:
You should change the QuadBand World Phone to Pentaband 3G. That's what should become the new standard for high end phones at this point.
I want dual core processor, 1gb RAM, better camera sensor/software and a hardware keyboard in a device with a 4" SLCD. Maybe one with LTE support

Let's see, we have:
1) Samsung Focus S announced by AT&T
2) Samsung Focus Flash announced by AT&T
3) Samsung Omnia 7 S (made up name) leaked by the FCC
All these seem to sport Super AMOLED screens which is great. We do need information on availability and storage options but the Focus S sounds very promising. Today I'm much more likely to buy a Samsung Mango phone over a HTC.

Too bad AT&T axed Unlimited Data. That's a showstopper for me, and I'm guessing lots of other people.

I spent about 2 grand on phones in 2010-2011. I'll be frugal for the next few years, so whatever phone I get in the next 1-3 months well... I'll just take a contract out cause I won't be giving anything else a try.
They better knock this **** out of the ballpark. Really, they're running out of chances and it's not like the issue of low storage in the devices wasn't a hot topic following the release of the 1st gen WP7 devices...
Though it voids the warranty WP7 are not hard to upgrade the memory. i'm being alittle hypocritical pointing this out, consdiering I bought a 32gb DVP when I could saved $100 getting a cheaper one with lower storage and upgrading. Prior to the DVP comingto AT&T I also got an HTC surround over the LG b/c of storage, though I prefer physical keyboards.
It depends on what WP7 device you have. It's not easy to upgrade the storage on an HD7. There is no user-accessible SD Card Slot. You literally have to open some of these phones up to get at those slots. Lots of devices have tape inside that clearly indicates if teh phone has been opened up. Some of them have stuff in the screws that makes it obvious if you even stuck a screwdriver in them, nevermind opened it up, and they'll void your warranty if that's been tampered with (they won't even touch it, they'll just say you're on your own - I know people this has happened to).
That's like saying it's not hard to remove the battery from an iPhone, in many cases.
$100 to go from 15 to 32G when you can be absolutely assured that it will work correctly is worth it. Many of us would have paid that, but we didn't get the choice - at all.
The DVP didn't have a 32G option until many months after it was released. For the first 6 months or so all Dell Had were 8 and 16 GB options.
Plus that device only has 256MB RAM, IIRC, which is a showstopper for me. Not to mention the camera on it is beyond terrible.

This time around I'm a little undecided. I'm leaning towards the Focus S, but I would consider the Titan too. I would like to have a physical keyboard as well, but it seems all of the Mango devices aren't available with that option. I guess I might hold out for a little while, but I would like to upgrade before the end of the year.

Supposedly it has lower specs so that it is priced competitively, makes total sense to me since they're already releasing the Focus S with SAMOLED+ and a 4.3" screen.
Jesus, these announcements are going to turn me into a WP7 hater soon.
Just what's wrong with these OEMs? Why in the world do they equate high end with oversized screens?

There's a pretty easy to follow guide to change the HD7's SD Card without voiding warranty. Don't have to take out the screw with the void warranty sticker on it & can move the tape out of the way pretty easily. That being said, never done it, because of the compatibility issues with SD Cards & WP7.

My most important features: Screen size (less than 4"), Camera (high quality with dual led), and something not there build quality.
I am pretty much all in for the Nokia 800. Second choice is the Samsung Omnia W.
For me there has to be a hardware keyboard - I just hate capacitive touch keyboards.
Price, can't be more than $100 with no contract. And of course, significantly better than my LG Quantum, otherwise I have no reason to upgrade.
I LOVE massive phones, I went from my HD2, to an HD7, and if God would answer my prayers, the Titan would come to T-Mobile, though, soon enough it won't matter as I'm hoping we become AT&T. So, I voted for FFC since it's already a given to me that I'm going for a big phone. Screen type would probably be a close second for me, as I like the HD7 screen, but really wish it were a higher quality, but hey, I'm asking to be spoiled now, right?

I personally go for what I find better overall regardless of the OEM.

I personally love HTC, I know I'm probably in the current minority, for some odd reason as they're the only phones to consistently update without an issue, but Nokia is also winning over my heart.
I really want my Mozart to be my last HTC ever. But it's been my desire to abandon them since like 2005, and I still was forced to buy their stuff because others were mostly even worse.
In your list, it goes like this: screen less than 4", 16GB minimum (64 preferred), usable camera, 1500+ mAH battery. No pentile crap. Looks are also kind of important, but I can live with something less than stellar.
The leaks and announcements really make me sad, I don't see anything really attractive. SeaRay is almost there but it looks like it'll come with PenTile, so it's most probably a no go...
I'm with FiyaFleye, I like HTC and and have seen problems that would affect with other OEMS that I don't have with my Fuze. Nokia I have no idea on that but haven't had one in 4 yrs and it was a dumbphone. However not willing to wait another 3 months+ for them either. I would like a hardware keyboard with a smaller screen would be first choice, or go with a big screen so I can type well. Extra nick nacks are always a plus if they are usable, and 1 gig > processor for some future app usage is good too.
This list would have been so much easier in Aug before they started announcing phones, I'm just waiting for mine to come to the USA.
I'd love to get my hands on a Nokia WP7 phone, but that could take a while and the HTC Titan is kinda expensive over here.
I'll prolly just get a Samsung Omnia W if I get too impatient, really wanna see what the better CPU/GPU can do for my emulator.

I will only consider getting a phone that isn't a nokia if the storage space is 32gb or above (and nokia only offer 16gb variants).
If storage space doesn't improve by the end of the year I will probably jump ship to android, even though I prefer Windows Phone my music collection is a must for me.
I'm hoping *fingers crossed* that the Nokia 800 will come in 16gb and 64gb variants like the N9 and thus will be my next phone (in blue )

I don't know any one that actually uses the FFC...nothing but a gimmick.
I´m asking myself if I need a new WP in general...
My OMNIA 7 has all features I use daily (less DLNA and skype support).
So today I took a look at the new HTC devices:
1. HTC Omega is too small.
2. HTC Titan is too big for my taste.
The display is much better than the HD7 display but not even better than the OMNIA 7 display. Also the general quality of the phone is very good: less plastic parts and good working hardware buttons (compared with the HD7).
Do I need a HTC Titan 4.7" notebook in my pocket ? I don´t think so.
The upcoming OMNIA W will only have 8 GB, maybe 16GB... is this what I need ? I don´t think so either.
A general question is: Do I really need a FF cam ? How many videocalls I made in the past ? I only made normal voip calls...
I would say the only hope is that the NOKIA Empire strikes back... and I don´t think that the new devices will have more than 16 GB.
I hope that I´m wrong, but I think it´s better to wait 3 or 4 month before buying a new WP.

I never thought I'd say this, but camera is my #1. Since everyone seems to be pinching pennies these days and both of my old 5MP point-and-shoots are just crappy, my phone has become my #1 camera for both stills and video. I remember when cameras first came out on cell phones and I was thinking, "why?" All that, and baby is now 12 weeks old, so I'm taking pictures like crazy!
Screen size is a close second. I doubt I could ever go smaller than my 4" Focus screen at this point.
I'd like to try and maintain an ongoing list of what the community has to say about this phone. Hopefully people can make a well informed buying decision with the help of this list.

Nexus. Will be maintained by google, not the carrier.

size - despite the 4.65" screen size it is not much bigger than other phones with 4.3",4.5" displays

Cons
Non expandable storage. While the device comes with 16GB/32GB storage and does support external USB media, it adds extra bulk to the phone. There are no simple ways to extend your storage capabilities without adding extra bulk, or risking losing data coverage and not being able to access your cloud storage.
Mixed Opinions
Lack of Gorilla Glass. Will have another brand of unknown quality.
Outdated GPU. I put this in mixed opinions as many people speculate that this hardware was hand picked by the makers of android, and has already proven to handle anything thrown at it.
Lack of physical buttons. Really depends on the user. I personally like where they are going with this.
Exclusiveness. There are many rumors, and this will be moved or deleted when we know more. I personally find it to be a con if it is truly exclusive to Verizon, as the more carriers offer this, the more people will get there hands on it, hence more developers will flock to this phone.
Price. Currently we only have an unofficial price for the international version, which I don't see any complaints for.

Indeed, I originally had under mixed opinions, that both the CPU/GPU were outdated as the SGSII has a 1.5 Dual core, clock speeds can be decieving. There is no doubt that this 1.2 can compete with the rest of the high end devices with higher clock speed.

Personally, don't see an issue with the size, nor do I see many others commenting on its size. It is comparable to all the other devices currently being released. I will be keeping these off the list until I see a few others request them to be added.

i guess i would second this and here's why. is it Huuuge? no, its the same as other phones. However, that is what makes it a con, it is the same as other phones. the nexus inst meant to be the same as other phones. Each nexus is meant to be a taste of the future. Just my $.02
The bezel is larger than most phones by HTC and Motorola. It's comparible to the Galaxy series and the iPhone... Take a look at how thin the bezel is on the HTC DesireHD/Inspire. There's only just enough room for the speaker grill, that's it. The bottom bezel actually serves a functional purpose, making the use of the phone more comfortable, but the top? Urgh...
The only cons is size IMO. Everything else is great. But since my SGS2 is perfect size IMO, I hope Galaxy Nexus will be OK too.
A huge pro for me is that, the hardware was specifically created to work with ICS, sometimes I just feel that other devices just slap an update on a phone to get it out there and then you get a bunch of bugs and defects. Also knowing that this phone, is the phone in mind when making future OTA updates.
I wanted a Nexus device ever since the Nexus One came out but I had Verizon, I'm very happy to hear that I can have one now.
I'm only hoping that the with the 5 MP camera, will a have very nice lense and shutter so it can at least compare to my Incredible 2 or maybe even the iPhone.

Non expandable storage
I used to think this was an issue but two things changed my mind. 1) I got a Galaxy Tab. No removable storage and I never think about it. It was a big con when the Tab came out but nobody even talks about this anymore. 2) I've had Android phones for 2 years now. All of them have had removable SD cards. Funny thing, I've never removed them.

I've never had Gorilla Glass and have never broken a phone's glass. Not an issue to me. I'm careful.
Lack of physical buttons.
No physical buttons on the Galaxy Tab (Honeycomb). It's a LOT better than physical buttons. Why? ALL Android devices from now on will have the same layout. I've had an Original Droid, an Incredible and now a Thunderbolt. The button layout isn't the same on these devices. I still find I'm pressing the back when I meant the home button. That never happens to me on the Tab.
Exclusiveness.
I'm a Verizon user, my company's a Verizon user. Not an issue. I'm glad for this. I can use data when the guy standing next to me with an AT&T Android phone gets "no network" messages. Other than those two phone companies the others are just niche players.
Physical Size
Before my Thunderbolt I had an Incredible. I considered the Incredible the perfect size. Light, thin and fit well in the shirt pocket. Never, I said, would I go to the massively large phone. Then I got a Thunderbolt. I can't imagine what I was thinking. I was a size-bigot fool. The size of the Thunderbolt is fabulous. Yes, it's a tad heavier than the Incredible but it feels well in the hand and the screen size is perfect. I was one of those who made a brash statement without the experience to go with it. Now that I've have experience with both a small phone and a large phone I'll never go back to the small screen again. I say, for those of you with large screen phobias, say nothing until you've experienced it for a week or two. I bet you'll change your mind.

Outdated GPU. I put this in mixed opinions as many people speculate that this hardware was hand picked by the makers of android, and has already proven to handle anything thrown at it.
Lack of physical buttons. Really depends on the user. I personally like where they are going with this.
Exclusiveness. There are many rumors, and this will be moved or deleted when we know more. I personally find it to be a con if it is truly exclusive to Verizon, as the more carriers offer this, the more people will get there hands on it, hence more developers will flock to this phone.
Price. Currently we only have an unofficial price for the international version, which I don't see any complaints for.

OK. I agree with all of this.
Nexus line is great, it can overwhelm phones from 2 generations ahead.
The screen resolution is great too. Pentile doesn't even matter, the resolution almost omits its presence.
ICS. Much smoother. Much more customization. Much more versatile and beautiful.
The CPU it more than enough. People are *****ing about "OH ****! Only 1.2GHz?!", but really, that's way more than enough, unless you're a benchmark bug. "Yo! I got a phone that already runs everything great, but I just want a better one because I want 10k Quadrant points...! Fuuuuuu!"
When you say "Non-Expandable Storage", no phone has that. Even SD compatible phones are limited to xGB size SD card maximum. For example, the RAZR will have a maximum of 48 GB because 16 internal + 32 SD Maximum = 48. And also, 32 GB of super fast NAND memory is great. I don't know what you want to ***** about. You wanna have super HD videos and/or photos? Just keep putting them on your PC instead of mass storing them on your phone without need.
The lack of Gorilla Glass is well put under Mixed Opinions, since it might mean something BETTER than Gorilla Glass. The Nexus S had a very very resistive glass technology/material.
The outdated GPU: Did anyone prove that this GPU is outdated? In terms of sufficient performance for Android platform? Did anyone show that? I don't think so. And you don't too. I think people are just *****ing about it the same way I explained it for the CPU.
Lack of physical buttons: I think this is an element that Google decided to have because it can enable much much more creativity. I believe that CM team or Google itself will unlock a way of changing the button icon, or even add or remove buttons. I think it is really great, and it probably also cuts down a bit on prices since physical buttons are basically a touch-capable screen/membrane for each button, which would possibly cost a little bit instead of making a little bigger screen for buttons.
Exclusiveness: Not a problem in my country, I believe, so, no comments here.
Price: Pretty much unknown, but I'm expecting a 500 ~ 600€ range (700 ~ 800$).

A 1.2 dual-core exynos is better than a 1.5 dual-core qualcomm. And a brand new OMAP 4460 1.2 dual-core is at the very least equaled to, if not better than, the 1.5 qualcomm as snapdragon's are probably the lesser performing of processors available

DITTO!!! WTF are folks complaining about with this type of hardware being outdated??? Huh??? Outdated??? We're talking about 1.2 dual-core proc that will be fitt'in in something that can put in your front shirt pocket, along with a multi-touch screen, and enough memory that you wouldn't be able to shake a stick at!
Anyway, i'm sure enough looking for the 32gb version.

Bezel size of top and bottom and thickness. Would have liked to have seen something pushing limits for the Nexus line.
Weak GPU - Scares the crap out of me in terms of GUI.
Not clear what the DAC is.
AMOLED will likely have bluish tints on white and push reds.
Vid clips on YT seem to show inconsistent framerate in HD videos. I hate choppiness and I get this weird feeling the UI and HD videos will simply not be as smooth as they should be.

No one has to 'prove' the gpu is outdated, the specs and how long its been around (since 2007) already prove that.
The gpu in the OMAP 4460 is definitely slower than the mali 400 in the exynos, as well as the A5 in the iPhone4S.
Id wager its on par, or maybe even slightly slower than the qualcomm in my tmobile galaxy SII.
Its not the end of the world, and i have no doubt the nexus is gonna be a powerful device, but its not Samsungs flagship.
Samsung is saving the 1.5ghz exynos and other goodies for the next round of battle against the iPhone5 it looks like
