Hey
I had loads of problems with my desire hanging so i decided to try and download the htc generic roms and run them!
RUU_Bravo_HTC_Europe_1.15.405.1_Radio_32.30.00.28U_4.05.00.11_release_121684
Also tried
RUU_Bravo_HTC_Europe_1.15.405.3_Radio_32.30.00.28U_4.05.00.11_release_121865
but they all hanged during the upgrade so now im totally stuck with a black screen or the White ruu screen saying:
------------------
BRAVO Unknown Ship S-ON
HBOOT-0.75.0000
MicroP-031d
Touch Panel SYNT0101
RADIO-4.05.00.11

RUU
-----------------
Is there any way to save my desire or is it bricked? and should i send it to htc support? I should have warranty i hope since its merely 2 month old!
One more question, before i ran these roms i HAVE NOT rooted my desire! Do i have to do so? My desire is currently still UNROOTED! Could that be the reason why the rom upgrades are failing or is it possible to do them on unrooted desires?
Although i dont even know if its possible to root it in this state.....
Is your handset branded? If so, did you create a goldcard?
Exactly what state is your handset currently in? Does it boot to use as normal?
If I were you I would read THIS and root your phone. Then install any rom you want. There are official and custom roms galore in the dev section.
If you have tried to install an incorrect rom on the phone and messed it up then I doubt HTC would honour the warranty anyway so there is no fear in rooting it! The only known bricking issue on these phones has a fix now so you haven't lost anything.
My phone boots up to that RUU error message so it doesnt boot!
The problem was it stopped booting all of a sudden with the original rom! It just hanged at the White startup screen with the green HTC letters!
But i could enter the Fastboot, Recovery, etc... menu!
So with that i tried with the USB to download the generic original roms! But after they failed (both of them) now each time i boot i get the HTC blackscreen with the error triangle inside!
But i can still install new roms, through the usb but none of them can finish after like 80% so they can still connect to the phone from the computer through usb!
The phone is unbranded as in not connected to any operator like vodafone or such! and its not rooted either!
so u think i should try to root it?
If it is definitely unbranded then no goldcard is needed. I'd say you should go for it and try to root it. Just to confirm it's unbranded, it doesn't have any network operator software on it at all? No boot screen or any operator apps or anything?
You will need to check the link I gave you and follow the instructions religiously! It's actually a fairly painless process. I found the easiest was the tiny core linux method. You don't need any linux experience to use it as you just type in about 4 lines of text.
Failing that, if it simply never goes past the boot screen then no one will know you tried to root! So it would be a simple warranty return to the place you got it, and as far as you are concerned you got up one morning and the phone was off. You tried to turn it on and the rest is history! I told the carphone warehouse that and was given a new handset there and then, but was within my first 14 days of contract. It was a usb brick in my case and there was no fix for ir then. There is now though..
okay so im getting almost all the way on step 1!
except at the end of every push of files it says
FAILED (remote: 51 partition update fail)
anyone know any fix? also how do i know which bootloader i have 0,75 or 0,8 and which rom i have previously??
before everything i know i had android 2.1 .. is that my rom too? like 1.21?

To check your bootloader, switch the phone on by pressing the volume down button while pressing power. The second line of text will say HBOOT the number after that is your bootloader.
As for that error... No idea. Sorry!
dang... anyone got any ideas bout the error 51? and how to fix it?
try rooting with goldcard method
Also stuck with RUU USB
Did you get a resolution for this? I'm experiencing a bad time with RUU USB too. My phone started out as an unbranded Magic 32A from HK and seems to be a European now, as it only likes installing the European RUUs (and even then only goes as far as 36%)!
EDIT:
I've since had it repaired by HTC themselves. Their engineers couldn't fix it (allegedly) so they replaced the mobo.
Cost me HK$1500! F***!
Hi Gurus,
Since the last two weeks , I have tried almost all the options to debrand the Htc Desire Orange UK version, but not success, Below was my cell stock information when I purchased it.
Htc Desire Black Edition (PVT1) not brown one
Froyo 2.2
Hboot = 0.93.0001
Radio = 5.10
CID=ORANG001
I wanted to debrand it to generic from the Orange then I rooted it with UnRevoked and S-Off through AlphaRev and executed the file "RUU_Bravo_Froyo_HTC_WWE_2.29.405.5_Radio_32.49.00.32U_5.11.05.27_release_159811_signed.exe" from shipped Roms.
After that I got the Radio V2 Fail, When I restarted the cell, there was no display, even the charging light was off.
I contacted a person that has RiffBox, he flashed it and changed the CID from ORANG001 to HTC__001.
My cell new configuration is as below :
Hboot=0.930001
Radio=4.06
CID=HTC__001
Right now I have only fastboot and hboot access with no ROM in cell phone .
After that I tried almost all the Roms from the shipped-roms's bravo secton, they gives 2 types of error upon executing :
1. partition update failed (error on Radio v2 pu fail)
2. signature verification failed.
I want to debrand my cell to generic one , so that I can get rid of Orange stuff.
I am stuck at that point, needed the expert guidance to pass through this situation.
Thanks

Given that you are s-off and rooted why would you not just install one of the stock rooted ROMs from the second post in this thread?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=809328
I personally would not have changed the CID, can you install your stock RUU anymore?
Thanks 'welshbloke70' for reply.
Well, After having flashed with RiffBox my cell is no longer rooted or s-off.
Currently I have just fastboot and only hboot menu access. RECOVERY is not operational now.
When I turned on the cell, it directly comes to fastboot menu due to no
ROM in cell after flashing. So in this case I can only install from RUU or PB99IMG.zip, the xda link you gave have all the the ROMS but for rooted cell phones.
As now I have changed CID (HTC__001) which is the generic one, so I dont get any CID error upon installing generic RUU.
Any other suggestion would be appreciated.
Thanks,

I guess the forum is out of gurus so you're stuck with us lot. Try this thread to solve your problem: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=796975
Hi Paul,
I think the Gurus/expert are there are too much busy thats why they can not respond.
Well I saw your given link. It requires clockworkmod or Armon recovery, currently I am not rooted, so can not use the roms there.
Thanks,

Do you have a Gold Card??? Cause your problem sounds pretty bad. Since you aren't rooted and you don't have a recovery, it is pretty obvious that you can't install a custom ROM.
I guess you tried also the latest version of RUU which is 2.29.405.5 if you are from EUROPE.
From what I've read you can flash an branded RUU or another RUU on a branded phone only if you have a Gold Card. Now I don't know if this applies to you since you are no longer branded, but you can give it a shot if you haven't tried yet.
I think there is a tutorial on how to make a Gold Card even if you can't access the phone or see the screen. I'll look for it and post it here.
Hope this helps you.

Thanks 'UsManyDead' for taking interest in my case. The answers are as below :
1. Yes, I have gold card, for now its useless. Because as I know we need the gold card only if we are going to install a rom that is different from the current cell CID.
In my case I have already changed my CID from ORANG001 to HTC__001 and any generic RUU supports HTC__001 so there is no need of gold card in my case.
2. Any custom rom can not be installed due to fact that cell is no more rooted.
Only PB***.zip or Ruu can solve the problem. I have tried almost all the roms and ruu from shipped-roms. but they give 2 types of errors as I mentioned in my first post. I have also tried 2.29.405.5 many times but no success.
I know the options are becoming very few , but I hope that I will pass through this failure from you and xda community users.
Any other advice will be welcomed.
Thanks
Hello once again. I just read a little more about your problem, which is very rare but found some good threads you should read and try.
REMEMBER TO READ THEM IN FULL ( FROM FIRST PAGE TILL THE LAST ONE ) and maybe post your problem there, might be easier to get help.
First thread: ht tp://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=880268 ( even if it is for bricked SLCD, something in there might actually help, for example how to get the PB99IMG.zip from a RUU file)
Second thread (a continuation of the first): ht tp://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=831734
Third thread (where I actually found your exact problem): ht tp://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1000385 . Someone explains some kind of "voodoo" to be done to repair the error you get, and there are positive results, and I think you can use the first 2 thread to get the PB99IMG.zip.
Give it a try and remember to read them in full to understand. Hope this helps. Good luck.

Hi mate don't know if this can help you....i got usb bricked with my rooted and s-off desire. I flashed a an RUU thinking it would solve my issue but of course it just left me with a USB Brick unrooted! You can't write to that and no access with Adb. I got great help from Unrevoked page which fixed me by getting me back to root.
I summarised the process here:

Hope you might have success with your issue. If this does not help directly you might follow the link to the help page on UnRevoked.....

Thank all of you for taking interest in my problem.
At the end I have got success BUT with failure. Here is my story.
1. Erased and Flashed with RiffBox with CID=11111111 (super id)
2. Kept cell phone in refrigerator for only 5 minutes.
3. Installed the new ROM from PB99IMG.zip (PB99IMG_2.29.405.5_Radio_32.49.00.32U_5.11.05.27_release_159811_signed.zip ) without any error.
4. Kept cell phone again in refrigerator for only 5 minutes.
5. Started the cell phone for the first time and executed setup and went till the Home screen fine.
6. Tried some games and flash intensive web sites, and ohhh the phone rebooted.
It rebooted again and again. Untill I pulled out the battery and put it again after 30 minutes, but was unable to reach home screen.
Again kept the cell phone in refrigerator and phone works for a short time before it starts reboot loop.
So the main problem is rebooting now.
I spent nearly 16 hours on net , reading forums/posts for solution but at the end found that there is no solution except the motherboard replacement.
I am in PK and here is no HTC service center. I bought it second hand so dont have any warranty card/info with me.
So its just like a piece of scrape for me.
Anyways again thank you all for the great help. May be this refrigerator solution could work for anyone.
Thanks,
Ali
Have you tried changing cid back to orange and flashing correct ruu?
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e using XDA App
No, I didn't try to change the CID to orange. And there is no orange related PB** or RUU on shipped roms.
I dont think Orange have done some customization in kernel or any other part.
I have seen threads running the generic version on orange brand phone. So it shouldn't be a issue, however bootloop problem is not related to either generic or orange brand rom , its related to motherboard.
Have you seen any post in which generic rom is initiating bootloop while the orange rom solved it ?
Thanks,
Ali
No Ali, I haven't. Seeing that you are in the dead end, I think that its worth trying everything from scratch. Don't know much about cid change, but could it be that cid is in a few places and now that you've changed it it sort of fights itself ? Will have a look into all this a bit later, I'm far from guru, but with a bit of luck should be able to find some info.

Hi tinky1,
Well, I have complete nandroid backup (boot, data, recovery and system images). I did it when I was rooted by unrevoked (clockworkmod).
Currently I have installed stock rom '2.29.405.5_Radio_32.49.00.32U_5.11.05.27_ release_159811', so how can I restore my earlier backup (i will again change the CID to orange, no issue) ?
Please remember i can not root now due to boot loop problem.
Any suggestion ?
Ali
So what do you actually have working? Bootloader, fastboot, recovery? Does phone bootloop when (if you can) you go into one of these?
Currently I have working fastboot and hboot. Recovery is not working , it stuck on HTC green logo.
Normal phone startup is also not functional, it reboots itself before it reaches 'Quietly Brilliant' logo.
I have managed to install Cyanogenmod 7 but the bootloop problem still exist. Analyzing the problem.

Has anyone ever seen this? Got this phone cheap and would like to fix it.
Can't get into bootloader, just goes to this screen and keeps rebooting ever so often.
Cheers for any help
Ok an update, it seems the volume- button is broken but back key + power worked and I got into the boot menu. Here's a pic.
Where should I go from here?
Is there a way of knowing if the phone is branded and what brand or unlocked so I can try flashing a WWE RUU?
Ok so the phone is branded T Mobile since a Tmob RUU worked just fine but with WWE ROMs I get a CID mismatch.
Made a goldcard with 2 sd cards but it doesn't work since I get a CID error mismatch again.
I should mention that after a T Mobile RUU flash that phone was still getting stuck on that same screen in post 1.
I've tried several things but still no luck with getting anywhere.
Thoughts?
EDIT: Made a successful goldcard using a different method and was able to flash the latest WWE RUU but the phone is still stuck on boot, the difference is that now it's the white screen with HTC in the middle.
So the phone doesn't even get into boot.
Can somebody help me with this??
Ruu really should Fix it. If it doesn't, first port of call should be warranty. Does ruu give no error?
Sent from my HTC Desire using Tapatalk
As I've mentioned, I got this phone for cheap so no warranty.
Nope, no errors with goldcard. Also I should mention I can't get into recovery, it just goes back into boot loop.
I suspect some partition somewhere must be corrupted.
If the phone had S-OFF it would make things so much easier.
Ok so an update, for anyone who runs into this problem.
After trying basically everything (even trying to unlock bootloader with a HTC Unlocker device with no success, probably due to action key not working) I was going to go and try to unlock the official way.
To unlock the official way I had to update the ROM so I just used the latest update which is 2.3.3 and after flashing I was finally able to boot!! So it seems like the problem was not hardware related at all.
Next I used Revolutionary to S-OFF, flashed CWM Touch and used root.zip for root access. Now I'm happy I got it all going and it's time for a sandwich, the ice cream variant
Peace!
I tried to unroot my desire, its being collected tomorrow for warranty repairs. I seem to be stuck with the 4 exclamation marks and the htc logo
when I try and flash the vodafone RUU which I thought my phone was, I get CustomerID error.
I tried a couple of other Europe and WWE roms and I get 140 bootloader error - I dont think Ill be able to make a gold card from here (can I)
any suggestions late night people?

bortak's useful troubleshooting guide
Thanks for the link - its a great guide, I could have done with it in the wee hours last night.
So I fixed it this morning, with only 40 mins to spare until collection time for warranty repair.
Here's what happened in case its of use to anyone else, same kind of problems
I didnt know you had to downgrade your alpharev s-off before returning to stock , I was running cm7 r2 version. (I still cant find the definitive answer on this, but I think you do - I only vaguley know what it does, enough to get in trouble)...
When I tried to run the RUU uk vodafone, without downgrading s-off, I got an error saying the RUU file was corrupt or it couldnt write the file. (Maybe because the Ram was distributed differently not enough space)...anyway it didnt work and I got stuck at the screen with four exclamation marks (4 !) in the corner, though when I unplugged it went to the white bootloader screen, which said bootloader version 0.00.000
I read somewhere to change s-off and managed to do that via fastboot commander, but then when I tried the RUU it stopped because Customer ID was wrong.
I tried several different RUU's just in case, but most of them gave an Incorrect bootloader error, and the vodafone ones gave the CID error.
I couldnt make a goldcard easily because I no longer had a phone, but by morning I found someone with an android phone... and managed to make a goldcard (which certainly wasnt without its difficulties, but was worth it). Just in case you find yourself in the same position, to make a goldcard the easy way, you need a phone, BUT ANY ANDROID will do, it dosent have to be your own, the numbers needed are from the sd card not the phone.
I then tried the early vodafone RUU again, same bootloader error, presumably something to do with how early a version it was, then tried a later version, and it worked.
I've never been so happy to see an electronic device booting up... 40 mins before the collection man was due (he still hasnt come though lol - 4 hours later)
I wrote this just to close the thread, and in case anyone had similar difficulties.
Hi I've been searching for days and have always been able to find answers but this one has got me.
My gf has a HTC Desire HD, pretty sure it's Vodafone since she works there. Tried to do a normal update a while ago and it never started since, just sits on the HTC logo. I can boot into fastboot hboot recovery and all that but I'm stuck as to what to do from here.
I have found a couple of WWE RUU's but the error out with a CID error, I've also found a Vodafone backup someone took from clockwork but this phone only has stock recovery and I don't know how to flash clockwork without being able to boot the phone.
Hoping someone might have an easy answer, please let me know if I need to provide more details.
Thanks.
If its rooted just place a rom on the sd and flash it with full wipe. You are not suppose to accept OTA updates if the phone is rooted if Im not mistaken. If not rooted then go to HTC websight and get the official RUU and install, instructions should be on websight.

Get me the CID and Iwill provide u with a ruu that works...VODAFONE from where? not all ruu's are available, but at least we can find one that makes your phone back to work...:good:
Unfortuanately it isn't rooted, I probably would've had more luck by now if it was.
I can't see the CID on the bootloader is there a command on fastboot or something to find this? I've been searching but can't find anything.
Sorry I thought of that afterwards, it's Vodafone Australia.
Thanks for the replies guys!
I just tried that European RUU thought I didn't have anything to loose but it came back with ERROR 132 Signature Error.
The Australian HTC site doesn't have a RUU to download that I can see.

yep, do the following: boot in hboot and choose fastboot. Then plug the phone (check that you see fastboot usb in red)
Open cmd as admin or a terminal as root and then, type fastboot getvar all. Get the INFOcidnum and paste it here. With that I will try to find a ruu that works. But stop trying flashing other things...you might mess the device.
Hi
Thanks again for the help. The cidnum: VODAP021
Hope this helps, I haven't checked out those other links yet though.

Solution!!
Ok firstly sorry it's taken me ages to post this but I finally came up with a solution to this problem using a few different guides and instructions on these forums.
So the problem was I had a Vodafone AU branded HTC Desire HD that had no root and a locked bootloader that was stuck in a bootloop after a failed official update. The main problem is that there is NO stock recovery ROM ANYWHERE for a Vodafone AU HTC Desire HD, trust me I looked and I am not new to looking for stuff like this. glevitan provided me with a WW ROM that I managed to get working with a bit of work, there are also many WW ROM's around that you should also be able to use. I'll try to explain as best I can as to how I got it to work (going from memory) so if anyone else has a similar problem they may be able to use this information.
1. Firstly find a suitable WW ROM to flash, it needs to be a PD98IMG.zip image to copy to an SD card. There is a Vodafone AU dump on this forum but that will not work if you are completely stock standard. I think you can get this zip from the RUU or maybe ask glevitan if he wouldn't mind helping in providing this again. I didn't want to link to his file but there are others around.
2. Create a goldcard. If you turn your SD card into a goldcard it will allow any ROM to be flashed, normally it would only accept the Vodafone AU one but by doing this it will accept the WW one. To do this I used a second phone to create the card.
I used the Ultimate multi tool which can be found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1180639
You may have to do a bit of reading on getting it to work, from memory you have to put in a number to a website to generate a file, I think I ended up using a different website, there's a few options in getting this done, google is your friend for this
3. Once the goldcard is created copy the PD98IMG.zip to the root directory and put it back into the phone.
4. Turn on the phone and boot to hboot by holding vol up (I think) on power on. The phone should automatically check for a suitable PD98IMG.zip file and as long as the goldcard process worked and you have a suitable ROM on the root directory it should flash it fine.
This is basically what I did and it successfully booted after a lot of looking around. I hope this helps people in the future with similar problems. If you need to ask any questions about this process as I haven't provided every single detail please feel free to contact me and I will do my best to help you out.
Thanks again to glevitan for helping and providing a suitable ROM to flash.
