hei,
the other day I dropped my desire and now I have a fractured glass on top of the screen. The display itself is fine, only the glass on top is fractured.
Anyone have any idea on how to replace the glass on the desire??
replace it your self, pay htc to do it if you have insurance.
well I dont have any insurance on the phone so I will go ahead and do it myself.
I looked up at ebay but couldn't find a replacement part for the glass.
Do you know of any site where they sell the replacement.
Thanks.
Try HTC.com or HTC support or HTC products. and see if they help you on whatbyou are looking for. I dont think is eazy as you think. Or search on Google that's how I do it when I have a problem with my phone. Hope something of what I say helps if not sorry man.
HTC DESIRE #1
You should buy a Desire digitizer on ebay. I got mine from Hong Kong and it works perfectly. Replacing the screen isn't that hard.
Here is the guide that I followed. Really it is easy, it just takes time

Can you tell us how many fingers can your new digitizer register at the same time? Because the digitizer of the original desire can only register two fingers at the same time while iphone can register 5, so I want to see if these chinese replacements are actually better. To test this, search in market for "multitouch" and there are some free apps to do it. Thanks!

Hello all,
I've dropped my HTC desire and the screen is neatly cracked. However it works fine, responds to all touch and commands.
After having read the forums I understand that the screen is basically two parts and I've broken the glass bit but not the actual screen (I think).
I've never opened up a phone or done any hardware repairs and not confident about doing so.
How should I get it fixed? Go to some shop? Send it off to HTC?
I'd really appreciate your help as am a design student and can't afford a big bill. It wasn't insured but they never pay out anyway do they! I was tempted to insure it now hahaha but would prefer your help.
Generally its better to replace the digitizer and lcd screen, but if you ring htc up they should tell you the best course of action, it might be a pricey repair tho

1 of my friends has the same problem...but he changed the cracked screen with a new one(original screen was SLCD-the new screen is AMOLED!)
Can you post some pictures?
I have dropped my Wildfire on the floor and after i picked it up i had a spot on the screen(you can see it in the pics attached).I want to order the parts necesary from ebay because i saw they have good prices.
Please help me because i need to know..what part do i have to change to get that spot away from the screen?(the digitizer, the display?)
Thanks!
PS: the touchsreen works perfectly
really no one knows?
asking again..please help
I had exactly the same problem. That mark you see on the screen is due to dead pixels. I dropped mine too and I had a spot just like yours. Here is how I solved the problem.
1. Go to ebay and buy an LCD screen for wildfire. I got mine for less than $50. You just need the LCD not the touchscreen digitizer. I think you can get it cheaper.
2 Replace the LCD. I could not find a dissassembly guide for wildfire, but you can follow the Desire guide. They are pretty much the same. I am talking about the steps. Obviously, they different phones.
Since your touchscreen works, it is easier to replace the LCD.
Now my wildfire works fine with a working LCD.
Good luck

If the touchscreen is working without any problems then it is just the LCD Screen you need, It is a separate part from the touchscreen.
Where i used to work, the sales team used to rip people off by telling them that the touchscreen and LCD screen came together, but most of the time they don't and can be fitted separately, sometimes however they are together and need to be bought together. I have been inside one of my own wildfires to fit a new touchscreen it didn't go very well but it works......... minus the LED lights and i can tell you the LCD screen can be purchased and fitted separately.
Dude of course it is up to you wheyher you wait or not,
But i am telling you, i had the exactly same issue... My phone fell to the floor and i had the spot on the pictures you posted. It is because of the dead/stuck pixels on your lcd. My touchscreen worked fine too. Just replace the lcd and you are in bussiness.
And I agree with the poster above.

i saw some wildfire lcds at 15$ on eby so i think ill order one right away
thanks
dead pixels arent good but what about my dead "lines" ? it looks like the HTC is censuring everything i want to read
I unfortunately dropped my Desire this morning and managed to break the glass/digitizer.
Can anyone recommend a repairer preferably in the north East, UK.
I have seen replacement digitizers already fitted into the front housing for £19.99 on a well known auction site.
Looking at videos on how to replace the digitizer it doesn't look too difficult just looks intricate and unsure if i should have a go at replacing or just take it to a local repairer.
What's everyone's opinions?
Thanks
In the past I've found buying the digitizer and then getting a shop to fit it best for me

i did it last week, not bad for a copy digitizer.
little fiddly but if u take your time and be careful, you should be fine
there is a photo show on youtube somewhere, gives u a better breakdown.
ayu452.blogspot.com/2011/11/htc-desireg7-screen-replacement.html
found this even better than the one i saw originally...
its a video
youtube.com/watch?v=sXZqIjtFoAU&feature=related
I did exactly the same a few months ago and took the route of buying a replacement and fitting myself.
I have to be honest there were a few moments when I thought that was a mistake and I should have taken it to a shop. I found it VERY fiddly and was convinced i was going to break it, the insides are really delicate.
If you decide to do it, get as many instructions from google, youtube as you can and read/watch them all before starting. I seem to remember the ones I followed ware unclear at a certain stage. The ones from ayu452 look good tho. Have the right tools and allow plenty of time. Good Luck.
Just wondering if its worth buying this to avoid removing the digitizer from fascia?
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/220871890...X:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649#ht_1674wt_1037
Whats peoples opinions on it?
Yeah may as well. Will make it easier. I may even do that just to get rid of scratches on digitizer and fascia
Ive ordered that digitizer with fascia off above auction website link
A local phone repair guy said he would fit it for £20 just gotta decide if i should let him fit it then if he messes up its his responsibility ??
That was my reason behind doing that. Still much cheaper than if you asked HTC to do it.
Digitizer arrived next day in post.
Looks good quality with black surround rather than that bronze colour. Like it
Took it to my local phone repair guy who fitted it.
Hit power button phone booted up, one BIG problem.. the digitizer wasnt working!
He checked all connections again and concluded the digitizer was DOA.
Not good and still without my phone.
Have let the phone guy order a digitizer himself as im going to have to return faulty one for refund.
Hopefully it should be sorted today.
Good luck.
New digitizer fitted and working perfect!
Credit to Paul ThePhoneGuy repairer in Durham who sorted it for me.
Just realised I need a new speaker now. It must have damaged it when it was dropped.
Thats a minor job though. Just pleased phone is working again.
Good news!

Yeah. Just pleased to have it back working again.
Hey guys,
As you can see on the pictures, the glass of my Desire is pretty much shattered, but fortunately the screen still works, so I only need to replace the glass.
Question: Where can I get one for a relatively cheap price? Fellow Europeans, give me some suggestions.
Thanks for your help in advance.
Have you looked at ebay? A8181 is a good keyword too.
Looks like this is what you'll be needing: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/HTC-Desir...ssories_RL&hash=item4aaffb5828#ht_1706wt_1037
In fact, ebay is a good site to find it but bear in mind that you will have to disassemble the whole phone.
I had to do it for mine, and I was very happy to have the special screw drivers in the screen package that I bought.
Here is a tutorial on how to disassemble the phone:
http://www.formymobile.co.uk/desiredisassembly.php
You also can find videos on youtube...
eBay is going to be your best choice to get your new digitiser. Try to get one which includes the special adhesive and the tools required for the job. Read/watch the instructions a few times before you start the job. The hardest part is going to be getting the old digitiser off. Good luck.

Hey guys, good day.
My HTC Desire Eye screen cracked (I accidentally dropped it) and it really looks horrible. I am planning to replace the screen myself, and I am asking if anyone repaired their phone by themselves as well. I'll be buying the parts needed in eBay. I am also wondering if I can only replace the glass and not with the LCD? The LCD screen still looks impeccable despite the cracked glass and touch works perfectly. However, I am yet to find a tutorial that shows replacement of the glass module only.
Thank you very much in advance.

U can find tutorial on YouTube. And yes you have to replace entire screen not just the glass.
My advice is get it replaced from a expert. It doesn't cost much. Also buy original screen don't get a bad one.
