[Q] SD card install kernel problems - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III Android Development

Hello everoyne.
I'm having a problem with the latest zImages from the kernel thread: (links blocked cuz' I'm a newbie)
I have an AT&T Tilt and i want an SD/fat install.
I was using the harertinstall from Android on HTC: (links blocked/newbie)
Android booted and worked (not wifi, BT or camera though).
I read in the forums that the latest froyo (DZO's) releases work well with wifi and everything else if you have the latest kernell.
But if I replace the zImage with anything form the kernel thread, linux doesn't boot. The boot freezes at a line [ 1.194174] device-mapper: uevent: version 1.0.3
Can anyone help me get it working, pretty please? ;]

Found the solution, I needed to update Haret.

So, here we will get Android 2.0.1 to work on our lovely Blackstone (HTC HD).
New Build by babijoee is released with COOL fixes. Jan 8, 2010
Note: There will be no nicknames for this project as it's a generic build.

-Vibration:
-Capacitive Buttons and Navigation wheel
-Keyboard
-Radio
-Brightness Control: Must turn off autolight in WinMo

-Android information program.
-Gsensor: fixed
-Power collapse
-Proximity sensor
-ramzswap
-idle sleep mode
-deep sleep: Remove pm.sleep_mode=X from startup.txt if you have it in your default.txt .. check this, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=5304904&postcount=731 (IMPORTANT).
-Accelerometer fix: Now very accurate and shouldn't cause your device to randomly change view. Thanks to mmone3
-sms fix: yep the one you guys have all been waiting for ( thanks phhusson )
Not Working:
-Bluetooth
-GPS
-Camera
-------------------------------

3-REPLACE startup.txt with the attached one then open it and add you wifi.mac
4-Copy all the files to your SD Card. (I prefer a clean SD)
5-Run Haret.
6-Wait for a while.
7-Smile.
8-Play with it. ("it" refers to your "Androided-Device).
9--Post your feedback.

Downloads
BASE PACKAGE: http://htcandroid.xland.cz/XDANDROID.6.01.10.7z
THIS BUILD DOESN'T NOT FULLY INCORPORATE ALL LATEST COMMITS FROM GIT. I CAN'T STRESS THIS ENOUGH!!!!! THIS PACKAGE IS CUSTOM AND SHOULD NOT BE MODIFIED AT ALL IF YOU WANT IT TO WORK. DONT ADD ANYTHING BESIDES ANDROID APPS!!!! DO NOT UPDATE THE ZIMAGE OR MODULES OR YOU WILL FIND MIC DOES NOT WORK. ENJOY THE RELEASE
NEW*: System update: http://htcandroid.xland.cz/system-accelloremeter&smsfix.sqsh
SIMPLY RENAME TO system.sqsh AND OVERWRITE THE EXISTING system.sqsh AND THAT IS IT. THERE IS NO NEED TO DELETE DATA.IMG UNLESS YOU WANT TO.

Currently writing FAQ. Will include some very useful stuff for all.
My test:
Material - All from post 1 + old calibration file + zimage from 18th Dec 2009
Run haret with my wm6.5 with PHONE ON, BT OFF, Wireless OFF, Data OFF. So, gsm was actualy working when i run haret from my wm6.5
Boot was normal and android boot himself in OFFLINE mode. I didn't understand why because phone was on in wm6.5.
I tried to turn on Wlan and it tried to initialize but then it didnt.
When i tried to disable airplane mode, it crashed as expected.
BTW, why dont we try to add wifi.mac=xx:xx:xx:xx:xx to startup.txt?
Thanks!

Great to find someone to test.
I don't think adding wifi.mac will work, I will test it though.
Something with Radio itself is preventing Eclair from booting, thats why we need to run haret in airplane on mode.
Currently, testing n searching to have phone working on Eclair.
Any way to make android log/debug all the stuff so we can later see what made the crash?
Thanks
boot
I am boot haret with phone on (wifi,bt,data off) but not freez. Freez only after when iam try to disable airoplane mod. Iam cant wait for next release /SORRY FOR MY ENGLISH (CZ)/

Seems to be a software/hardware conflict or incompatibility issue.
I'm working to find a solution to fix "Radio" in the meantime.
Clues would help
I guess, since osamaa started the phone with (radio off) option, which is required by the android build. And it is stored as setting in data.img. so others, without rebuilding data.img will be able to boot without setting radio off in winmo.
do you need to laungh it trow sd cart?
isn't there a possible to laungh it form the memmory of the phone?
thx

Yeah you're right.
The reason why the radio should remain off in the meantime is that the device freezes at startup, as mentioned earlier. You can't run haret with a blank data.img now. we should first find out what exactly causes the hang.
I'm looking into rootfs.img now. you guys can help by trying different ones and giving feedback.

No, you can only launch it from the SD card using Haret to boot Android over Winmo (Which is installed in the internal memory).
so ant updated zimage to test. good luck with the project. join us on #htc-linux channel on irc. together is power and sharing is caring.

However, in my case, i started haret with phone ON and when it went to android, android himself turn to airplane mode.

UPDATE:
babijoee made it up, RADIO IS WORKING NOW.
So the problem as he described is:

The reason for freeze
Something in the Android build is telling it to use CDMA networks, so when it loads the radio and connects to the GSM network it freezes. I have used the latest diam500 zImage which is meant for CDMA and Android runs perfectly without even using my data.img. Although there is no CDMA networks where i live so i cannot connect to anything. Perhaps someone with a CDMA device can confirm this. I'm going to do some research on how to switch to GSM. If anyone already knows how to do this, be my guest and share your knowledge
nvm i fixed this and now its working

I will test it first on Blackstone then post a release for you guys to test (Or to call your friends telling them guess what I'm using Android 2.0.1 on my HD)

I'm following. However, i think it's better to talk in the other topic, unless if it's a Blackstone specific problem.
Just my opinion.
Thanks for the update!!!

What is the problem to "flash" Android on the internal ROM ?
I mean, when i press the On Button on the phone, it starts a "Bootloader".. this starts windows mobile.
Why should it not possible to tell the bootloader to start direkt Android?
Great work guys!!! it seems to be working pretty well...not yet as good as 1.6 by phh but it's on the way...and it could be even better...really better...
Android 2.0.1 is great...
keep on this way!!!

Android SD

Hello,
sadly i couldn't find a How-To.
So how to get Android on my SD Card without formatting any Part using Haret.
Please Help, and excuse me, if this topic is wrong here or I'm just unable to use the Search.
hey
i dont know how your english knowledge is but ill just write everything in english and otherwise just message me.
so you need to go to http://androidonhtc.com and then there select kaiser
and then you need to download the basefiles
that is haret
http://sourceforge.net/projects/androidhtc/files/2010-02-20/haretinstall.zip/download
and the latest kernel here:
http://vogue-android.googlecode.com/files/basefiles-20091116.zip
and then you need to find an android version with SQSH support.
the donut here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=619980
has that for example.
and then just run Haret and follow the installer.
I cannot recommend this method ebcause it is old and actually nobody is working on improving that.
I switched to NAND and its really good. You will never miss WiMo.
Or even the ext2 versions are faster and better (updated)
so just think about it if you really need WiMo anymore.

[Q] zImage 2.6.32 HaRET 0.5.2 Hang Issue - Now Solved!

EDIT: Had another search and found the answer. Sorry if I wasted anyone's time...
All,
I appreciate that I'm probably a bit of a newbie, and this question may be a little daft, but I've been running Android on my Kaiser for a while. I've recently decided that a kernel upgrade would be a wise move and I'm trying to launch Android with the most recent versions of 2.6.32 and HaRET 0.5.2.
HaRET kicks off, then the usual Linux terminal text starts, then freezes at "device-mapper: uevent: version 1.0.3". This is then the last thing that happens - the device freezes.
Any suggestions gratefully received.
Thanks!
For anyone interested, you need the HaRET from here: h**p://it029000.massey.ac.nz/vogue/files/?C=M;O=D - it's written to work with kernel 2.6.32
Thanks!
Thank you!
I had this newer HaRET already, but when I finally decided to use a 2.6.32 kernel I forgot that I probably needed this. Without your post I guess I would have given up.

[Q] CoreDroid what to flash?

hello,
I want to install CoreDroid so i took a look at the threat and i think i have to install a new radio cus it says this:
Radio_12.41.60.19_26.06.04.14_M - (HTC Ace Gingerbread S Generic 2.16.0.0)
- Also flash the following RIL package: RIL 2.16 (NOTE: already included in the ROM)
12.35d.60.140fU_26.08.03.07_M - (HTC Ace Gingerbread S Generic 2.25.0.0)
- Also flash the following RIL package: RIL_2.25
but i don't know which one of the radio's i should install i also can't download the RIL_2.25 package (it says not found)
can I just install the other radio because it says the RIL 2.16 is included in the ROM?
and do I have to install an other version of CoreDroid if I do so?
thanks in advance
Hi there,
i'm only new at this too (i rooted my phone about 1 week ago now), so dont take my advice as being spot on, but i would go with 12.41.60.19 first & see how it goes. that way your not having to worry about finding the correct RIL or anything.
You can install other radio without any problem and you must try your self wich radio is best for you, because there is no such thing as "best radio". It depend on where you live and what company provide you gsm....

Need firmware for asus padfone

Hi!
I have some problem with my padfone. Does not working wi-fi and bluеtooth modules.
For repair I need firmware for padfone. Please if anyone have ..... share.
Asus has released PadFone Kernel Code for Android 4.0.3 ICS OS (V9.18.8.2)
Can i make firmware use PadFone Kernel Code?
How can i do it?
Kernel source code allows you to compile a Kernel for the Padfone.
It is not the complete firmware you are looking for
Please tell me more about the problems you are having. I understand it is with the WiFi and BT modules, what have you tried to fix the problem?
juzz86
Thank you for your reply.
My problem was due to my wrong actions.
I've got root access to the Padfone.
I tried to install (Bluetooth SIM Access Profile) android-rsap
Then did the factory reset.
As a result of these actions, there was a change of some files that are associated with the work of the module bluetooth. Now when you try to enable Wi-fi or Bluetooth does not work.
In the directory / system / bin / some binary files (ls, ln, mkdir and etc.) Have a size of 0kb.
It seems to me that if build the kernel for padfone it should fix the problems.
I tried to restore the firmware after an android recovery e3 but recovery directory is empty.
Please help meee
ps GSM module is perfect working
I see. I'll see what I can find out regarding a firmware for you, have you received the OTA at all yet?
Also, are you able to perform a reset/reflash through the ASUS PC Suite software, something like what Samsung Kies offers?
http://www.asus.com/Mobile/PadFone/#download
Yes, I received OTA, now build number IML74K.CHT_Padfone-9.18.8.41_CHT_9.1.15-0.
Before update yet i had problem with camera (don't startup). But it problem was resolved, once i applied the latest updates OTA. But it did not resolve problem with bluetooth and wi-fi.
Out of curiosity, how big (size in MB) was the OTA?
I know little about these things, but I'm wondering if we could find the OTA file, extract the system.img, and manually flash it through cmd prompt using recovery?
124,1 MB. I think that fully update be 300-400 МБ
Hmm. That's probably not going to help us.
There is one more avenue you could try. Send a private message to XDA member 'Football'. He leaks ROMs and firmwares for devices. He may be able to help you out?
I know he does a lot of HTC devices, but he's been known to be able to source others, too
ok thank you. I will try to contact him.
No worries mate
Asus released firmware.
http://ru.asus.com/Mobile/PadFone/#download
Excellent mate, that should set you on the right track.
Good luck!
