Its never happened to me but after my sd card started filling with backups I wondered what would happen. Ive since moved most of them to my PC for safekeeping.
Does it just fail? Can you reboot? God forbid, would it brick? Just curious.
Haven't had that problem yet, but I would imagine it would just throw an error and cancel the backup process.

I actually had it happen. All it did was give me a space error and left a partial backup on my card. Wasn't even going to chance trying to restore it........

Soooo... my phone took the drop of death today and it is down for the count. Now before I file an insurance claim, I still need to recover many of the pics and files I have in there. I am rooted and have Clockwork Mod in there so I don't know if that helps. Please, PLEASE, someone help me do this
So it will not power on at all? Recovery? Anything?

Some roms save the pictures to the internal sd...

The phone still powers on and functions. Its. Just the screen that is shot and without being able to mount the drive by pressing the buttons on screen, I need an alternative solution. The default was to save it internally so I just don't know how to access it. Maybe there's a solution from Samsung directly? I don't know which is the point and I'm reaching out to y'all for help ; A
So you should be able to get into recovery then. What recovery version did you have and I could try to tell you how many clicks of what button to get it to munt the internal storage. So then it can be seen by your pc.

Hmmm... I finally feel like one of those people that ask for help but never quite know the pertinent information to get the help they need... I don't know what recovery version I have
At this point, just trying the buttons to the version you have is worth a shot Thanks in advance!
I'm sorry but in my cwm I can't mount the internal with recovery. I have the light blue cwm. I wish I had more for you.

Get an mhl adapter so you can output to TV so you can see
Or use adb to pull files

Brings up an interesting question, because I live in fear of something like this happening to me.
Is there anyway to tell the phone to access the "sdcard" that is ACTUALLY the sdcard? I have several apps that save important data, but they save it to "sdcard" and there is no way to change the path within most apps.
I hate having to make constant backups manually because at any moment all my data could be lost because this phone doesn't actually use the ACTUAL sdcard for data.
What kernel do you have? I assume you are rooted, download and install busybox via the market place on the PC, it will push to your phone. (so you are sure to have it installed).
Then download and use qtadb.

Hi,
I installed CWM on my Rogers S3 using the ODIN method that doesn't trip the counter, and everything is going great, except for my nandroid backups all having the wrong date/time (the year shows as 1970). Does anyone know of a fix for this?
Thanks!
the only fix is to flash a new cwm. Not I.would STRONGLY suggest against it. I did that and I lost my imei. So I had to get a new phone. Wait

Oh damn, that sucks. :\ Well it's not a huge issue, I can deal with it for now. Thanks for the info!
I know on my epic if I take out the battery and boot straight into cwm to do a backup it would always show the wrong date.

Currently, this is a known issue... I would also stay away from 5.8.4.9...you lose sd card function. V. 7 works ok for now other than the date issues.

I am having the same date issue as well. Also my CWM is not seeing my ext SD card. Any clue how to fix that.
Format your card as fat 32

I did that. CWM still not seeing the ext SD for backups or installing ZIP. However if you go into mounts and storage you can mount or unmount
either the sd or ext sd and you can format both. This is very odd. any idea. My phone is on AT&T, not that should matter.
I have CWM and it can see my exSD card fine... It does show the wrong date for the backup though... Question: Will the wrong time/date mess up the ability to restore? Has anyone ever tried to restore from the incorrectly-dated backup? Was it a :good: or did it result in :crying:?!

Have restored from a few nandroids without issue even though the date is wrong.
Can we just rename the folders to the correct date? Or will that screw something up?
Renaming folders is fine. Just don't rename any files inside.

I renamed the folder, and later had to restore using that folder, and it worked beautifully... that date, as it turns out, is just a label. You can change it to whatever date you want...
Rom Manager
Actually if you do a backup using Rom manager the dates come out right

You could try doing a bit of research on what apps are best for recovering data, I know there are some decent apps out there that do a good job as long as u have written over those files .
If you have troubles finding one that works i might be able to do some research for you. But i would personally try youtube to find reviews on decent recovery apps. GOODLUCK
You could try this link , i havent tested the app myself but i think if you are chasing photos it might work http://hexamob.com/rooting.html

Did you have any luck in finding a program to restore your deleted files, I am in the same boat and need to recover some accidentally deleted files.

Try this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1994705
if you deleted them then recover them straight away then you'll 100% get them back, but if you've been using your phone alot and over writing those deleted files... then your chance of getting all of them back will be slimmer.
Try to recover your files, you'll need to be in debug mode then mount as USB, that you can recover them as external disk.
Why did you necrobump this thread??

You can recover deleted files from galaxy nexus with data recovery software, see this guide that helped me before: android phone data recovery
hope this helps.
Alright so I did a Nandroid backup and it says no sd-ext found skipping or something like that. I heard it doesn't matter but it's really bothering me!!! Help!
when you was doing your nandroid back up it always says that because we dont partically use external sd to install apps so the nandroid just looks in your external for installed apps and if you dont which most of us dont have it skips the process totally normal bro
Well I accidentally deleted some stuff and now it's saying that and I'm sure it didn't before. I'd there anyway to fix it?

I recommend wiping the sd card after backing up important files. After you wipe format the sd card and you should be able to use from there. I'm pretty sure some files are just corrupted.
