backup, unroot, update, root, restore

Hi,
Is it possible to backup all apps from my phone, unroot my device, perform an OTA update to 2.10.405.2, root my device again and restore all my apps and settings?

Seems doable with Titanium Backup (others please confirm) although I personally wouldn't recommend that since I have heard complains of apps that force-close after being restored.

Can anyone else confirm or dis confirm this? I would hate it to loose my angry birds scores

Heh was my main concern (Angry birds highscores). I actually managed to get the settings out, and then put them back afterwards in recovery mode using adb. The files u want are located in the directory at: /data/data/com.rovio.angrybirds. Wiped, upgraded put Angry birds back on, shoved phone back in recovery and over wrote the new angry birds settings and highscores.lua file. (Actually the highscores.lua file is a text file with sections like:
Level27 = {
completed = true,
birds = 2,
score = 38660,
lowScore = 29190,
}
Hmm tempted to cheat, but I'm not gonna!!!
Hope that helps. But your process looks fine to doing the update, etc. I my My Backup Pro and not titanium BTW.

Angry Birds Save data to another phone

I'm planning to buy Desire HD and on my Desire I've almost got three stars on all the levels. Is it possible to transfer my save data to Desire HD somehow. Can anyone help please.

Im not sure. Have you tried contacting the developer?

someone told me about the 'Angry Birds Backup' and 'Angry Birds Seasons Backup' today for unlock, restore and backup high scores.
No idea if this would work or not - but apparently doesn't need rooting...

The way i have done this before is to use root explorer and go to /data/data/com.rovio.angrybirds/files and copy the highscores.lua to your sd card.
Then if you transfer this to your DHD and install angry birds
*YOU MUST PLAY THE GAME AT LEAST ONCE TO CREATE THE HIGHSCORES FILE*
Just play the first level.
Then use root explorer on your DHD to go to /data/data/com.rovio.angrybirds/files and delete or rename the highscores file and paste in your highscores.lua file from before.
The only problem i have found is that it may force close the 1st couple of times you play and if you have not played every level then you will need to replay the last level you have finished to unlock the next level.

comments on the angry birds season backup didnt look like it worked anyway... maybe because the users had to root or it wouldnt work - but there didnt seem to be any notes to suggest that but it makes sense.

I use MyBackup to backup all my apps + data (Plus contacts, sms, mms, etc) when reinstalling roms. Should work between phones.
It's then like I've never wiped

I've purchased angry birds backup and downloaded seasons backup cos i had to make a hard reset of the phone. One word.... it works!!! You just have to pass one level to restore the save game

It definitely works. I have 3 stars on every level, and the backup restored them all. The only thing I had to redo were the golden eggs. All of them were there, but without the stars.
When I purchased it, the developer said he would be updating it to include Angry Birds Seasons... I had to wipe my phone, and I didn't realize there was a separate app, so I lost ALL of my Seasons data. Had 3 stars on all of the Halloween levels and Xmas (through day 9).
Does anyone have a save file that has all of the Halloween levels passed w/ 3 stars?

Are you rooted or unrooted?

unrooted, but I would use the Angry Birds Seasons backup to restore the save file. It worked for the original.

That might work for the same version of angrybirds, but what about for diferent versions?
I have save files from 1.4.2 and now I want to use that saves with the new 1.5.1 version but it didn't work, downloaded from android market 3 times and it said 'install failed'. I manage to get the .apk file on sdcard and tried to install but no success, it said "there's not enough space" ??? lol
So I unistall the 1.4.2 version and install the 1.5.1 and the save game/highscore didn't work. Every time I copy/move the highscores.lua the game stops working, it closes itself after loading screen. The only solution was unistall and install again starting all levels again.
EDIT: Found the solution, I didn't check file permissions, it must be 660 but it wasn't. chmod 660 highscores.lua solved the problem.

Anyone have a save file with 3 stars for all the seasons levels in the newest version. I just lost everything right after I 3 starred the game and I really dont wanna redo it all.

can some one upload or send me the angrybirds seasons 3 star compleet file for the Htc Desire Z,

[Q] Force closes of some apps

hi, i am currently on insertCoinS v09 with CM7 hboot
i get force closes on some apps, like angry birds. now i have read that it can be fixed by moving the app to phone (since it is originally on SD) so i went to settings > applications > angrybirds and i had the option to move it to SD actually (froyo a2sd i guess), so i did it and it worked, HOWEVER every time i reboot it stops working and strangely enough when i go to settings again it shows that the app is already on sd (so it should work since that is what got it working in the first place), then i click to move it back to phone and it works. but again reboot, everything looks the same, app not working.
so in the end i have to move app from sd to phone, or from phone to SD to make it work, every reboot.
wtf? how can i make sure that an app is PERMANENTLY on nand ? please help

things got worse... i re-installed angry birds rio, since i had no save games anyway, and it worked fine after reboot, it was 'moved to sd'
so i tried to move original angry birds do sd (settings > applications) and it gave me an error - not enough space... on SD ? not possible i have lots of space there :X

ok important thing i forgot to mention - i used my backup root to restore my apps. now when i deleted angry birds (my saves -,-) and re-installed it, it went straight to sd (i have 'move to phone' option in settings) so i dunno why i could not move them before :S
still, any ideas on what is wrong with backup ? why after restore doesnt it work unless i switch it form internal to SD or from SD to interal ? and why do i have to do it every reboot :<

Saving a lengthy and arduous tale of woe and frustration, I'll start this simply by saying I recently had a lot of problems with my SD card, and as well as having to format it SEVERAL times in various ways in order to get it to work, with 2 error checks via Windows explorer (the second finally being successful at repairing the card), for some reason CM7 then also had major issues. I think this was down to the EXT partition not being able to be established on the then faulty card and conflicts with S2E. (again, I tried just about every option i found on this site and elsewhere to do this, but somehow the card switched over to write protected!)
I decided to change to a new ROM for my Desire. Im now running the latest UltimateDroid ROM 3.30, with the Dark Tremor App2SD. All is well. I can write and delete via the phone and PC.
All 3 Gameloft games of mine, Modern Combat 2, Dungeon Hunter 2 and Settlers HD have been freshly re-downloaded, installed and then each downloaded the SD files to the now working card, however for some reason the initial gameloft screen and intros are flickering and glitchy for all 3. The games themselves run great and quite smooth, its just the intros that are messed up. Is there a reason why this could be?

oh crap... for me the F#[email protected] Intro works only.. and game doesnt.. would mind share .. where you got your games?

It could be the rom, i had the same problem, but solved after switching from rom

You should change your rom, if you don't want to buy them(you should), torrentz.com those work, i tried those before buying

MOST of the games i downloaded doesnt work on gingerbread, most of them worked on froyo, Hate this, as i cant play them anymore, im on gingerbread...

[Q] sd-card apps problem

ive been flashing some cm7 nightlies today and finally got on cm7.2. everything is running well, but it just reboots every time apps are loading from sd card.. normally i can use the phone when sd card isnt inserted, i really dont want to wipe it, is there any way to find out what app(it has to be something, because apps stop loading in the menu at some time, and then phone hangs up) is force closing everything?

Hmm... One of the reasons why a custom MTD Partition is needed. Apps on SD won't function like apps on the the internal memory. I have apps on my SD and rarely see FCs. I would advice you check your card if it is error free. Your phone shouldn't hang.

My apps have always worked perfect from SD ext, its probably a corrupt file on your SD card and could be anything not just an app, hook it up to a pc and do a disk check, see if that helps.

^ what app causes all the problems? maybe you guys know which one is this, i know i can still reinstall them, but im running out of time..
