I hope starting a new thread is the way to go on this...
I just updated to the new Sprint Official WM 6.1 ROM, and immediately could not connect to the internet.
I tried running the IOTA automatic data provisioning update (Start->Settings->Personal Tab->Phone->Services Tab->Internet->Get Settings->Start) and it failed repeatedly with a 1012 error. As was posted by others, I noticed that there was a "CurrentUserName" setting in Start->Settings->System->Device Information that had [email protected] where I would have expected to see [email protected] instead. (that would have been my Sprint provided email address) The first thing I tried was to go to the phone dialpad and dial ##3282# to start the EPST program and check my data provisioning settings (this requires that you know your MSL - Master Service Lock Code - if you are going to edit). UserName was blank there, so I tapped the blank setting and held down until an "EDIT" menu popped up. I tapped "EDIT" and changed it to the previously correct [email protected] value. After saving changes and another reboot, I still could not connect to the internet, run IOTA, and the "CurrentUserName" was still wrong. After searching through various settings looking for a way to change the currentusername, I installed PHM Registry Editor and searched again.
In HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/OEM/DIM there is a key "EnableCurrentUserName" and it was set to 1. I edited that and set it to 0, exited the Registry Editor, and restarted the device by holding the power button until it warned me about shutting down. I tapped "Yes" and it shut down and restarted. The "CurrentUserName" setting no longer appeared in the Device Information page. At this point I was able to run IOTA successfully and imediately after that I could use the internet and other data services.
I hope this helps someone. Sorry to be so long winded, but I was trying to answer as many "How? Where?" questions as I could as I went.
Briefly:
1. Using WM Registry Editor software, change HKLM/Software/OEM/DIM/"EnableCurrentUserName" from 1 to 0 then save changes and exit editor.
2. Dial ##3282# and edit UserName to correct [email protected] address. Device will reboot when you exit and save changes.
3. Run IOTA by going to Start->Settings->Personal Tab->Phone->Services Tab->Internet->Get Settings->Start
Thanks to all the others here who have helped me along the way,
Scruffy
anyone else know if this works?
i just flashed the new sprint rom and now the data connection does not work.. no internet.. ? I was just wondering if anyone else had this problem and does this fix it?
After some more time with this ROM installed I have found that it is not neccessary to change the ##DATA# (##3282#) user name settings. Just change the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/OEM/DIM/EnableCurrentUserName value to zero, save changes and then you can run the IOTA update successfully (or at least I can).
I have found that I need to do this every time I do a hard reset of my device. I hope this helps someone else.

this did not work for me.. I Get error code 67
i started a new thread here........ http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=415666
so maybe someone will chime in... the ##3282# does not work for me at all.. you hit that on the dial pad and nothing happens... so i can not access that menu...
For now i went back to a OEM rom and called sprint and they got me working by doing a MASTER RESET... also ##3282# works on OEM roms but i think the file EPST.EXE is missing from the CUSTOM roms... any input would be great..
Not working for me.
i'm sure a master reset from within #778 or whatever would work but i don't feel like
putting in the data again.

I just upgraded to NFSFAN's latest ROM, everything went well but I can not get my internet to work. The one thing I did notice is under the services tab, internet is not an option. I loaded the dcd sprint carrier 20090714 cab am I missing something else?
Thank you for any help you can provide.
Update:
Well I went back and flashed to the HTC 6.1 rom, then back to the 6.5 rom. That fixed my internet issues, but that option is still missing for me. Then after all of that my MSID was really screwed up. Everything seems to be good now.
please please help me clear the instructions
i have a horribly vague idea of what i need to do, to get the internet working again.
i already got the IOTA_1120 zip file in my cell but when i even try to open it up it says that there is no application that is related to to it, so i must start this application and open up the file from within. How do i do this? am I even doing what im supposed to??
Where exactly is HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/OEM/DIM and how do i get there???
if you could please instruct me with simple stieps i would greatly appreciate it, simple being like start>program files> etc.
please help i am one step away from smashing this damm cell into the wall

The path of HKEY.... is actually on the registry. You need to use a registry editor (like PHM Regedit) to make the necessary changes to the registry. I would recommend you to re-read those instructions as they will not get any easier than that. Alternatively, if you are on Sprint's official rom and have absolutely no clue what you are doing, you can always call them and ask them for help.
As far as the IOTA zip file, if you cannot open it, that means that you do not have any program to extract from compressed files in your device. Your best bet is to transfer the file to the desktop and extract it there. Once you are done, place the extracted contents back in the device and run it in there.
Hi all.
Suddenly, the "Space Key" does not appear in Full Qwerty Keyboard.
Now ".com" & "/" appear instead of "Space Key".
(plz see the attached file)
I want to change from ".com" & "/" to "Space Key",, how ever i don't know the way.
Could u give the solution?
i had exact same problem. apparently you have to do a registry change to fix it. HKLM\Software\Tegic\eT9\Ime.change CurrentET9Style from 1 back to 0
Your variable might not be 1 but when my screen was as yours it was a 2. Laater it switched on its own to a 9 so dont lose this registry change because your probably going to have to do it again. I noticed when i added new contact or something to that effect it changed the variable
Thank you very much for your solution!
My "CurrentET9Style" is 6.
After revise from 6 to 0, Back to normal keyboard.
Thank you !!!

who's first post? I did install the tweak cab from ppcgeeks and would like to read that 1st post. If i uninstall the tweak will it fix the reacurring problem or do i have to hard reset? Thanks
when i changed to "autocomplete" I had the same problem with the space key being gone until i put the registry back the way it was...Tj
Keep CurrentET9Style = 0 ??
Changed HKLM\Software\Tegic\eT9\Ime.change CurrentET9Style from 1 back to 0
This works temporarily, but when I click on the time in a calendar entry, it switches to numbers, and does not switch back unless I re-edit the registry. Is there any way to keep the setting from changing at all? I want it to stay at CurrentET9Style = 0.
Anybody?
Hi everyone. Okay, first let me just say that the "FixStuckTP2Keyboard.cab" is fine and it does work. But it reverts your keyboard back to the "eT9" and you probably did a registry hack to change it from that in the first place (changed it to "COMP") am I right? Not to knock that cab, like I said it works just fine but I did NOT want to "install" a cab file everytime this happened (after it would change it back to "eT9" I would have to go back into the registry and change it to "COMP" again.)
Let me tell you HOW this is happening in the first place, it has something to do with Opera. You can test this very easily. First get your keyboard working properly, then open Opera. Type something in the address bar or just tap the address bar and BAM! Your keyboard is stuck in that mode. Now I don't know why this happens, that mode is getting stuck in memory for some strange reason and it will NOT let go.
I'm assuming this is ONLY happening to those of us who have used the registry (or a program or cab) to change the keyboard to "COMP" instead of "eT9" since changing it back to "eT9" solves the problem.
There are three solutions:
1.) ONLY use the slide-out keyboard when using Opera.
2.) Use the FixStuckTP2Keyboard.cab
3.) Use the MortScripts I created.
Use "KB-OFF (eT9).mscr" to force the "eT9" info into the registry. Then use "KB-ON (COMP).mscr" to enter the "COMP" info back into the registry, then do a soft reset.
You can rename these files if you like.
Yeah I know it sucks to have to do a reset just to get the use of your spacebar back just because you used the virtual keyboard when using Opera but hey, what are you gonna do?
UPDATE: Just noticed that "sometimes" my scripts don't work if you click on them one after another (again for some strange reason). If this happens to you just click on "KB-OFF" soft reboot then click on KB-ON" & reboot. Weird I know.
I had the speed fix instaled but i did a factory reset to to clear up space and just instaled the thing I really use and now i cant unlock the HSUPA feature in advance network any sugestions
hmmm...well id say uninstall the cab. soft reset to make sure its cleared out. then if i remember correct, install the data fix cab again. dont restart right then when it asks. cancel it. then go to start menu. settings. advanced connections. then make sure to select the one that says HSPDA/HSUPA enabled. meaning both are enabled. after u do that, then soft reset it. once your phone boots back up, you should see the big H symbol next to your 3g one or whatever one you have. It worked like a charm for me. no problems. the H stays enabled on mines. Just make sure to do it exactly like that or its not probaly registering right or something or saving the changes. hope this helps you. let us know. i have the data fix, sd card tune up, no push internet, and dynamic proxy cabs installed. along with all bloatware deleted from phone. So my phone is wayyyyyy faster and smoother than b4. also added a ton more free ram available on startup, idle, and normal/heavy use. i also got drivers but going off subject..lol good luck
What is the latest version i've dowloaded jh2001's tilt2 data speed fix 1.0
when I open to install it says it is unsuccesfull
hmm..i just checked..i have the same version as you, the 1.0. you just have to make sure to install it in those steps i listed in previous post. Unless u have some custom rom or something and its not registering right. ok quick version. make sure its uninstalled. we starting over..lol Then install it directly to your device memory if the option comes up to do so. Then itll probaly say that u need to soft reset for changes to take effect. press cancel. you dont want to soft reset yet. then go to start menu, then settings, then advanced. You should see that it changed up from b4. You need to select the one that has both hspda/hsupa. make sure its selected. then go back out to main or home screen and soft reset. once your phone boots back up, you should see the H SYMBOl up top of your phone. you can also go to to your settings again . and go to advanced and make sure that it says hspda/hsupa. dont change anything else in there unless you know what you doing. might change something up. it should work wit no probs though. let me know if that still didnt work. theres nothing wrong with the cab. or just download it again, meaning a new one, and do those steps listed. enjoy your weekend.
Well Ive tried uninstalling previous installation but it doesn't show on the programs list and Ive followed the instructions given above but I still getting error installing the ceab I had it installed before and it worked!!
How do I erase the phone to factory settings other than cleaning storage?

Clearing Storage will reset your phone to the factory (default) settings of your current ROM. Is an error message appearing when you try to install or is nothing happening?
I did went and clean the storage but When I try to install the cab it instantly says
"Installation of jh2001 tilt2 data speed kix 1.0 cab was`unsuccessful"
i really don't understand as i mentioned before it was working fine two week ago
Well just did a hard reset an erase the storage but still can't reinstall the speed fix!
Is there any other way or another cab to install?
Anybody reporting the same problem?
ok, you don't need the speed fix for HSPDA/HSUPA support. Download and install Julian Schapps advanced configuration program, you will also need to download and install .net ver 3.5 (get it from microsoft). Install and soft reset. Start adv config, scroll down to data connections and enable HSUPA support, soft reset. Then open settings, advanced network settings and then scroll to enable hspda/hsupa and you are all set. you will be getting around 2.2-2.8 MB/sec download speeds. This works well and you will see the H on your top line of the home screen. You do not need the speed fix, you can install it, but after these first two steps.

quiquerc, you can do what ms0529 just suggested, it should get you the HSUPA options and the related speed improvement by following those steps. However, each time you clear your memory like that (aka "hard reset"), you also wipe out some critical elements that have to be added to any new fresh ROM, like .net 3.5...so, you'll have to reinstall that anytime you wipe the phone, before many programs (like this cab) will install or work properly.
So, install .net 3.5 again real quick (see below), and you should be able to install and use the cab after that...however I DO highly recommend the advanced config app anyway, so you should try that out even if you don't use it to help you out with this (in fact, I've even attached the cab here for you as well )
Ive install net 3.5 directly from microsoft and the advance configuration tool
and was able to enable hspda But when I go to the advance network connection it doesn't gives me the option to enable it like the speed fix did.
I'm going to redo all the instructions above maybe I'm missing something.
Ive instaled the config tool and its worling fine now.
Im instaling android let's see what happens!!
hsdpa
I need the help. But there is no such option under "advanced network" on the htc tilt 2(Enable/Disabled hsdpa option). What programs recomended for me
Hi!
I have the new android 2.3 running fine on a tilt however the WiFi and bluetooth will not turn on and gives an error. From what I have read I do not see the typical network update.tar for 2.3. Any suggestions on how I should proceed would be greatly appreciated! Iv experimented with different software flashing various ROMs ROM suggestions would also be graciously received.
CHEERS!
Rom Ver 3.57.502.2 WWE
Radio ver 1.70.olinex
Protocol ver 25.65.30.04h
change RADIO or
androidupdate.tgz version.
thank you for the suggestion, I did try different radio ROMS and dloaded the latest update and applied. when in the android interface, setting wireless gives an error when I select it to turn it on. Does anyone have this working on an HTC kaiser? any assistance would be greatly appreciated!
Did you try Kernel version .32? Its never supposed to give Error on turn on with .32
it locks up on boot with latest zimage
last line at boot: device-mapper: uevent: version 1.0.3
generated with atools:

Progress! wifi does come on with kernel 2.6.25, I get an IP but cannot browse. I can ping the phone. Once the screen saver comes on I cannot get back in. A white screen when I try to wake it up. Still open to suggestions

So any thoughts on the WiFi and not able to surf?
What radio should I use if I want to keep the duel boot option and get wifi to work on kernel 32? if that is my problem...
please help
I updated to radio 1.70.19.09 still freezing on kernel .32 on device-mapper: uevent: version 1.0.3
AND
Still wifi seems to be active but browser does not work. I can ping the phone!
I have same problem, wifi seems to be active but browser and app does not work.
Probably the problem is the dns setting or the routing table.
I suggest both to open terminal (or adb) on the phone and ping the google ip.
If it works the problem is the dns settings.
I tried this..
http://209.191.122.70/
(yahoo.com)
times out on the tilt, loads fine on laptop...
I boot froyo and wifi works!
Where can i find a 2.3 android? and kernel compatible?
I have the solution to the problem of you with wifi:
Step 1: Download Andboot folder (3mb) http://www.4shared.com/zip/p28ZDul3/Andboot.html
Step 2: download Gingerbread (CyanogenMod - ANDROID 2.3)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=948134
The wifi will not work after this rom, but there's a solution:
download the update wifi
http://www.4shared.com/file/45NA6EXA/androidupdate.html
and Update.
Now you have the android 2.3 (CyanogenMod) installed and the bluetooth and wifi working!
Take this opportunity to ask for help with the camera because I could not make it work.
I hope it helps.
What's that haret...exe in the andboot folder for. What's the difference to the haret.exe you get after unrar the ziped file?
Hi all, I'm trying to set my browser to always view desktop sites but I couldn't get it to work
/system/csc/others.xml i added this line <CscFeature_Web_SetUserAgent></CscFeature_Web_SetUserAgent>
Set rw r r permissions rebooted but
it still didn't work.
So i added these 2 lines instead
<CscFeature_Web_EnableDesktopSiteAsDefault>true</CscFeature_Web_EnableDesktopSiteAsDefault>
<CscFeature_Web_AddOptionToTerminate>true</CscFeature_Web_AddOptionToTerminate>
Set rw r r permissions rebooted still didn't work.
I should mention that I'm on the myrom revolution ROM which is based on international note 2, if it matters.
I think this method worked for the international note 2 users.
Any help would be appreciated.
Have you tried to type about:debug and enter in your address bar yet? Then exit out and restart your browser...as long as you have desktop view enabled or android view as your user agent, then you should be good to go...That's what I usually do, have never had to edit xml lines, though I haven't used the stock browser in a over a year now, so maybe it has changed since then?
