Hi,
I'm thinking to order a full cover skin case like this one:
http://cgi.ebay.com/CP-FULL-BODY-SC...ameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem#ebayphotohosting
The only thing about it is that the screen could become not so sensible as usual...What do you think?

Just got one today, Overall very impressed. Great quality sound through bluetooth, and connects to multiple things at the same time so can listen to music through my laptop, and take calls on ym headset.
best news is, they've just come down in price in most stores.

I actually had shieldzone make a custom invisibleshield for my touch. It arrives on monday, so I can't comment on it till then, but they do have it on their site now for anyone to buy.

Did you custom order a full shield or just a screen shield? I was thinking of the second option, if what they say on their specifications (99% clarity, extra durable, designed for US helicopter blades blah blah) is true.
Please keep us posted
Will it come off, once applied?

I just received my touch today, and the skin is amazing. I ordered a full body shield, but they actually build the full body and the screen as separate pieces, so you can buy either. At first I didn't even recognize the skin, it adds a sort of rubbery feel, and it is kind of shiny, but not much. I actually keep my touch in my keys pocket, and it doesn't show any wear at all, but it's been only a day now.

You can actually remove it, I don't know exactly how. Since they don't use actual glues to stick it, it doesn't leave any residue.

Did anyone tried that? Is this the same product as Shieldzone selling?

If this works well and it's removeable sure better then any pouches man!

guys I've ordered a cheap silicon case on ebay. Got here today in good quality, but it has this rubber odor. learned my lesson im not buying these cheap silicons next time..
Invisible Protector
Anyone tried any of the products?
How is it?
I would be interested in anyone's experience with this too. I've used similar product from BestSkinsEver but only for screens on my non-touchscreen devices. Great protection and durability. I'm worried about how this will be on the rubberized surface of the Touch and if would pull off if you want to remove.
best skins ever
I've got a best skins ever for my iPod, and I love it. I believe it's the same material as invisible shields, but much cheaper.
I'm not buying it for my touch - yet - as it would spoil the matt finish if I covered it, and the supplied screen save is good for now.
this $6.99 skin would give you plenty of material to completely cover your phone, or screen protectors for several phones (I think....I'm not much good with imperial measurements]

I am on day 2 with the full body shield. I got it from the above website. They didn't send an email and the website didn't give me a tracking number. The website showed my delivery on hold until the 28th of October and never updated. I was almost to the point of calling to cancel when it just suddenly arrived. I guess I am just used to all the warm fuzzies I get from other suppliers, but it has left a bad feeling about their customer service.
The package was complete with spray, squeegee and protector.
It was a pain to get on perfectly, but with enough of the spray it is possible. The front comes in eight pieces. 2 for the top near the speaker, 2 for the buttons, 2 long skinny ones for the sides one for the navigation button and one for the screen.
The screen protector was actually pretty easy. Just make sure you get the curved end down. It didn't completely cover everything. There is a gap about the size of a fingernail on each side in the silver area. Of course I started on one of the sides, so I have a double fingernail gap on my right side.
I put the buttons on next. I lined up the cutouts and they went on ok. There is a little gestimation room so be sure to get a gap around the call and end buttons. There is a small square for the center button. It is a pain to center and mine looks off a little and it looked like I was about to pull my button out of the case when I tried to remove the shield to recenter it. I would probably skip this one.
The two long skinny ones were a pain. I would suggest tweasers so you can see where to place them.
The two top pieces were pretty easy, just make sure you don't overlap the two side pieces.
The back was 3 pieces, 1 big one the covers most of the back. 1 ring for the camera and 1 dot for the mirror.
When I put the large piece on the back I had to reposition it several times. When I was done I had a couple of small bubbles. The website said the bubbles should go away after a couple of days, so I just left them to see. If not I will pull it off and try again.
The ring was a pain. My fingers kept getting in the way. This is another piece for the tweasers.
The mirror piece as great. It is clear. After having my mirror on my 8125 get scratched from laying on it's back I know this is a weak area.
Note: I put this on late at night and lack of sleep probably contributed to any mistakes. I had watched the video so I used the spray and this helped. After 2 days it is looking better. I still have a couple of bubbles they are smaller and the tiny ones are gone. I will wait a few more days to see. The 2 top corners on the back seem to have a problem sticking. This was probably a placement issue, but unless it spreads I will wait for the bubbles before any realignment.
As far as use, there is a rubber feel now. The stylus drags and my finger drags but I can't seem to scratch this stuff. I feel pretty comfortable using my fingernail to tap now. I am pretty hard on electronics so I think I can live with it. I read on other sites that this goes away as the protector cures. I will let you know.
I hate to make a judgment after two days, but I would have to give this one a thumbs up.
I've also ordered a full shield from shielzone.com, haven't gotten it yet. I suspect they don't provide a tracking number since they ship free and use the cheapest USPS service available, which wouldn't have any tracking (e.g. express would have, and on regular postage only if you pay for registered would have tracking). I exchanged a few emails with them before I ordered and they were very helpful.
Now that I'm waiting to buy the HTC Polaris, it feels like I'm just wasting money, but it would be good training for the next invisible shield. that is, if I'm satisfied with it
Btw, I've tried the silicon cases as well, got one from Boxwave. While quality is reasonable, I can't understand how people can use that. It looks ugly, I just couldn't stand it (I've paid to have a sleek looking ppc phone). It also made it bulkier and hindered scrolling on the sides. That was a big waste of money on my side, but I've learned my lesson ... never silicon cases again.
Hi,
Is the Capacitative screen of this phone is scratch resistant like iPhone? I was able to use my iPhone for 2years without getting a scratch on screen. I am awaiting my phone in mail, was thinking of buying accesories...
Thank you
I won't be getting a protector for mine. As long as you are careful, you'll be fine.
Even people with ocd make mistakes. Get the case from att and a screen protector. Protect your investment. Trust me.

Very true. And that whole scratch protector is kinda a lie. You can see pics/vids where the iPhone screen is pretty scratched.
No offense to anyone posting on this topic but I do not understand the purchase of accessories from AT&T or any other provider store. Items for these phones can be purchased significantly cheaper from online.
I bought a box of cut-to-size screen protectors for $5 from amazon and it has lasted our family through several phones and replacements. Touch screen function is not hindered and clarity is perfectly fine.
Though I use screen protectors, I do not believe in phone cases. I feel a phone is built to fit the users hand and cases add unwanted bulk that I don't like. Accidents do happen but in most situations you will cause no more than cosmetic damage. Use some sense when handling your phone and it should last until your next.
I remember recently having a "discussion" with my wife as to why she paid more to get a white iphone and then put a case on it. This baffled me to the point of agitation and I had to drop the conversation.
If really concerned, just get insurance through your provider or home insurance company. At least until the phone price drops after the next big release.
Thanks
Thanks for the replies, will be getting a case any way, still thinking of screen protector...

QFT on all that. I bought like 6 from Ebay China for like $1 and they work better than Apple's $10 ones.

That's a calculated risk.
Is spending $5/mo with a $50 deductible worth it versus spending $30 for a case???
You obviously have not used any good cases. Not all cases are like Otterbox and add half a pound to the weight and an inch to the thickness... SwitchEasy was my favorite when I had my iPhone. Waiting for something similar on the Captivate now.
I'm debating this as well.
I got the body glove case from att and a pack of screen protectors. The att rep put it on for me bubble free. I keep the case on when i am out and take it off at my desk at work. The phone is beautiful. The screen protector is more finger friendly and shows no smudges.
Definitely get a screen protector. Accidents happen, no matter how careful you are. And I would suggest a body glove of some type, again, accidents happen.
What brand of screen protector do you guys recommend?

aaaaaaaaahhhhhaha white iphone with a case. i lol'd. women eh?
with ur statement on bulk, get one with a minimalistic design. a case not only protect ur phone but look sexy too. if you scratch a case you can replace it hangin on to that sex appeal. scratch a phone and ur sol. Also good condition is important for resale
oh but if ur really against cases just get one like leather case that you only keep it in while ur not using it
Case:
I understand both sides. I guess "accidentally" putting my phones through more punishment than I thought they would endure has given me excess confidence in their physical design. I am a fan of the "phone pocket" now in most jeans and cargo pants. It is comfortable and easy to grab (also stays low to the ground). I would like to take some advice and get a nice case but I guess my wife's iPhone cases have already left me disapproving and I hate to add bulk, but maybe I'll try again. I'll admit the Captivate is a bit "smooth."
Screen Protector:
There is not to much to argue about here. I wouldn't worry about brand.
1. Does it stick to the screen?
2. Is it clear?
3. Does it fit?
If you answer YES to all three of these then it is a good screen protector.
If you answer NO to any one of these questions, KEEP SHOPPING.
I'll take a look later to see what brand the box is I have at home so I can post it.
Slim but durable cases are possible. Just very few companies put forth the effort to engineer one.
Switch Easy, they only make for iProducts but when I had my 3GS it was great. A thin rubber around the outside (protect it from shocks and also keeps the case itself from scratching it), then you snap a horizontal then a vertical case that form into one hard case... It was very thin (nothing like the bulk of an Otterbox), yet I think you could have thrown it across the room and the phone been fine.
I recommend the invisibleShield by Zagg. Had one on my iphone and totaled out a work van by flipping it with the phone sitting on the dash. Was one single mark on the iphone screen and it came off when I put a new Shield on it. I was impressed. It feels a bit rubbery for a screen protector at first but never noticed any impedance with touch sensitivity. Costs a bit more then normal protectors as well but again well worth it if you ask me.
Just got home and looked at the protectors I have. The brand is WRITERIGHT (universal screen protectors)
A set of 10 was dirt cheap ($3) and I have been using them for about 2 years. They are cut-to-fit and will cover the entire face of the captivate.

hello all. first post on here. just got my captivate last saturday and still waiting for martin fields to make a screen protector for this phone. they are a lil pricey, but totally worth it.
Well when I picked up my Captivate, I picked up the Body Glove Silicone Case from ATT because I prefer to keep any new devices in a silicone/gel style case for some protection. My sister and mom picked up the Captivate after they played with mine on Sunday *7-19-2010* and called me last night to set up my mom's phone and install a screen protector *3x for $ 9.99 at the corporate att store in my area*, for installing the sp and transfering the contacts *manually* and setting up gmail, I got a SP for free for my captivate for 15 minuets worth of work. Not too bad and I am a little more less worried then the last 2 days..

Wow, 16 replies and not one answer to the original question about the Glass.
Many devices like Microsoft Zunes have a special hardened Glass, you can use keys, knives, razor blades etc to it and not scratch them. If a screen protector makes you warm and fuzzy go for it, but if this device (I don't yet know what Glass it has) has "that" Glass then its a waste of money. It's going to take a hell of a hit to break it, and a sceen protector wont prevent that.
You can read about such glass here:
http://www.anythingbutipod.com/archives/2009/04/glass-screen-durability-test-a-lesson-on-the-mohs-hardness-scale.php
I ran a screen protector on my HTC Hermes for years, and hated it. Finally removed it last year and love it. And no scratches. (Case has flip cover for when its in your pocket) A lot more depends on how you treat it. I have 4 sons, 2 of them seem to destroy electronics, 2 of them don't.

Please let me know. My daughter scratched up my phone.
Some screen protector companies claim if you put on their product it will cover up minor scratches.
I bought screen guard from xoskins.com and it seemed to cover up the few minor scratches I had. Or, at least, I don't notice them anymore.

Yeah, I believe that. Most of these screen protectors look so crappy after u put them on the regular screen scratched up looks better. If any of you guys know of any good ways to actually fix the scratch and not just cover it up please advise. Thanks for your help.
hm you must not be very good at installing screen protectors OR you are buying super cheap ones. Most of the quality ones if installed correctly look almost invisible after the first day or so (some almost immediately) and will cover minor scratches making them almost to compellingly invisible.
The only other things i can think of is if you have the time and patience i have heard of people who have had success using very very fine jewelers sand paper and polish. a friend of mine also used the pens you can get for paint scratches on your car and has had success on other devices. never used either myself
I recommend "luxmo" branded screen protectors. Can't tell my evo is sporting one but I'm fully protected. Covered minor scratches and prevents future ones.

Ghost armor is the best.. i swear...
idk where they sell but I had mine done at the Dadeland Mall (Miami FL).40$ full wrap... this stuff is good... i once sat on my TP2 with a lighter under it... for at least 30 mins till i noticed... The screen had the FULL lighter imprinted (like bump-mapped)... 10mins later cleared right out...
i didnt like the rubbery feel around the whole phone... but the side strips really do protect it from scuffs and stuff... the screen i ended removing and getting money back... only have it on my batt cover now... looks way stylish and the screen itself is scratch-proof (i did the razor blade test as a skeptic).
the only thing i saw scratches the screen is scissors (if you try to), and rubbing it on rough concrete (literally rubbing it)... an old Nova screen which I got insurance replaced gave me these results...so thats how i know

omg, I lol'd right in my cubicle imagining saying "kk thx buh bye" to a bestbuy employee, get that one on video!
Yep... Ghost Armor is the ONLY thing I use. Better than invisishield. Lifetime warranty. I had to get a new one once and it was free... well... i did have to cover shipping of like a buck. Watch the video several times over and read read read before doing it.
It WILL hide those scratches.
BTW... could you ask your daughter how she scratched it? I saw a video of a guy when the EVOs first came out. He tried pretty hard to scratch it without a guard and he couldn't. So I am really curious.
I did go back to Best Buy today and I got much better Mobile guy this time. He told me that a lot of the InvisiShields were damaged...he had to go through like 6 of them till he found one without a blemish. He actually did a really good job installing it...doesn't justify paying $30 for a piece of plastic but at least he did a good job. I just hope it stays on.
As for how my daughter scratched it...I saw her with my cell phone face down on my glass coffee table. Maybe there was something abrasive between the screen and the coffee table. I'm really careful with my phone for the most part so I'm pretty certain that is when it happened.
I asked in another thread about invisibleSHEILD but Im seeing after different opinions, that there are various others offering the same protection at different prices.
Im going to be using a HTC Desire Z. Its "environment" will most likely be sliding in and out of my pocket and inside of my hoodies' pockets so yes, there will be lint around it. I dont want to use a case as it looks horrible and adds too much thickness to be in my pocket in a comfortable way. The "orange peel effect" is something I believe Im not going to mind. Im going for full body protection so keep that in mind as Ive read some full body protections cover more or less...
Ive pretty much slimmed it down to 5 but I might have missed some so vote Other, say which, and Ill add it to the poll
So which do you think is the best protection for me?
Also, thanks to everyone who is helping out. I truely appreciate it
Can't change the poll? Wanted to add Skinomi.
I am wondering the same thing. I have a Vibrant and want to figure out what a good protective sheild would be. This case is nice but I'd love to carry it without one and not have to worry too much.

Went ahead with the invisibleSHIELD. There was a 50% discount and you just have to take advantage on that
Thanks to all once more for the advice
Now finally, onto the HTC Desire Z (Ill come back problably asking for help on ROM flashing too )
Just recieved and installed the invisibleSHIELD. ZAGG just recieved this email from me:
Totally unacceptable: Last time I’m buying from ZAGG
My purchase for a invisibleSHIELD from you has been horrible since the beginning. First time around, the order button was broken on your webpage and I have to contact you to fix it. I ordered my invisibleSHIELD on 5/5/2011 and it shipped the next day. I sent you guys a email about my order and I’m STILL waiting for a reply. It arrived 5/18/2011; I’ve been shipped things quicker from the United States and Asia but fine. I receive the package (from Germany, why???) and first thing is that the box is semi crushed and not what I would expect from a company. Next thing, the solution bottle you guys send is unscrewed and naturally the solution spilled. I was stuck without a solution and I had to make do (because I’m not reordering paying a dime for you and waiting another 13 days) with soap and water. Next I find that some of the parts are actually already unstuck to the paper so I had to even put MORE effort in installing. I installed the shield today (again after the experience not worth it even if it protects from everything as there are companies that do the same thing).
Basically, no customer care, horrible package protection, and a product that simply is not worth it. Thankfully, I got a discount you were offering and paid half because this product is worth just that and even less.
I’m not recommending this to anyone; I prefer they try other products such as Best Skins Only which actually gives a decent price for the products.
Yea i also want to know which best screen protector i have to use ?
invisibleshield hands down.
From now on, BestSkinsEver; period. They are the only protectors I will use. Cheap, fast shipping, and great protection.
Zaggs are the best u ever feel on those?
Sent from my Arc using XDA premium App
I got an invisibleshield installed in a local store so luckily, I did not have any problem with it. I just did not experience installing it first hand which looks kind of exciting though the pressure.
I have some problems with it though. The small parts that cover the round edges seem to be peeling away and accumulating some dust or cotton, as I reckon from my pocket which annoys me. They said that I could get a new one but I have to ship the whole thing, so does that men I am going to be left with no protector until it gets shipped to my address? Not really an option if you ask me.

Agree, I've bought a a screen protector once which was full of scratches within a month or so.
I use a screen protector from xoskins on a lot of my stuff. They are uv coated so they don't turn yellow, resist finger prints, and do not feel like a rubbery orange peel.
Sorry you've had such a bad experience with Zagg. I've never had an issue with them myself. The screen protectors have worked very well for me and I've put them on something like eight devices. I'd still recommend them to anyone.
Best buy screen protectors
I hate paying the price at Best Buy, but their sales rep(s) are really good at applying the protector.

I would stay away from invisibleSHIELD unless you have the patience to install it or pay someone else to install it. My bro used it on his Evo 4G and for the price it was not all that good. I have been using ReaLook for my Epic 4G and it is very good and offers great protection
I use invisibleSHIELD protects good and installation was simple.Like other poster said it's peeling on corners and edges but I change my case a lot so that contributes.
So I got my TPU fusion case from ambitronic.com today and let me say, the case is beautiful. Consider the amazing price and it's an unbeatable deal. With a 10% coupon code I found and adding a screen protector it was just under $7.00 shipped. I ordered it in the evening hours, it shipped the next day, and arrived 3 days later from California to Missouri, not bad at all. Unfortunately the screen protector I ordered didn't include the soft card and one of the stickers on the screen protector got stuck to it and left behind residue. Without the soft card I was unable to install it correctly and ended up tossing it in the trash, but at .95 cents I can't really complain, but wish I could have used it.
i have one too & it's a good case for the price...lame that it doesn't come with the card, good to know. for 95 cents, you really can't complain. you can always use a credit card or driver's license... (i'm in NY & they're pretty flexible...), for future reference.
Ordering one online now, hope that it's as good as everyone says it is!
I tried a debit card but it didn't really make a difference with the adhesive stuck on it, cause by the time I got that off, it was pretty much useless. The site says it comes with a soft card, so I assume most of them do, I just didn't have one in my package. Still loving the case tho. To hit the power button takes a little getting use to as you have to press it a little harder than normal with the case on, but it doesn't bug me that much after a couple days use.

give the case some time to wear in, about a week or so. the buttons will get softer to press over time. Ive had my case for about 6 months now and its perfect
Good to know about the buttons getting softer. Just got an email from Ambitronic this morning, I sent a link to this thread to them, they apologized for taking a few days to get back to me, blaming the rush of Touchpad accessories, which I completely understand, and offered to either refund the .95 or send me another screen protector, so the only down side I had they are taking care of. Excellent customer service. Highly recommend anyone to order from them, I know I will in the future.

Yes, their customer service is pretty stellar. I've never had a problem with them before.
I just ordered tons of stuff from them. Great prices great stock. Live the fusion cases,
Just a funny factor. The fusion case does not really work work the chargers they sell.. Had to trim the case for the chargers to fit lmao.. That's the only negative thing I've found so far...

This case is hands down the best bang for your buck case I have ever bought for any of my phones. I got it for about $5 on eBay, and its quality and performance is on par with $30 cases I've bought in the past. As for screen protectors, I've always bought from an eBay seller, XtremeGUARD. If anyone's interested, here's a link:

Best screen protector I've ever used. Easy to put on, crystal clear, and extremely durable. It uses a soap and water mix as an adhesive, so it's nearly impossible to put it on incorrectly.
this case is pretty awesome gotta say. when i saw it i was like "man i want this case" xD, looked so good. But yeah the only charger that really fits in is the one i got when i first had the phone, can't use any others really because they'll fit just enough to plug in but its' easy to dislodge the charger from the plug, but oh well not that big a deal to me
that screen protecter i might look into cuz i kinda messed up with the one i have now, it's placed on correctly now, but i didn't get it that great the first time so it's kinda dusty but you barely notice it unless the screen's off.

It's practically impossible to mess up the XtremeGuard protector. Since you cover the protector in the soap/water mix, it slides around on the surface of the screen, making it easy to align perfectly or redo if some dust gets on the screen. Once you're satisfied, just let it sit a little before you squeegee out the water bubbles, then let it sit and dry into place.

They made everything right with me, ordered a couple other things too for my touchpad and everything I've gotten from them is awesome quality for the price
