[Q] Default Ring Tone Non-Persistent - Droid Incredible Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey all- Somewhere along the journey of flashing Virtuous and trying a few kernels I developed the glitch of my default ring tone not sticking.
Is anyone else having this problem? Any suggestions?

+1 - I have the noticed the same thing, although mine usually stick after the first fix permissions and reboot.

I tried the "fix permissions" in ROM Manager. No help.

weird default ringtone that i cant change on cm7

hey i recently upgraded to cm7 and ever since then, i have this weird default ringtone thats a mashup of a few mp3's i have (always the same mashup btw).
anyway, when i try to change the ringtone, i can select something else and it is selected but when people call me its still the weird mashup.
i tried searching for anyone else who had this problem and i couldnt find anything. anyone have any ideas?
just go to ur music and select the ringtone frm there or put ur ringtones in ringtones folder in media
doesnt work. again, i can set the ringtone and in settings it will show the correct ringtone selected but when i get a call it will still be the weird ringtone.
Did you do a full wipe of your Data/System/Dalvik Cache etc before installing CM7?
yup .
Doesn't help with a real solution I'm afraid, but I've got the same problem. Overriding it in "profiles" seems to work though
haha thanks that worked!
stupid bug though

Sorry that iam slow in the brain...but what do you mean by Overriding it in "profiles"!?
Regards
I have the same problems on a brand new with stock rom Android 2.3.3.
Override it in profies? What does that mean?
Go to profiles and set the ringtone from there.
Simple.

I had the same issue and had to do the same fix. Setting it in profiles did work. Weird.

[Fixed] No sound on CM7.1 RC

Hello there,
I've just installed RC1 on another Wildfire than mine (I've already installed it on mine) and I can't make that phone ringing when calling it. I checked all profiles (it's set on default and I enabled everything in that default profile ; I deleted other 'pre-installed' profiles such as "work", etc.), all sound settings but I don't see what I missed there
I can't even play songs with the default "Music" apps!
Any idea please?
Try restarting your phone.
I restarted it. Sound is now working but... if I wanna choose any of the default ringtones, it's always the same sound. I also retried the "Music" app, and I only have some beeps going on and off, the songs don't play.
Do you think a reinstallation of the ROM will solve it for good?
Yes, try reinstalling after a full wipe. I distinctly remember someone else having similar issues, but I am unable to locate that post anymore. It's buried somewhere within the hundreds of pages of the CM thread :/
All right, I reinstalled the ROM and it's all working again! Thank you both for your help!
It works
Just rebooting worked for me. :]
Not to resurrect a dead thread, but I am having this issue intermittently. Once every few days the sound will just stop. No music, no ringers… A reboot fixes it for a while though.
This is 7.1 stable on a Dinc.

[Q] juggernaut 5.0 question

I was using juggernaut 5.0 and was having a problem with the ringer. It would show a call coming in but no audio ring tone. i checked all setting to make sure it was turned up all the way. i wiped did a fresh install and still nothing. It worked the first few days and again no ringtone. I love the rom fast, stable, and tons of themes. But the ringer just randomly not working is ruining it for me. I tried rebooting calling and again the called shows on the screen but no ring tone. Is this a known problem or does anyone have any tips as to what is causing this or how to fix it? Any help would appreciated.

I would also try to reassign your tone. Just pick the same tone again and save it.
as crazy as this sounds you choosing the same ring tone over worked. its crazy i tried multiple ringtones. but never the same one twice. guess it just needed to be stuck twice for it to stick lol.

Black Notes ROM disappearing audio (no audio)

Hello everybody,
i'm using the "Black Notes" ROM, version "Last Page" (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1483072) and everything is working well. It's a customized Gingerbread stock, with some improvement, a great battery life and good stability.
I just have a little problem: sometimes the sound goes away and come back only if i reboot.
Everyting is mute: ringtone, notifications, media and wake up alarm.
Sometimes the sound comes back even without rebooting.
Anyone has something to suggest to fix this? I don't want to change ROM only for this minor issue...
Nobody has an idea?
I've discovered that, while the notification/ringtone sound is disappeared, the media sound works, because i can hear a YouTube video.
I've also discovered that is not needed to reboot the phone; if i swith from "normal mode" to "silent mode" and back, the notification sound comes back.
The notification sound is and internal sound from the ROM (not an MP3)
BUMP!
Noone else experienced this?
this ROM is dead which mean the dev is gone. no more supported for everybODY

Anyway, i'm gonna change ROM because i have to solve this issue.
Thank you.
