Hello guys my problem is this:
I booted my windows 6.5 to android 2.2 froyo CMDA. everything was working when i saw that i cannot connect to wifi. My friend also installed same android and his wifi was working but mine isnt.. When i open wifi settings i turn on my wifi, it says scanning... but after 5 sec it automatically stops scanning and turns itself off. Then some message appears on screen : The application settings(process com.android.settings) has stopped unexpectedly.
I already have a modem at home and I used to connect on it with my WM wi-fi. I tried rebooting etc.. Nothing happens.
Its not cause of my modem because i already tried to connect to another existing wifi connections.
If you have already faced this problem and solved it or have any good suggestions, please reply.
1) WEP encryption does NOT work
2) If you updated, you MUST update both the zImage AND the modules files.
3) Some TP2's just don't work on wifi. You may be one of the unlucky ones.

Thanks.. I hope this is not my rhodium unluck's fault.
What do you mean by updating both the zImage and the module files? How can I possibly do that?

I meant it is not my rhodium's fault for causing my wi-fi to brick. I don't need any update. As i said my friend has got the same files as I have he is running froyo perfectly with working wi-fi.

not trying to insult your intellince but 1) make sure your wifi on your pc is working, 2) go to your settings and ensure that your wifi is enabled.

Just rooted my 2.2 OTA today, guess i m pretty much a n00b for new ROMs and etc. Anyway, I flashed the current CM6.0(including, kernal + google addons). After boot successfully, i found there is one issue with my evo, i cannot connect to my home wireless network(no password issue). Status(showing in the menu option) repeats "scanning ---> connecting ---> authorizing --> disconnecting", and in WiFi network option, it says "disabled, secured with WPA/WPA2 PSK".
Anyone can help me out? Thank you...
Based on what you said, it is a password/authorization issue. Triple-check your password, and if you still can't figure it out, hop on #CyanogenMod on Freenode, or open a ticket in the Issue Tracker.
If you can't Google/Search enough to figure out what the Issue Tracker or Freenode are, then I'm sorry, but Android is not the OS for you.

I am having a similar issue (CM 6.0 final). In my case I get "scanning ---> connecting ---> disconnected".
I was working properly with 2.1 and 2.2 (HTC). I reseted the router and also tried open network. The rest of my wireless devices can connect to the router; only my EVO cannot.

Hi,
I've recently overclocked my HTC Desire HD using clockworkmod with this link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=835616
After that, my WiFi suddenly stopped working. It could connect, scan; everything, except for browsing and going on the market, things that need an internet connection. (Yes, I did use other things like my iPad and it did work)
Then I tried to overclock through fastboot and adb with the same link. What happened then was that my WiFi died completely; it wouldn't even turn on. Only thing it did was saying "Error" (Actually it was "Fout" in Dutch, but would probably be "Error" if it was English).
Then I did what this topic said:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=993981
I flashed the new file and my overclock did change; the max is now ~1.2 ghz.
But my WiFi still doesn't work. It turned back to how it was in the first stage; It can be turned on and off, scan; do everything that it normally would, only apps that need an internet connection won't work.
Anyone can help me?
Edit: I already tried a hard reset, and it doesn't work. My WiFi and overclock state doesn't change after a hard reset.
Edit 2: I FIXED MY PHONE!! Finally. So no need for you guys to help me anymore . And please don't say I didn't try hard enough, because I've spent at least 10 hours in this problem. (Yes, I am a noob )

I just started from scrap following new instructions from a new kernel. If you want to know which one:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=835608
So I didn't actually solve the whole problem since I wasn't able to run the 1.61ghz oc, but that's ok for me. Hope this helps.

I have been having this exact same problem since upgrading to Android Revolution HD (Gingerbread versions).
At the moment, the only fix I can find is to enter:
ip rule del from all lookup wifi

In a terminal window everytime I connect to a new WiFi network.
If anyone can find a permanent solution to this issue it would be greatly appreciated.

That's weird. I'm running Android Revolution HD since yesterday and I didn't have any WiFi problems. If I were you, I would try to reflash. Also, have you tried to flash the recommended radio in the thread? I think that one of these 2 things should work.

I've tried numerous full wipes, different radios (including the recommended one) and still cannot get it to work without entering that terminal command.
I believe there are a few people with the same problem, yet it only seems to affect UK mobiles :/ ....

What about a new kernel? Maybe try flashing this kernel http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=835608. It worked for me..
Hi all,
I know there are loads of wifi post on here and I have searched and tried all updates and whatnot.
Initially when I dual booted my kaiser to android it kept coming up with an error on the wifi and just wouldn't start. I have put the update on that is meant to fix it and it now starts the wifi, but it just wont search for my wifi!?
If I enter it manually it just comes up with "Not in range"
Has anyone else had this issue?
Thanks,
Doomie

Thanks for that, just grabbed it, installed it and now it just sits scanning and still will not find any wi-fi.
change your kernel or radio version witch android version you use???
I have tried quite a few. The one I have just tried is "Scoot CyanogenMod 6.1.2 RLS6". All of them are doing exactly the same, its just making no sense.
Almost sounds like a bad radio install. I have had "0" problems with wifi using radio 1.70.19.09 OR 1.70.09.01.
Your results may vary as I've seen people using the 1.65 radio roms with no issues as well.
With dual-boot, I'm not too sure that WinMo isn't trying to control your wifi independently of Android. I have no experience in any dual-boot situations as I could never get Haret to work correctly, if at all.
I think I remember someone mentioning that you have to make sure the wifi is either on or off in WinMo before starting Haret. If someone has clarification on this, I'm sure the poster would appreciate feedback.
It started today. Everytime I try to connect to my WiFi connection, it goes in a loop of connecting and disconnecting and finally it says "Avoided poor internet connection". After I click connect, the signal drops from maximum to 1 bar. I'm on Arconium ICS, but I've been using CM9 before and I had the same problem (that's why I switched to Arconium). This issue seems to be present in all the ICS ROMs. Any idea to fix it?

There is another solution made by Mike Duskis at android.stackexchange.com/questions/22848/what-does-avoided-poor-internet-connection-mean (xda forums won't let me post the whole link). The solution involves deleting the files inside folder /data/misc/dhcp
Assign Fixed IP address
Hey i had the same problem on both Stock Rom and CM9...i did delete the files in the DHCP folder...but the problem kept showing up every few days....but i solved it completely by assigning a fixed IP address to the network...on both the router and phone
so this is it
Your device manufacturer/model : mito a300
Your mobile operator : XL,simPATI (dual gsm)
A dump of system log messages. what message?
Your ROM information : sorry i dont know, but i use stock rom
What you've done and what's not working : turn of wifi and turn it on,do same with the router, wipe data (phone) , reflashing, and use your apps :crying:

Turn off WiFi setting
What has worked on several of my android devices and my Win 8 computer is:
go to "Settings" and turn off the wifi. Wait 30 seconds.
Turn it back on and most devices will quickly connect.
A simple fix for the devices in my house. Good luck!
