I have used opendesire 4.0.36 for some time, but I use setcpu time to adjust to 1152mhz,paragraph will not automatically restart the problem appears,I hope someone can give me a solution,Thanks!

whats the problem, it's not keeping the overclock? Or you wanna go higher than 1.15GHz?
it's con not maintain the 1.15ghz it?I want to adjust it to the maximum to go to 1.15ghz,if I do not setcpu,is not only up to go to 998mhz?

Hiya,
I have been looking the forum, using the search etc, but I can't seem to get a definite answer. Here's my question: Is it possible to overclock a HTC Desire Z without rooting the phone? Because I'd like to keep my warranty on it but do want to see if 200MHz extra helps.
Thanks
I think you can temp root your phone and then oc. If anything goes wrong, just reboot.

Get visionary r14 and temp-root, works nicely, used that before perm-rooting

Yeah there is no way to do it without at least temp root.

Root=access to kernel, and clock frequencies are in the kernel. If you want OC, use visionary as someone already mentioned. Rooting isn't that hard to do and is easy to undo, so consider it.

There was that one right when the G2 came out that was a script and allowed you to oc up to 1.42.
Or did that one require temp root? I know you had to rerun it every time you rebooted. I'd say just root anyway - you can always go back for warranty purposes.
I am going away this weekend but I won't be able to charge my phone. What are your tips to help make the battery last (I'm on cm7 if it helps)
Sent from my HTC Wildfire using XDA App
Underclock it.
Disable wifi/3g/bluetooth
Lower screen brightness.
Disable tactile feedback/vibrations.
and disable animations and delete widgets you will not use. But indeed, I could get 4+ days out of my wildfire (stock rom) by just not using internet
Any cm7 specific tweeks and what should I underclock to
Sent from my HTC Wildfire using XDA App
Dunno if this'll help but disable JIT
And try thus UC:
Max 480
Min 245
Govenor: Powersave
Btw how do you reset battery stats

Is there a way to undervolt to save battery?
Undervolt can be done by simply reducing your cpu state, and current allocated for each hardware. Use setcpu or such and flash undervolt script in the Dev section (usually in kernel thread). You could tweak it yourself if you want to (don't ask me about it, I'm no dev).

Oh alright thanks! =)

you can try lormodue kernel and his uv script, it is amazing. but only for aosp rom.
I have rcmix3d 4.0 and rcmix3d and dirty v11.1 kernel and i have st cpu to 380-1.8 but once a day my phone goes in a bootloop. Usually when i am using the phone. This problem didnt occur when i had ARHD but i like rcmix i tried to change the kernel no diffrence i changed the OC no diffrence i dont lnow what it is when it goes in a bootloop i will take the battery out and it will be working fine, but it always once a day goes in a bootloop.

Try dropping the max CPU speed.

I have its 1.8 ghz but yeh il decrease just to double check
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
I dropped it to 1.8<1.6 but its still goes in a bootloop it did it once today and once yesterday. I cant figure out the problem. It will go on bootloop even when the power is on economy also known as power efficiency.

I found out what is wrong it does it when it gets really warm this would happen after excessive use. Help plz?

Your overclocking is heating up the CPU and the phone. You should try even lower frequencies. High temperatures are bad for your battery.
I recommend you to not clock more than 1.38 GHz.
I wonder wat causes all the random reboot,is it got to do with undervolt, overvolt,CPU speed and minfree value?

..overvolt?
Anyway undervolting and CPU speed can definitely cause reboots. Some phones can't go beyond 1.2GHz and I know undervolting can cause instability when brought down too low.
Personally I haven't had a random reboot in as long as I can remember, but I also don't undervolt and I don't OC past 1.2GHz.
Well,I'm using sense rom in the moment, enabled swap and supercharge.. and oc it at 468-1458mhz.. =\ still reboot, does vm heapsize affect rebooting?

My phone's upper limit is also at 1.4GHz, runs stable on it, but haven't really felt the need for that. One thing that comes to mind is that your lower limit is pretty high. What governor do you use? Do you have a profile for screen off and what's the frequency fork there?
I would assume that with that setup the phone gets pretty heated, which could very easily cause random reboots. Any idea what temperature it usually runs on?

468-1457mhz smartass screen in,122-468mhz screen off conservative.. =\

Maybe you should try lowering the upper limit to 1.2GHz for a while see if it makes any change... in the meantime it might be helpful to know:
a) Which specific rom are you using?
b) Any custom kernel?

I found out when I use this android revolution 6.3.3 rom,and flash a music player mod by lyapota,it mix up the word, like holding home it appear recent app,but after flashing I get your personal information and if I use home long press to multitask, the whole phone will just reboot :/
