Cm 6 on inc with slcd - Droid Incredible Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I can flash any Rom but cm 6... I've tried diff recoveries etc... I tried the new clockwork fix koush released and nothing has worked... someone heeeelp!
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App

It just stays on the white HTC screen after install
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App

Same thing happened to me with Skyraider 3.3 because I tried to flash a different kernel at the same time. So flash a stock kernel or one of koush's custom ones. Then reflash CM6.
Also you should've wiped data & cache before you flashed any new ROM.

I always wipe etc when flaming a Rom... do you have the slcd?
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App

i tried that...and same result...im thinking its a framework issue..but i dont know exactly..really frustrating tho!..someone help lol

Some people were running into this issue with ShadowROM and I think the conclusion they came to was that they had different drivers.

is there any way to fix that?

i know i cant be the only person with an SLCD screen running into this issue

If it is indeed a driver issue, you could always build the rom yourself and pull the drivers directly from your phone. That is of course assuming that HTC didn't rename the drivers

That is beyond me to do... lol

CM6 is not built for use with the SLCD version of the Incredible; refer to the full update guide for the Inc in their wiki.

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=808972
The maker of shadowrom has the SLCD INc now, i'm sure if he gets a fix. He'll share the info with CM sourse

Having the same problem. I'm thinking of attempting to flash the N1 CM6 then flash the IncDoes N1 port update over it. Should fix the problem being that the N1 runs and slcd display and has no issues. I'll post back and let you know the outcome. Before i go through all that though, does anybody know if they added support for the slcd in any of the nightlys?

Its actually a kernel issue...flash the rom then flash an aosp kernel and it will work...where is that n1 port?

I have tried king klick and koush kernels after installing shadow rom and com....dosnt work...shadowrom says its slcd driver issue....have you gotten it to work personally?

I ask in the ShadowROM IRC channel last night and they told me the same thing: SLCD driver issue. Since one of their devs now has an SLC Dinc they are working on fixing the problem...hopefully soon.

Yeah CM6 doesn't play too nice with the SLCD.
I have the SLCD and I am running Virtuous 3.1 with custom kernel and the IncRevo theme.
Couldn't be happier!

Is the procedure: flash rom, gapps, kernel then reboot? Can you share link to the kernel? It is not in the Incredible section at Cyanogen webpage.

I tried a KK kernel supplied by the guys at ShadowROM but that didn't work, so curious to try with the Koush kernel mentioned above.

[Q] Compiling kernel for Desire Z ROMs (w/ Sense)

Herro all!
If my research serves me right, HTC has yet to release the source code for the kernel used in the Desire Z. I've tried compiling a kernel from Cyanogen's repo https://github.com/CyanogenMod/htc-kernel-vision but it doesn't boot. I pulled the config from the stock ROM and disabled some (supposedly) unnecessary drivers so that it would compile.
Does anyone have working kernel sources for Sense ROMs? I hope to make this thread a unified effort to fix the available sources.
That's odd. It should work on both. My kernel boots fine on the stock sense rom. And if you look at developer.htc.com the only kernel source released is the desire Z, the G2 has the source of all system files
Sent from my T-Mobile G2 using XDA App
You're probably running into the same issue I did when i started building Vision kernels. The base offset is different for these boot images, it needs to be 0x04000000.

Can someone who knows? Post a TUT to build the vision kernel? That's the only thing i am missing on my mac
Thanks if anyone does it.

I second this request.. I was able to compile for my G1 and ever since I got my G2 I have been unable to get it to work... It has to be something that I am doing wrong but I can't figure it out.
a TUT and thread for support would be great!

[Q] How can I downgrade from a CM7 nightly build?

Hello everyone.
Well, I love Cyanogenmod, and a few weeks ago, I bought ROM Manager Premium, and decided to try out the nightly builds. I'm already up to Nightly 105 I think. They're not as unstable as I thought they would be.
I searched the CM7 Nightly thread for HTC Vision, and I found out a lot of people are having issues downgrading, mostly when they try to flash a ROM that's on 2.2 like Virtuous. Most of them are saying that the recovery says "Installation Aborted (bad)" or something?
Well, how can I downgrade from 2.3.4 without incurring any of these issues?
I'm just asking this in case I need to downgrade for whatever reason.
Changing to a froyo Rom from a gingerbread Rom is no longer an issue as long as you are using the latest recovery.

Really?
Then why is it that some people are reporting issues about these things?
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA Premium App
To be honest I can't see why you would want to go back to 2.2 anyway. We have loads of good gingerbread roms, virtuous included. If you haven't all ready try virtuous unity, It's very stable for a first release.

From what I remember reading in the changelog of RM, that problem was fixed; remember though, it is recommended to do a full wipe when jumping between versions like that.

you can't mirror just yet. there is no support yet for gingerbread. you have to flash a froyo sense rom with a custom froyo kernel or a gingerbread aosp rom with a custom aosp gingerbread kernel. those will have support for it. so like cm7 will work with the tiamat kernel.
edit: what others are saying is that this a theme and mod forum. questions like these need to be in the q and a section

ROM choice? (I like Sense)

I'm new to the Inc2 dev scene but am very familir with ROM's in general. I just unlocked my Inc2 using HTC's method posted today.
I like Sense but want OC and general ROM optimizations. Any Recommendations? I downloaded the Sabotage ROM and hopefully that's what I'm after until CM9 is in at least beta.

Well, sabotage is based on the stock ROM. If you're looking for higher sense versions, my personal recommendation is mikrunny.

Carbonite fusion deux is a themed version of the stock 2.3.4/2.1 Rom. It's one of my favs. It's smooth!
MikRunny 1.01 is a killer sense 3.5 Rom. The tweaks are awesome! It's probably my favorite sense roms. A lot of people hold this Rom in high regards. The Mik team puts out good stuff.

OC yes... UV I'm not sure. I OC to 1100 on mine and let er buck. The battery life is much better than stock, so I didn't mess with it to much.

You're not s-off, that's your problems, that's whhy the mik Rom didn't work cause from what I gather u have to be s off to run anything other than stock kernels... Search the development section for the hboot downgrade tool then use revolutionary and u should be good to go man

i just installed MikRunny 1.0.1 and i am very, very happy with it. it's actually my first flash. i was content with my stock ROM, but was looking for that something extra. MikRunny is very fast and smooth, and i have zero issues or bugs thus far. it has my recommendation, as it it still feels stock, but that something extra is apparent, just what i was looking for. five thumbs up!

He wouldn't be able to have perm root without having s-off. And if he didn't have perm root then he couldn't flash a rom like sabotage. That wasn't his problem.
Depending on which EXT version the rom is running he'll need the superwipe zip that newt made. It makes sure that the correct partitions are wiped. Clockwork only wipes the default partitions.
EDIT: if he's still S-On he's always going to have problems in which case Jeremy is right. but it's more than just the kernel

Wrong. You can unlock without being s-off. S-off means security off. That means its not secured against bad radio flashes or something other than stock kernels. HTC unlocked but it still has security.

ics kernels for sense (fix miui v4 video playing) **update

fix miui v4 video problems
here are ics kernels included in viper rom (chinese ota kernel) and tazz's rom (leak kernel) to be used in other sense ics roms.
I actually made these to work with miui v4 as those have garbled video.
Any other rom which needs kernel updated can use this without any problems.
All credits should go to nitsuj17, tazzpirate and microdroid. All I did was extract kernel and hardware drivers from their roms and make a kernel update pakage.
flashing these kernels will fix garbled video problem in miui. both f these have working wifi and data. tested. these will not wipe data but make a backup just in case.
there's no point of flashing these kernels for a viper user. but tazz user may flash viper kernel to fix occasional wifi drop issue
flash only one.!! either tazz's one or viper one
thanks. :good:
