Any features unique to the device?
Posted with my stock T-Mobile 2.2.1 myTouch with 3.5mm jack
I'm gonna port as soon as I get home and see if the lcd density changer will make it be 240
Sent from my HTC Espresso, that is apperantly a failing device using the XDA App
Reallllyyyyy hoping it has the same bluetooth drivers so we can get a fully functional 2.2 ROM!!!

I haven't seen any evidence in my testing that BT doesn't work on CM6.

Ive seen almost 100% of MTS users including myself with unfunctional bluetooth on CM6 and all other 2.2 ROMS for the MTS. Also Arayray I'm getting 403 forbidden error on your link.
The HD isn't using the same res as the Slide, it has a higher one just like every other High-end phone.
Here's a link http://bak.hot1.115cdn.com/pickdown...p&key1=4cbcc98c&key2=3230382e35342e33382e3739

Not to sound like a pessimist, but this won't work because the myTouch HD is ARMv7 and our device is ARMv6. They are not compatible devices at all.

thanks for the upload!
also we could use parts of it
what the heck, 312MB? that's ummm... big
its a dump of the whole system
My Findings...
* build.prop suggests that this is an MSM7x30 cpu, not an MSM8255 as has been widely reported. Thus, it does not appear to be dual-core
* Runs Froyo FRF91 with Sense UI
* The device is indeed the HTC Glacier (numerous locations throughout the filesystem) - no mention of Emerald found
* Kineto kernel module, libraries, etc all present.

I dunno, http://androidcommunity.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/mytouchHD_Spec.png shows it is an MSM8255. Maybe the driver for the MSM7x30 works for the MSM8255? I've seen stranger.
It should be noted that the MSM8255 isn't even dual-core! According to Qualcomm's site, the first dual-core chipset is the MSM8x60 (http://www.qualcomm.com/products_services/chipsets/snapdragon.html#specs).

Yes, I realize that many sites are reporting an msm8255. That's why I mentioned it.
Evidence of 7x30:
$ grep -R -i msm7x30 .
./build.prop:ro.board.platform=msm7x30
Binary file ./framework/framework.odex matches
Binary file ./lib/hw/gralloc.msm7x30.so matches
Binary file ./lib/hw/lights.msm7x30.so matches
Binary file ./lib/libaudio.so matches
Binary file ./lib/libcamera.so matches
Binary file ./lib/libopencorehw.so matches
Evidence of msm8xxx:
$ grep -R -i msm8 .
Binary file ./app/Monopoly_Classic.apk matches
Now, unless Monopoly Classic has some wicked platform-specific optimizations (that HTC has been too lazy to build) - this looks like an msm7k device to me.

Hi All
Does HTC put Friendstream inside HTC Hero 2.1 rom?
French langage is present inside multi-language? For example in home menu, "Téléphone" instead of "Phone"
Many Thanks
Gibou
ok.... so which one do I use? yours Paul, or roufianos (which certainly sounds interesting), or 42's eclair-update-signed?
and this is likely a really naive question LoL, but I'm guessing these won't overclock?
And if they won't overclock, will it be possible for you amazing people to supply a kernel that CAN overclock any time soon using the actual hero 2.1 official kernel source? or is that going to be unavailable source code for the forseeable future (based on past experience with google/htc)?
One of my current issues with VR6.2.1 is that the camera only works at iso100, making it almost useless for taking pics of kids/dogs/anyone who isn't posing still. I'm hoping that this official rom fixes that. But I'm thinking that maybe using an alternative kernel that can overclock which isn't actually based on the official hero kernel source code but is in fact taken from the Eris (like VR6) might break the camera iso functionality again.
So much boring long crap I'm writing eh? LoL
oh, and most importantly, thanks for being super amazing!
cheers,
Dkelley
No voice search or voice input. Is it possible to add or get this?

Hi ! Thank you for this release ! Flashing right now. I'll use it until the WWE or European version come out.
I still find that the new "shiny" look of the Sense UI is not as good as the previous one
Is there any body using oc kernel? If yes which kernel you using with this rom?

This is a project trying to get CyanogenMod 9 working on the HTC Wildfire S.
If you are a developer and you're working on a device with msm7x27 hardware, contact me, we have a dev only IRC channel to work together.
People who helped during development, with their input, knowledge and patches:
alquez (CM7 port and kernel fixes)
Droste (Input, help and patches)
PabloPL (Thanks for the input)
WinSuk We worked together on fixes for Marvel and Liberty
There will be an official marvel (unofficial CM9) release next week (week 18). I need to prepare for that.
TODO:
* Get camera fully working.
The HTC Aria (Liberty) uses the my kernel tree now. Thanks WinSuk for the trust
NOTE: Don't send me private messages asking for a HOWTO. Everything is documented in the CyanogenMod Wiki. You can't help if you're not able to set it up on your own.

Hello,
the last days I've chatted with alquez. He told me how to build cm7 and we discussed how to proceed with a kernel for marvel, marvelc and marvelct. We decided to work together on a new kernel. During this week I've started to look how cm9 is built and started to work on it. 10 min ago my first cm9 finally build trough.
I've submitted all my patches upstream or to my git repo. I still wonder how to fix webrtc so that it works for all people out there. It tells you it doesn't support several assembler functions but they are available on arm6. So you need to trick it to think your building for armv7.
I still don't have a kernel for it with atmel fix. That's the next step, then rebuilt it and give it a try. I will let you know as soon as I could boot it.
If you're a developer working on a QCOM device let me know. We need an upstream fix for webrtc and a kernel with patches which are accepted upstream (=cyanogenmod).
I'm tired and have to sleep now...

Awesome
Some posts above I wrote that the problem is SurfaceFlinger not starting. The reason is it can't open KGSL device. The only thing you can do is to tell me what's the problem. I have to dig into the code check check what it doing on the device and then try to figure out what's missing from the kernel side.
If you know don't know how Linux on the system level works, understand C/C++ and know how to debug these things there is nothing you can do.
If you know these things I can send you the rom or the instructions how to build it.
Sorry if I'm rude.
We needed gralloc.msm7x27 and copybit.msm7x27. Now it looks like mass storage support isn't working and kills us.

People have always asked me (and I've always asked people) what does * mean. * being the thing you are asking. Most of the time you will probably guess or ask. If you ask you could be making your self easily a noob.
I have made this in order to help. If you see a mistake or incorrect definition please tell me so I can correct it.
* - anything and everything possible. A good example would be "All my friends live at 10* Croxley Street." This is saying that they are all live at 100, 101, 102, 103, 104, 105, 106, 107, 108 and 109.
Dev - See developer.
Developer - A man or woman who has created (developed) software.
ROM - 1. A modified version of the Android operating system operating system. 2. Read Only Memory, a place where information is stored and can not be destroyed, modified or written to.
AOSP - "Android open source project" a project by Google Inc. to give android to developers and manufactures for free (see open-source)
Open-source - (not to be confussed with free) A peice of software that is free to edit, use, distribute and share with no charge.
CM - See cyanogenmod
Cyanogenmod - A free open-source project based on the AOSP. It is a modded (see modded) version of the Android firmware
Firmware - see ROM (1)
Stock - An unchanged version of something. Example: I just flashed stock sense
OTA - "Over the air" a term used to indicate software that was sent to phones directly through the internet to their phones.
FOTA - "Firmware over the air" this normally refers to ROM's but can refer to radio firmware (see OTA)
Firmware - a piece of software to make hardware function correctly. This can refer to Radio Firmware, but is normally used as another name for ROM (1)
Radio - (not to be confused with Radio Firmware) A piece of hardware that allows communication. There are 3 main radios in your phone. Bluetooth, WiFi and GSM/CDMA.
Radio Firmware - (see firmware) a type of software that allows correct communication with the radio and the operating system. A newer firmware would normally improve battery life and call quality. The radio firmware only applies to the CDMA/GSM radio.
CDMA/GSM - A type of network communication between phones and carriers. GSM phones normally are included with SIM Cards that authorize them onto the network. CDMA have this authorization built in and do not need a sim card.
Kernel - An important part of all operating systems that handles the CPU and other vital components. A modded kernel may be used for overclocking.
Overclock - (not to be confused with underclock) to exced the default maximum CPU speed. This could make a phone more powerful but may cause damage. Although no damaged has been reported so far it could still drain battery life.
Underclock - to change your phones maximum frequency to LOWER than the default to attempt to extend the phones lifespan and battery.
Mod - A modification to a part of the phones software. It is also POSSIBLE to mod the phones hardware but is not recommended.
Modding - To perform a mod
Modded - to have included mods
Modification - see mod
Governor - a system embedded into the kernel to automatically change the current working CPU frequency depending on the workload. It would only go up to what it is overclocked (or underclocked) to, this is called the maximum frequency. It would not drop bellow the (just as eaisly configurable) minimum frequency.
Library's/Libs - a set of instructions for applications to use to function. A functioning camera lib would allow the camera to be used.
WFS - "Wildfire S" an armv6 device made by HTC in 2011.
Logcat - A logging system built into the ADB
ADB - "Android Debug Bridge" a system that can be accessed using a computer where you can manage the device from. You need the Android SDK to use it.
SDK - "Software Development Kit" a set of tools used for software development.
WIP - "Work In Progress"
JDK - "Java Development Kit" an SDK for the java platform. It is needed to run the Android SDK.
JRE - "Java Runtime Environment" a collection of binarys and files to allow java software to execute.
Execute - To "run" or "start" a binary
Binarys - (sometimes called bin's) a group of executable files.
RAM - Could be one of three meanings: 1. Memory for the CPU to process processes. 2. Random Access Memory, a place where information can be used, executed from, modified, or deleted. 3. A type of sheep.
SD - Short term for MicroSD
Marvel - A gsm version of the phone
Marvelc - The cdma version of the phone
Marvelct - A rare Easten CDMA version of the phone.

Gingerbread - Android 2.3
Froyo - Android 2.2
Honeycomb - Android 3.x. it was never released or ported to the wildfire s because it was built for tablets.

Deodexed - Where ODEX files are moved into the actual applications
APK - "Android Package" an Android application
Cache - A temporary collection of files that are created to speed up an app. A cache/cached file can be cleared without any loss of important data.

Hi,
I'm looking for a kernel (uImage) with usbhost + multitouch + norefresh for my NST firmware 1.2.1.
Thanks
me too actually. Altough i would not have to be a uImage. Zip files would also be awesome
Have you tried this one?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1906507
I know there is a version with no-refresh and USB Host, not sure about multi-touch,
I'm also looking for one. Have USB host with keyboard working but would like kernel for 1.2.1 with drivers for audio, multitouch, etc

posts on that thread said that only version 166 works on 1.2.1
but only last version (174) of this kernel has usbhost support.
Maybe I misunderstood
jeff_kz has kernel config code here:

Thanks for the information about the kernel but I don't have the skill to compile a kernel.
And I don't know which options to turn on in kernel-config to have usbhost, multitouch and no refresh at the same time.
The following two sources for uImage contain the identifier: Linux-2.6.29-omap1.
http://nst-recovery.googlecode.com/files/uImage_usb_audio_test.zip
http://nst-recovery.googlecode.com/files/uImage_mt_usbhost_115.zip
That is the same identifier as the uImage I am using with 1.2.1. Whether either of the above will work with 1.2.1 I do not know & I am hoping someone with experience will say. Also, I am not sure if changes to any other file will be needed to get either running. The first file is said to have been deprecated, though why I know not.
I also do not know what drivers each contains besides those indicated in the name.

I actualy use http://nst-recovery.googlecode.com/files/uImage_mt_usbhost_115.zip on my nook 1.2.1. Usbhost and multitouch works but I can't enable norefresh on this kernel.
I've tried both uImages above & both work on my 1.2.1 but no-refresh unsolved here, too.
Hi guys,
Some progress are made.
Finished building kernel :victory:
Tryed on Sense 4 (by @coolos ) BOOTS
Tryed on ported Sense 5 BOOTLOOP :crying:
Thanks to @coloured_chalk for his kernel source and begin and important dev for this project :highfive:
Thanks to @coolos for teach me porting Sense 5 and some more useful things :good:
Best Regards,
Marco Marinho
Please mention others devs. I don't know very much the HTC Desire Z community
I'll try this like... next year or something. heheheh
(can we get an MIUI port instead? much needed by now.)
---------- Post added at 12:03 AM ---------- Previous post was at 12:00 AM ----------
Also, does this work on an rom with sense 4.1? because I'm currently running a sense rom...
@_MarcoMarinho_ good idea, although I think it would be a hard undertaking:
* Other members and I have tried porting JellyBean ROMs but we don't yet know of a way to get the hardware keyboard fully working (lights, auto rotate, etc.);
* That ROM you linked still appears to be in alpha state, perhaps it's best to wait until everything is functioning on that first or look for Sense 5 on another similar device (although the Desire HD has the advantage of being the same resolution which makes everything much easier);
* All of the Desire Z developers working on JellyBean pretty much abandoned 4.1.2 in order to start work on 4.2.2 so unless Sense 5 can be ported to 4.2.2 this could cause problems because I know that many improvements were made, for example in cn.fyodor's AOSP JB, between these two versions;
* The Desire Z has limited RAM and Sense is very heavy, although HTC may have remedied this in Sense 5 so it may run fine;
* I wouldn't even know where to begin on the kernel, all I know is that Sense kernels can't run AOSP ROMs and AOSP kernels can't run Sense ROMs. I have no idea why though. I would have thought all it takes is some small modification of the Andromadus 3.x kernel.
On a positive note, this would be awesome and I'd much rather use Sense 5 than previous Sense versions, namely because I can't live without gapless playback which ICS lacks. I would like to help but I currently lack a booting computer although I hope this is remedied soon!

Yes, but we can build the kernel with ION support. Then we only need to take the files from HTC Desire HD e replace some to make it work on our device. The only thing we need to create/build is the kernel, so won't be difficult right?
BTW, @HTCDreamOn , I saw that you took the kernel for saga and make it work on vision, so you can do the same right? They had the kernel source in the thread :good:
Regards,
Marco Marinho
As mentioned, I think sense 5 is too heavy for our device. The desire HD has an additional 256 MB of ram over our device. A fully functional CM11 is probably the best we can ask for our device.

Sense 5 is not so heavy, and I am pretty sure it will work great on DZ. Only problem is kernel and drivers (biggest problem).

The only thing that is impossible is the impossibility As @coolos said the only problem is the kernel and drivers :highfive:

Ok first of all most people are having difficulties booting Dr.Globs Sense5 atm,
so I suggest either trying Unimaginable (IncS section) or Imaginable (DHD section), both confirmed booting fine, or of you want Sense4+, link to AceTify is in my sig. Obviously you need ION kernel to boot any of these. Of course that's for testing/debuging only, you need a permission if you choose to release re-ported ROM

I'm not saying to port from snese 5 Dr.Globs, I only quoted a thread that he opened, I only quoted to show that the differences BTW Desire Z and Desire HD aren't much. We only need to change a little things to make it work on our device.
The first step is porting the kernel with ION support. I'm currently working on it :highfive:
I will facing unkown problems. I already tryed to change the source code, update the toolchain and is the same
-SmOgER, can you help me with this. Look at the attachments please

Ask @coloured_chalk or @tweakos,
I'am not very big expert on kernels.

you use wrong make syntax the proper should look something like
Code:
make ARCH=arm CROSS_COMPILE=$CROSS_COMPILE -j`grep 'processor' /proc/cpuinfo | wc -l`
You set CROSS_COMPILE var with the path to yours toolchain but didnt use it later. Another missed part is ARCH . Also -j with CPU thread num will decrease compilation time
Look at http://oldwiki.cyanogenmod.org/wiki/Building_Kernel_from_source for more info
ps ION support is kind of easy if the kernel sources are with proper drivers for it. When I have time to work over my kernel I should update the drivers to be able to add ION support.
Cheers

Try different toolchain. If you use linaro 4.8 try older version 4.7 or 4.6
Good news guys,
Kernel - BOOTS :victory:
And I get it the drivers :good:
So the next step it's port it. I will check if the ion support it's enabled
Check op for more information.
Happy new year to everyone
Ok, first try porting sense 5.
At the begin graphics glitches and then black screen, reboots and do the same :crying:
Gona try with a different kernel :highfive:
Feedback soon.
FAILED!
Trying to do a clean kernel now. I will build ASAP. Keep your Eyes Open
As I don't know anything about that kind of stuff, all I can do is wish you good luck and thank you for keeping our dear old device alive
All the best for 2014 man !
