I have today installed Froyo on my Galaxy S. All works great but I had an app that I loved got creating widgets in the form of icons.
This then meant using this app or in conjunction with Launcher Pro Plus I could make bigger icons for some apps.
I cannot remember the name of it though.
You selected it from the Widgets menu after a home screen press and hold then it let you choose the app and the custom icon, then the size you wanted.
Any help much appreciated.
It was a free app.

Hi,
Please take a look this idea:

We need developers to make that.
You don't use AppsOrganizer?
It's awesome and does more.

Yes, I saw this "Apps Organizer", but it is more like a shortcut to some programs, like "Folder".
It is different compare to this idea.
This is grouping apps visually in the home screen.
The idea is to break the traditional icon grids.
Probably I could inform "Apps Organizer" developer if he/she interested in implementing as feature

Re: AppGroup Widget !
You're aware that the app I'm talking about although does arrange apps into folders on the home screens (sadly it doesn't arrange widgets and shortcuts into folders) those folders once clicked expand visually not to another screen but a new small layer opens right there with the apps being displayed under the categories you've placed then in?
The dev of this app can easily add such a minor option that you're requesting but I would much rather use such an app as it already is since it can carry far more apps under each manually set folder icon and 'label' and yet take up only the screen estate of one widget with the benefit of no extra screens that you are transferred to away from home. Works absolutely excellent for me.
But overriding the grids... that's something I've been looking into myself too. Would be an interesting add.

hey guys I just downloaded launcher pro and pro plus, I can't find my stock weather widget, is there a fix or something to get it back inside launcher pro? plus I can't find a short cut for my 4g, airplane mode, GPS etc. buttons, can someone help me I'm a noob to this stuff

HTC widgets will not be available while LauncherPro or Pro + is your launcher. Switch back to the stock launcher to access HTC widgets.
thanks Doug, it would be a perfect launcher if the HTC Widgets were available, oh yea loving the Miami hurricanes avatar, that's who I root for

you can find the power control widget when you long press for a widget, it has most of the options, the 4g toggle widget you find it on the market, and a similar weather widget you could try fancy widget pro, which i think its free only today on amazon store

I agree. Anyway, here is a photo of my current homescreen. I use the Beautiful Widgets Weather, Minimalistic Text for the Date as well as LauncherPro.
thanks emc the power control widget is cool, and Doug thanks also, I put beautiful Widgets super clock on my home screen, gives me what I wanted... the big clock and the current weather for the city I'm in, plus I can still tap the minutes and bring up my alarms etc..

I want to be able to put widgets on the "locked" screen, so I just have to press the "home" button for a quick look at all my info display on my widgets and don't have to unlock and scroll to my widget screen. Anyone have info on how to do that?
there are apps for that like : http://www.appbrain.com/app/widgetlocker-lockscreen/com.teslacoilsw.widgetlocker and there is a free one but I don't remember the name
+1 for widget locker works great for me.

Great its does exactly what I wanted. Thanks!!
Basically I would like to know how to activate it? do i need a launcher?
thank you for the help in advance
Guess it's just not working with the new way of ICS how widgets are set up.
Long-press on the homescreen doesn't work and there are no signs of the app in widget tab in the app drawer.
Haven't checked a new launcher though.
Just installed from market and been using it since i got the nexus works perfectly..
So how do you setup new widgets?
Are you long pressing the screen for your widgets?

A lot of widgets seem to need a restart to show in the app drawer. Restart and you'll be good to go.

Can you set up a weather widget as just text?
What widgets look great on the Nexus 7? Please share your finds here. Cheers!

Widgetsoid2 widgets - very configurable, use background from your gallery for contacts.
Gasks - nice scrollable one for agenda and tasks.
N7 Player
Any Go Launcher shortcut - replace with any png image.
Excellent, thanks!
Does anyone know if there is a Whatsapp widget for counting unread messages?

I use HD Widgets for time and weather. I have the paid version. Not sure what the free one is like.

I use GO Launcher and GO Notifications for unread count. You have to search for the Go Notifications apk since the Play store says not compatible. I can confirm it works with Gmail and K9.

I have downloaded and installed the apk but I can find no sign of it anywhere. Could you tell me where to look for it? Thanks!
Edit: What I mean is that I don't get the option to open the file after install. Where did you find your apk?

I'm kind of partial to the widgets below:
Weathereye (having issues at the moment): http://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.citc.weather&feature=nav_result#
Minimalistic Text: http://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.devmil.minimaltext&feature=search_result#
Flipboard: http://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=flipboard.app&feature=search_result#
Power toggles: http://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.painless.pc&feature=search_result#
Simple Calendar: http://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.anod.calendar&feature=search_result#
If you want to see what it looks like check the post your home screen thread here.
UCCW - most customizable clock/weather/whatever widget available, check XDA main Themes forum for UCCW thread with 100s of themes
Minimal Reader - for news
Jorte - for Calendar
I use AOKP so no need for power toggles since they are in the dropdown...
Beautiful widgets has a nice selection of weather widgets.
You talkin' to me? GO notify is part of the GO app. If you hit settings and scroll to the right, you'll see notifications (after you installed the apk), click it and lets you set notifications for various things. It's not an app or widget, but does show up in system apps list.

If only they would fix the dynamic sizing option in their 4x1 weather. Using it at the moment until weathereye gets sorted. /rant
Another vote for power toggles here. Works well with the default theme (appearance wise)
