Best Widgets - Nexus 7 Themes and Apps

What widgets look great on the Nexus 7? Please share your finds here. Cheers!

Widgetsoid2 widgets - very configurable, use background from your gallery for contacts.
Gasks - nice scrollable one for agenda and tasks.
N7 Player
Any Go Launcher shortcut - replace with any png image.

Excellent, thanks!
Does anyone know if there is a Whatsapp widget for counting unread messages?

I use HD Widgets for time and weather. I have the paid version. Not sure what the free one is like.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2

I use GO Launcher and GO Notifications for unread count. You have to search for the Go Notifications apk since the Play store says not compatible. I can confirm it works with Gmail and K9.

I have downloaded and installed the apk but I can find no sign of it anywhere. Could you tell me where to look for it? Thanks!
Edit: What I mean is that I don't get the option to open the file after install. Where did you find your apk?

I'm kind of partial to the widgets below:
Weathereye (having issues at the moment): http://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.citc.weather&feature=nav_result#
Minimalistic Text: http://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.devmil.minimaltext&feature=search_result#
Flipboard: http://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=flipboard.app&feature=search_result#
Power toggles: http://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.painless.pc&feature=search_result#
Simple Calendar: http://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.anod.calendar&feature=search_result#
If you want to see what it looks like check the post your home screen thread here.

UCCW - most customizable clock/weather/whatever widget available, check XDA main Themes forum for UCCW thread with 100s of themes
Minimal Reader - for news
Jorte - for Calendar
I use AOKP so no need for power toggles since they are in the dropdown...

Beautiful widgets has a nice selection of weather widgets.

You talkin' to me? GO notify is part of the GO app. If you hit settings and scroll to the right, you'll see notifications (after you installed the apk), click it and lets you set notifications for various things. It's not an app or widget, but does show up in system apps list.

If only they would fix the dynamic sizing option in their 4x1 weather. Using it at the moment until weathereye gets sorted. /rant

Another vote for power toggles here. Works well with the default theme (appearance wise)

Free Calendar app

Is there a free Calendar app that has a 4x4 widget that syncs with google calendar...
Struggling to find one that works on my nexus
Stret
Personally I'm using the default Calender widget. You can resize it to 4x4. It's not as good as Simple Calender Widget but until that is fixed for ICS it's better than nothing.

You learn something every day, I did not know you could re-size widgets.
Ive succesfully done that but it just shows today, can you change the view to a monthly calendar?
Thanks though mate, appreciated
No prob. Glad to to help.
I don't see any way to change the display settings of the Calender widget though. Seems like it's stuck like that.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA App
Have you tried Jorte? I don't know if it's updated for ICS yet, but it's my go-to calendar. You can display the whole month in a 4x3 or 4x4, with your calendar entries actually spelled out, instead of just a dot that you have to zoom in on to see what it is. Pure Calendar Widget also does this, but is widget only, and costs $2.99 in the market.
Android pro widgets is really clean.. Also it includes a nice timeline style widget with both Facebook and twitter!
I recommend the paid version.. Some good themes.
Edit: forgot I was still in galaxy Nexus forums.. Not sure if it is ics compatible.

Full screen calender widget

Can anyone recommend a full screen or 4X6 calendar widget that shows the full month view? Another member submitted this screenshot in a different post but never responded to my pm about it.

I'm using Jorte which has several resizeable widget options for a full screen calendar.
Calender
The best calender widgets that i found and use is Wizz (scroll-able widget)

Android Pro Widgets or APW.

Thanks for the input. Pure Calendar looks pretty good but I opted for the free Business Calender. It's exactly what I was looking for!

Transparency is only good so far, wow. I dunno how you'd possibly read anything there, although your screenshot only shows the calendar, not events...
As for me, I use Agenda Widget for Android, which is very customizable and works good. I've used it for the whole time I've used Android, honestly never looked to see if there was anything out there better since. It has a list view (agenda, but you can do almost anything with it) or a grid view (calendar).
The good thing about it is that it supports a bunch of third party calendar apps too, like it can show (and create) events in Touchdown Exchange, etc.
Another vote for Agenda Widget. BTW, you must get paid version to be able to see calendar layout. Like previous poster, I'm not even thinking about trying something else. It's just that good. At least for me.

calender pad pro is worth a look , been using it for some time.
The events show up as slashes in the corners of the dates.

That specific calendar is APW widgets with the Lucid theme. Both are available in the play store, though to use themes you have to buy the pro key. I just set up that combo from the same pic you showed. It resizes well.

Lock screen widgets

The four lock-screen widgets are OK (the calendar is the most useful I feel), but I was surprised that there was only 4. Are there any others out there?

Mizuu has just updated to add some.
Personally, I've turned lockscreen widgets off for now.
Hopefully more apps get updated to support this feature as right now it's a bit useless
Sent from my HTC PH39100 using Tapatalk 2
There are more in the play store, search "4.2 lock screen widgets"...its mostly clocks, but any thing new is a plus!
EDIT: There are double as many apps as when I checked yesterday, new widgets, a lot more. I can only assume this is a glimpse of what's to come.

If you don't like the 4.2 lock screen clock there's the Nexus 4 clock that allows you to add the 4.2 Analogue clock to your lock screen. I've also added the IP Widget that allows you to add a Widget to your lock screen that provides network status.
In the UK there are only 3 Widgets clock, calendar & gmail by default for some reason, what's the 4th default Widget?

---- Missing Calendar Widgets in ADW Launcher ----

For some reason, the Calendar widgets that come with the application are missing in ADW Launcher. The only one that shows up is the simple Calendar widget that lists the upcoming events. They other 2 missing ones are the tan color full calendar and mini calendar.
Is it that they are only meant for Touchwiz? What can I do to get them in ADW?
Thanks in Advance!

you have to try with stock calendar from google..
it's simple and graphically consistent with Android
I use Jorte for my calendar widget and have the Samsung calender shortcut on the desktop next to it.

Tw calendar is based on tw launcher we can't add it on any other launcher. It sucks but thats life. Ps for the future please for the sake of god!!!!! When we get cm10 we can't get any tw features. . Just fyi.. not say your doing this just hate seeing threads and post for the same thing..
But yeah even the weather and clock widget cant be added.. you can find other things to make it look cool. Its just built into the framework

Seen this on android central feed, I like it a lot but my only gripe is the fact that the stock LS collapses it. I would love if it can stay "open" all the time instead of having to swipe down to see missed calls or texts. And the damn settings button always shows as well.

May be more options will be included in the next upgrades.

It uses Yahoo Weather, as stated, and apart from adding the extension it should just pick up your location. I didn't have to manually add it. Whether it is done by GPS or Mobile Network location, it just seemed to take for me.

This used to happen to me . Then i disabled the option to use home screen widgets in lock screen from my custom rom menu.
But now there is a new version from this app, that allows your homescreen widget to have full transparent background.
Yes i just updated recently, now how can i resize the overall icons and texts? They're so big... and i have to slide down to see the rest of the notifications.

I love the widget. Its fantastic. The only issue I've had is refresh time. I don't know if its there app or what, but I had a missed call yesterday morning. Even though I cleared the notification and even called them back it never went away from the widget. Hope he fixes it soon

Did you have a solution for this issue ? My LockScreen also take 2/3 from the Screen, so i cant see the full DashClock
Unless you have some sort of Lockscreen control built into the ROM, and enabled maximize lockscreen widgets or however it's worded, then there doesn't seem to be a way to force it to max size. Unless someone has found another method, which I am eagerly looking for.
I'm loving this, but the weather doesnt seem to show for me. Even tried defining a location in the default clock to see if it was connnected.
