As of right now (15-Dec 9:30 UK Time), 2.2 is available officially through Kies but only for the Norse.
Using the following registry hack I attempted to update:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Samsung\Kies\DeviceDB\1]
"SoftwareRevision"="I9000XXJF3/I9000SWC/I9000XXJF3/I9000XXJF3"
"ProductCode"="GT-I9000HKDXEE"
"HIDSWVER"="I9000XXJF3/I9000SWC/I9000XXJF3/I9000XXJF3"
"DEVCONINFO"=""
Originally Kies gave me this error and the firmware update would crash each time.
msc.thunder.firmwareupdate has stopped working
My solution was to do the following:
Uninstall Kies - The version which it had updated itself to automatically was
1.5.3.10093_80.
Then I downloaded this version: 1.5.3.10093_82. Note that the download on the main samsung support page was Kies_1.5.1.10062_42_2. But you can get the newer version from here:
Download new version
After uninstalling and then reinstalling this new Kies (released today), all my problems went away and I could install Froyo through Kies.
Hope this helps others with the same problem.
Tanks a lot
I'll definitely give it a try tonight m8, thx for the advice.
But first, Would u pls share ur impression I.e. does it worth all of this pain?
Cheers

Kies was officially updated three times within this week.
At the moment, as of oct-15th, the downloaded version from Italian support mobile site is the above mentionned Kies_1.5.3.10093_82.exe
Definetly something is moving on Samsung planet, now !
I've been trying to update my phone from yesterday but Kies shows me that it will update my phone to JM1 ?!? I've done the registry mods! Have the latest Kies!

So if I get this right, this is THE way to update to the official 2.2 from JPH too?
I change the regedit part and away we go?

i get serious wrong with this update...i got the update working..all is fine with that..but after the update smth seriously wrong occurred.. my version is still 2.1 but the unlock screen is like on 2.2 and also there is a task manager but no flash support?
What did i do wrong?
me 2
Help me two
samsung server is down according to swedish support
maybe an update
I mod all those files and I still get JM1 as the latest update :S
Help?
Registry Hack doesn't work at all in my case.
What exactly do I have to do?
I copy&pasted the Code into a text-file, saved it as .reg and applied the registry-update but Kies still tells me there's no device which hast to be updated.
What am I doing wrong here?
Samsung have removed the JP6 from Kies Firmwareserver.
So theres no way to get Froyo via Kies even if Samsung have released it officially in some regions?
Strange...
Edit: Kies offers me an update now, but only to JP1. So I definitely can't get Froyo via Kies?
Damn -.-
Same here but i get JM2.
I have an unlocked UK Galaxy S on T-Mobile and I am trying to upgrade to JP6. With no reg update the latest version of Kies tells me that I am on the latest version JM1.
After the registry edit it shows my version in Kies as JF3 and offers me an update to JM2. I did the update to JM2 once to see what happens however I still do not get offered JP6. The option to upgrade to JM2 still appears and I am told I am on JF3.

No it isn't - the 2.73 is the build number, the rest just indicates operator and region.

Hi, whats the radio version in this ROM?
Thanks
Interesting that this update arrives at the same time t-mobile are rolling out Android 1.6 OTA to USA G1 owners ...
Could this update be Sense UI on top of Android 1.6?
Its not, its a 1.5 system
I can confirm issues with flashrec.
Installing custom recovery from adb shell is not working either..

as i suspected it might, sounds like it ships a kernel that fixes the one-click-root hole, and it replaces the recovery rom image.
Anyone know how to extract the rom images from that windows executable?
i want to mess about a bit and install only parts of it from linux.
Searching the forums the closest i can find is a suggestion of using winrar, but i had someone try that on their windows box and it doesnt work.
or as a fall back, does anyone know if someones managed to do a nandroid backup of a freshly upgraded g2. (after rooting it the hard way presumably)
Paul @ Modaco twittered that he'd root and repack the T-Mobile UK update on Thursday (i.e. tomorrow).
Regards,
Dave
I have extracted the Rom Images
Run the RUU then leave it running
then Start-> Run -> %TEMP%
then look through the folders untill you find one with adb in (search) this has a rom.zip file.
So the radio rom is 63.18.55.06FU_6.35.07.08.
But isn't this version supposed to freeze T-Mobile UK HSDPA?!

'supposed' is an odd word to use.
I don't know how many people have reported the freezing on HSDPA, however I have not had any.
I only installed the new radio earlier today, but I'm not having eny problems with HSDPA, I even downloaded a 200mb file and whatched the whole process just to see if it hung.
It didnt.
I do not know for sure whether the signal is better, but it's definately not worse.
I'll post again tomorrow when I've tested out the signal and internet a bit more.
hi, when i try to flash this rom i've got this message "erreur 131: erreur client id"????

If you've already applied the T-Mobile UK update via the RUU, you're probably out of luck, as it seems it replaces your recovery image with one that can't currently be replaced.

At the official Samsung Servis in my country, they are already installing the official Froyo software version:
i9000XXJPH
P.S. By Servis I mean Official Repair Shop, not Internet server.
I also do not have it on my own phone but the friend who was today at Samsung because he wanted to get an upgrade for better 2.1, got 2.2 XXJPH since they got it just today. I asked him for a screenshoot and when I will get it, I will publish it here. I also called to the Samsung Slovenia and they confirmed to me that they do have 2.2 version.
And I am not from Slovakia (as I can read in some posts) but from Slovenia. Learn geography.

Flashing (original)
How I did it:
- Optional: Remove lagfixes. CFLagFix does not need to be removed before flashing, unsure about other lagfixes.
- Go into recovery and wipe data and cache, the flash doesn't do this
- Open Odin
- Put the phone in download mode and connect USB
- In Odin, select 803.pit, and ADD_P_U.tar as PDA. (I didn't do repartition coming from JM2, your mileage may vary)
- Flash
NOTE: Not everybody is able to flash right. If the above doesn't work for you, read the rest of this thread. You can try flashing JPC first, this helps for some.

The date seems to be the september 23d for official version by official way.
it is possible the rom is yet on servers
i hope so
super excited!!
i will hold out lol...remember JPC
Never forget the issues JPC brought for some (KOR anyone?)
i really hope samsung isnt about to throw in a mega disappointment with their stock froyo release! the anxiety, the wait time, the expectations....all be better justified!!!
better or fixed file system, froyo speed and memory improvements better be there in the final release!!! if the fs is not fixed, they better release the sources immediately so that supercurio can atleast build us a voodoo fix
Well, I never had the KOR problem with JPC, I installed it via Kies and never had a problem with it so far. Only problem is that I can't update the regular way now because Kies claims it can't update from JPC of course...^^

still 2.2
kernel 2.6.32.9 [email protected]#1
my tab was All Signed. I can flash JME to This firmware. No need to wipe. Odin 1.7 flashed only PDA and Manually reboot with Power+up.
it's smooth so far.
Is this for general Asia Pacific region or only for Thailand?
What's the decryption code for the enc file?
I am currently using DXJM4 version, but go through Kies, no updates available. Very weired.
it's asia version not only thailand , it think euro can use it as well because mine can use euro firmware version.
decrypt code, you can see above. try to look at it again.
anyway after I use Odin to flash,it can't update via kies anymore. normally kies firmware will roll up after fus in a few day or longer.

IF YOUR BOOT IS STILL UNSIGNED , DO NOT FLASH SBL AND BOOT FROM THIS ROM.
It is very solid build. very smooth and browser seems to be smoother, scrolls better even when pages are still loading.
No extra apps.
Unlike KA build , kernel is signed so it can loaded if u have signed bootloader (jm*)
Very few locales, just english uk, english na and some asian.
You can repack it without sbl and boot files and flash on the top of the signed roms.

I'd like to. I have family events to attend to tomorrow, but if someone would post an unencoded firmware for download, Ill grab it and apply all the JME mods to it. In the meantime, feed back on KM2's quality is valuable. I'd hate to waste time on it just to go back to JME

The moment the phone boots, it's all Russian (or greek, or something!)
I was listed under the EURO rom, i DOwnloaded and Odin it..... but I cannot get the language to go English.
I tried to go to Locale to change it to English - but Have no idea where I am.
I tried to flash JME back, but the tab still boots up in Russian.
How can I get it back to JME?
Out of frustration I flashed the JME pit file, but not difference, still Russian.
I'm stuck
Someone have any idea?....LOL
Thanks
Don't flash KM2 either.
KM2 only includes english (UK, US), Bahasa (Indonesia, Malaysia) Ting Viet and other asian locales
Font seems to be a bit thinner - looks good!
browser still laggy with blank pages after a second site is opened

Downloaded and have been trying to flash, back from XPKH3. So far, without any success.
- If I try to flash with the bundled MultiLoader version 2.62, it reports and error right at the beginning, right after (successfully) transferring the bootloader, upon trying to delete the old bootloader.
- If I try to flash with the latest (2.65) MultiLoader version, everything seems to be all right; however, after the flashing and restarting the phone, what I get is the usual connect screen with the exclamation mark. From there, I can only switch to download mode again, but nothing else.
Flashing back to the latest 2.0 XPKH3 (with 2.65, of course) always works.
I'll soon try flashing with 2.62 without overwriting the bootloader (that is, removing the checkmark from the first checkbox) to see what happens as it's at erasing the bootloader that 2.62 fails.

is the real thread you gave me the link...do not forget to change the product code to DBT because I tried first XEU and KIES refused to update....
It should work properly....when I flashed just click ''full download and Master Rom" "LSI was already clicked by default"......
Good luck....

Thanks again. I've found out what I've done wrong: I've forgotten to check in the "Boot Change" (first) checkbox. When checking it in, with all the firmware versions (S8530XXJKA.rar I've linked to above; GT-S8530_XEF_S8530XXKF1_S8530OXAKD7.rar linked from the SamFirmware repo as the latest (June 2011) 1.2 firmware; even hacked ones with call recording, that is, S8530XXJKA_FULL_Custom_SHP_CR_1.0b_sYCO.rar ) I've thrown it at, it worked just fine.
I've used ML 2.65 for flashing all the time. Haven't tested 2.62 this time.
Good news...
Happy for you...
Hello all,
links in previous posts are dead.
Can any of you post this file (previous 1.x version of bada, europeean or french XEF release).
Purpose is also downgrading and upgrade tests via Kies.
Best regards,
Fred
