Hello again everyone,
Today while looking at settings-->"SD and Phone Storage", Astro File manager and talking with a friend thats using a capivate phone i was wonderning about the phones internal storage and its relation to the SD card.
Is the internal Phone storage the same as the SD card except obvously you cant upgrade or remove the phone storage?
If a ROM upgrade or different ROM install is preformed will i loose the files on the Internal Phone storage?
Thanks
NO, you will not loose your files on your internal storage by flashing a ROM. What might happen is the ROM doesn't yet support internal storage (most do now). Then you would not be able to access or use the internal storage even though the files are there. Like others have said make sure you read the channel logs and known issues log to see if the rom does support the internal storage. I hope this helps.
Great!
Thanks

Whenever I use a TW based ROM, I am able to use the file explorer to view both directories. Upon opening file explorer, it would default to the directory for internal storage. A folder in this directory labeled external_sd would then lead to the directory for the external SD card as advertised.
I realize however that CM9 and AOKP rename internal sd to emmc and external to sd card. The issue is, when using a file browser such as estrongs, the root directory defaults to sd card (aka the external storage) and it is impossible find the emmc. When downloading zips from the browser, the files are automatically saved to the emmc (internal) under the download folder, but on CM9/AOKP I can't figure out how to move files from emmc to sd card because I set TWRP to look at external only. Help?

If you enable root explorer in the settings of esfile explorer (free app) u can go to the internal like on tw roms

Try Astro File Manager, it comes up for me just fine.
I don't understand
Hello everyone.
I'm really sorry if I am repeating some other thread or if I am asking questions at the wrong forum. If so, please point me to the right direction.
I searched a lot on the internet about my issue but I can't find any solution for it.
I have a Moto Razr XT910 GSM and just installed AOKP based on Android 4.2.2.
I followed the instructions I found over the internet. They are the same, almost everywhere. So it worked just fine.
I wiped out delvik, cache and internal storage, then created a slot-2 partition with 1GB, where I flashed the ROM. It booted perfectly, and everything was working just fine until I started receiving an error message when I tried to install apps from Google Play. It said I had no space left on my internal storage.
The device I have comes with 8GB internal sdcard. I use my 32GB external sdcard to store music and it was not mounted when I flashed the ROM.
Now, when I go to system settings / storage, I can see I have two entries of internal storage: one with 0,98 GB of space, 150 MB available; and another with 8GB, 5,89GB available, which I can't access and neither can the OS. All the apps are being installed on the 0,98GB internal storage.
When I connect to my PC, it shows two mass storages: one, the external sdcard with 32GB; and the other, the internal sdcard with 8GB, but the Android OS does not recognize almost 6GB of it.
It is not an excess of files or trash, or rest of old OS files, nor anything like that. And all of the sudden I have this icon telling me my "storage space is running out". How can it be if I still have Almost 6GB of free memory? I don't understand,
Can anyone explain to me what is happening? Is there anything I can do to solve this problem?
Thank you very much.

Edit:
When I mounted my external sdcard, the OS started to install the app files on it, and not on my internal sdcard.
Also, my root explorer shows something wrong with the sdcard, and sdcard-ext. The files inside the sdcard folder are those from my external sdcard, and vice-versa.
Maybe that is the problem, but I am don't know how to solve it.
Hi everyone, I'm new to these forums so please go easy. I'm not even sure if this is the right place to post about the n7102 because there's no section for this phone.
Basically, my problem is that I've recently run out of space on n7102. I cannot download more apps from the Google Play Store. I have tried using Lucky Patcher to remove bug fixes and also tried deleting dalvik-cache, but I think that fixes an entirely different problem.
My device has the following storage spaces:
Phone storage: 500mb
Internal storage: 2gb
External SD card: 16gb
For some reason, the phone writes to the external sd card where I store my media files. However, the internal storage is not even used at the moment. Right now, some apps are saved to the external sd card so my widgets take a while to load on startup. I think this might be because I wiped reformatted my internal memory card after i reformatted my external sd card through Settings > Apps.
I want to know if it is possible to:
1. repartition the phone storage (500mb) to include the unused 2 gb internal storage (total 2.5gb); or
2. swap these two partitions (phone storage 2 gb, internal storage 2.5gb)
I do not want to make a partition on my external sd card to extend my phone storage to use as data
I've looked on the web and this is what I have found:
- MT6577 2GB data repartition with int2ext: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1914184
- Swapping internal and external sd card: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1716166
- Mounting /data partition onto the internal storage space: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1648411
I've looked at a lot more pages concerning issues similar to this, but a lot of the time they use phone storage/internal storage/external sd storage, etc., interchangably. It can get quite confusing. I understand that android sees its internal storage and external storage space the same.
I've also read about the file "Mt657xRepartition_EN.rar" and wonder if it can be used on the n7102 without any problems.
Anyhow, thanks for reading this. If you can help, please do. I appreciate it. I only recently got this phone and have been tinkering with it the past few days. Before, I had been using an Xperia U that had 2 GB of phone storage vs the n7102's 500mb of phone storage so I have not run into this problem before.
Cheers.
[UPDATE] I am not sure but the two internal storage spaces may not be merged. I might have to try to use link2sd between these two for apps and save the external sd card for personal storage use.
Hi Guys,
I was waiting for the Marshmallow Update because now u can use ur SD as a internal Memory. Everything went fine.
Now my Problem. I saved all the Data from the SD Card to my PC. Now i want to put all the Data like Music/Photos etc. back on my Phone. But how????
I cant see the Memory over HTC Sync Manager nor the Explorer while connected via USB. Is the any Chance to get my Data back on the Phone? Please help
Thank you!
Did you have try to select "Transfer files (MTP)" from notification menu?
As described here:
http://www.androidcentral.com/inside-marshmallow-usb-connection-options
yes, i selected that. i can see the "original" internal memory in the pc explorer, but not any more storage. and the sd card doesnt appear at all....

The sd card doesn't appear because it is now internal storage. The internal storage you see should include your sd card. How much total space does Windows see on it? It should be more than your original internal storage space was.
Once you use the adoptable storage option, it's normal for a PC to only see internal. Your sd card has become internal storage.
it shows 10,6 gb like before. and ive got a 64gb card...
the only way i can see it is on the phone itself

Well, I haven't tried it myself so I'm not sure but perhaps the fact that the card gets encrypted in the formatting process has something to do with it. Perhaps Windows just can't read it. Like I said, I don't know for sure. If that's the case, I would imagine your only option would be to upload your stuff to the cloud somewhere and then download it to your phone. Perhaps someone else who's using adoptable storage will see this and chime in about it here.
I have a LG G3 running stock M 6.0
I'm trying to increase my 16GB flash size or at least move my big apps to my external SD.
I did OK with Spotify and some others, but few others (like some games) are not moving their data to my external sd.
I have problems with those apps detecting my Internal Storage as my external SD card due to the fact that the Android mounts the internal storage in
/sdcard/
linked to some other folder
/storage/emulated/0
while my real external SD card is actually mounted on
/storage/7FB0-1DEE/
What on the earth is this thing calling my internal storage, sdcard, and my external sdcard to some strange mounted folder with a weird code that of course my apps have no idea wth is that...
Any ideas how to workaround that? Any guidelines will be very much appreciate it.

PD. I don't want to use any App2SD or FolderMount rooted 3rd parties to create logical links/shortcuts and "pretent" or make thing the app the files are on the internal storage, when they are on the external sd. That thing works OK. I rooted my stock FW and tested it that way, but I dont want my phone to have root access.
PD2. I installed RR582-Nougat711 to test this Ext SD adoption (which is not available on G3 Stock M 6.0). It sort of worked OK but I lost my ext sdcard when connecting it to my PC. I'm not willing to make my external sd part of the internal storage anymore. That think is awkward, encrypting my card and losing portability to MTP transfer.
My V500 has somehow lost it's internal SD card, so can't do simple tasks like take a photo as it has nowhere to store it. I have done a factory reset and even a fresh ROM install, but it still can't see it.
It can see the external SD card OK, and OTG USB.
TWRP doesn't appear to have any functions to format or partition this, only wipe it.
How can I get internal SD space back?
My vk815 is pure stock, and it has a similar bug that the SD card is 'unexpectedly ejected' when it really hasn't been, nor even jostled. I've given up just about all hope, and use it sparingly, only for created file storage. No apps.
I'm referring to the internal SD card, the non-removable one.
I cannot see the following with a file explorer...
system/sdcard
mnt/sdcard
Programs install fine from Play Store, which uses the same SD, just different partition.
Fixed it by going into TWRP - Wipe - Format Data
