Odd clicking? - Desire General

Has anyone else noticed that they get an odd clicking every few key presses when using the vibration feedback on the keyboard? I've been getting this since I first got my Desire but I think it might be inherently faulty. Does anyone know if this would be covered under the warranty if I sent it to 3 UK to get it repaired? Thanks for any help

That is probably the autofocus of the camera. It occurs if you put it on a hard surface too. It's normal.

Thanks I was slightly worried, as my Desire also seems to have an ill-fitting bezel. By that I mean there's a slight gap between the bezel and screen. I guess I'll have to live with it though...

the gaps between the optical pad and the menu button (left) and the back button (right) are equal on my device.
Not sure I know what you mean
There seems to be a little gap between actual trackpad button and the edge of the hole it sits in. If I am thinking the same way you are, look at the pictures -

Now I don't think it is a factory defect because mine doesn't sit "right in the middle".
Yeah, one of the first things I noticed. *shrugs*

Thank goodness I am not the only one
Also...now that I am thinking about it, couldn't people living in the U.S. now get some sort of warranty help through HTC U.S.A.? Since U.S. Cellular is going to be carrying the Desire, it would only make sense that the United States division of HTC could possibly offer some sort of warranty help
(I remember reading through the white warranty booklet that came with my Desire, and it said that HTC offers a 2 year warranty)
No gap on my Desire.... :/
Obviously this is down to manufacturing tolerances, if you make sure you always push it slightly to the left when ever you "click" It'll probably be central after a couple of weeks
Mine is in the middle too. Tolerances....
my one got a gap too.
but I hardly ever use the optical trackpad other than taking picture so don't bother me much.
I think its bcoz of the chin design the button is a bit misaligned.
Got no gap here, i'd think its manufacturing tolerance to.
Mines got a slight gap on the left as well, seen two other Desires which have the same, no biggie really, it still works fine and is only ever really noticeable when in a dark place and the backlight is on.
my optical has now malfunctioned see my other post

Dust under screen

Got the same issue and would be interested if someone knew a way to clean it up...
I had this and HTC did repair it under warranty. The took about 10 days from collection to delivery but it is a bit hit and miss.
i read since the beginning that some have this problem.
Thank god, i don't have it. And i don't use a case and have it most of the time in my dusty pockets. So, it seems that some phones just work right, no dust under screen, and some not. This should be fixed by the warranty, don't try to fix it yourself.
I had this 3 times with other phones (non HTC), and it always looked like it's not between the cover and the display, it looked like it's in the display. I got it fixed on one, they replaced the whole display ...
defo can be hit and miss. some people got the phone back with more dust in it since the repair guys tried to clean it in a non-clean room.
if its not very bad I would leave it. I have small bit of dust bit only visible in direct sunlight. thought about sending it back. they would not give me a new phone but said they would try and repair it. it would take 3 weeks. I decided to live with it.

I have a small particle of dust under my screen which is only visible when the phone is off or in standby mode.
It is probably worth bearing in mind that I have had three Desires and all suffered from this problem.
It's on visible if you really look for it, but once you know it is there it does become annoying.
You can send it away to be cleaned, but as others have mentioned, some have reported their phone being returned with even more dust. This is why I have refrained from sending mine away to be cleaned.
I think the dust gets under the screen during the manufacturing process as all three handsets I have had have suffered from dust under the screen upon removal from the box and none of them got any extra dust under the screen as time went on.

Display issue - would you swap it?

Hello guys,
I got my new HOX yesterday, an HT23 model. So far this is the only issue I've found:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mnBY-rvhbts
it's quite annoying, but I'd never push it like that tough. I bought it online, so I should just send it back and wait for a replacement. Would you guys do that? Or is that a "normal" behavior??
Thx in advance.
If its really annoying, you should swap it, but if everything is functioning good and it doesnt bother you, you should keep it

Most HOX will do that so save yourself hassle and don't swap Iv had 3 and they all done it current one not as bad as first but its not noticeable or replicable if just using handset like a normal person

I've also noticed a very very small gap on top of the screen, which is not present in all other sides of it. Would it be a problem in the long run??

Hi, Mine has that gap too... Not a problem for me though, I just ignore it
The problem with the screen is completely normal, it is an LCD, so it should be like that (Liquid Crystal Display, when you push your finger on liquid it'll compress and change form, thus changing color) you can test this on your computer or television and same thing will happen there more or less.

Help, screen issues

So ive had my g2 about two years now, its got is scratches and what not, but for the most part it functions well.
The largest issue is that sometimes when using the touch screen when i pull my finger away that area will stay activated like my finger is there. Happens a lot when using the on screen keyboard, and it seems to be getting a little worse.
Sometimes a good cleaning helps, but before long it comes back.
Anyone have the same experience, or able to recommend a fix.
Was thinking of doing a digitizer/screen replacement but figured id see if there were any experienced suggestions.
Thanks in advance!

since my phone is new I have this ''issue''.
I got it on the motorola milestone also.
But for me, the problem appear when I have sweaty hand ( stress or too much cofee). It looks like if I still press a key even if my finger is off.
My brother had the same problem on is galaxy SII , he put a plastic film (protective glass) and the problem is gone.
In inverse, if my fingers are too dry, the screen has difficulty to respond.
My solutions : wash my hans often, dont drink coffee, dont stress and wipe the screen on my jeans.
Thread moved to Q & A section, post in the relevant section next time.

Creaky Right Side

Anyone have this issue? Go half way down the right hand side of your M8 with thumb on front and index finger on rear then pinch together. I've not noticed before, but when I do that now it creaks like its loose or there is some 'give'.
This is not actually mine, but the problem is similar but less extreme to this:

Having just replaced the rear housing on my M8, this problem no longer exists. I'm not exactly sure what was causing it, possibly a loose catch. But since replacing the housing it's completely gone now.

I have exactly the same complaint. I've incidentally explored this creak and feeling quite frustrated since what I mostly feel positive about this device is its gorgeous build quality. I've watched some disassembly videos and seen that most of the phone parts including board and screen is seperated from the back cover. Changing the back cover is the last option for me since I've bought this device not so long time ago. Anyone come across this issue?
