For some reason my ROM lags after about a week of running it. It is the same with all of them, so no indictment on RR. I run LauncherProPlus and it runs smooth for a few days then eventually just ends up lagging.
I notice the most lag when I first turn the screen on. I had SetCPU putting my CPU speed down when the screen was off, but I changed it back and hasn't helped.
Its not a huge issues, just thought I would get better responsiveness from a phone of this caliber.

Kernel and SetCPU profile? Is there a constant throughout all ROMs?

Is anyone using SetCPU with gingerbread?
I'm using GingerVillain 1.5 but I can't seem to find the right profiles with SetCPU.
Oc'd @ 1,2 Ghz without profiles.
Because when I use the screen off profile, my screen sometimes won't turn on.
Screen off - min 245 max 1200
Can someone help me finding the right profiles?
Share your user experience.
In my experience and many others too, the profiles are not needed. The only profile you should ever need is a temperature profile and that's only if you really have it cranked up.
Having a screen off profile is always bad since switching to another profile doesn't happen instantly - there are polling intervals involved and until the next cycle runs your phone will still be using the screen off profile. That makes the phone slow which causes SetCPU to take longer in switching profiles, bogs down the cpu and it becomes a vicious cycle for a few seconds (sometimes a couple minutes). All the while it's draing your battery because the cpu has to work harder. Even regular profiles eat the battery due to the constant querying of the systems status and processing power used for that - which is the main reason you'll hear people whining about their battery life (some aren't effected as much).
Profiles are just not a good idea except for a temp profile for those that oc to the higher GHz (probably 1.4+).
You could try using cpu tuner instead. Gives you way more options.
CM 7
You have a lot of options with cpu tuner.
What triggers and/or profiles do you use?
My screen on/off has been working fine with CM7 nightlies before and after the RC1. I've been using SetCPU with a normal profile of 1017max/245min and a screen off profile of 365max/245min.
I think your issue is with overclocking. Idk about Gingervillain but as far as CM7 goes lots of people are having issues with the on/off animations and wakelock issues when overclocked over 1ghz. Try using your profiles and clocking at or under 1ghz and see how things change.
Not sure why anyone would really need a higher clock than 1ghz but what do I know. I dont see any slowdowns at 1017mhz and I feel that anything faster than that would lead to heat or battery issues?
Yes, screen off profiles work. But they drain your battery faster than if you have no profiles.

thanks bro, i OC'd to 1017 and there are no issues

I'm not so sure about this. Have you tested this at all? Starting using screen off profiles of 365max/245min have really increased my battery life, especially when my phone sits idle for a decent amount of time. I don't think you could see more battery life by leaving the clock at 1ghz while the screen is off.

Every kernel that I know of out there drops down the clock cycle when the screen times out. The reason not having the screen off profile saves the battery is because SetCPU isn't constantly sending requests about the phones state and then checking that against your profiles to see if it meets the parameters set in them.
Now it could be a bit different for you. You might have a different set up or different apps that make having a screen off profile useful (ones that constantly update or run in some way). You just have to watch your phone for a few days and get an app that keeps track of that stuff so you know which route to take.

This is very true. It is definitely hard to make a blanket statement because no two people have the exact same setup. All I was saying is what I've been doin with the screen off animation and I've been having pretty solid battery numbers.
Problem with the phone, when i go to unlock it sometimes, the screen will stay black and then just suddenly do a hard boot quite annoying! Sometimes it happens once a day or sometimes everytime you unlock it.
Any suggestions?
Using cyangen 7 mod
Thanks
Well these problems are always hard to solve, but I have a few suggestions. First of all, try running 1 GHz with performance governor for a while. It is not good for daily use because of big battery drain, but if it solves your problem, then the issue is in your kernel.
Transitions from low power state to fully awake state in a CPU require good stability, as the voltage jumps nearly at the same time as frequency. If your CPU struggles when you use your current voltages, it might just be unstable enough to cause a fatal error when you unlock your device.
Ever since I updated my phone to stock 4.0.4, it's not been the same buttery smooth Epic Touch that it used to be on Gingerbread. Sometimes the lags gets so bad that the phone would restart itself. I have done a reformat and things have been going smooth for about 2 months and it has started lagging again now. Right now I am running minimum 3rd party apps, and only limited to reputable ones such as Facebook and whatnot. The CPU Spy shows the phone is in deep sleep most of the time. Android OS still takes up about 90% of battery usage. I made sure nothing is hogging up the ram in task manager and clear memory 2-3 times a day. Yet, it still lags like crazy especially while typing or turning the screen off.
Can anyone chime in on what else could be causing this?

since you mention facebook what's your sync situation like? just a suggestion as I remember similar threads where constant syncing was causing issues... if android os is using that much battery something is amiss... its just a matter of figuring out what...

FB's refresh interval is set to 1 hour. Is that what you are referring to?

Welcome to ics. I get the same thing and have tried everything. Good news is they are pumping out new builds pretty quick to hopefully they are working out all the kinks.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda app-developers app
try a different rom.
I've been having issues with the GN2's performance while scrolling menus and playing games. Jetpack Joyride is the most noticeable, with it stuttering all throughout. This even happens with simple games like Scramble with Friends, making it more unresponsive than it should be. Plugging the phone into the wall seems to lessen the stuttering. It also appears that the longer the app is used it slightly lessens the stuttering.
Strangely, frame rates seem better while playing 3D intensive apps like Death Dome.
My Galaxy S2 did not have any of these problems throughout its entire life span, ever. It did everything buttery smooth, which is strange considering this phone is supposed to be more powerful. The stuttering isn't terrible, but it's definitely there, and I'm not exactly happy with it.
This occurs no matter how many idle programs are closed or what Launcher that is used. I've used TouchWiz, Launcher Pro, and Go Launcher.
Is anyone else having this problem? Is this something that can be fixed or should I return the phone for another?

Wow, hahaaa! Thanks a lot! That's silly to think that works. I felt like it was some sort of power related issue and was sooner going to overclock the CPU than suspect that option.
It didn't work immediately after disabling it, but once I restarted the phone everything was fine. THANKS AGAIN!!
I've had my G3 since launch and it's always lagged really bad when I've been using more than 1 app at once e.g., listening to music and web browsing. The device reaches 95c and then shuts down so I've had to downclock the CPU to 1.9ghz to stop the shutdowns. With it underclocked, it lags even worse now and still reaches quite high temps (75c~) I'm still on a rooted Kitkat as I haven't had time to upgrade the ROM. Do the new 5.xx ROM's fix the lag? Does it still over heat when doing really simple things?
Hi,
When i was on the stock 5.0 (20h) i had a bit of overheating but never reached the point of a shutdown.
Now I'm on a custom Rom (cloudy 2.5) and i have no heating issues, and a very good battery life.
You can try flashing the latest KDZ for your device and test it. You should also check that you don't have a process eating resources running in the background.
For me the only application that lags is the phone/agenda. It is bad lagging when you have many contacts.
I hope it helps.
Regards

95c? thats frying hot and not safe at all. I guess since you have had it since launch you cant return it. try custom roms and kernels and if it doesnt still fix, i d say go for another device.
assuming you are rooted and have twrp, you can try the ctt mod: http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/development/thermal-mod-t2907363
worked for me and im on stock rom stock kernel kitkat(vs985). i just got on opera browser for about 6 minutes and the temp just sat at 55c and the power button is not even warm. before flashing the ctt mod i would start blowing at the back of my phone after 2 minutes of web browsing alone.
