Is there a way of populating the calendar with this information?
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
Not in a stock ROM, no. There's an app available on the market called Sundroid which does an awesome job, though. They can be widget-ised, so you might be able to pop them on the same screen as your calendar.

totally blown away by my desire, although, I still need to tick one more box.
I use my calendar a lot and utilise the busy/free option on windows mobile to mark entries as done. this functionality exists on google calendar but not on the android calendar.
can anyone offer any advice or suggest an alternative calendar that provides this ?

Try pure calendar grid. I use that. Maybe email the developer first. He gets back in good time.
thanks, given that a go but its just a widget that links into the existing calendar.
any other ideas ?

But it links to google calander.
yep, not disputing that. just need this one bit of functionality.
thought it would be widely used in android as its a standard part of google calendar itself.
just can't find the ability to use it on any apps.

Give the guy an email, maybe he can help.
I too have the same issue. I sync with Exchange via Activesync and it doesn't honour the free/busy option.
I use Vibrate During Meetings (VDM) which sets your phone onto vibrate during meetings. This has an option to only do this for appointments marked as "busy", but since the Desire calendar doesn't honour this setting it's no good to me.
I am on call for a week at a time, so put an appointment in my calendar for on call which is marked in Exchange as free. Unfortunately since the free setting doesn't propagate to the phone (by either HTC Sync or Activesync) the phone puts itself on vibrate for a week at a time.
I'd be interested in a solution if anyone finds one.
agreed.
can't believe that this functionality hasn't been considered in the android calendars.
this is probably not an issue to a lot of people but its key to my phone usage, especially after coming from winmob where this had been standard for years.

I wondering if any one has used any good email clients. The one on the stock android is good for personal use but falls really short for work purpose.

Good question, I am looking for the same thing because I use Road Runner. And man, t-Mobile jacked my phone up. They set up a filter and all my emails where sent to my phone as a text message. Now I can not find out how to fix it because sometimes my email works and sometimes it doesnt and I think that the filter is screwing everything up. I called them and they said that they deleted the filter, however it still sends my messages via text.
Super Annoying!!!
I saw some one mentioned k-9 Mail, its much better than the
One that comes with the phone. If there is one btter than that then please suggest.

How about Touchdown by Nitrodesk? I've been using it for a couple of years now and I like it.

In what way do you feel the stock app falls short for work? I use it for work everyday and it does everything I need it too. What features are you looking for in an email app that the stock one doesn't have?
Just curious, that's all.....
Well for one it does not foward attachments and also u can't clear the trash folder.

Odd. I forward mail containing attachments from my work account to my personal account all the time, and they forward just fine. And you can clear the trash folder. Select the account you want, hit menu, folders, trash and then select the messages you want deleted, and hit delete. Done.
I realize it might not be as convenient as some may want, but it does work.
One thing I've noticed with the stock gmail app is that you can't save attachements...unless I'm missing something but when I email a xls spreadsheet to myself it gives me a option to preview it but no save.
im using touchdown for now.
I need to be able to search email and the stock client does not allow for that
I've been using Seven (which is free) on WM for years. It's not nearly as polished on Android, but it's decent. I'm looking for alternatives and will give Touchdown a try.
Is there an offline Calendar for the DHD? I'm getting significant lag when loading calendars, its not always instant, and inserting events etc using the Pure Calendar app is also laggy and doesnt always find my Google Calendar.
I came from the SGS and it had both google calendars and local offline calendars (much quicker).
Anyone else experiencing issues with the calendar?
What about a stock android calendar?
Theres no actual app or way to access an offline calendar? Is this for real? Or am i missing something..?
Help please?
Try to delete the calendar memory database. Or a hard reset, after that my problems were gone!

You can try this:
Settings-Applications-Manage applications - (on top you will see tab "Running"-open it)-find Calendar and tab on it- then tab onto Clear data.
After this make a synchronization with your Google account.
Hope this helps.
Regards.
I'll try. Thank you very much!!!!!

Facebook calendar not showing on my android. It's showing in more setting calendars. But nothing showing as actual content... anyone any idea?
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
You might have to use a Facebook app like FdCal or something like that. I wasn't able to get the to show until I did that.
It was all there before, but showed about three entries for each person... cleared the calendar storage to try and reset all the duplication and only a few entries came back. Don't understand why I only have a few Facebook birthdays showing now...
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
Just counted up... 6 birthdays are there randomly in the year.... bit there loads missing... no idea why only a few synchronized

I think it just takes time for some reason... got loads more birthdays appearing now I left it a few days...

Hi,
I don't like the S-planner, plus it doesn't alert me with passed calendar events if the phone has been turned off during that time. I havent found any solution to this as of yet, but is the standard Google calendar available for the phone instead?
And if so, what is it called?
This is really annoying, please help!
Here is a link to the calendar on the market. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.calendar
