Nandroid backup/restore errors - EVO 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

PC36100 HTC Evo with Froyo
Rooted with Fresh 3.2 ROM
Basically Got it all installed and all my apps reinstalled with titanium back up, reinstalled my contacts, then set up the layout for all the apps and widgets the way I like it.
I first used Rom Manager to make a back up of the install. After it finished and the phone rebooted back in everything was reset to a set up similar to when I first rooted with phone only some widgets had "Problem loading Gadget" boxes and some apps were missing along with wall paper and stuff like that.
I reinstalled all my apps and set it all up and then when into recovery and did a backup with Nandroid. After the reboot everything was messed up again. the same as before. Thinking that it was just a bad install. I wiped all data and installed the Fresh ROM from scratch and installed everything yata yata.
Tried to make a back up again since it was a fresh install but the same problem keeps happening. What am I doing wrong or is there some folder with data in it that is getting messed up or overwritten when I do a back up. I'm not changing anything or doing a restore so no changes should be made to cause this.
I've also tried to do a restore after the problem and it just loads back up the same way with the problems.

Force close in apps after titanium backup

So I made a nand backup of my Fresh rom, did a titanium backup of everything then wiped my phone and installed the DC rom. I used titanium backup to then try to get all of my original settings back. Handcent loads up and got restored with all of the settings I had before, but when I press a conversation it loads up and I can see it but I immediately get a force close for the handcent app. It did, however, work fine right after I reinstalled it and before I performed the titanium backup. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling it but can't get it to work... Any ideas?
On another note, I cannot get my nand backup of the Fresh rom I have working. I wipe the dalvik and wipe the data and then restore the nand backup but it gets stuck on the fresh loading screen and loops... no clue why that happens either.
im just taking a guess here, but do you think it could have anything to do with app2sd? Not sure if this would cause the issue or not, but it might be something to look into if an answer doesnt come along

[Q] After a factory reset, how does restoring apps/data play with apps2sd?

Im doing some backing up for a factory reset since im having some issues with the phone.
So I've pushed a lot of apps to the SD card, so theres info partly on my phone and partly on the sd card for these. Now, when I do the reset and use titanium to restore the apps/data, I imagine that it will remember that its both on the phone and sd card
But then, what I just do a normal apk install of an app I've pushed to sd? Apps fully install on the phone first, and then need user action to push to sd. Is it going to install the full app, or just the part that was on the phone before the reset?
I'm having trouble fully communicating what I'm thinking here, hopefully ya'll get the gist.
Slight tangent...after reading flipz's post about using titanium backup, what I'm getting out of it is that using it should be fine since I'm not changing the ROM I'm using, but the problems I'm having now (when hitting home or backing out of an app, the phone will spontaneously crash htc sense and the home screen will completely redraw as if i had rebooted) could be caused by an app i currently have, and restoring the settings might cause the problem all over again. Hope I'm reading that right.
TIA for any help!
currently ROM: fresh evo 3.1.0.1
current kernel: netarchy toastmod froyoized 3.7.6b
boo im hesitant to attempt without knowing what might happen

Decks Reloaded

OK so today my wifi went out.... Just completely went out. I tried wiping the settings and reconnecting to the Wifi point and all it does is try and authenticate, then it drops. So with a few prior bugs like this in the past, I decided to do a combo Temp Files wipe with 4.3 Smelkus MOD recovery.
EVERYTHING GOT WIPED; Go launcher is non existent, Play Store is gone, apps just magically vanished. Going into App Settings, the Symlinks are there, but the app is missing from drawer. Even all the aroma options I turned on are gone. It's basic android with no gapps. This happened to me on first install and I had to wipe my memory card and reformat. I refuse to do this again. So I am going to try and nandroid back to before the wipe.
What caused this?
In my excitement, and retardedness, I forgot to nandroid after a successful install. So it likes like I have no other choice to set EVERYTHING back up again. I'm just thankful I'm smart enough to have recurring TB backups every other day. D

Severely handicapped my OS

Hello,
I should mention I'm running the dark_hd CM9 rom, rooted S-OFF.
So earlier today I was in the bootloader and accidently hit Clear Storage. It brought up a black screen with an image of an open box and then my phone rebooted normally.. fat fingered it somehow. Oops.
Upon loading the OS it immediately asked me for my Google info and I knew something was wrong. All of my apps icons are there on the launcher screen, however none of them are installed except for the basic apps. Also, when I tried to install Titatium Backup again, it says 'Unfortunately, .. has stopped'. I tried to reinstall a few more apps and each one says 'Unfortunately...has stopped". Before I restored, I wanted to see if I could get back some of my data and make a fresh Titanium backup of it all.
I have a few apps like a a logbook program and my Heytell conversations that I would like to see if the data is still there before I do a full restore or a wipe. Is there any way I can fix this "Unfortunately" error? Also, if I do a restore, will my app data be saved or will it revert back to the info that was there when I did the backup? Thanks.

So you hit factory reset from the hboot menu? You could check /data/data and see if the settings for your apps are still there, but i doubt it. You should also check /data/app and see if the apps apk is still there. If it is there, delete it and then try reinstalling it again. If you do a backup, it will restore the data that was backed up. You can do an advanced restore and restore everything except data.

Did you have any apps moved to sdcard? As it almost sounds like that could be the case if some of the data for the phone like the launcher homescreen data is still intact but the apps were on the sdcard which would be part of storage.
Drk_hd made a CM10 build for the dinc? Mind sharing a link?

I'm sorry it was CM9. Fixed. I had CM10 on the brain as I was getting read to flash the Pons CM10 ROM. I didn't have any luck recovering any of the data so I just wiped it and flashed a new rom. I was able to run Titanium and recovery the data but I still lost some since my last backup. Thanks anyways.

[Q] My SGS3 stuck in bootloop

Hi all, i really need help here. I search through forums but still cant get any solution.
I rooted my s3 earlier today and freezing some stuff using titanium backup. It work fine until suddenly it got restart automatically. After that, i got stuck on the "Samsung" logo. I do not install any custom rom as i'm noob to all these things. I froze those apps and some bloat stuff according to some list i got from the internet.
What i can do to get my phone running back without losing any data? I forgot to back up using clockwork after i root my phone.
Please help!!!!!!

You can still backup now (if you have a custom recovery installed. if you don't, then i think there are some clockworkmod Odin flashables available, no idea where). Then when you erase, and boot up next time, use titanium to open the nandroid backup (because it can do that, as long as you have the full version, which you can just find cracked versions of), and it will add the whole nandroid backup to part of the "backed up list" in titanium. All the data should be preserved too (I don't rememebr if it also takes the cache).
and just a question to devs, is it even possible to cause boot loops by freezing bloat? I have never had such issues. I even froze my browser, the calendar, file manager, clock, and nearly every app in a clean AOSP build (did that for a benchmark once), and it hasn't bootlooped. Think there is something else? Some other factor?

I have never seen or heard freezing bloat to cause boot loops. He froze something he shouldn't have. Try Odin back to stock then re-root or leave stock. Don't do things you don't understand.
It sounds like you froze something you shouldn't have like this poster said. Before freezing in titanium always make a nandroid backup and do a quick Google search to make sure it's safe to freeze.
