Another Epic

My wife dropped her Moment yesterday and broke the screen and Sprint is telling me Asurion will have to replace it for the 100 deductible. She will be able to upgrade on Sept 1 so we will be getting her a new phone then instead. The great Devs here have made me LOVE my phone and I wonder if we should just get her an Epic but I am concerned the Dev community will disappear as new phones become available.
Thoughts?

Not yet only somE people will leave but their work is still here
And even sine of the people who levee erroll probably still work on the phone when official gb comes out

Yeah if the dev community is important to you, obviously there will be more going on with newer phones. But if she wants a keyboard and you love this phone, at least you've got a bunch of froyo roms already and will have some new gb roms in the near future.

I'd say wait for SGSII line or the new Nexus. In the mean time, just pay the nominal fee to put your Sprint account in a hold pattern, then just get a cheap pre-paid phone until one of those phones above is released.

I agree^^^^ if you love your epic hold out for the GS2 that community should be fun to begin with and you'll learn a lot more since you'll have the phone since launch day

Things change, and the tide is starting to turn.

Donating an Epic Touch to a DEV on XDA but..

The screen is cracked from the inside. The phone is in pristine condition. I was wanting to donate this to a developer with a good track record and references.
Maybe the community can pitch in with donations on a new OEM screen. What do you guys think?
I remember reading that Chris41G (or whatever his handle) is needing one. I would prefer if the DEV post in here and let us know what they plan to do with this whether it be kernel or ROM development. This isn't open to themers.
If interested in donating money post the amount and to who you recommend. I will let you guys know who gets this by tomorrow 9PM EST and can ship it the following day to that person if they PM me with their address when notified.

Whats a screen cost? Id be willing to allocate my money from the now defunct "reward for ice cream sandwich rom" thread towards a new screen when chris41g or any dedicated dev gets the phone. Small price to pay to help out the community $10

My sister is a phone tech at Sprint. I just text her and asked her if it would be trouble for her to get a replacement screen. She replaces these all the time. I'll keep you posted.

wow dude that is rough any way to cancel the card? Call the card company and tell them it got stolen. UBER might be able to help you it might be a little out of his realm but he is very trust worthy. the thread link is here:

Okay looking at the guide it doesn't seem too difficult. Will still need to follow it obviously but do you guys have a Verizon phone? Or just a cdma ST phone as a donor. With a VzW phone you can get 3G but if just looking for talk and text the ST phone will be plenty.

Easiest way to brick?

Ok I know some of you are probably wondering what type of question is this lol.. Last night I had a few drinks and dropped my phone, now I have a cracked screen at the bottom right of the phone. Called my friend (works at sprint) he said he can't swap it out just because of the screen but told me if I brick it he can swap it out, all I have to do is blame the new ota update when I come in so his manager gives the approval. So what's the fastest way to get a BLOD? Would removing the wire while running a sfhub OC do it?? I just can't live with a cracked screen ima go crazy!!!

Yeah. In the middle of an Odin update remove the cable. That should do the trick.

He said he can give me a discount on a gs3 but I'm not sure I want to make the jump. I love the phone but to leave Wimax when I have full coverage for an LTE device that probably won't see LTE for a year or two sounds dumb.. Think I'll just stick with another gs2!

"Hook up" at sprint is not equal to the "right" thing to do... I don't think he was jealous as much as he was pointing out what you are attempting to do could be considered/is fraud... I'm not passing judgment on you but perhaps if you're accident prone you may want to consider adding insurance to the line, which is the route many of us around here take... additionally no one is forcing you to live with a broken screen, replacements can be found on eBay for reasonable prices and to change it it's just 9 Phillips head screws and 3 cables to unplug/ replug... not super hard to do... lastly I hope I didn't accidentally mispell anything in this reply as I wouldn't want to feel the wrath of the grammer nazi fraudster...

Yes, I'm jealous because you lack the intelligence to figure out something so trivial, I'm also jealous because "YOUS" to broke to pay to have a screen fixed. Also....I'm jealous that you have a friend that works for sprint, actually extremely jealous. I only have a brother and two close friends that work for sprint.
How does one go about getting only one friend that works for sprint and then begin to radiate this sprint branded swag that clearly creates uncontrollable amounts of jealousy because of said friend?

"YOUR" absolutely right. Myself and others don't mind the cost of insurance going up because of false claims.
That's the problem with this world instead of holding people accountable for their actions, their stupidity is excused with acts such as these (eg. Ins cost goes up). Same concept as welfare. How many of us are ecstatic that our stolen tax dollars go to funding that?

I have insurance for as long as I've been with Sprint, which is almost ten years now and I have only claimed twice before in the past.. I don't hear Sprint *****ing about all the money they have taken throughout the years for insurance I hardly ever use. Or how about these ****ty 3g speeds they give us? I don't hear Sprint saying they would give us a credit for all the money we put in their pocket for data which is barely usable.. Some of you are too funny! I don't use roms im always stock rooted with sfhubs OC. I went back to eg30 non rooted then did all the ota's b4 I bricked it. Thanks tho!
