Maybe this has been addressed. But I switch between sense and launcher pro sometimes. I have all my widgets on both launchers, does having widgets on both cause more of a battery drain ? or affect it in any way ? Should you only have widgets on one launcher at a time ?
Anyone ? Has anyone noticed a problem
Shouldnt cause excessive drain because the launchers wouldn't be running at the same time. And if they do, only one will be updating. So if you had twitter on both, but you are currently using launcherpro, only launcherpro's twitter widget will be updating. As soon as you switch to Sense, you'll have to either manually update for it to catch up, or just wait for the autosync.

Using weather and toggle widgets and have to wonder if it is causing part of my battery life degradation. I use LauncherPro and love the way my device is setup but really want to use the stock HTC clock and weather. Is that possible? How?
It's not possible to use Sense widgets outside of Rosie, the Sense launcher. There are some copycat widgets out there, but you can't use the real HTC ones.

Thanks...is there a way to modify the Sense launcher to look like LauncherPro? Cant stand the stock dock and like the ability to launch my five favorites from any screen.
No problem. You can install themes depending on the ROM you're using. But you're probably better off using LauncherPro and widgets that take the place of Sense widgets.

Using Baked Snack 1.8. Is it odd to think that the widgets I mentioned good causing battery drain, especially opposed to the stock Clock/Weather or am I dreaming?
Is there a way to edit the stock HTC dock?
not easily. If you are familiar with creating actual themes and modifying the framework apks then yes. if not then i would look for an existing theme that makes the dock look closer to how you want.
As stated above you are better off looking for replacement widgets and using LP.
the widgets would be causing battery drain but it shoudl be very easy to test ... remove them for a day or 2 and compare.
I'm trying out a new launcher (ZEAM) and it looks like HTC Sense still stays open in the background.. how do I get rid of it completely? I don't want 2 launchers running..
Also - anyway to use the HTC Widgets on Zeam? I love the Calendar widget and the weather/clock one

Here is calkulins flashable zip that will completely remove HTC sense from your phone. This will also remove all sense widgets I believe. Also, I have never used Zeam launcher, but I would speculate that you can't use HTC sense widgets on it (at least you cant with launcher pro or adw launcher). They only work with sense. There are quite a few other widgets out there though that look very similar to HTC's widgets.

Also here is a link to calk's page that all sorts of mods/tweaks/goodies and such. Useful bookmark. They work on pretty much any sense rom.

I know that I can use another launcher but I really prefer the Sense look and widgets
Not without installing an third part launcher I think. But you will have that option i adw launcher and launcher Pro that I know off.
no way, its almost impossible :S
hello, just wondering if having multiple launchers with apps / widgets etc will drain battery or slow phone down? if i am in one launcher and using wifi, then go to another launcher without switching wifi off will it still be running in background somewhere??
Multiple launchers can cause phone slowdown and in turn, use more battery. Why do you need multiple launchers? If you don't like sense flash a new ROM and be done with sense crap

not too sure, i am on a cyanogen nightly, and facied having different home screens, without having to change the theme or rom and then set my settings up. i think cyanogen has adw or something, then go launcher is supposed to be great and holo launcher offered something else (this is going from the descriptions... i have downlaoded them, but not configured yet as thought would ask the above question first...
I've used Holo launcher beforw and I think its pretty good, decent customization options & not resource heavy. Never used Go Launcher before, so can't really comment. CM uses ADW which, personally, I believe is one of the best launchers out there (although I prefer Zeam; uses less battery power and is slightly quicker).

If you mean will wifi still be running, then yes, it should be. It should only switch off if you tell it to.
You can see some launchers on my site if you'd like to get some ideas of how they look.
I use MIUI roms which come with the MiHome Launcher, which is beautifully smooth. (I prefer the 3D Cube animation style.)
I also run Wave Launcher which is designed to run over the top of all other launchers or apps. I totally recommend it for any-screen-you-are-on, quick shortcut convenience.
I don't experience any slow down or battery drain.
Of course the more animations, and other moving eye candy you have, the more work the CPU has to do (CPU cycles). The more work the CPU has to do - the more it uses the battery.
The same applies to live wallpaper, GPS, watching video, keeping the screen on, etc.
Hello, I was planning on changing the launcher on my HOX but all the launchers I've tried seem to be lagging when switching panels on the home screen(jittery animation when switching panels). The launchers I've tried were:
Nova Launcher
Apex Launcher
Go Launcher EX
Holo Launcher
Zeam Launcher
The only launcher that runs smoothly is the stock Sense one but I want a launcher with a scrollable dock! I've googled this and all the results were about lag on the Sense launcher, which I have no problems with. I doubt that my phone's hardware can't handle a launcher. Any ideas as to what causes this problem or a fix?

The HOX has some incredible hardware. So its surely not the hardware.I myself used the pro version of apex launcher for some time and it works smooth. I think you have a lot of background apps running. Disable some background apps.. that will free some memory.

How much RAM do I have to have free for it to run smoothly? I Currently have 300 megabyte free worth of ram and it's still lagging! The only running apps (according to the task manager) are:
Android core apps
Apex launcher
BetterBatteryStats
Battery Widget
Package Access Helper
FlexNet
SmartcardService.
Also, whenever I end the processes of some apps (like settings, dropbox, calendar and some others), they re-open themselves a few minutes later, what's up with that?
Update:
Oh, I doubt that it's memory related, the menu screen switching is super smooth, if it was RAM related it would be affected too
Anyone?
If menu screen is working smoothly then it's an app problem. Try reducing the number of widgets you have kept on each screen and see if that helps.

Funny thing is, there are no widgets on any of the panels, is there by any chance that I have a faulty hardware? (which still sounds kind of impossible since the Sense launcher runs smoothly)
Same here with my HOX+. Sense runs smooth, but there are too many limitations, so I run Apex.
I've only one widget on the screen. I think, it's a Apex problem.
