With this phone coming out in probably less then a month, already being on T-Mobiles website, having the same specs as a Desire HD, even a video on cnet showing the phone (http://www.tmonews.com/2010/10/mytouch-hd-makes-an-appearance/), is it time for a MyTouch section yet?
Thanks
...waits for other people to chime in....
Yes please. myTouch HD/4g will be out next week, time to have its own section. Been hitting the "Touch HD" section by mistake all the time.

i just joimed these forums after lurking around for the past 5 months. i dont have an android phone as they came out after i signed my tmo contract, but am planning on a slide or vibrant in august . anywayz, i was just wondering if everything in the android hacking section will work on any rooted phone.
Not in the Mytouch 3G slide hacking section, that is for the Mytouch slide.
Each phone on xda should have its own hacking/development section.
so nothing in the general android development and hacking will work on the slide?
some of the general android hacks may work on the slide but for the most part i stay in here, every now and then you may see something in that forum to try but please make sure it is not a new SPL or Radio, and always make a backup first
I tried to think of something different, as a topic, to start some dialog. I'm curious as to how many people were introduced to xda by, like let's say engadget or somewhere else.
The site I was frequenting before here, and got tipped off to xda was sdx. Before that was zephie (prolly spelled his nick wrong) and the site he used to hang at, midnight something. Before that, samsung moment forum. Before that, google... Looking up info about rooting my first android phone, the samsung moment after it came out last fall.

Good topic; better than the lets sue sprint and htc and live wallpapers are murdering your battery life, topics.
I joined a few forums after switching from the iphone 3gs to evo when it came out. Most links on other forums seemed to point to xda and it seemed to me that xda was usually, if not always the source for the latest news and happenings for android and the evo, so I set up shop here with the vinyl skins ideas (See sig).
I was here for a long time..welll 2 yrs, i didnt become active until recently when i got my evo. Before that i was not active at these types of forums..i was into webhosting...too much history to type..

Jk. I was on the android comm forums at one pt.
Even then id frequent these boards. Just didn't have an acc..
I have used xda forums for basically everything electronic since 2008. Everyone on all the forums are pretty knowledgeable for the most parts. And the ones that are not, sure make me laugh. Just a hobby for me. Homebrewed my Wii,flashed my xbox360's, rooted the evo, networked my home, and am an avid visitor of nzb matrix. Official electronic's junky here.

I found XDA when i got my T-Mobile dash aka HTC Excalibur was directed here through howardforums. Ode to the days of installing hacked windows mobile 6.5 roms I even have the phone still and its running a custom 3VO rom haha http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=523718
precentral :-/ i kinda miss that lil bugger
Well, before here I was on SDX thanks to my Samsung Moment, and then when the EVO came out, I hit up Google, and remembered seeing on a couple of tech blogs about how the EVO had been already rooted before release thanks to the Google I/O event, and followed the links to here.
Needless to say, I am far from disappointed.

Well being a longtime WinMo phone owner I was tipped off to this website years and years ago, so I was usually in between XDA and ppcgeeks.com, and before that the grand daddy of them all howardforums

I just frequent the lounge now. The only sections over there that get any action, or most of it, is the apple section and the Verizon section.
Freaking Verizon forum can easily have 500+ people in it...daily!
I had the iPhone 3GS so I was on apple-related sites/forums a lot. When I got tired of that nonsensical device and decided on the EVO, I heard about xda through various tech blogs, and decided to join in the fun... haven't looked back since.

I was sick of WinMo with my Sprint Vogue so I did some searching on the interwebs and found out about dzo and then xda. Been frequenting ever since but I tend to lurk even though I have an account

I think I came across xda randomly Googling stuff after I got my G1 last summer. I wasn't very active other than flashing Cyanogen roms. Since getting the EVO I'm on here constantly. When I got the G1, most that could be learned about the phone, had already. With the EVO, there's so much new development going on. Plus, its nice to try and use what I've learned to help someone out. Considering xda has done a great job helping me. A lot of us know that "uh oh, did I just brick my phone?" feeling.

I've been seeing around specs for the Supersonic saying it has GSM bands. I know the EVO 4G from Sprint does not have GSM bands so the question is does this Supersonic World phone exist and how could I order one?????

Wow... you are just as flawed in responding as he is in ignorance. He never had any doubt about the names / codenames. His question was with regard to a GSM version. TP2 did this so it isn't crazy to ask the question.
But if you had taken the time to read (instead of prepping your flame), you would have noticed that he used EVO and supersonic in the same post... so I am sure he already knows how code names work.

i am here to request a forum for the lg optimus V. though it may not be a next generation super phone... it runs on virgin mobile for 25$ a month unlimited data. with no cap. not yet atleast. plus the phone is 150$. beats the samsung intercept, which is full of bugs.
its clocked to 600mhz...but has been clocked to 8xxmhz and it capable of runnin some heavy graphics games. the phone is showing promise.
with xda's help, this could be the best prepaid android phone you can get. thank you for your consideration.
I agree the phone has potential.
+1 Hands down the BEST pre-paid phone I have EVER owned or used! I think this is only a sign of better things to come people. Just put CM7 on my V last night and am VERY pleased soo far.. And for $150?? I thought I was robbing the Radio Shack!
bump for development.
overclock kernals, data throttle bypassing, ports of CM7.... the optimus v would fit in just fine here in xda. and thnk of what it could be pushed to do with the support of the pros here at xda.
BUMP for a dedicated forum.
Definitely want this as well, I'm now in love. Found out about this phone yesterday, bought it and canceled service with Sprint.
By far the best in its class. By that meaning the pre-paid, mid-range class. Still have yet to root it due to time but going to next week. Looking to OC it as well.
just rooted my first one last night! easy as pie. run superoneclick... then run z4root. done.
so...i put it thru some tests...
i'm thinkin no way it can angry birds without lag. 600mhz? no lag.
i'm thinkin no possible way it can run fruit ninja... it does. flawlessly.
so...it definately cant do a video call with assistance from the vainworks stand. no way. if you got wifi...you can do it. tested.
i dunno whats up with that little 600mhz processor but its runnin top notch. i'm very impressed. its runnin step for step with my g2.
I'm also for creating a separate forum for Optimus V. I've owned one for 2 weeks now and it is, by far, the best phone I've had to date.
Dedicated Forum!
+1 one for dedicated forum! This phone deserves it.
I also vote for a Optimus V forum.
+1, count me in.
I have asked for a optimus one / optimus V merge.
Now optimus V has a new android developing forum in our Optimus One section.

Hey guys, I just got the Samsung Vibrant not too long ago than a couple of weeks later, T-Mobile release the Samsung Galaxy S 4G aka Vibrant 4G. I was telling myself, I should of wait a bit longer to get the SGS 4g. But after researching the SGS 4g. I came to found out that that it replace the internal 16gb memory for a front face camera and have 4g enable. I was reading on one of the forum stating that the org Vibrant and the Galaxy s 4g are very identical/ the same (CPU/GPU, hardware, etc) and that the org Vibrant can get 4g by updating to Android 2.2 or better which Samsung is holding back on us Vibrant user.
Now, my question is... How can I get the Android 2.2/2.3 update? So I can enable 4G....
4G is controlled by the hardware, not the software.

You're new around here so you probably don't know better yet. Before posting topics, it's probably a good idea to search first. The subject of your post has been discussed at length much before. I'd be surprised if you didn't find the answer(s) you're looking for.
Also 2.2 has been out for a while.
