PC to Mobile (Mobile to PC) Video Calling? - EVO 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I miss Fring when it had Skype, any other apps out there?

I use iMovicha. I haven't had any issues with it.

qik now has a desktop app for videocalling but they still have that stupid $5 a month charge for better video chat

Where is this desktop app? I never can find it. Qik in Touch still only does one way streaming from what I can tell.

I was only able to find the Qik in Touch also. The one way streaming is a bummer and it is pretty useless to me because I think you need to login on the computer to see what your are streaming. Why would I give someone else my username and password so they can watch me.
Didn't hear anything about a separate app, wish that Skype would add video chat sometime soon.

The quality isn't perfect, but iMovicha is the only one that works for now.

Youtube on Excalibur. Does it really work?

Hi everybody. I just want to know if I can actually watch Youtube videos on Excalibur or it's an urban legend?
I'm using Ricky's v24 no opera version and I tried to follow the definitive guide (well, not so definitive) to watch Youtube videos (found in this forum using the search), I also tried Htc Streaming Media (a .cab file someone posted here) and none of them worked.
I use Wi-fi to navigate most of the time, since I don't have a data plan. My router has no blocking stuff (I disabled all for testing purposes) and I'm using Internet Explorer to browse m.youtube.com, but so far I got nothing but a "failed to find network" from htc streaming media.
So.... I really don't know what to do.
If anyone does, please, share your knowledge with me. Thanks in advance.
Easiest way is to use Skyfire it's free, also i use CorePlayer to stream of mobile YouTube.

I just posted a TCPMP player in this forum with all the plugins needed to play youtube and google video, search for that and youre good to go
Or you can always use Kinoma Free play... I been using this for a while and it is promising so far.

Dude... skyfire is the one.... How come such a software is not a hit? It's almost perfect.... I'm curious about it. I'll try to search for it later, but so far... what a great browser! the best experience I ever had. I wanna say thank you all, for all suggestions posted here, but I'll keep with skyfire.
I use skyfire, and it plays the youtubr videos, but without sound.. any idea?
I use a Program called Vtap. The Program is small and simple it searches youtube videos, myspace videos and more and streams without any problems. If you would like to give it a shot go to http://www.smartphonefreeware.org/download/vtap-0.143

I´ve tried TCMP and Kinoma before creating this post... both unsucessful, but Skyfire is the one.
But again, thank you all for your suggestions.

If that floats your boat. Skyfire is a memory hog, it has over heating issues (battery and processor) it will be ad supported (as soon as it is out of beta testing) so look forward to clicking through an ad every page click... na, not worth it to me.
Vtap
I use Vtap by Veevo. It not only shows YouTube but tons of other video on the web. Plays great!

I have to agree with Bupahs... TCPMP is definitely the way to go (if you aren't using Skyfire w/ a high-speed connection). I have yet to experience a player with more crisp, clearer playback than TCPMP. I found that the trick is you have to access the Desktop version of YouTube instead of the mobile version. The mobile version won't allow you to use TCPMP, but the other version will. How can you tell the difference between the two, you may ask? The mobile version will use a black background, but the PC (Desktop) version looks identical to the one you're used to.
I installed HTC Streaming Media and I access my browser through the Java application that should be on your phone (it came with mine) and go to youtube and I'm able to watch videos perfectly fine.

+1 .
Mobile Internet
Since the Excalibur doesn't support 3G, it is likely that YouTube will only reliably work over WiFi, because GPRS is too slow to stream the videos.
hi, i recently installed opera mobile 10 and core player to my p51, could any one tell me how to make opera to play youtube (or any other websites if able) videos with core player, my windows IE browser plays youtube videos with core player, but that browser sux bc its slow and it sux
Can you try skyfire, it's a good browser with native support for flash, but without wifi is too slow.
For the download search it with google, it's freeware

if one is interested only in youtube, you can use the specific application released by Google

YouTube, Twitter, Netflix demoed

Looks pretty friggen good. This is just part of the news with the announcement of the final tools being available.
They took an interesting route with YouTube. You use the browser to find the video and then it pops up a YouTube plugin/app automatically that plays the video.
You can see the other ones in action here (scroll down a bit).
It looks ok.
Don't see what's so interesting about youtube, I thought every OS except WM did that?

There really isn't anything interesting other than it's there. People were questioning it and saying it wouldn't come because it hadn't been shown off yet. It was one of the knocks on WP7 in the reviews of the preview/dev release.

I do too but it doesn't launch when I tap a video on a web page, I have to launch it separately and enter something to view it. In web pages I just have built-in Flash videos, which are very awkward to control. I very much prever external viewing.

True this would probably be alot more efficient.
Btw, I read somewhere in an RSS feed I can't easily locate that it's not a YouTube app, the browser simply launches videos in the video player. Using iPhone now I totally don't get what the fuss is about flash support as ios handles most videos on the web, not just YouTube. Maybe if I played flash games I would miss something.

I meant the clicking on a video in your browser part.
When I click a link mine asks:
Browser
Youtube
Skyfire
And
Would you like to set a default?
What about videos that aren't from YouTube?
Then youtube doesn't show up in the list.
And you have to watch the video in the browser?
Nope, I can chose how I would like to view it.

Playing video from the BBC Mobile site

I'm trying to watch videos from the BBC mobile sports site http://www.bbc.co.uk/sportmobile on my HOX but when I load the page I'm getting the message "Sorry your phone is not compatible to play media from this website"
Any suggestions on how I fix this?
Yep, it won't work in the built in browser (nor in Chrome).
However, it works fine in Dolphin Browser HD and Opera Mobile, both free in the market.

Try enabling the flash player, not sure if that would make a difference.

Spot on, I enabled the flash player (which I had completely overlooked) and it works fine. Any idea why this is disabled by default? Is it to conserve the battery?

Mobile YouTube doesn't load.

Can someone please check if YouTube mobile page loads on stock or any other browser? My phone for about a couple of days doesn't load YouTube mobile page and embedded videos don't show up on other sites. For example can you check here if videos appear for you?

Are you sure you are talking about browser and not the app? I can't understand how this is happening only to me. My s3 also has the same problem so it isn't related to M8.

Yes sir. Hence why I said "all", I tested Youtube mobile and both stock browser and google chrome browser. I can view videos from all sources. I also tested with the link you showed, it plays fine.
