+1 .
Mobile Internet
Since the Excalibur doesn't support 3G, it is likely that YouTube will only reliably work over WiFi, because GPRS is too slow to stream the videos.
hi, i recently installed opera mobile 10 and core player to my p51, could any one tell me how to make opera to play youtube (or any other websites if able) videos with core player, my windows IE browser plays youtube videos with core player, but that browser sux bc its slow and it sux
Can you try skyfire, it's a good browser with native support for flash, but without wifi is too slow.
For the download search it with google, it's freeware

I don't know if this has been asked before but is it possible to watch You Tube videos on Window Mobile 6. Apple just released a statement that the new iPhone will work wth You Tube.
www.m.youtube.com is the mobile youtube site.. also if you install Opera web browser and the latest flash player, you cant watch the videos on the normal youtube site... that's what I do.

Do you mean CAN?
yes I mean CAN .. lol
Hi everybody. I just want to know if I can actually watch Youtube videos on Excalibur or it's an urban legend?
I'm using Ricky's v24 no opera version and I tried to follow the definitive guide (well, not so definitive) to watch Youtube videos (found in this forum using the search), I also tried Htc Streaming Media (a .cab file someone posted here) and none of them worked.
I use Wi-fi to navigate most of the time, since I don't have a data plan. My router has no blocking stuff (I disabled all for testing purposes) and I'm using Internet Explorer to browse m.youtube.com, but so far I got nothing but a "failed to find network" from htc streaming media.
So.... I really don't know what to do.
If anyone does, please, share your knowledge with me. Thanks in advance.
Easiest way is to use Skyfire it's free, also i use CorePlayer to stream of mobile YouTube.

Or you can always use Kinoma Free play... I been using this for a while and it is promising so far.

Dude... skyfire is the one.... How come such a software is not a hit? It's almost perfect.... I'm curious about it. I'll try to search for it later, but so far... what a great browser! the best experience I ever had. I wanna say thank you all, for all suggestions posted here, but I'll keep with skyfire.
I use skyfire, and it plays the youtubr videos, but without sound.. any idea?
I use a Program called Vtap. The Program is small and simple it searches youtube videos, myspace videos and more and streams without any problems. If you would like to give it a shot go to http://www.smartphonefreeware.org/download/vtap-0.143

I´ve tried TCMP and Kinoma before creating this post... both unsucessful, but Skyfire is the one.
But again, thank you all for your suggestions.

If that floats your boat. Skyfire is a memory hog, it has over heating issues (battery and processor) it will be ad supported (as soon as it is out of beta testing) so look forward to clicking through an ad every page click... na, not worth it to me.
Vtap
I use Vtap by Veevo. It not only shows YouTube but tons of other video on the web. Plays great!

I have to agree with Bupahs... TCPMP is definitely the way to go (if you aren't using Skyfire w/ a high-speed connection). I have yet to experience a player with more crisp, clearer playback than TCPMP. I found that the trick is you have to access the Desktop version of YouTube instead of the mobile version. The mobile version won't allow you to use TCPMP, but the other version will. How can you tell the difference between the two, you may ask? The mobile version will use a black background, but the PC (Desktop) version looks identical to the one you're used to.
I installed HTC Streaming Media and I access my browser through the Java application that should be on your phone (it came with mine) and go to youtube and I'm able to watch videos perfectly fine.

You want help? Give us more info...
* What are you using to watch youtube videos? Somebody tell me if I´m wrong but, you can´t watch youtube videos with the rom only. You need an app to do that.
Here are some...
1 - Skyfire
2 - Youtube.cab - It lags a lot...
3 - Coreplayer - I use this one!
* What connection are you using? Wi-fi?
Sometimes connection is too slow to stream the video.
So... give us more info so you can get a better help....
Regards.
Thanks Joe, I just mentioned the Rom because I thought it might have something to do with it. I'm using wi-fi and I'm loading video using the youtube program from google, I'm assuming that's the youtube.cab ? I've been test playing the same video and it seems like the video freezes briefly at around the same times everytime. Skyfire seems to be working but the screen goes blank momentarily throughout a viewing. Coreplayer, I haven't tried but I'm assuming clicking a link on youtube would open up the player to play a video? I'm hoping there's a better way because that sounds more memory intensive. Thanks in advance for whatever help I can get.
Okay the YouTube official app is a sham and judders even on a Kaiser with extra grunt, skyfire is going though a server so all depends on that, CorePlayer will play anything thrown @ it, RTSP of YouTube is good quality... Not exactly memory intensive

I think you should give CorePlayer a try... the youtube.cab (from m.youtube.com) sucks. If you are going to try CorePlayer, it has its own youtube search engine built in. You do not search using a browser, you do it using CorePlayer.
I hope it helps.
Regards.

Got it. Thank you for your quick reply
thanks guys good to know youtube cab is the problem. I just wanted to know it wasn't me causing it
I'm using CorePlayer, when I play a .flv file that I've downloaded from youtube. The sound is ok,but the videos still so lagging. So,what should I do ?
opera mobile 10 is sucks. iE-is slow, firefox not working, wich is the best? for wotching videos on facebook or in vkontakte.ru??
try skyfire - m.skyfire.com
beware though, dash wasn't meant to be a "video" phone.
Frostmoon is correct, remember you are dealing with a 3+ year phone...that in phone years is more than 10...so don't ask too much of the dash...
since when opera 10 is able to view fb / youtube videos? there is no working flashplayer yet for windows mobile platform that can run flashvideos in embedded
uhhh. the only browser i know that supports any in browser flash is skyfire...

Skyfire is the man... but be aware that you´ll be installing a portable heater along with skyfire..
For me the best choice to watch youtube videos is CorePlayer. And the best choice to browse the web is Opera Mini 5.
I would say that if skyfire didn´t have this heating side effect, it would be my choice to web + youtube.

I have to agree with Frostmoon - Skyfire is the best for the Dash/Excalibur. It displays web pages exactly as they appear on your PC complete with embedded flash. I love watching highlights on ESPN.com It does youtube also but you are better off going to m.youtube.com and downloading the app to your dash - it works similar to Ipone's youtube app.
joeskull I haven't noticed the heating effect, but I'm not overclocking..Haven't tried opera 5 or coreplayer, will try them and report back later
I would avoid Opera Mini 5 beta for now - it does look very nice and is very fast but has a major bug when entering text in the address field - the numeric keypad can't be turned off! This has been reported with other phone models (iPAQ 514, Dash 3G, Samsung i607 Blackjack, etc.) on Opera Mini's forums with no fix currently available.
Basically Opera Mini 5 beta is unusable on the Dash/Excalibur.
I'm trying to watch videos from the BBC mobile sports site http://www.bbc.co.uk/sportmobile on my HOX but when I load the page I'm getting the message "Sorry your phone is not compatible to play media from this website"
Any suggestions on how I fix this?
Yep, it won't work in the built in browser (nor in Chrome).
However, it works fine in Dolphin Browser HD and Opera Mobile, both free in the market.

Try enabling the flash player, not sure if that would make a difference.

Spot on, I enabled the flash player (which I had completely overlooked) and it works fine. Any idea why this is disabled by default? Is it to conserve the battery?
