[Q] a new update from T-Mobile for the slide is it Froyo? - myTouch 3G Slide Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

so today i just got the data plan on my slide
its pretty sweet and what not, i just recently got a notification saying
"T-mobile update service-
new firmware is avalible"
now im wondering
is this froyo?
should i update?
im not rooted because im a little panzy about rooting my phone, since it looks really hard
but anyways im asking what is this update?

it's most likely the last update that is already here 1.35 which is not froyo just pretty much a patch update for a few things.

Questions on T-Mobile Stock Froyo: Please Read

1) How do you root the stock 2.2 Update?
2) Will SetCPU work on it?
2.2 ota is not out yet and you can't root it cause you have to downgrade to an engineering rom to root and then flash a pre rooted rom,I assume devs will release a flashable rom of 2.2 soon after the official release and we will probably have a stable aosp rom before the official release so I'm really no stressin it.
Dont be a tard and post in the right section.

That's very nice of you to do so. I hope you don't have to wait too long. The update with sense UI might be a long time. Maybe early fall...
i would love to ave a foyo based sense rom, i really like sense and i am not really sure why but i doubt it will be here any time soon

3g speed problems

I'm still a little bit new to XDA so I don't know if this has been asked. I'm experiencing very slow 3g speeds on my Evo 4g Nd I was wondering if there is a way to fix it. I'm not rooted if that matters.

Try this method http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=922978&highlight=speed+fix, worked wonders for me

To the op, I'm with Blake, why the hell not? Gets to rooting!!
@shonmac11: Go HERE it will explain step by step how to root your phone, nandroid backup, flash a rom, and any other question you have. Remember, if you root your can always UNROOT if you need to for some reason and it's relatively simple too.

From what we have all learned, its a nationwide problem that towers are being overcrowded, and sprint is throttling those towers to keep them from breaking down.

I don't have a computer at the time so I have to wait. At the moment I can only apply a temporary root with z4root.

I doubt anyone is even going to acknowledge this thread cuz there are already so many concerning this very subject.
Short answer - Stock, unrooted, s-on EVO GB cannot be rooted yet.

There's so many of these threads, you honestly don't even have to search. Just read a little bit, you'll see the questions answered 4 other times, in each section.

Yes, the XDA app does have a search feature. When you are on the main forum page, (not in a thread) hit the "More" button near the top right of the screen.

OTA GB isn't rootable yet. If you want GB and a root, you'd need a new ROM. There are ROMs with Sense if you like the stock ROM.
I think that there is a version of the GB stock ROM that is rooted somewhere on XDA.

I think you should add another option to the poll: "You're rooted and have had some form of 2.3 since December". I think that's going to boost responses.

"has anyone ever been so far" is an internet meme, look it up guys, he's not having a stroke!
Yes, I got the update last night. And it botched my phone. android.process.acore continually crashes, and as this contains contacts it renders the phone and messaging apps useless - I can receive calls and reply to texts if I'm lucky but I can't make a call or write a new text. I've contacted HTC support but I'm not holding out for any reply other than "hard reset" - which is not acceptable.
