I installed cyanogen 6 on the mytouch slide but I want to install the stock mytouch slide calling application.
1. Where would I find the APK?
2. Just open it with package installer and that's it?
I'm not sure if the stock dialer would work on cyanogen since it may require HTC Sense to work. I'm sure someone here has tried it and could better help you than I could.
But it wouldn't be a simple app install. Since the dialer is a system app, you need to do the installation using adb from your computer on the Slide.
You could always get one of ChiefzReloaded's ROMs and extract the Dialer apk and see if it works. Just back up the old one before trying it out.
Dude, you have to be the most impatient person on these boards. You already have a thread about the exact same thing. You got your answer man. Its not possible at the moment.

I'm sure somehow this will offend you, or offend someone else for some reason, but did you try searching? There are several threads and posts showing you how to do it.
No, I don't get offended. Don't even worry about it. Yes, I will do some more searches.

there are at least two ways that I know of. U can use ADB to remove them while your phone is in recovery mode or u can use Titanium back to uninstall just about any app.

Thank you, I will try this.
I just searched and came up with nothing.

rm -r /system/app/whateverthenameoftheapkis.apk
rm -r /system/app/whateverthenameoftheapkis.odex
In adb it would be
adb remount
adb shell
# rm -r /system/app/whateverthenameoftheapkis.apk
# rm -r /system/app/whateverthenameoftheapkis.odex
You could also use Root Explorer (or Android Mate, or SU File Manager), and go to /System/App, or use Titanium Backup, and delete that way. Be aware though, deleting the wrong things could seriously bork your install, causing you to need to relash.
Different ROMs have different methods. For example, is your ROM de-odexed? Are all apps stored in /system/app? I'm working on a script that can remove bloatware. Just trying to iron out the kinks.

I tried getting Root Explorer from a friend, but it wouldn't install.
I can't order from the Market any paid apps because I don't remember credit card info, when will they support paypal or add to your bill?
None of these apps are under system/app
Titanium Backup doesn't even work... I say Force Delete and then it says it will restart my phone twice and then it restarts it and it will sit at that screen where like your getting a update for 10 minutes then I click the power button and it says E: can't find signature or somethin' like that, so I select restart and I'm back to square one...
I am running the stock ROM.

I hope this thread is a joke? and it should be in general.
Use adb and use pm uninstall.
Or...more simple than anything... grab titanium backup and just pick and choose ANY apps you want to get rid off without doing any extra steps...

Ok...I must be retarded...but I can't figure out how to delete protected apps "bloat ware" using the free version of TI backup
Posted from my HTC Vision via XDA App
I really think you need to do some reading and learning before you start jumping into this. From ur posts u obviously have no idea what you are doing and need to know before you ruin your phone. Apps arent just labeled as you see them in the phone. If u can't figure out how to delete the stock apps you don't want there's no was your goining to figure out witch apps are witch in the system folder. And if you delete the wrong one ur effd. No offence or anything just read up and take notes then jump into it. oh ya post in the rite section
No offense taken. Still learning. Google is my friend I figured it out
That's why I love this community...lots to learn and always to better my knowledge and of course lots of helpful people.

What I did...was in TI Free...hit the "problems" button and it will ask if you want to load busy box...
Do it
Then it will list all your apps
Find the one you want to delete...press and hold
It will pop up a window and on the end of that window list there is a option to force uninstall.
That's how I got rid of a few apps I didn't want or need and my phone is running great.
But as the guy above said...be careful.
Good luck

Yeah, technically, whoever you downloaded that swype package from, unless it was swype's site, is distributing it illegally, since it's a closed source and licensed app. The only ROM it is distributed in here is the rooted stock ROM that came with swype, since it's licensed for that.

I honestly don't know, sorry. I never really use swype, I've only interacted with it once or twice, I prefer Latin IME. I didn't know they came in different themes. If it expired, I would assume it was the beta, since the one in the stock ROM doesn't expire, I don't think.

Not happening...ever. The ARM6 just isn't up to the task, you need, at minimum, an ARM7. Yes, you can oc and it might be able to run flash at 806MHz or above but since flash isn't written correctly for the ARM6 - no amount of overclocking will help.
Maybe some one will make an emulator or rewrite flash (very daunting) to work for this processor. The iPhone has an app/emulator for flash so what are we waiting for?
Structure not Speed.
I wish we'd get at least Flash lite. damn ota will never come.
If I had a nickel for every time someone posted without searching.

Hmm, that's strange. I installed that apk and it force closes whenever I try to play any flash videos. I'm using CM 6.1.1. I don't see why this would be any different than on the cyanoginger...Is Cyanoginger sense based or something? Can someone else confirm whether or not this works on cyanoginger before I flash the new rom?

If you read the post, or even the file name of the apk, you would have seen that it is for android 2.1. CM6.1.1 is based off of froyo, version 2.2, it has something to do with the browser not accepting the plugin or something rather. It will work if you go back to cm5 but I doubt you want to do that
I've tried that apk on many roms and it only works on 2.1 roms. I need a version that will run on 2.2 roms such as CM6.1.1 or Cyanoginger. I've searched and tried a few different files but they either won't install or force close browser when loading flash content. I know it can run on the slide because it ran on 2.1 without a problem so you can't tell me the processor can't run it, sorry. Any help is appreciated, if you can only respond negatively please just hit the back button. Thank you.

I'm not trying to be negative, I'm just saying, the APK says it only works on 2.1, which is why it's not working on 2.2 for you. There is only a 2.1 flash apk out there. When I said our processor can't handle it, I was talking about full flash 10.1, which was only coded to work on armv7 devices. We can run flash lite, which is what comes bundled with our phones, but no one has been able to get that app to work on 2.2 yet, so it only works on 2.1. I don't consider it a huge loss personally, since most video sites have mobile versions with 3gpp streaming for mobile devices. Something in the browser was changed between 2.1 and 2.2 which makes flash lite not work.
ok now i just rooted my dads MyTouch slide and of course it doesnt have the original apks. When i rooted my Lg G2x i came across a forum about getting the original apps through ROM Manager or another program. I did it, and now i forgot how i did it and what programit was and i cant seem to get them on the the MyTouch. If you could help with any info i would greatly appreciate it!

Go to www.beta.swype.com and register as a beta user. That's all you need to do.

Swype works fine on Gingerbread, its what I use.
If the Swype APK is pulled from another ROM, it might be the wrong version, and not compatible with GB. Easiest way to get Swype is to just sign up at the Swype beta website like the previous response stated. Then it will send the installer to your phone, which will install Swype, and you will be good to go.
Tanks guys worked great although it took a while for the email to come
