can anyone tell me how to install CM6 after new 2.2 root

Can someone help me install CM6 on my new rooted 2.2 evo.
I keep getting that hboot error on status 7.
I read that u have to change the hboot from 76 to 79, something like that.
Can anyone tell me what to do next??..what instructions do i have to follow, if anyone can write it step by step, i would greatly appreciate it...thanks
That root method uses Unrevoked which doesn't unlock Nand. You'll need to use toast's part 2 or Simple Root to get Nand unlocked. Hope this helps.
[EDIT] I'm assuming you meant you had the Froyo OTA and used regaw's downgrade method.

Inhis step to downgrade he tells you how to use unrevoked forever to fully root amd unlock..

Did you mean Bootloader or recovery? I rooted with unrevoked but it only did half a job and left me with S-off, no recovery and no superuser access. IF you mean recovery just find a flashable recovery in PC36IMG.zip format and flash that. Then install superuser from the market and install busybox from within Titanium backup.

[Q] OTA updates after Custom ROMS

Hey guys,
This probably isn't just for DHD users but seeing as thats what im using i'll post it here!
So a while back i went through the custom ROM phase. I am by no means an expert in this area, im just able to follow instructions!
I rooted with visionary and went radio-off with the one click method (My phone was on 1.32). I gave a few ROMS a go and just preferred stock battery life etc so restored the stock ROM from my clockwork recovery back-up.
My question is how do i get my phone back to the state where it will receive official OTA updates from HTC (I've read that they wont work once you've done the S-off/radio-off procedure).
If its not possible to get it back to this state then what options do i have for getting official updates (say whenever HTC push the 2.3.3 ROM!)
Thanks Guys
easy way , run ruu updater utility for your phone but you loose all data and settings
Unroot it and install stock rom. You should be able to get total updates then

Yep, that's the guide to follow
That's the one. Use 1.32.405.6 RUU. Then you must turn your phone S-ON, you can follow the instructions in my radio s-off tool thread to do that.
Is this correct that if you root and have S-OFF you won't receive updates? I asked that question at the time of rooting and was told that I would still get updates?
The only reason I rooted was to get Adfree working and get other such apps for rooted devices.
My Rom is the 1.32.405.6 as I bought the DHD all I have done is root with Visionary and got S-OFF.

im in the same boat. wouldn't mind leaving my phone as is if id still recieve updates despite the root and s-off!
S-OFF does not disable OTA updates, but root does.

Oh so whenever there's an OTA available I can just unroot the phone? Or is it a little more complicated?!

I used the S-OFF tool and Visionary temp root then perm root. How would we go about restoring everything when it comes to being able to get the 2.3 update?
Kind of wish I didn't root now as I was told the oppisite that S-OFF and rooting wouldn't effect getting updates.
Edit: I just used attempt unroot with Visionary, the DHD rebooted and I used root checker from the market and it says I don't have root now. Would this be sufficient to get updates now do you think?
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
Yep, that should be alright. If the OTA does not want to install, you can just flash HTC RUU and the issue will be fixed. You will get a notification about the OTA anyway, so you do not have to guess whether it works or not.
Thanks that's good to know that the update notification will come and that by unrooting fixes any problems. In the meantime until 2.3 comes I think I'll reroot
I only rooted in the first place to get things like Adfree and Drocap2 working.

[Q] Visionary+ like app

Before I updated my Desire to official Gingerbread 2.3.3, I had used Visionary+ to temp root my phone. It doesn't work with Gingerbread and also looks like the app has come to end of life.
I tried searching the forum and Google, found many solutions but only to perm root.
I don't want to downgrade or change any ROM or do perm root. I'm looking for temp root only, like with Visionary+. I install it in my phone click temp root and done.
If anyone knows about this app, please let me know. I'd appreciate it very much.
Gingerbread closes the exploit visionary+ used for temp root. As far as I am aware, there is no temp root app yet. Can I ask why you don't want perm root?

I only want root, nothing else. No different ROM or loader or other fancy stuff.
I don't think I can say give me perm root like visionary+ temp root but don't change any stuff in my phone. I sincerely hope I'm wrong here.
You can go perm root and still use your stock rom.. You don't have to change that if you don't want to.

Oh! I can. I tried unrevoked but it only talks about custom ROM. Am I misinterpreting something? Please advise.
Unrevoked doesn't work on GB. You have to use revolutionary.
Yes it opens the door for custom Roms, but you don't have to.

The FAQ in unrevoked.com/rootwiki/doku.php/public/revolutionary says:
Does Revolutionary give me root?
No. You will need to flash this zipfile from recovery.
So this means I don't need revolutionary for rooting?
How to flash that file from recovery?
You need first revolutionary, then recovery then you can flash zip. You need s-off first provided by revolutionary to get root. You can't get it without it

OK. I'll read more and try. Thank you all for the help so far.
I found this guide, http://techspalace.blogspot.com/2011/10/perm-root-htc-desire-gingerbread-233.html and followed it. My phone is rooted now. Thanks guys.
Good job!

[Q] Quick Root Question

Is there any way to root this phone without a data wipe? I've never owned this phone, but a family member wanted to remove the verizon bloat. No ROMs will ever be installed, just need root to remove the specific apps. firmware 6.04.605.07, android 2.3.4.
Of note, I know about all the root and s-off guides, but none (that I read anyway) spoke specifically about data wipe. I know the HTCDev method DOES wipe data, so thats a no go..
Use alpharevx soff called revolutionary they have a web page revolutionary.io I think
