The Seidio Rugged Case has been causing my Evo to constantly overheat and reboot and in some cases it refuses to power on?? Also freezes a lot due to the heat.....Anyone else experiencing this???

Hello everyone!
Has anyone heard of an 1800 battery for the TB that is/will be the same size as the stock battery? Something available now or coming out soon? Also, are 3rd party brands good/safe to use in my TB? (I've heard good things about some company that sounds like Seido or something...??).
Right now, the 1600mA one that's out just doesn't seem like that much of a jump, and I definitely DONT want the bulky 2750 one.
I figure with an 1800mA battery and once my TB is rooted (and I can dial down the CPU while it's sleeping/standy), I will start to get decent battery life out f it.
Do a search its been answered. I'd give you a link but I'm using my phone.

1600 is more likely what you'll find.

Yeah, so apparently, this precise question hasn't exactly been answered (maybe I'm missing it somewhere? If so, please link.) As the OP suggested, im not really into the 1600, especially with all the talk of the siedio's supposed overrating on their batteries. Has anyone heard any rumours? Reviews? Anything at all?

supposedly htc is working on some like they have for the inc and evo the 1800 mah which dont require a new back.
I hope this true. I would love a longer lasting battery that's slim.

Yeah I'm not too excited about getting a giant battery that will make my phone even bigger. Hopefully, HTC will release a slim 1800mAH battery.
Agreed I decided to go for 3 of the generic 1500mah fleabay batteries, but if an 1800mah was eventually available I'd be all over it.

If the door was easier to take on and off this would be a good solution. Better have some good strong nails or you will be carrying a tool along with the 3 extra batteries

Lol, it is a little tough, but I don't have any issues like others have been having. I just grip it with my right hand down near the kick stand and pop it off using my left thumbnail piece of cake to me. So maybe I have mutant tough nails or just a bit more rough with pulling the battery cover off

Might want to add a extra battery door to your Tbolt battery man purse
I had one of these in my DX and I LOVED it. Hoping that they bring it to the TB.
A strronger battery from HTC would be great. I don't trust the cheap knock offs in a $600 phone that sucks juice likes there no tomorrow.

I seen somewhere tips for calibrating an extended battery, I was wondering if I could get some advice. Also I'm running Synergy RC2 GOD MODE.

-Charge battery to 100%
-In recovery, wipe battery stats
-Lets phone die [so that it automatically turns off]
-Charge back to 100%, use as normal
Try juice defender also

I had the extended for awhile i couldn't get over the bulk of it .
Have a hero and a TP2 so i just keep 2 charged batterys at a time and switch
I found the cheap ones work just as-well as the 60 dollar ones at best buy aslong as you condition them
I only paid $13 for this battery. I haven't even seen it's full potential yet. I'm a bit worried cause now I cannot use a case for it..but gives me more reason to try going red with it. Anyway, I was switching between 3 batteries and it wore out
My back. It was convenient yet annoying. So these batteries just need some conditioning?

I got mine for 8 dollars on Amazon lasted 2 days all i would do is calibrate at 100% completely drain then repeat for the first few charge cycles.
Worked like a charm just couldn't get over the girth
Hmm I see. I can get used to it, I just cannot have it in my pocket at work anymore. And its no longer protected so it is risky but I needed a change since I'm not getting the 3D right now lol

But from what i see the GB 2.3.3 battary life is ok on the new EVO's that is Hardware 004
Quick question, I've got a bricked evo that I have'nt touched in months. The battery has been useless inside the phone's box since then but a couple of days ago I noticed the battery looks like it expanded or exploded from the inside. Any idea of what could of caused this?
Very curious.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium
If it was never charged for a while and left on a cool environment I would say that the battery was just bad, if you had it on a hot place like on the glove compartment inside your car then it overheated. Either way I hope you discard it.
Any lump on a battery means you need to dispose of it..I've heard of some crazy stuff lol.
Sent from my PC36100 using xda premium
Dispose of it immediately. If you try to use it or charge it, it will likely explode.
Oh I would never attempt to use it again, I was just a little curious as to why this would happen. Thanks all!

old batteries tend to do that...
I am on a CDMA galaxy nexus running 4.0.4 and the battery is smelling weird, I have restored the phone and will wait a week to see if it remains. Has anyone else had this problem? If so, how did you fix it?

That doesn't sound healthy. It almost sounds like chemicals are leaking from your battery. Get a new one?

I removed my battery to shut it down, and I noticed a weird smell coming from it. Last night I aired it out, and restored my phone to its "Factory Settings" but it stayed on 4.0.4
Mine smells weird too >_>
What's a battery supposed to smell like? Shouldn't they smell wierd?
Just smelled mine. Smells a little like oranges mixed with... Ok, not really, but if you are concerned at all, I would take it into your provider's store. A factory reset probably won't help anything. My guess is it's just the heat acting with the adhesives. Just a guess though.
Well sometimes when i open the back case i smell some extrange smell but its the same smell as my 2 galaxy S I9000. I dont know what may cause it but i think its normal.
I swap between 2 batteries all the time and when I do, they both smell like this weird metallic potpourri type smell almost. I can't imagine that it's good. I wash my hands after handling the batteries. When are we going to see safety, health, and ergonomics incorporated as main "features" or focuses in consumer technology? It's definitely time to start refocusing on more important things.
Its most probably hot CPU/circuitry.
Move along people, nothing to see here!!
Did you use the phone as your vibrator? That would smell funky.

If you think your batteries venting gases it's probably a good idea to leave it outside till you can have someone at Verizon check it out. Li-ions have a bad habit of blowing up and/or burning.

thank god it wasnt my phone lol... I wonder how a defender would have taken it tho..
We were out on our bikes today and my friend wanted to mount it to his gas tank and used double sided velcrow.. It worked fine at normal speeds, but in the high 100s, that thing flewwwwwwwwww!
If it was realky anywhere near that fast its not that bad, yeah it's f***ed but it's not totally blown apart..

Yeah but that was the shear impact that destroyed it. Defender has it's own screen protector to cover the screen. Nothing more than a thin piece of plastic. I actually feel the commuter has more impact protection cause it has the harder case behind the soft shell thus dispersing the impact over a wider area allowing the soft shell to absorb it. And like I said, I highly doubt anything would have survived that.
