i was wondering what bloatware can i remove from the slide? i couldn't find a topic that was slide specific or that mentions what and how.
I highly doubt it can be removed without rooting the phone. I could be wrong, but I am almost certain that it cannot be removed unless the phone is rooted.

The only way to remove the bloatware is by rooting the phone, since it's built into the phone's software. Is the software causing you trouble? If so, get an automatic task killer and kill the processes. I hope that helps!
thanks for replying, sorry for coming back here late.

i currently have a task killer on, but i've sorta ran out of room on my slide. plus, the bloatware annoys me
Plenty of guides all around the forums, just start looking in the XDA Slide Android Development section!

Call me crazy, but I think there's a few a2sd (apps to sd) apps in the app market. I think it should work on Android 2.1.

i love this phone but after installing app killer, i noticed apps running that I never even opened.
Is there a way to keep apps from opening in there own?
Im sure its hell on the battery.
no it's not. apps being open doesn't matter, it's about your cpu that's what matters.

read this it will help since i stopped using a task killer i get less errors, and better battery life.
thanks
Oh that is great information. Now i dont have to keep going to task killer and stopping the programs.Saves me time.
Thanks again.
no prob 10/char
Kind of makes you wonder if the Task Killer is using more CPU cycles then the apps you are killing.

Same here, getting rid of task managers and just letting the phone "do its thing" has saved me battery and headache.
What slot of people think is that killing tasks saves battery. But if they just start up again it uses more cpu than when they are idle. What people should just do is root and get rid of bloatware I.e. sense and sprint stuff and start fresh like when u first get a comp. and do a clean install. But I can't root so yeah....
In all honesty what's killing battery.s is friend stream/facebook stuff. And some phones being set on gsm auto.

Here's a few resons why you shouldnt use it and why it makes very little difference.
It helps me when apps like music start to act crazy and play skipping tracks. I hit the app killer and it saves me. So while not useful for some, its useful for others.
This happens a lot. Is this normal? If so is it a ram issue with the phone? And is there anyway to improve that?
I haven't got around to permanently rooting my phone I have the stock OTA but if it can fix this somehow I will definitely do it. Thanks in advance

You mean when you press home your homescreen reloads and apps reappear in a few seconds? Seems normal as of now. Running CM6.1.0RC1 still happens. Haven't found anything to really fix this.
Root and overclock problem solved. Zoom zoom

Same here, when I overclock more than 1 g that problem seems to go away.
I used to have the same problem with the good old G1. Back then I thought it was because if not enough memory. Enabling "lock screen in memory" in launcherPro or AWD solved the problem. If you are not using them, run to the market and download one if them. No root needed

Yea I press the home button and my apps are invisible I guess and it last like 5 to 10 seconds and it happens a lot like every other time I press home.
Well in that case ill try to get around to rooting it.
launcherpro seemed to fix the problem so far thanks.

I'm overclocked at 1.1 and still always experience this problem. Also locked home app in memory in CM settings as well as enabled system persistent and still no fix for me. It's not bad, homescreen always came back. On my myTouch when this happened they'd sometimes just stay gone.

My mytouch used to do that too lol. But maybe its different for each rom. I started using launcherpro and that doesn't happen anymore

My myTouch stopped as soon as I enabled system persistent and enabled compcache.
Setting my mhz to the lowest number in the screen off setcpu profile seemed to take care of that problem for me, but it only happend to me when I was overclock to 1400+ and only when i unlocked the screen.
So I have the opposite problem from most folks. Pushing the trackpad wakes up my phone and I don't want it to. I have temp root installed, but I rarely root it. I've tried to uninstall various apps to see if the function disappears but I just can't seem to troubleshhot it.
Anyone have any idea why this happens on my phone when I've done nothing intentional to enable the function?
Thanks!
Cyanogenmod does this. Also its possible baconbits does as well.
Sent from my HTC Vision
But what have I done to make it happen? Everyone else complains the trackpad won't wake up their phones. I didn't mod it yet my trackpad has this functionality and I want to disable it.
Are you running a custom rom? If so then which one?
No, I'm just running stock. That's why I'm confused. Like I said, once in a greatwhile I temp root my phone, but that's about as crazy as I get. It just seems to be a standard feature on my phone, but from the comments I read elsewhere, most people do not have this feature and are actively searching for ways to get it.
I personally don't like it as my phone constantly wakes up in my pocket. I know, that's what she said....
You temp root with visionary i assume? And your sure you havnt installed any other program at all? No kernals nothing? Not even setcpu or rom manager?

When'd you get your phone? Makes me wonder if HTC just snuck it in there later. Then again, probably not.

Well, I dowloaded the overclocking script that folks were using before we got perm root. And I do have setcpu installed. I didn't try uninstalling that app. I have linpack, gscript, cachemate, busybox, and titanium installed as well. You think one of these apps could be causing it? I got tired of troubleshooting by uninstalling apps so I thought I'd come here for a tip, so thank you!

I did a phone order from tmobile. This is a replacement. I preordered the first one...
theres a script that can allow trackpad wake.
The kernel is your problem. You need to flash a stock kernel. Ther are plenty on rom manager. Most kernels include the trackpad wake.
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App
When I set Tasker to turn off keyguard (phone doesn't lock itself) it will wake with the track pad.

Does anyone know why Tele Nav keeps running? I checked my "Running Apps" and noticed it is always running. I have tried to stop the app from running but it restarts immediately.
Thanks for your help

TeleNav is a big pain and just does that. One of the reasons that I rooted my Evo was to ditch it. I used it all the time on my Touch Pro 2 but once I used Google Nav on Android I had no use for Telenav anymore.
A while back I read something that it does that, but the simple fix is to launch it and let it connect to internet to check/update it's self

Do you think its eating up your system resources and battery. If so get an app like Autostarts and kill it on boot up

i personally love telenav. much better than google nav. i dont know i just like it better. one thing that i am so confused about tho, its when you put an address in, it gives you different routes in different colors...could someone explain this to me? for the most part i always choose fastest, avoid tolls and hov.
