[Q] Help - bricked Desire

Hi,
I have (had) an unbranded, unlocked, Desire. I rooted, I loaded custom rom (worked fine), but the ROM manager screwed up something. I guess, it reflashed the bootloader (or recovery?), but failed.
Now the desire cannot boot. It stucked at the white screen, with HTC logo.
I can enter the bootloader. It says:
Bravo PVT3 SHIP S-On
HBOOT-0.93.001
MICROP-051d
TOUCH PANEL-SYNW0101
RADIO-5.10.05.23
Aug 10 2010, 17:52:18
HBOOT-USB PLUG
If I try to go to RECOVERY the screen goes white, and nothing happens.
If I put the PB99IMG.zip to SD card, the HBOOT finds it, but says, "Main version is older"
The RUU utility can see the phone, but can't reflash it, because of error 140
Please help me, what to do.

Acquiring CID of SD on OSX

I am having to create a goldcard to revert my Desire back to factory rom due to a munted update of 2.29.
The phone is locked in the boot cycle but gets no further. Trying to go into recovery brings up the red triangle then pwr + vol up brings the message: E: Can't Open /cache/recovery/command
So....
Im trying to build a goldcard to restore to factory ROM but I cant boot into the phone to read the CID of the SD card!
Im using OSX 10.6.5 and cannot find anything that tells me how I can do this.
Can anyone help or maybe even tell me another way to recover my phone?
Boot screen gives this information, if its of any use:

Half-bricked DHD?!? Is it repairable?

Hi XDA-Guys,
first of all, I am a moron because I think that I've bricked my phone.
How did I bricked it? Let me tell you:
I tried several ROMs (MIUI, Cyanogenmod, Android Revolution, ICS Beta ROMs). Everything was fine flashing with Clockwork. I've permrooted it once with Visionary+.
Then I wanted to sell my phone to a friend and forgot to turn off all the rooted options and started the latest RUU (RUU_Ace_Sense30_S_HTC_WWE_3.12.405.1_R_Radio_12.65.60.29_26.14.04.28_M_release_233505_signed.exe). Before that I also flashed the latest Radio_12.65.60.29_26.14.04.
It didn't work. I got this error:
ERROR[131]: CUSTOMER ID ERROR.
The ROM Update Utility cannot update your Android phone.
Please get the correct ROM Update Utility and try again.
I bought the DHD from O2 in Germany when it came out in October/November 2010.
I thought: "Okay, no problem. Download the RUU from O2."
I tried the RUU_Ace_O2_DE_1.32.207.1_Radio_12.28a.60.140e_26.03.02.08_M_release_153755_signed.exe and it didn't work. Then I tried another RUU: RUU_Ace_HTC_WWE_1.72.405.3_R_Radio_12.28e.60.140f_26.04.02.17_M2_release_161342_signed.exe. I tried alot of RUUs but none of it worked.
Everytime I got the same error. When I got into Fastboot it begins to flash and I can see the silver HTC font with the black background and then the error occurs: ERROR[131]: CUSTOMER ID ERROR.
It doesn't work because I'm on S-ON, right?
I think when I started my first RUU (the latest one) it got S-ON.
I can go into Recovery mode and restore another old backup but when the phone boots it got stuck with the white screen and green HTC font.
I tried several ROMs.
When I boot into HBOOT by pressing VOL DOWN and POWER this occurs:
-----------------------------------------------
ACE PVT SHIP S-ON RL
HBOOT-2.00.0027
MICROP-0438
RADIO-26.14.04.28_M
eMMC-boot

HBOOT USB PLUG
<VOL UP> to previous item
<VOL DOWN> to next item
<POWER> to select item
FASTBOOT
RECOVERY
FACTORY RESET
SIMLOCK
IMAGE CRC
-----------------------------------------------
I also tried creating a Goldcard with booting into Fastboot and starting the latest RUU --> didn't work. :-(
I tried starting the RUU till the first screen and copied the "rom.zip" out of the folder C:\Users\HorstHeinz\AppData\Local\Temp\{CFD2B623-C8F0-49BD-B58A-B660BD3E6320}\{50F2F878-636A-496F-A7CB-544C067E0C4B}, renamed it to PD98IMG.zip and copied it to the root of the SD-Card. And when I booted the phone into HBOOT it recognizes the file. It loads, it checks...and then it failed again: "CID incorrect! Update fail! Press <POWER> to reboot.
Where is the mistake? Can I throw away my smartphone?
Kind regards,
Horschti

First off, you aren't bricked. It turns on. So don't panic. Do you have Google Talk or anything? If you do, PM me that and I'll help you. Thanks!
PS. Do NOT throw your phone away!
This might help:
[Guide] Stuck in Hboot Read This
You might also want to look at you CID, if you are "Super CID" you may not be able to flash RUU from a provider. You will need to find your providers CID (there are many threads etc) and then write that (using the easy S-off tool) then flash your RUU.
If you Flash an older RUU and then update you will overwrite your Rooted options.
@azrael97c:
I tried a lot of guides, but I haven't tried this one.
I will tell you if it worked. Thx for your help.
@wbbigdave:
Yeah, that was my first idea to make it work. Maybe I find another CID-Change-Tutorial. But SUPER CID_1111111 is the one where I can flash every RUU, right?
yeah your good to go
@azrael97c:
The tutorial you've sent me didn't work either. :-(
I always get the same error when I've copied PD98IMG.zip into the root folder of the SDCard. And I also tried a couple of PD98IMG.zip --> "CID incorrect! Update fail! Press <POWER> to reboot.
@xXkingsromXx:
Yeah, I know! The idea was good, but in reality it of course didn't work. :-(
I'm not able to create the goldcard because I just can get into HBoot and from there to recovery mode. In recovery mode I'm able to read out the CID.
From the tutorial in XDA I've wanted to create it with help of Google a Goldcard. I've found a Goldcardtool.exe-Tool. But it also didn't work. :-(

[Q] Desire booting into ClockworkMod Recovery v5.0.2.0 but not into OS

I S-OFFd my device and installed CyanogenMod Recovery v5.0.2.0 using the instructions from revolutionary.io. I installed the ClockworkMod ROM manager.
I don't know what i tried later, I did put PB99IMG.zip file in my SD card and i rebooted my device ---> went into the ClockworkMod recovery ---> used install from SD card option and selected the file PB99IMG.zip.
Before this ever happened when i put the zip file in my sd card and when i rebooted the phone is asked me this
Parsing..... [SD ZIP]
[1]...Bootlader
<Vol Up> Yes
<Vol Down> No
I selected Yes and it said updated. Then again i went to ClockworkMod recovery and used the install from SD card option and selected the zip file.
NOW WHENEVER I START MY PHONE ITS GOING INTO CLOCKWORKMOD RECOVERY, BUT NOT INTO ANDROID OS.
What should I do now??
Which hboot you tried to install using pb image?
Ditch the rom manager.

After S-OFF i dont know what were there.......
First i s-offd using revolutionary.io, then it s-offd, now i downloaded ROM manager and flashed the ClockworkMod recovery. Then i left the device like that thinking to install Runnymede AIO custom ROM. The next day I kept that PB99IMG.zip in the sd card and rebooted the phone to the main screen [i dont know whether the call it fastboot or hboot screen] then i got that parsing....[sd zip] [1]....bootlader, update? yes? no? then the rest is as I explained...........
Read the top line from the bootloader?
Also, Runnymede needs ext partition. Is your card partitioned correctly?

<vol down> no
NOW IF I PRESS YES

Do you wan to reboot device?
<vol up> yes
<vol down> no
Are you flashing correct version of Runnymede? I think you could remove that zip from your card as the hboot seems flashed. I'm not sure, I use fastboot for such matters.
Re:
I didnt even try to install Runnymede.....I'm still thinking..... I guess i tried to install the cm7r2 twice.......and maybe thats the problem.........i dont know when i got the Alpharev cm7r2, maybe after installing it through PB99IMG.zip or before when i flashed it through the ClockworkMod recovery from my phone [android OS]
Mabe just try to install the ROM. Flashing the HBOOT several times should be no problem, but there could be no ROM left on your device, so it boots to Recovery. As stated on the alpharev website, flash your ROM or Nandroid restore after changing the bootloader. And you can safely remove the PB99IMG.zip from your sdcard, as the HBOOT seems to be flashed properly.
I don't know if you can even flash clockworkmod through clockworkmod (i always used fastboot for that). Maybe that corrupted your ROM. Just try to wipe and reflash.
Re: Solved
Thanks for the replies guys..........
The problem is resolved, and i successfully installed Runnymede AIO v6.0.4.1..... used the 4EXT Recovery Touch. I cannot get into hboot screen though. First after it was looping into the clockworkmod recovery, i selected install from sd card after placing the cyanogenmod 7.1.0 rom into the sd card and successfully installed it. I didnt like the ROM so i started installing 4EXT Recovery touch and removed the ROM manager.
I followed the steps in the thread pertaining to Runnymede and I installed it correctly.........
Thanks once again guys

[Q] Desire HD needs SD Card reboot - Which ROM?

Up until yesterday I had a great little HTC Desire HD, A9191 with rooted gingerbread 2.3.5, an unlocked bootloader (from htcdev), S-ON - and everything in my garden was rosy... Then I tried to get too clever and pushed a new hosts file to /system/etc while I had su privileges.
This was a big file (540K) which I had been using quite happily on Windows to keep adware at bay. However, I now think it caused the phone to fail because the first time I tried to boot up after the push, it started looping round the boot sequence indefinitely. I am wondering if the IP for localhost, being 127.0.0.1, is incompatible with linux...? Anyway, that's a job for tomorrow because before I can think about draining the swamp there are some "alligators" to deal with...
While this continuous re-booting was going on I found I could still do "adb shell" and run "su" but all my attempts to restore hosts to the original file were futile because at this point the file system was "read-only" even for root. Then I made my biggest error which was to attempt "RECOVERY" from the boot menu...... ( I think my previous attempt to create a recovery file failed and I must have just forgotten to attend to it.)
The boot loader still responds and I am now looking at the boot screen which says:
=============================================
*** UNLOCKED ***

<VOL UP> to previous item
<VOL DOWN> to next item
<POWER> to select item
FASTBOOT
RECOVERY
FACTORY RESET
SIMLOCK
IMAGE CRC
==============================================
Here's what happens with these various options:
1. Normal boot ends with "Sorry! Process system is not responding" and two buttons "Force close" and "Wait" - but in reality the phone is simply hung...
2. FASTBOOT ends with a phone gif and a red triangle / exclamation mark.
3. RECOVERY also ends with a phone gif and a red triangle / exclamation mark.
4. FACTORY RESET runs a black/white barber pole and sd card symbol for 2 minutes, then reboots as far as "quietly brilliant" but this then ends up the same as 1. above.
5. SIMLOCK produces this output:
FAT32 init OK
Open MCCMNC file fail
Open CID file fail
Process done, reboot device?
<VOL UP> Yes
6. IMAGE CRC produces this output:
osbl: 0x3AA5FD29
amss: 0xD791CCA8
hboot: 0xFB10D632
boot: 0x8446CCFD
recovery: 0x0x88F60913
system: 0x898C2200
When I put an sd card in the slot and press and hold the power button with HBOOT highlighted it produces this:

So am I right in thinking that it's not quite dead yet and still recoverable? I have made a few attempts to position ROM files in the root of the sd card, but so far without success.
Could someone please tell me (assuming it's not bricked yet) what file(s) I need to put on the sd card to stand any chance of recovering. Previously I had downloaded the nearest "stock rom" to the phone's original but this came as a .exe which just compounded my confusion as to what needs to be done.
Here's hoping...
