Help! I have trouble using clockwork recovery - Desire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
And yes, my phone is fine still running on stock rom, but I have trouble when using rom manager and booting into the recovery to load another rom, I seem to get the android monster with a attention side beside him, this happens when I sellect any option. I just rooted my phone so I am quite dissapointed. My HBoot version is 0.93 . Also when starting the phone while pressing the volume down button I get to the menu but how am I to get to the clockwork recovery menu? Any ideas how to fix the issue?
Thanks in advance!

Boot into HBOOT, select 'Recovery', you're now in Clockwork Mod
Easy

Thaank you, but when I select any option in the clockwork recovery menu I get that android monster picture and a attention sign. The only way to go back would be to press the power button. Any ideas?

[Q] My Desire HD - Unknown error

Hi everyone. I've successfully rooted my desire hd and have loaded many custom rom's so i'm not a complete noob but i noticed the other day that the superuser app had gone and i can't get into clockwork recovery mode...however...my desire hd decided to reboot today and there it was...clockwork recovery. I wasn't holding down on the volume button as the phone re-booted, in fact, i didn't touch a thing. i was looking at the zedge app.
Reason im posting is i would like to re root my phone but i'm not sure how risky its going to be as clockwork recovery is in there somewhere but i'm unable to access it. Any help would be greatley appreciated....a few details about my phone:
Software version : 1.32.405.6
HBOOT:-0.85.007
Radio: 26.03.02.26_M
On tmobile network in UK..Phone has been network unlocked.
Have you tried downloading superuser from the market?
What happens if you try and boot into recovery (power prompt or vol- and power button)?
Sent using witchcraft via XDA Developers App.
it goes to the stock recovery menu. that's what i cant understand. ive re downloaded superuser but its unresponsive. when its installing, its telling me the file is infected. Same with visionary.
"Infected"!?! That's a new one on me. You say this message comes up after download but during the install? Can you install a 'normal' app from the market?
What ROM are you currently using?
Sent using witchcraft via XDA Developers App.
You can "reroot" your phone by flashing a new rom

New Problem

Today I installed advanced task killer/manag er from the market as my phone was acting up lately. I set security to low and task killer to run when the screen is off. I rebooted and now im stuck on the white htc screen. I tried pulling the battery several timesand rebooting but still no boot. I cant boot into recovery because my volume down switch stopped working in the past week. Is the re any way around this I only have 1 phone and really need it working. Thanks in advance.

Not sure, one day it worked and next day it didn't. Volume up works but volume down doesn't, the trackpad has also stopped working. The phone was ok before doing a reboot with the task killer.

Ok that's weird :S
Try press harder on the volume down or like hold the tumb on the minus symbol so it covers more then the minus symbol and push hard then hold the power button when it is off, it should boot in recovery.

While phone is off press back button + power. That takes u to fastboot then use fastboot commands to boot recovery

I managed to boot into recovery but because the trackpad isnt working I cant select any options. This is damn frustrating. I should have installed a touch recovery. What are my options now?

Had a major stroke of luck this morning. While frantically trying all combinations of button pushes while in recovery a notification appeared that the back button had been activated with menu functions. The search button then acted as a select button like the trackpad. I was able to reflash my rom without losing any data or apps. Thanks to everyone for all your suggestions. That was a close one.

Yay, I were just going to say that, that you can use the trackball or whatever it is called, you know between back and menu button. You can navigate there too

Do you know what version of CWM you're running? There were a few versions that hung on the 'htc' screen and would take a few reboots to fully boot.

If you can get into hboot , or able to see 'adb devices' show your device you may be able to type:
adb reboot recovery
and cause it to reboot into recovery from your terminal if you are finding difficulties with using the button method.
The splash is sometimes indicative that you don't have a rom installed at all (i.e.: if you did a clean wipe and such), but worse case scenario, you don't have recovery installed either in which case you may have to install it via fastboot (at the bootloader screen)

can you give any link to do that or something else.. i really need it. im newbie dont know anything
and i use android speeddaemon fantasia rom..
adb (android debugging bridge)is an executable program for a pc (or linux or apple) to communicate with your android phone. it is unlikely adb will work if you cant even access your hboot but you can try.
if you rooted your phone yourself than you should have the drivers installed and adb.exe also installed on computer, along with knowledge on how to use it.
if you didnt/dont have it, google android sdk for the package, and google adb for dummies (or something like that) for more instructions if the sdk doesnt provide you with enough.
but like i said it is unlikely to work and if you want any chance of fixing your phone i suggest logging onto freenode to get real time help
anyway thanks.. i have resolved my problem with battery pull first and then press vol down + power button

If that was your fix, you most likely have the buggy CWM version. Update your CWM recovery to the latest version or flash 4ext recovery (which I've never heard of hanging like that)

Can't get past Recovery

I have my daughter's Incredible I'm trying to rehabilitate. I had it perfectly solidly flashed with Stock+, but now I'm finding that while I can get it into recovery (CWM 5.0.2.0) I am unable to do anything other than scroll within recovery. Pressing "power" just gets me a blank recovery screen. I can get into hboot (ver. 1.02.0000). I had done the htc dev unlock some time ago, and the radio is 2.15.10.07.07. When I tried Amon Ra instead (which is what I run on my Rezound) I couldn't even navigate within the recovery.
I can get into the device via adb or fastboot as well, I just can't do anything when in recovery.
I *can* navigate within hboot, so it isn't a question of the power button or volume buttons not working.
Any suggestions for how I can move forward? Should I RUU and start over?
Thanks in advance.
Pressing the trackball when inside recovery is used for selections. Hboot utilizes the power button for selections.

[Q] Touch Recovery for HTC Wildfire?

My HTC Wildfire's trackball has broke. WHICH IS HORRIBLE NEWS!!!! This means I cannot install custom ROM's which I loving doing (for some reason). I cannot use the Recovery because to select something, I need the trackball, which is stupid, and installing through ROM Manager doesn't work all the time. Is there any stable TOUCH recovery for Buzz out there? Please tell me, else, this Willy is useless. Any suggestions will be appreciated!
I am running:
Cyanogenmod 6.1.0 (6 because 7 is too buggy and 6 is smooth)
ROM Manager (Up to date, but installing ROMs doesn't work)
Clockworkmod 3.x (x because I can't remember exactly)
Thanks!
- Ikram232
EDIT: I don't need a TOUCH recovery, I need at least a recovery that doesn't require a trackball. I don't care how old it is, as long as it install custom ROMs!

Clockwork mod version 5.x x x+ has a thing built in where you can scroll up and down using menu and home, using power to select things instead of power being the back button. If you I stall it and then hit the buttons a few times it should enable stating "back button enabled"

No luck, installed the official ClockworkMod Recovery v5.0.2.0 and you can move about with the volume rocker and HOME to go up and MENU to go down. BACK and SEARCH just makes it go back to the top of the menu and the POWER switch just hides the menu and show the background. That was a fail! Anything else? Or is the phone done for?
EDIT: it might be the one I install, do you have a link to the one that you had/have?
