Is the unrevoked method full nand unlock as well?

Whitslack vs. SteelH Rooting Methods...

Hey guys just an off the wall question that I got to wondering about today... If any of you have used both of these to root which one is the better...? Or is there even any advantages of one over the other...? I'm currently rooted using the SteelH method and didn't know if I shoot reroot with the other method or just stay here..

yup you already need to be rooted, whitslack gives you the most current OEM rom that is ROOTed and has up to date radios.
you should use steelh root method, then whitslack to get everything current while still rooted.
Thanks guys I appreciate it, just wondering I am running the OMJ rom so my radio is the 2.0 and software is at 1.47 so is the running of Whitslacks really necessary?
Only necessary if you have issues and wish to "start over"

Should I Update to 2.2??? (froyo)

well since now Froyo root has been achieve , should I Used The 2.2 Ruu and Update My Phone and then root again?? I have 2.2, But I root when i had 2.1????
Thanx for your answers!!
Why would you need to root again if you're already rooted? Unless I misunderstood you..
Sent from my HTC Evo 4G using XDA app.
i would suggest using a rooted froyo rom from SteelH, look in the development forum, it is basically a stock froyo with root.

You're looking at it wrong. If you're already rooted, you gain absolutely nothing by going stock and rerooting. Any "updates" that are in stock are already available to rooted devices.
Sent from my blah blah blah blah
You can always update, I am suggesting when you do an update that you use a ROM that a developer has tweaked and already has root access. Just less work on your end, being a user.

just so you know everyone of the guides is using Unrevoked forever to unlock nand there is nothing better right now since the unlock they use is actually as they say forever
Yea there's nothing wrong with the newer unrevoked. Full nand.

Unrevoked is the easiest way
I just rooted my evo like a week ago.. with unrevoked.. and its working great.. i think its the easiest way to root it. just install the drivers first. really easy..
GOOD LUCK
Thanks to everyone! Then i just probably'll use unrevoked!
Same here, I've used unrevoked for some time and no problems

Please Help Need a Stock unrooted Gingerbread RUU

Ive been looking for 2 hours now and can not find a RUU for the new Gingerbread Rom. Im giving my son my Evo Cuz IM getting the 3D so I just want to give him a STOCK Evo, I already unrooted to Froyo but its saying I dont have an update! I hve NO CLUE why but does anyone know where I can find a stock RUU (not zip) of the new gingerbread ROM?
Should have stayed rooted and downloaded the rooted "stock" gingerbread Rom. It is a stock Rom for rooted users

Root again, flash stock rooted 2.3.3. I don't see why you wouldn't want your son to have it rooted for things like wireless tether.

Ya I just used unrevoked and rooted again

There is no RUU available yet for the GB 4.22 build. I'm not sure what's preventing you from updating to the OTA, but thought u could get it from htc.com or sprint.com.

I talked with customer service and they said they are having problems with the gingerbread update. I unrooted mine so I could return my evo to sprint. And get the evo 3d.

Please don't unroot your phone. When a rooted Evo comes in it gives me a reason to tell my boss I'll be busy for the next 3hrs unrooting it.

Lmao, I like that!! Too funny

Pay for rooting my phone....

So I recently received a new or refurbished EVO from Sprint. It has the new 2.18 hboot and 5.0.....update. question is I'm willing to pay someone to root my phone using revolution method. Only if ur near the Downey, California area.
I had an old EVO that got the bootloop of death after 2years being rooted using unrevoked. I was reading that unrevoked can sometimes cause this issue. I want to use the revolution method.
Thanks for any replies.
Can't use Revolutionary to root Hboot 2.18. You have to use the HTCdev method. Info can be found here:

I didn't know the HTC dev and revolutionary was 2 different steps. Nice to know.
Another question if you or anyone else can help. There's a specific part on the video he states that if all I want is tethering and bloat removal I don't need s-off.
All I want is the Sprint stuff removed tethering and maybe add a few 3g and 4g speed tweaks. Can I do that without being s-off?
Yes. The only thing s-off offers is flashing kernels thru recovery and flashing radios pretty much.
Btw use flash image GUI for kernels if not s-off
Can be found for free here on xda

Interesting. I've flashed kernels on my current phone through recovery, and I'm still s-on. No issues, either.

Very nice. That's exactly what I wanted. Kernel with sound enhancement.
Tether and data tweaks. I always thought I had to be fully rooted with s-off for kernels to work.
Getting excited now. Last couple questions... There's other tweaks caine has for 5.07 roms(quick settings...). Can I also flash those? Or do I have to be s-off?
Last question the wireless tether app should work just by having supersu and being unlocked or do I have to tweak the system to unlock the tethering service(sprint).
Not exactly sure what you're asking in the first part of your question, but you should be fine. As for the hotspot feature, you just have to be rooted, not s-off for that to work. Most rooted ROM's for the EVO include the hotspot, although some users prefer to use one of the apps from the Play Store.

Love the roms out there, but I want to keep my phone close to stock. I noticed most roms have the hotspot added. Most say hotspot tweak or unlooked hotspot added. So I thought I needed a specific tweak. Or remove a system file.
As for the first question. A dev created or added quick settings flashable zip to the new ota Rom. I wanted to know if I can successfully flash this zip? Hopefully that makes more sense.
This is the feature I'm talking about. Calkulin made a new deodexed ota Rom and ca1ne created this feature in a flashable zip.....

That should work fine. It's just a script to add some customization to the ROM.

Great.... Too late now. Lol. Even if I leave s-on it voided right? I'm guessing yes since I entered that long token code.
I wouldn't sweat it.

The "simonsimons34 Wildfire S tool" that is used in that thread is not available. The service that was hosting the download file, some how messed it up or lost it or something, and the developer is having to recreate it. No time estimate on availability that I know of.
